Unyielding depression, boundless rage & an epiphany of true sadness: Graham Mctavish getting no recognition for the Incredible range he shows in eight episodes is an actual crime.

This episode's finale broke my heart. "I'm killing our boy." As someone who lost his father a few years ago and have since become a father myself, I don't know... it hit hard. Grief and rage are powerful sides of the same coin and capable of wondrous destruction, especially between those you hold most dear.
A lot of people are confused when Dracula sends Issac to a desert to save him, but remember Issac lived in the desert when dracula came to meet him. In fact I'd wager dracula sent him to the same general location so Issac probably has a rough idea where he is, or at least as experience surviving in deserts
Also it was the safest place for him if any of the vamps survive or want revenge. A place with no shade day or night. Few vampires would dare cross a desert.
This show portrays vampires as they should be. The fight between dracula and alucard, how fluid and elegant they were, their speed, their power, how intimidating dradula was when he yelled out his name in anger. Just everything about it, easily the best portrayal of vampires to date
If you notice, Dracula bounces back and forth emotionally between a few things before ultimately surrendering to Alucard's perspective. He's in denial, full of hate and revenge, when it comes to Alucard and how they differ over Lisa's death. He's annoyed by Sypha's pesky magic. He's amused and sporting when it comes to Trevor. You can hear the smile on his face when he says "you must be the Belmont". So during the fight, he enjoys part of it, hates part of it, and is annoyed by part of it, showing his emotional range and volatility. In the end, he's confronted with the truth, and he finally accepts it. One of the best villains, fr.
I just love this show’s fight scenes their are always so creative and badass. Also Sypha is such a breath of fresh air. Seeing a mage out think her opponents on every level and being able to adapt to each fight is amazing to watch. Just love how Sypha incinerates the last vampire and walks away like it was nothing.
This show did an astounding job of making you care for Dracula in Ep 1. Like, this entire time I've been, "Dracula may be out of line...but he aint wrong though."
also the on who got frozen wasn't a ghost or smoke, she turns into mist and that's why she could be frozen. I don't know about the other games but in symphony of the night you play as Alucard and he can turn into mist so I think its just an ability that vampires can learn in the show.
Symphony of the Night borrows from vampire folklore. In lore, Vampires can assume the shape of creatures of the night (such as bats and wolves) as well as fog or mist.
The rage may have been out of his eyes but the mourning was still in his heart. He wasn't gonna stop. Humanity was still in danger. As sad as it was Dracula had to go.
An easy 10/10 episode. The opening battle, the battle with Dracula, and all the character moments in-between. And Dracula was fantastic. Everything from "You must be the Belmont" to "I'm killing our boy" just hit perfect. This is how you adapt a series.
I too was way more sad than I expected to be. I feel like Dracula could have been defeated but someone else would have died too. Rana is forever me, I wanted that throuple so bad!!
7:06 well... Now we know Sypha was not bluffing or exaggerating when she told Alucard that she'd incinerate him before his fangs could reach Trevor's neck when they first met. Jesus Christ she is incredible
Many people miss the little bit at the beginning of the fight when Trevor is laying out their plan. "I terrify them.." isn't a flex. Did you see how the vampires all stopped fighting when they entered the doorway. That's because Trevor is a Belmont. The Belmonts are rumored to have traces of holy based magic in their blood. The vampires can sense this and immediately afraid of it. It's what gives the Belmonts an edge in fighting unholy creatures. The rest of the plan is self explanatory.
I just want to point out that Godbrand mentioned that he didn't think Dracula had fed since his wife's death. This wasn't even him at his fullest and he was still an unstoppable vampire sorcerer that *_allowed_* Alucard to put him out of his misery. I've heard a lot of complaints of people saying that Dracula was horribly nerfed for this series. And while I would've loved to see how Warren Ellis interpreted one of his many "One Winged Angel" forms, there's just no way he wouldn't have broke the story and I actually thought it was kind of genius at how they provided an explanation as to why Dracula hadn't gone full demigod on the Human race.
Dracula tanked everything they threw at him with ease. If they didnt land on Adrian's room, nobody could stop him. He was absolutely unstoppable. Also, the "You must be the Belmont" as Trevor fully laid hands on thim. That is a nightmare foe to have
Like, this is still one of the most intense episodes in recent television - especially considering their budget and how well they used every single dollar! Castlevania is such a bloody gem, right there with Arcane as a forerunner of modern animation as well as video game adaptations.
