Hi sis Zinhle, I am currently in Grade 12. I’ve missed the deadline for applications, I was looking to go to Wits Plan A was apply for Health Sciences and Plan B was to apply for Sciences. I have not got my marks yet, I am currently home/online schooled (ever since COVID hit then I never went back to traditional school). I was wondering if they will give us a chance to register again, I am so worried. My Preliminary exams are coming up in a month and I just cannot seem to stop stressing.🥺
Hey babe, please don’t stress too much especially given your exams are coming up. These things always find a way to work themselves out. You would have to find out as soon as possible I’ve they make provision for such things. Alternatively maybe apply for other things as well in health sciences as soon as you get your mark and you can go into medicine at a later stage 🤍
Hi❤️ I am currently in grade 12. I don't have physical sciences, but I have pure mathematics and Life Sciences. And my average was good. Do you think I will be able to do medicine if I don't have Physics? What options do I have?
Physical science is definitely a requirement to study medicine, just like maths is. So your options at this point would be to do a science degree and take physical science and then go into medicine via gemp or after obtaining a degree that had physics in it. So you could try your luck maybe at Wits but I know that other universities definitely make it clear that they need you to have done physical science. I hope this makes sense
I subbed😃 this video was really helpful but I'm still a little confused because I want to be a neurologist so i don't know if I should study first or go to med school first? And are you able to go to med school straight out of high school?
Thank you for subbing 🙏🏼 In South Africa, you are able to go to med school straight out of high school and that’s what you’d need to do in order to become a neurologist. First you become a medical doctor and then you specialize in neurology ✨

Babe, one thing I’ll tell you is to never let fear be a driving force for decision making. If you want to do medicine, go to WSU sis. They have produced some really great Drs that I know personally. Also opt for living at res if you have these fears because then there are people there to literally protect you. Don’t listen to the noise my angel

Hello ✨ so you’d probably need pure math. Most health science related degrees and science related degrees such as pathology need you to do pure math. And then in terms of getting in, that would depend on the university. I don’t think though, that they’d turn you down if all your marks are good and your maths mark just meets the minimum requirements. I hope that helps 🙏🏼
I want to ask will you be accepted in med school if in your grade 11 report you got 58% in maths and in English, life science and physical science you have obtained above 70%🥺🥺
hey i like your video. so my question is: what about those who realized their true potential very late? like myself i am 37 years and studied law but realized medicine is my passion? and i did not do life science and physical science at school, can i do them at college?
This is a tough one. I’m sure there are ways though to go back and do life sciences and/or physics short courses so that you can eventually go into medicine. I do touch on this in part 2 of this video

This one is tricky just because you have to apply with grade 11 marks and unfortunately with the maths and physics marks, you don’t meet the ai minimum requirement of 60% and above. Try apply still and see and try improve. But make sure you also apply to another degree that maybe you can bridge into medicine later because then they’ll only look at your matric results

Look I’d always advise resting during your holidays because they give you a holiday for a reason. You can dedicate your holidays during the year to studying. My best advice for matric is to work from day 1. Be consistent from day one. Do your homework from day one right up until the end. That consistency will help you even going into university. Just be disciplined during your matric year and do your work, you definitely will be okay if you do this.
You apply with your grade 11 final marks. They look at your progress through matric and make a decision based on your matric final marks. Things like provisional offers etc. are based off your grade 11 marks mostly
@@zinhle.m oh thank you..so if your grade 11 marks are pretty low(like your marks are average), what are the chances that they might accept or reject your application?

