Dude! Your semi sarcastic frustration with your shop and your pet peeves about yourself, all remind me of myself. Great ideas, nice welds "be sure to leave your drill chips on the table, so they get stuck in your arm." Great instruction with a commentary I can relate to. KK
Got some ideas from your vid. I like it because it’s materials that I can find, and not professional grade expensive. If I had $4k to spend on a table, I likely would need to watch this channel for ideas. Thumbs up.
Wow that looks great! But now you are in danger of becoming an organized person. Next you will be arranging your impact socket drawer by size? LOL! Great video and you are spot on with your welding table. Thanks for sharing. 👍
I make medieval armor and I am starting to build my new shop and i ordered one of these tables and i was planning on doing some mods on it and this video gives me some good ideas, thanks. I have used trailer hitch tubing vertical stands for years and they make great tool stands.
I’m not sure how your channel came up on my feed even though I often watch similar items.. must admit I kinda judged that it was gonna be a joke.. Man you’re the real world deal.. great video, totally relatable.. keep it up. 👍
Perfect. I just bought one last week. Good upgrades. Keep it up. One tip when using S-hooks to hang things…if it’s like my bbq grill’s hooks, I knock those off every time I take something off them. A zip tie can help close the end to keep it hooked.
Nice job … I appreciate you sharing your internal peg board struggle. You dug deep and I’m glad you added it. Sometimes you need to do these garage projects they can be rewarding. And have a beginning and a end.
I picked up the same welding table from Vevor. I ended up paying $105 dollars for it. It is "ok" for what it is. I found a 3" jaw Wilton Bullet vise at a consignment shop for cheap and bolted that to mine. The table is perfect to wheel out side and do dirty work on so you don't get your rust dust, grinding, dust, and dirt in your shop.
Great video. I like these ideas and will likely try some myself. I like the vice mount, as I would never have thought of that myself. I think that I would add some triangular bracing to the mount under the table. I like to beat on stuff in the vice and I think the bracing would help keep the welds from cracking.
Putting mine together soon... Suggestion... the clamping bolt on the receiver underneath placed on a flat side only holds well in one direction. IF you put the clamp bolt on a corner pointed towards the opposite corner... it will push the 2" into the opposite corner and hold both ways... Good job tho!
I thought I just finished modding my HF table. I put their 18" magnet across the legs on the end and did expanded on the shelf so it self cleans. Going to add to it again. Cheers
Agree on the HF table... thicker top (although you will need to do work to flatten it, as the frame underneath the top plate was warped on mine) and a L channel lower frame that I dropped a 1/8" steel plate into for holding equipment and tools. I did have to cut and reweld the lower frame because it was not square. Overall, this really helped a lot in squaring and stabilizing the table. In addition, I added the Home Depot steel pegboard to hold tools and welding magnets, and a plasma cutter water pan mount to the table to save space in my shop. Pretty happy in how it turned out.
@@madgingercustoms if course. I spend more time on that than making other stuff but it’s all satisfying and what more could you want than to be satisfied?
I have the Harbor Freight table. I installed wheels and bolted the shelf support to the legs because they only had tabs to hold it in. I want to put a shelf under (I am thinking concrete board) but I am struggling with how to keep all the clamping/fixturing pieces out of the way, organized and easy to grab. I love your cross brace idea for those twisty flimsy legs. I have also used mine for wood working setup and gluing.
My take on the like & dislike of the review videos would be those who have all the tools they'll ever need don't like the videos and those who are still growing in the crafts like the videos ! I like them and am still learning and adapting so 👍 GREAT VIDEO
Yeah, I really like being able to review inexpensive stuff that works for the hobbyist. The guys that watch my channel for the car stuff usually aren't into it. I do understand.
I'm not saying Bauer is up there with DeWalt or Milwaukee or anything like that but I've had mine for a couple years and I run a fabrication shop and you know it's lasted me fine, it's not perfect but it's lasted I wouldn't say I wouldn't recommend them I'm just just you're buying what you get and just know that you're getting what you're paying for, that's it
