Yes Jeffrey Here, I won't forget ya when it comes down to re applying for Prime Inc. I hear this company loves rookie drivers! Once my contract job is up in 9 months. I am going to go for it!
I had a 2019 589 automatic like that and am GLAD i got a new 2020 Peterbilt 13 speed flat top ungoverned and none of the buzzers going off constantly from the worn out lines in the road.
Welcome to Peterbilt team. Pete air Leaf air ride suspension. That's what the space between the def tank and 100 gallon tank is for 150 gallons. Need 150 gallon tanks to go for miles and miss those high price fuel stops.
It’s neat to see a truck with bells and whistles, been in a company truck for 24 years and never see the interior how it’s intended to be. It’s amazing to me how fast the manual transmissions disappeared. Automatics were around when I started and now I guess all the bugs are worked out and boom last few years I hardly see one anymore. Nice video. Good luck to you.
if someone didnt comment on here about it or if you havent figured it out yet.. you were asking about your ac... yes your ac it you put it say 72 and press auto it will keep the cab at that temp.. good tour
Congrats! I just picked up my truck yesterday (Wednesday). I was so fortunate, they had 4 brand new Peterbilts ready to go! I snagged a blue one. Spent all day getting it ready. Hopefully I'll get on my first load tomorrow. I hate I missed ya at Springfield. Safe travels!
I hated super singles. I even bought a stack of tires for my trucks and trailers. And still decided I’d try super singles on my trailer. And I have to say I’ve been loving them. They ride smoother than duals on my trailer. Prime being a huge super single company. You’re perfectly fine with them.
No Hippie seems like a good dude to have around and know. Love the video JJ but you know we are going to need a second walk through when you are all moved in and ready to hit the road. Love the huge shield logo on the side, get the brand out there. Can’t get enough of the videos and hope you are enjoying the new rig. Can’t wait for the next video!
Congratulations JJ on your truck upgrade....hope it helps make your money making adventures easier....stay safe on the road brother ...we rooting for you from Ndola Zambia 🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲
Nice looking Peterbilt and hope you enjoy it. I'm definitely going to miss my Peterbilt. It was great catching up with you while you where in town. Stay safe.
Nice truck bro. Even though you say its pretty much standard, it seems the standard offers a decent level of spec and the truck is very likable on the whole.
I bought a Kenworth T680 through a bank. My truck has a little more storage in the sleeper. It has a Cummings engine and I really love my truck. Next year I'm getting my own authority. Maybe I will see you out trucking one day.
They also preload the terminals they have across the states into the gps for ya ? That’s nice , they sound like a really good company video by video you put out.
I preer dual bud spaced tires in the back anyday over super singles. But super singles are much better than they used to be, and as long as you keep them aired up properly they won't be a problem, however if they're low on air even just a little they will have a pretty good chance of blowing out. My dad worked for Flying J before they were Pilot Flying J and they had super singles there and those guy's wouldn't air them tires up and they'd just blow out left and right compared to the duals.
I definitely like the dash layout and gauges better than the freightliner, other than the cup holders, and the smoother ride is a 100% improvement. The interior storage isn't as good or useful being it's all open without doors to keep things where they are. Maybe some nets would help?
I'm in a 2020 Cascadia now and just I have just about every square inch of space filled up, I can't imagine loosing that much storage. I can't wait to see how you overcome that hurdle. I'd love to get into a Pete but the lack of storage would be the only deal breaker for me.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be Jason. The cabinets are deeper and the bunk up top is much larger. The top bunk in the Peterbilt is actually larger than the bottom bunk on the Freightliner, which made a big difference. What I really do miss is all the storage of front in the drivers in area.
Sooooooo Happyyyyyyyyyy to see you on your own truck. All the best.. And so much informative about the details ...thank you ... And be safe on the road
I agree! I think internationals with no respect are meant for someone that’s very short or small and really doesn’t need all that room! I’ve drove a international with no trailer and was happy and then they wanted me to attach and I said no! Hate the turn radius with the international! Almost drives like a car!
