    My parents have an ink jet printer. We use it so infrequently that by the time a cartridge nozzle has dried up, the cartridge has only been used for about 10 sheets.
    These laser printers seem magical with their "no liquid so nothing to dry up" and "2400 page yield."

    Paying for two sets of ink cartridges usually costs more than the actual ink printer... Its unbeliavable.

    Same here. The day I bought my printer it gave an ink low error, I put tape over the sensor and have been printing ever since! Literally hundreds and hundreds of pages. Even if it the printer dies today I already printed more than the $40 worth I paid for it. Absolutely love it!

    My art department got sick of replacing their pro-model continuous ink printers (printers that feed from external tanks of ink) so they tried a high-end color laser printer. They won't buy another inkjet printer again (with the exception of large-format pro inkjets) because the laser printer does an amazing job for photography and prints clear text. They use them interchangeably for paperwork and photo printing. They're also generally faster at everything, so they can have entire classes finish printing in the time it took for 1/3 to 1/2 the class with the previous printers depending on quality settings.

    Unless you really need the versatile paper selection and supposed better image quality of an inkjet, save yourself the hassle and buy a laserjet. It’ll save you money over time and won’t break down if you leave it alone.

  • @S13v7n
    @S13v7n 11 років тому +7

    On top of lasting longer, you don't end up wasting ink either.
    Many times in my experience, its either cyan or magenta that runs low and I end up having to rebuy a brand new tri-coulor cartridge. Some companies even make it so you must buy 2-1 combo colour and black ink cartridges. If they sell standalone black catridges, they often cost more money too.
    Laser printers may cost more for toner, but you can get 4 dedicated toner catridges for each colour and they print much more than inkjet.

    LASER IT IS THEN! Thank you SO MUCH for your quick rundown! 👍
    They have color laser printers now? 😮😵😲 Holy moly! I didn't know that! It's been a few years (decades) since I looked at laser printers and they only printed in black back then. They were also VERY expensive!
    I've had inkjet all my life and I don't print much. I just bought new cartridges about 6 months ago....$60! and I desperately needed to print something out today just to find out that the cartridges are dried out AGAIN! And I even kept them sealed in a baggie so they won't be exposed to air. Didn't work!
    I have only used colored ink 3 times in 10 years, so having a color printer is not really relevant to me. If I REALLY feel the need to print pictures, I can invest in one of those photo docks.

    when you look at 720p to 1080 the image may stretch but because pixels are now more densely packed the words and smaller details are now in a higher quality. 1080i on the other hand is only equal to 1768x992p small dif but when you use a computer the dif is very noticeable.

    why not both. for home use, a 20dollar inkjet can be easily bought (mine HP2130 cost 19$ it was on sale).
    and I also have HL1110 for 99.9% school work printing which I got from my roommate (he thinks the toner is expensive, but he never know the existence of Ebay)
    so . total cost for me = 19 +14 = 33 AUD for the best of both world.

      Manishv90 my laser fujixerox printer cost sgd129-169. Each toner cartridge can print 2k to 2.5k pages and cost me sgd10. Genuine toner cost about sgd50. If any inkjet printer is capable of rivalling that, i'll take a look at it.

    you can unclog an inkjet cartridge with a hot damp paper towel, just press it on and release the dried ink, reviving the cartridge

    Buying new ink is more expensive than a new printer with ink incluted

    • @d3xbot
      @d3xbot 8 років тому

      +xxX_BomBer_Xxx that depends on some factors: Does the printer come with starter cartridges with less ink or does it come with full cartridges? You should also factor in things like technology recycling / disposal costs (depending on municipality and local regulations) and environmental factors. Where I live, it costs less to buy new ink because you get fined for improper disposal of electronics and it costs less than the fine but more than the difference between printer and ink cartridges.

    cheap inkjet with refillable cartridge is the way to go if you print a lot (or make a hole in them, like I did, to make them "refillable")
    Instead of paying like $30 for a small ink cartridge, you pay only $5 and you get enough ink to refill your cartridge 4 times, with each fill giving you about 300 black/100 color pages.

    I am not going to buy more ddr2 ram, there would be no point since i'm going to upgrade very shortly. The gaming differences are huge if your using a lower end graphics card, mine is a GT 640 OC, I kinda like the new start menu but hear me out. I like that I can keep all of my programs on the start menu without cluttering my desktop, I like how you can access programs like calender and weather very easily. I came here hoping to answer a dumb question:
    Are toner cartridges a scam the same way ink cartridges are? My all-in-one paperweight seems to need new ink cartridges every 3 prints, and for some reason it runs out of magenta -- even though I almost exclusively print monochrome. I'm thinking a monochrome laser would better suit my needs... 🤷‍♂️

    Having been responsible for equipping my legal office since well before the first PC-class computer or first laser printer was introduced and continuing through 2015, It never occurred to me to use an inkjet printer in a business setting. The output is not permanent. Text can smear if damp. Inkjet started as the much cheaper way to acquire high quality home printing with color printing included. Frankly, color laser printers initially gave poor color quality. They were extremely expensive to buy and more so to operate. Outside some limited business settings, I cannot imagine why anyone would buy one for regular use. The highest quality color printing output from a computer used to be a sublimation printer, even more expensive than the color laser system. For the cost, they never caught on for general usage. I wonder if they are available today for specialty use?

    Linus, you forgot to mention that the laser printed document is a world of difference to its inkjet counterpart in terms of water resistance.

    nope. they are both true hd.
    first of all the tv/monitor panel does not refresh at the same time, it goes in lines. (starts at the top and makes its way to the bottom).
    (there are 1080 lines hence the name)
    i= means it would refresh ever other line 1,3,5,7... once its goten to line 1079, it would go back to the start and to 2,4,6,8...
    p=progressive. it would refresh at line 1,2,3,4,5,6,7... to 1080