No it does not. You could get the final offer without having received the conditional one. Just be patient, sometimes they take a bit of time especially because universities haven’t opened yet. I think I got my final offer like a week before varsity officially started/a week before O Week. I’ve been getting a lot of these so just be patient babe
@@zinhle.m thank you so much!
Hay Z. Due to covid a lot of cultural activities (my school specifically) have been canceled, so will that hinder my chances.
No babe. The universities understand and will obviously change their requirements accordingly so don’t worry about it
@@zinhle.m your video has been really helpful 🥺. Highly appreciate

Hey, Zee i have distinctions in Maths;Physics,Life sciences in grade 11 but i have a level 4 for English do you think i can get to Medicine or should i just Upgrade my English grade 12 English?
Hey babe, I think you should definitely still apply and see how it goes, because you’ve got distinctions for the important subjects ✨
@@zinhle.mThank you............I'm just scared 😨 is Medicine really difficult or it just requires time and hard work

hey! do you think an 87% ave in grd 11 will be likely to get a provisional offer?
It’s likely. But the decisions are mostly based on those final matric results so try keep your marks up and you’ll get in. You can still get in without provisional acceptance
@@zinhle.m thank you
hey did you get a provisional offer?
hey, I did
but from what I’ve heard from other people I think good nbt scores helped the most in getting the offer
Hello .I want to ask if I got bad results in grade 11 do I stand a chance to get into medical school
It is possible. The determining marks are your final matric marks. As long as your grade 11 marks meet the sub minimum
If your matric marks improve, apply anyway and see
Ouhk thanks u are so pretty 🤍✨in our school they gave us form which u sign giving the department of education a permission to publish ur results in different universities if you did well with your matric so I want to know even ones I didn't apply for medicine will they give me option to choose from including medicine or they application for medicine will be closed since some hv closed
Hie♥️ what about when you study life science and pure maths but not physical science ,does that completely cut one out from studying medicine?
Hey babe, I think at some universities, it might. Maybe do the application process and see but from what I know, physical science is important
Hello Ma, if I did have Life Science, English and and Mathematical Literacy then I can become a Medical doctor or can't _?
Hey babe, you need pure maths to do medicine ✨
@@zinhle.m Oh okay, Ma I will check see on my Google research there are much what's requirements subjects do be doctor medical. Thank you😊🙏
hi zinhle
Look I’d always advise resting during your holidays because they give you a holiday for a reason. You can dedicate your holidays during the year to studying. My best advice for matric is to work from day 1. Be consistent from day one. Do your homework from day one right up until the end. That consistency will help you even going into university. Just be disciplined during your matric year and do your work, you definitely will be okay if you do this.
@@zinhle.m thank you
Hello, I go to a technical high school and they don't do life sciences can I get accepted for medicine?
Some universities don’t require life sciences so it is possible
Thank you
Thank you
So do they use grade 12 marks to calculate your score or grade 12 final marks?
You apply with your grade 11 final marks. They look at your progress through matric and make a decision based on your matric final marks. Things like provisional offers etc. are based off your grade 11 marks mostly
@@zinhle.m oh thank you..so if your grade 11 marks are pretty low(like your marks are average), what are the chances that they might accept or reject your application?
Hey Zinhle
What can you do if you got bad grades in grade 11? Do they consider your grade 12 results from like term 1 or 2?
Hi babe, I think I just answered you in the dms 🤍
@@zinhle.m can you please reply the same question she asked, my grade 11 marks are very bad and I want to study medicine
hey sis i wanna know if i could get provisionally accepted with my average of 72% from grade 11... my aps was 36 and i met the minimum requirements for everything
i’m looking to improve my marks this year and push for an average of 80
Hey babes
You could, that’s really up to the university. You might not though, they might tell you that they’re waiting for your final matric results to give a response. Sometimes they say that. If you meet the minimum requirements, but your marks aren’t great, they can say that they’ll wait for your final results to make a decision 🤍
Are you doing eleventh grade this year?
Hey I am from India
My % wise subj ( in CBSE board )
In high school more than 65% in all
1. Math
2.natural science (all mix Phys ,chem bio )
3. English
But in 12th(cbse board ) standard I had no mathmatics
1. physics=60%
2. chemistry>60%
3. biology,>60%
4.but in English=51%
Can I applicable to medicine in any medical College all over south africa PLZZ inform me🙏🙏🙏
Can I able to take University exam
I think this is something you’d have to apply for and see. I do know though that they want above 60% for English and that’s very important
if you didnt do well in grade 11 but your grade 12 marks are good can you get accepted in medical school
Yes, you definitely can
Hey , I'd like to know if you can do medicine with physics and maths only without life sciences
Hey ✨ yes you can, I know specifically at wits you don’t need life sciences and other universities too, im sure
Hey Zee🤎...I'm currently doing grade 11 and my marks are not good...
Can I still get into medical school if I improve with my grade 12 next year?
Hey babe ❤️
It’s okay if your marks aren’t amazing, as long as they meet the minimum requirements of 60% you can still apply and improve in your matric year
@@zinhle.m okay thank u so much💕💫
Heyy. Does Wits accept foreign students to study medicine. I'm an international student currently doing my A levels in Zimbabwe
Plus if I'm applying what will be the best second and third options that can help me get a better chance of studying medicine if I'm not accepted for the first year.
Thank you for the videos 💕💕. Really appreciate them 🙏
Hi there 🤍 so I’m not actually sure about wits but I think they should. Just go through the application process and see.
As your second and third options, choose a bachelor of health science and bachelor of science in Biological science.
Hope this helps ❤️
@@zinhle.m thank you ❣
Hey Zinhle, I'm currently in matric and I want to study medicine next year. I meet all the minimum requirements except for Maths which is 54% but my Physics, Life Science and English are all above 80%. Can I still get it🥺🥺🥺
Hey babe, so it depends. If your grade 11 marks don’t meet the minimum requirement of 60%, I don’t think you’ll get in but still apply and see because you could get that mark at the end of matric and they might accept you