I do agree that Dracula was the soul of the show up until now. In that regard i see not wanting to kill him. But it honestly woundnt make sense for any of the characters to just talk to him. And in terms of narrative im glad alucard didnt hesitate. Death to dracula was a mercy at this point Alucard knew this and Dracula realized that too in the end. Dracula just walking away after a father/son moment would feel anticlamatic.
Remember earlier in the season Dracula had to use his claws to write on the mirror, I think those were coordinates or something to tell it were to open. That’s why he sent Isaac to the desert, he didn’t have time to put in new coordinates.
What’s amazing about this show is the writer had never played a single Castlevania game and just spent hours looking at the Wiki articles for all the games. And put together his own story using elements from those wikis. Man did his homework and doesn’t even like video games and made a great show.
Almost everything is straight from the game on this one. From Alucard's wolf and mist forms, the music (bloody tears is timeless and was literally written as an 8 bit chip tune theme) to that last shot of them looking at the castle over the sunset. That's the image on screen when the NES game credits roll. Each game is hundreds of years apart and it's really cool they started with this fan favorite OLD 1989 NES game (Castlevania 3) in the timeline for this show.

Lisa wasn't Dracula's first major loss. Back when he was Mathias Cronqvist, a friend to Leon Belmont during the 11th century, he had a wife that fell ill and died while he was on an expedition for the Church. That was when Dracula came to be after disavowing God and used alchemy to turn himself into a creature of the night. That was also the time when the Belmont clan vowed to chase Dracula to the ends of the Earth to rid it of his evil. Dracula was right to be pissed at the Church once more after giving them another chance after the events during the 11th century. Once more, the supposed holy men had betrayed him and it cost him his wife Lisa. He's such a tragic villain, and the fact that he would later on be used to further other people's desire for power and conquest by resurrecting him just paints him further as a victim more than a villain.
27:19 Belmont, Sypha and Alucard felt like they should’ve been a throuple for real, trust me you’re in no way alone in that thought process Navi. But unfortunately someone on the castlevania team was a COWARD 😑
Yyyyeah, “throuple” isn’t the answer to “I wasn’t ready and was only able to _help_ my dad commit suicide.” Ya boy needed therapy, or the closest thing he could get, before that would have come back to the table.
@@alecLogan Obviously, but ‘the closest thing he could get’ as you said, would’ve been his friends! It would’ve been nice to see all three of them together just being them with Alucard having an emotional support system. @@kitasukirimi988 Not to harp on it, but I still don’ know about that. Case in point, Lisa was doing that exactly for Dracula, softening his edges, and losing her did _this_ to him. Never mind that we’ve seen the “average folk” be exceedingly ready to be rid of the last known Belmont and a group of Speakers (with the _one_ among this group an easy mark to consider a ‘witch’ by those that don’t care to learn), and Alucard himself is a vampire in a country recently besieged by vampires and demons. Speaking of, those are definitely still just _out and about_ , so even if they had stuck together (furthermore as a throuple), Alucard’s recovery would have taken (even) more of a backseat. TL;DR being, not that there’s no chemistry, but tactically, they had to split.
@@alecLoganThere was no ‘tactical’ reason, they split up because they had defeated the imminent threat and Sypha wanted to go joyriding through the country with her romantic partner. Also, you’re forgetting the fact that Dracula was a mass murderer for centuries and not just some dude who lost his wife. He himself said “that woman was the only reason for me to tolerate human life”, Lisa may have kept him happy and placid but he was always a disaster waiting to happen. Now in our hypothetical throuple scenario, we agreed that a relationship should only happen with an emotionally healthy and mentally well Alucard. So with that in mind, there would be no reason for him to snap if Trevor and Sypha were to die. He’d be devastated of course but he’d grieve normally and not just start slaughtering everyone in a nearby radius. Remember also that even when his mother got killed, he said “I grieve with you but I won’t let you commit genocide”. PS. Sypha and Trevor are very tough people, Alucard wouldn’t have to worry much about them getting killed in the first place. The three of them have bested armies and army generals alike, Dracula, and the literal personification of death. Sypha, Alucard and Trevor are together an unbelievable force to be reckoned with, as long as they had each other they could’ve handled whatever came their way. Also if we’re talking about them just passing away naturally, I’m sure Alucard would’ve already made peace with the fact that he would outlive them eventually.
issac was sent to desert cause dracula knows he can survive anything especially the dessert n if he sent him somewhere close he would have races back to the castle n sacrifice Dracula’s one final good deed
When he said "I'm killing our boy" all the happy memories he made with lisa along with their hopes and dreams for little adrian rush through his head. As a father that realization hit me pretty hard. 😢 Bloody Tears and all those game references are 🔥.