I have one of these and the first thing I did was take the longer front lower brace and moved it closer to middle so I can get my legs or a stool at least halfway under it. Then I put metal roofing material on lower back and sides to detour sparks from getting to far ( paranoia I guess ) I will do similar on top with angled sides I think using something stronger that won't flex and maybe make it quickly removable. Kinda like your vise idea. I do need to make bottom sturdier for sure
Little peg board baskets might work better holding those cut off wheels and flap discs so they don't go flying when you go to move the table. I'm gonna pimp out a Hobo Freight table next time they go on sale, thanks.
When you mentioned the magnet right after the comment about the metal shavings I thought you were gonna mention how to clean up using both. Add a plastic shopping bag or doggo poop bag and pick it up using the magnet.
Great ideals, Dave! Vertical vice/tool mount is awesome! Since the Vevor/HB tables are so inexpensive, would it be worth buying 2 of them (or more) and laying one on top of the other effectively doubling the thickness and weight of the table? They could be skip-welded together for rigidity. This,of course, is assuming (aw-ohhh!) that the tables are identical with the holes drilled in the exact same place. It might not be worth the trouble if you could buy a 1/4" thick table of the same dimensions for $350-$400.
That table top is a bit on the thin side for the clamps to stay vertical. It also doesn't help that these holes are 16mm instead of 5/8"..... sooooo yeah, that's why your clamps get canted at 30 or so degrees from vertical.
Cool video. What is the small rectangle box you have zipped tied to the tig hose? Does a foot pedal require that? Curious because I have a welding machine but haven't gotten into tig yet, usually just use the mig and stick but it has tig capability and I'm really thinking about getting a bottle and foot pedal and giving it a go and I don't think I have seen any other tig set ups with that small box like you have. I also watched a video that said to save money on bench dogs just use 5/8 shoulder bolts and cut off the threads. Found them on eBay only for 40 bucks for like 5. Not a money saver when I can just buy 5/8 dogs on Amazon for way cheaper. Thinking about reaming the holes to 3/4 or 19mm cuause it seems like wood working bench dogs would also fit and I already have those in metal of course.
Thanks for sharing your ideas. I’m pulled between the HF and spending a bit more coin and getting the Fireball DIY table for $575 😮 I’m getting tired of china junk
Re: vise mounting- If the head of the bolts hitting the table becomes a problem, cut the heads off and weld the bolts into the holes in the plate. Then the plate can lay flat on the table.
Dang, I always thought a fixture table would unattainable for me because of the price. I thought, I had to have a thick table top. Do you see yourself adding a holed plate to any of the sides for horizontal clamping?
I have a arccaptain 200 ac/dc and I am learning how to tig with it and I need a place to start if you don’t mind can I get the settings that you have on your machine amps and am welding 1/8”and 1/4” steel thanks for the awesome nfo
3/32 tungsten, 3/32 or 1/8 filler, 1/8" 100 amps 1/4" 160 amps but that's max roll in and then back out as you heat up. I'm not a professional welder though.
"Ruined camera lens": Clamp a "spit" shield in front of the lens (like they do for microphones). A thin sacrificial sheet of plexiglass/acrylic (8.5x11 ?!).
You think your hands are bad.. try having a stroke!!! seriously i've gotten my stroke affected hand back to the point where i can peel an orange. Doctors said i'd never get it all back but slowly its happening and i'm proving them wrong... i WILL weld again..

I see that as best as well but it's not an issue of keeping it straight I don't think. I suppose if you wanted to use it to level something.

The drill works, it's the chuck that sucks.
X2 on the pole barn thing. The center post in my shop needs to go!!! Looking good!!
Yeah we are hoping to move south and I'm hoping to get some sort of functional work shop.

Bolt 2 together?
@@madgingercustoms If they were made in such a way it was a case of just bolting two together,. i went and bought a 6mm sheet instead👍
You forgot one important thing reinforcing the under Side of the top surface. Great job on the rest of the table.
Just subbed. Cool video. Made me laugh. Good job on the table!

Should use carriage bolts or weld a stud into the plate to make it flush. Other than that it looks awesome!
Thought about it but it really doesn't matter if it sits on the bolt heads or the plate.
Well you're giving me ideas

Thanks how about Hercules
I bought a vevor too and it's a good table but the wheels are total shit!!! The swivel bearings fell out at the first use!!!
