Your story brought tears to my eyes, as I was reminded of my own journey to and through Wits Med School. The major challenge for me was making it through when I was already in, but as you said God's magnificent mysteries would have it no other way. And God places his soldiers on paths that seem unlikely for them for His grand plan.
Everything is made beautiful in it's time.
And
If something is meant for you, it simply won't pass you by.
Flashforward to now, I am exactly where I'm meant to be. And journey makes sense.

And I am currently a Grade 12 learner with the dream of being a doctor ❤. I got conditionally accepted into Wits for Medicine. To be honest,when the email came through I was in disbelief and I didnt really celebrate it that much cz Wits is like my second option as a varsity. Which,now looking back,was so dumb of me because instead of celebrating that the dream is gonna get achieved I focused more on the Varsity I want which hasn't replied💔. After seeing your smile and how happy you are,I just felt privileged of even getting accepted ❤.
I also havent paid the 3K and now I'm getting stressed about my acceptance being revoked.

I'm only in Grade 11 and brilliant I know medicine is for me but my Maths marks are making me doubt ever getting accepted...were you always good in PureMaths
I had my days/terms when it came to pure maths. Grade 11 wasn’t my greatest year in pure maths but I managed to pass matric with a distinction in it so don’t give up ♥️

I’m one of those people who did apply for medicine but only in two universities
I didn’t make it ,I performed fairly well in matric ,currently doing my first year in bsc in biomedicine. Deep down I wanna switch into either a medical program or dentistry but a part of me still feels like it’s impossible,it’s way too competitive . I’m stuck between finishing the bsc degree and re applying for medicine or dentistry,what can I do?

I really would suggest finishing your BSc degree and then you can apply to go into medicine in its 3rd year. You could also try reapplying though. That’s a choice you’d have to make but I have 2 videos explaining how to get into med school if you didn’t get in the first time around so please check those out 🤍

You still have tons of options baby, there’s GEMP you can research about it, and also just shut out all the external factors and tell yourself you are you and nobody else it’s hard I know but just do good in your current degree like really really good, it’s exams now you can still apply I mean other programs close on the 31st July and there you’ll already have you June marks just apply and you’ll see what is what… give this June your all
Any tips for a grade 11 student, as in , what minimum barrier would you give me to ensure at least I have a higher chance of being accepted. As well as other logistics involved with applying
1. Apply early please
2. Apply to as many universities as you can, don’t overlook any. All medical schools in this country produce great doctors
3. Make sure your Maths and English marks are high and that your getting an average around 80%
4. Don’t neglect other subjects, try keep them above 70%

They can respond whenever. Even after the final results come out so sometimes you have to wait 🥲

Yes. There are many people who go back to medical school later on in their lives when they’re married with kids. Also life happens, so there are people who have kids while in med school. I think it may make it harder unless you have the correct support. I can’t tell you when the right time would be but I would say in the second half of the studies. The first half is quite hectic

Do you think it'd be possible to apply with it as well as my term 1 grade 12 marks just so they can see the progress?
And if I get rejected now but do extremely well in my mid year and final exams will they accept me or at least consider me?
Look, I’d be lying if I answered this because I honestly don’t know. But I will always encourage you to apply anyway. Send through your progress at all stages and keeping working at it. If it’s yours, you will not miss it. Please definitely apply though. Goodluck with everything 🤍

Yes, you’re allowed to have a first and second option at all universities if I’m not mistaken

Your chances are pretty good. Some universities care more about your actual marks than the nbt
Hi Zinhle. So im currently doing 8 subjects at school and want to study medicine . My question is do universities consider the 8th subject to form part of the APS score or im basically just doing it nje ? Cause when i search if theres some sort of advantage for doing an 8th subject the results say that the highest APS is 42 so please if you can enlighten me on this I'd be grateful
I also heard that theres a possibility that since 6 subjects are recognised excluding LO ,it may be that in my APS they'll just take the extra subject "mark" and use it instead of a certain subject that's below . For example if my Tourism(extra subject) mark is higher than my physics mark then theyll use my Tourism mark instead of physics for the APS . Idk if its true or not
Yes, this is correct. They don’t count LO so it is to your advantage to take an extra subject. There are certain extra subjects that don’t count towards your APS like AP Maths for example but they still look at it and it puts you at a better standing. An extra subject like tourism or CAT could definitely help boost your aps of one of your other subjects falls short. I hope that helps 🤍