I drove everything and the kenworts and peterbuilts are just junk you will have nothing but def problems ...that and you need a football field to turn it around. I'm in a prostar and this thing turns like my camaro ss. it hits the bumps a little harder but ill live with it because its a joy getting in and out of tight spots like chicken farms and these tight ass parking at truck stops at 4 a.m.

JJ be careful with what I call the white screen of blindness. Your touch screen will act up once and a while and will reboot and will come up super bright at night. If the touch screen freezes hold your volume button and home button and it will reboot too. Look up Prime inc peterbilt.
@@JJtheTrucker yeah it kept happening with the 579 I had at prime but that was a 19. Never run below the red line for low fuel it will make you chew thru fuel filters quicker.
So JJ, I noticed that you said that the mirrors were heated but my question to you is does that include the hood mirrors as well, are the hood mirrors heated as well as the door mirrors⁉️
I WISH! I'm actually surprised they haven't done that yet. Those really need to be heated. And power adjustable from in the cab. But alas, not yet. Maybe one of these days.
As far as the HVAC controls you set the temperature to where you’re comfortable and press auto end it will maintain the temperature, For example if you set it for 70°F during the day as you’re driving and the sun goes down and gets cooler out the fan speed will slow down to maintain 70! Yeah, it works really well in the summer and I enjoyed using it however I've noticed that no matter what, it always keeps the air conditioner on. Even when it's cold out and it's heating. They suck in slush, sleet or snow. And as a mechanic they're a pain in the ass to change. Give me dualies any day. We're changing out our whole fleet back to dualies.
I haven't had any issues with them in slush, sleet or snow. I'm sure the brand has a lot to do with it. I can see your point about why mechanics wouldn't like them.
@@JJtheTrucker lol maybe it's just the truckers and always hearing them whine lol and maybe cuz I'm getting old😜we are changing them out tho.. that is one sharp rig btw
JJ that isn’t just a truck, it should be your pride and joy.if would have had that 33 years ago I’d still be turning wheels!! But I have a question. Back in the day it was a known fact that sliding the 5th wheel all the way back would make trucks ride significantly better.I don’t hear that mentioned anymore. And yes I know the axels have to scale out so sometimes you can’t slide back so much.
I haven't heard that about the ride it I had to slide it forward because the way the air hoses are set up, I broke the electric plug while turning because it was too far back. So I moved it forward to give the lines more slack.
I guess moving the trailer back reduces aerodynamics but 30+ years ago that wasn’t really thought about. Old trailers were usually spring ride and when the trailer tires hit bumps it would actually jerk the truck up and down, this was called “ trailer slap”.sliding the 5th wheel would mostly just make the ass end of the truck jerk improving ride for the driver.
Did you know you could press your airbag raising button and lift a trailer off the ground if its dropped too high? then the airbags will return to normal height once you put it in drive..
JJ I'm a new sub and I ran across your channel and I also filled out an application and would like to know would it be too late to add your name to my app? Also how is the mpg? The pay is it mileage or cpm? What is your FSC?
My airbag switch lowers the airbags, it doesn't raise them up. They're in the fully inflated position for normal driving. I can lower them to get under a trailer that's been dropped too low, then raise them back up to the normal height, thus raising the trailer.
Hope yours is better than the one I currently have 2020 been having nothing but sensor , electric issues , and constant codes of the truck thinking my it's out of coolant causing the engine to shut off in 60 seconds
That button is to flash the marker lights. It's to say thanks to someone you just moved in front of. To flash your brights, if the lights are off, push the lever down. If the lights are on, pull the lever up and release to turn on the brights and do it again to turn off the brights. What a PITA lol
Yeah, Prime is testing them right now for cost of ownership. Hopefully they'll pass and maybe my next truck will be a Volvo. Who knows? I just hope they will figure out their body defect issues. Every Volvo that I see on the road that is more than a few years old has a lot of body and paint issues. The interior really looks nice though.