I really need some guidance from a medical student, can I dm you?
Yes babe, DM me on Instagram. @zinhlee.m
Hey, is the provisional acceptance just to check that you meet the general requirements?
Not necessarily. It’s to give potential candidates a bit of confirmation. It’s like a short list basically
@@zinhle.m so the provisional acceptance is really hard too
@@adammadoGorilla yes, it’s definitely not easy to get

Hi zee I'm from Eswatini how do I apply
Hi there 🫶🏾 I’m not exactly sure if the process. See if you can go into university websites and find out. Sorry I couldn’t be of much help
Which varsities consider second attempt nbt?
I’m not 100% sure but I’d assume that they all do
Hey Zinhle hope you are doing well! Am already a medical student, I currently study in China but with everything going on, I don't think that they will call us back anytime soon. I will start my 3rd year in September. If I want to study in any of the universities in SA, what do I need to do? Like is it possible to do a transfer , can u please tell me everything u know about the transferring matter. Thx
Hello there ✨ unfortunately I’m not at all clued up about what to do when wanting to transfer to the universities. This will be something you’d have to do some research on your own for. Maybe give the universities a call for example or check on their websites 🙏🏼

Hi, I wanted to ask what you got for your NBTs because I’m currently awaiting for a response for BoHS and I’m kind of worried 😭
Hey babe, I really don’t remember. But I think all varsities wanted like over 65% for everything when I applied or something like that. I didn’t do amazing in my NBTs but I did well enough
@@zinhle.m thank you for your response. I did poor in the math getting 55 and I’m nervous about getting into the health sciences at wits

Hi im doing BHSc @dut i wanna ask how to apply for medicine from this course
Okay so you’d have to finish this course and try graduate with high marks. In your final year of your BHSc, then you can apply.
Then you have the option of applying to study medicine from first year, this you can do at UFS, UKZN and I think Sefako Makgatho as well. Or you can apply to wits for the GEMP program where you’ll start from 3rd year if you write the entrance test and do well. I’ll put up a video soon explaining all of this though 🙏🏼
@@zinhle.m thank you very much so when will applications be open for all of the above mentioned universities?I wanna apply for the first semester
@@ntombifuthingema1118 applications to most universities are already open 🙏🏼

i am surprised why ppl focusing on school leavers, pls pls consider others who also want to change faculties at late age.
Again, there is a part 2 to this video 🙏🏼 majority of people who go into medicine are school leavers but I haven’t ignored the fact that they aren’t all school leavers
what if you did alevels
I’m not sure. Sorry 🙏🏼
What if you did not do physics?
You need physics at most universities. If you did not do it, you may need to take a physics course at uni then apply for medicine when you finish