That other light switch is done light & ambiance lighting under your feet lights up the floor, one on the right is in the bunk area. Both lights should light up red. I’m used to the KW T680 I know the Pete is it’s cousin so I’m guessing it’s similar.
JJ the Trucker pardon my typos, dome light... amber?!😒 said okay I guess but yeah at night the red has a nice glow. I’m in a Volvo VNL 860 now so it’s like night & day.
I’d love to see a video with small clips that show an example of a complete day. From wake up to PTI, check in, drop off, daily errands and paperwork or phone calls to conduct business, repairs or truck stop, fuel, break, and whatever else. Most people do individual videos on different topics which I have learned a lot by watching, but I don’t think it shows the stress and long hours and everything all together because we watch them separately. Just a thought. Don’t want a 12 hour video but if it gave a update on each topic for a min or two I think it would make a great 30 min “day in the life of a trucker” video.
Turning radius, you're not kidding. Every U-Turn has turned into a 5-Point Turn! The Freightliner wod turn on a dime and give you a nickel back. The Pete turns on a half-dollar! 😂🤣😂🤣 Good to know on the anntenae. I'll check some out next time I'm in Iowa.
The dealership can make some adjustments to some of the stuff, or turn it off completely. IF you own the truck. If it's a lease or company truck, the dealership will need the owners permission.
Welcome to the Peterbilt club you will enjoy the truck. I went to Peterbilt when I was at Prime and have stayed with them. I will be talking delivery of a new 2021 579 ultraloft in the next week or two but the drive line is way different than what Prime specks.
Thanks David, and congratulations in advance. Originally tried to finance a truck directly from Peterbilt that was going to have the better Driveline, but that didn't work out. Are you going to be posting any videos or pictures of your new rig online? If so, please Put a link in the comments so we can all see them.
Newest truck Iv drove so far in the 8 years I’ve been driving is a 2011 Columbia and I’m still in it. It has 1.3 million on it. 60 series with a 10 speed
Oh, you poor thing... I just couldn't see myself doing that lol. But if it's working for you, then I'm happy for ya. But one of these days you should try out a new truck. You'll never want to go back.
JJ the Trucker that’s where I would have to disagree. I don’t need or want all the tech that new trucks have. Don’t need something to tell me how to drive. I like the look and style of old trucks. Yes I know each is there own. But that’s just me.
JJ the Trucker haven’t talked to leasing yet I placed the order late last night, but I scheduled for it to come in February 16th that way it gives me time to have a comfortable cash reserve for when I make the remaining down payment. Only thing I added to mine is keyless entry, factory fridge and I might add the factory inverter because I really like it, I have it in the Pete I’m leasing now
They'll call you anyway and let you know. May not be available until March or April, so be prepared for it. Unless you're at the end of your current lease.
JJ the Trucker no that’s fine, I ordered the peterbilt ultraloft, sunburst orange pearl effect I seen 1 and fell in love with it I plan to get the matching colored deer guard for it as well
Peterbilts are the best in my opinion but I'm not a big fan of the 579 I like the classic looking Pete's like the 389 but any Pete is better than a Freightliner
All the trucks are that way but the new ones are much better. The 2017 I drove was really loud. Needed a super Trucker headset. The new 2018.5-2021 models are much better and about the same as the Peterbilt.
Not sure if you've left Springfield but hit up my buddy Randy at sho me tint and he could probably black out your grill with vinyl, just the shell not the honeycomb.
I left out today. That's a great idea though! I hadn't thought of doing something like that but will definitely look into it. Thanks. Just wish those guys weren't so backed up all the time. Soonest appointment was like 3 weeks for my windows last time I called.
looking very nice JJ , it looks a bit smaller inside but it will be a better ride in sure andwe run a fleet of trucks with the mx13 engine and they pull well and the new gearbox has been improved , no quit and ishift in the volvo but getting there , regards from Great Britain
I run a 2020 kw t680 there are a few differences between the t680 and the 579 both are pretty good trucks. The only thing i dont like about my t680 is it has a mx13.
Apologize if a stupid question, but how is there not a dual rear tires, yet they come with dual tires on both axles, and the. they come change both the tires and wheels. Why is it that way? Doesn’t seem logical.
Good question. There are many advantages for super singles over dual tires. The number one reason is fuel mileage. Super singles get better fuel mileage than the duals.
JJ the Trucker - Thank you, I omitted a key word though. I meant to ask about the dual tire option... you said it wasn’t available. Why would it not be available when it ships that way, and the cost to change them.
Super singles if you have a flat you stop right there. With duels if one blows or goes flat you have another one to keep it off the ground so you can get to a place to have it fixed. I would never have super singles on any truck I drove.
Charles, that is literally the only advantage of duals compared to singles. But here's the thing. If the duals go flat or bow all the way apart, you can do that. If the tread is still hanging on after the blowout, you can't do that or you'll tear everything up. When singles get a puncture, they're more likely to go flat instead of blow out, and you can still limp them to a tire place. I've had that happen twice. To me, the many other advantages outweigh this one disadvantage that may happen occasionally.

Aww, c'mon... Truckers don't whine! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣😁😁😁
This truck got my vote, Loved it
You did the right thing by getting a peterbuilt.
The color of the truck really stands out and great choice going with the peterbilt
Thanks Scott.
Wow, that's one nice looking 2021 UltraLoft!!!
J. J. Congratulations again with new ride ,Health/happiness...
Thanks John
Many congratulations JJ ,,, 🎉🎉🎊🎊💐💐💐🍫🍫 wish you very best 👍👍👏👏👏💐💐💐
Thanks Mandeep
Oh that sucks! Yeah, I hope I have better luck with mine.
How much is the payment for this thing? Do you even make money?
Pffft... The payment is $1068/week and I'm making quite a bit of $$$ 🤑🤑🤑
And in 3 years, it'll be all mine and I'll make even more!
@@JJtheTrucker good deal, best of luck
Thanks Tulio
Nice peterbuilt truck JJ good luck with it safe travels 🇺🇸👍🏻🦅.
Thanks BC
Congratulations JJ! Looks Awesome! Can't wait for your review of the Peterbuilt and pros and cons between the two.
Thanks Matthew
Did he ever do a review of the two
To flash a driver when you get cut off the button is right at the end of the stem you were flicking
That button is to flash the marker lights. It's to say thanks to someone you just moved in front of.
To flash your brights, if the lights are off, push the lever down. If the lights are on, pull the lever up and release to turn on the brights and do it again to turn off the brights. What a PITA lol
I love the old PB's but Volvo are killing it right now.
The button on the tip of the signal stalk is marker interrupt for the trailer.
That other light switch is done light & ambiance lighting under your feet lights up the floor, one on the right is in the bunk area. Both lights should light up red. I’m used to the KW T680 I know the Pete is it’s cousin so I’m guessing it’s similar.
Yes it is similar but in the lights of Amber instead of red. I think I would have preferred the red😊
JJ the Trucker pardon my typos, dome light... amber?!😒 said okay I guess but yeah at night the red has a nice glow. I’m in a Volvo VNL 860 now so it’s like night & day.
You willl love it! I have the same one! In black! The ride is so comfortable!
Today was day 3 and so far, soooooooo smoooooooooooth 😊
I’d love to see a video with small clips that show an example of a complete day. From wake up to PTI, check in, drop off, daily errands and paperwork or phone calls to conduct business, repairs or truck stop, fuel, break, and whatever else. Most people do individual videos on different topics which I have learned a lot by watching, but I don’t think it shows the stress and long hours and everything all together because we watch them separately. Just a thought. Don’t want a 12 hour video but if it gave a update on each topic for a min or two I think it would make a great 30 min “day in the life of a trucker” video.
Yeah, I'd like to see a video of that too.😂
2 things you'll miss the turning radius of the freightliner and 2 swap those antennas for the cb they suck. The stock antennas dont have a large range
Turning radius, you're not kidding. Every U-Turn has turned into a 5-Point Turn!
The Freightliner wod turn on a dime and give you a nickel back. The Pete turns on a half-dollar! 😂🤣😂🤣
Good to know on the anntenae. I'll check some out next time I'm in Iowa.
@@JJtheTrucker most newer vehicles have less turning radios i keep seeing a pattern and its really unfortunate
The Freightliner and International still have really good turning radiuses.
@@JJtheTrucker I see people who own International and i think "why those are such crap trucks"
Kearsey loves hers
Prime is an awesome company
@JJtheTrucker how do I bypass the warning alarms on my 2025 Pete?? Like following to close and the lane change alarms
The dealership can make some adjustments to some of the stuff, or turn it off completely. IF you own the truck. If it's a lease or company truck, the dealership will need the owners permission.
I've been driving 26 years and I'm just now developing road rage bc of these alarms lol
@@JJtheTrucker well damn I was afraid of that thanks brother
Welcome to the Peterbilt club you will enjoy the truck. I went to Peterbilt when I was at Prime and have stayed with them. I will be talking delivery of a new 2021 579 ultraloft in the next week or two but the drive line is way different than what Prime specks.
Thanks David, and congratulations in advance. Originally tried to finance a truck directly from Peterbilt that was going to have the better Driveline, but that didn't work out. Are you going to be posting any videos or pictures of your new rig online? If so, please Put a link in the comments so we can all see them.
I was going to put pictures on Facebook and might do a short video on her but I will drop the like when I get everything up
Love your video man keep it up
Nice looking truck inside and out
Newest truck Iv drove so far in the 8 years I’ve been driving is a 2011 Columbia and I’m still in it.
If it works for you, that's all that matters 😊👍
Congratulations I just placed a truck order last night
Thanks Andrew, and congratulations to you! How long until it comes in?
And what did you order?
79tazman Freightliner classic with a Detroit 60 is good as a Pete Imo
@@RaceboyYT sound proofing in Freightliner’s is just horrible...
All the trucks are that way but the new ones are much better. The 2017 I drove was really loud. Needed a super Trucker headset. The new 2018.5-2021 models are much better and about the same as the Peterbilt.
@@RaceboyYT you know about trucks
Thanks Dardie. I'm sure I'll get accustomed to the smaller size.
That's interesting because prime used to let you buy the dual tires if you didn't want super singles
Yeah, now they only let you do it if you own the truck out right.
What is the biggest difference you've noticed vs your Freightliner?
By far, the biggest difference is the smooth ride. It's like going from a Yugo to a Cadillac
Such a beautiful truck bro.. Congrats 🙌
I run a 2020 kw t680 there are a few differences between the t680 and the 579 both are pretty good trucks. The only thing i dont like about my t680 is it has a mx13.
Awesome truck JJ. Congrats!
Thanks John
Apologize if a stupid question, but how is there not a dual rear tires, yet they come with dual tires on both axles, and the. they come change both the tires and wheels.
Why is it that way? Doesn’t seem logical.
Good question. There are many advantages for super singles over dual tires. The number one reason is fuel mileage. Super singles get better fuel mileage than the duals.
JJ the Trucker - Thank you, I omitted a key word though. I meant to ask about the dual tire option... you said it wasn’t available. Why would it not be available when it ships that way, and the cost to change them.
Prime is just really big on low fuel mileage and consistency within their Fleet.
@@JJtheTrucker . JJ What I speak of about the tires is not from just guessing, but from 17 years of experence .
Congratulations JJ!!
Thanks
I'm sooooooo happy for you!!!
Thanks Micah
Love the truck i think it might be better than the frightliner but what do you say JJ
Thank you. I think you're right, but I'm going to drive his truck for a while before I really make that determination.
Why do they make you use the super single ?
Fuel mileage, cost and safety
Beautiful! Again congratulations! Can't wait to see you out on the road!
Thanks John. I'll finally be on the road again this evening.
Aaaaaaah man that is quality!