Broo! That line right there “I'm killing our boy!” broke me. He developed a heart when it came to his late wife, even though he got it back at the last minute there was someone there.
Bloody Tears (the song that was playing in the fight in the entrywway) is one of if not thebest audio for the Castlevania games. It never fails to hit!
Castlevania is fucking amazing. But does anybody else feel like when people get killed in this show, they're strangley quiet. Like they barely make a gasp after loosing a limb 😂
Here we go. Other people have already brought this up, but that epic track that playing, during the equally epic battle with the vampires, is Bloody Tears; that, alongside Vampire Killer, are the game series most iconic tracks. In Symphony of The Night, Alucard can transform into a wolf, a bat, and mist. That massive ball of magma, Dracula launched at our heroes, is called Dark Inferno; an attack Dracula's used in several games. And finally, most Castlevania games end with the protagonist staring at the ruins of Dracula's castle as "the morning sun has vanquished the horrible night"; except in this case they're staring at the Belmont estate.
this is also kinda the point in the show where I started noticing that for everything that this show has, it does NOT have a budget for voice actors who aren't any of the primary characters of the season or people who talk to them and forward the plot.
11:33 so, fun fact about Dracula's hell ball or whatever you wanna call it... That is holy magic, so if Alucard had put his hands on it instead of his sword, it could have done some serious damage and taken him out of the picture for a while. Dracula has such a variety of options and abilities that it's not even fair, if he'd actually been trying or wasn't literally dying of starvation, they'd have never beat him as they are right now Man could have turned into a Giant demon, a swarm of hellish bats, and so many different "what the f*ck am i looking at" forms that the studio would have ran out of budget
Yeah, I love that we spend two seasons seeing Dracula slipping further and further into his depression, losing that drive and fire he had in the beginning, but when intruders have broken into his castle and are coming for him, it all snaps back together and he goes full Dracula on them. We spent so long getting to know Vlad, this is the return of motherfucking Count Dracula... and even then he's not at his full power. As you said, a weakened Dracula was just toying with the trio. Only Alucard was really able to do anything against him and even he wasn't enough. If Dracula were at full strength or if he didn't have that moment of self reflection, the trio would have absolutely died in this attempt.
"But i am no ordinary vampire........I AM VLAD DRACULA TEPES AND I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!"🔥🔥🔥 GODDD!!!.............Goosebumps everytime. Peak voice acting❤

Bloody Tears and all those game references are 🔥.
It's okay, we still have Isaac the GOAT
Probably the best episode up to this point (Season 2).
Looking forward to what you all think of Season 3 and 4!
Season 3 episode 9 hype has started 😂
I know others have said it, but watching it go from a cool anime fight to an uncomfortable violent domestic dispute was phenomenal.
The scene with the trio storming the castle has got to be one of my favorites in the series and with Bloody Tears in the background, of course!
Death of dracula was so freakin sad
Definitely one of the best episodes of the series and a hell of a final battle. The way they resolve it though really is what completes it.
Broo! That line right there “I'm killing our boy!” broke me. He developed a heart when it came to his late wife, even though he got it back at the last minute there was someone there.
you guys are about to get into a journey that you will never forget, its going to get better and better trust me....
Bloody Tears (the song that was playing in the fight in the entrywway) is one of if not thebest audio for the Castlevania games. It never fails to hit!
When Bloody Tears starts playing, you know shit’s about to GO DOWN.
Dracula: What kind of maniac goes to throw hands at the prince of darkness... oh right you gotta be the Belmont
Castlevania is fucking amazing. But does anybody else feel like when people get killed in this show, they're strangley quiet. Like they barely make a gasp after loosing a limb 😂
The one and only (sadly) time in the show we hear Bloody Tears and i still love it!!!
Great reaction! What an episode! Dracula's death always makes me sad!
Dracula: What kind of lunatic goes to throw hands at the prince of darkness? Oh wait, you're the Belmont
Also Dracula: yup, definitely one of Leon’s kin
4:54 the bgm Bloody Tears makes this way more epic 🤘🏻
Dude when bloody tears started, i freaked out
I think the over arching message though...
Genocide is never the answer
Awesome finale lol! I had forgotten just how epic this episode was, I might do a rewatch soon. Definitely the best episode so far.
This was fun to watch. Ya'll are going to enjoy the next two seasons and I can't wait for the reactions.
The moment I was waiting for. Yall enjoy!😊
this is also kinda the point in the show where I started noticing that for everything that this show has, it does NOT have a budget for voice actors who aren't any of the primary characters of the season or people who talk to them and forward the plot.
Dracula's death in season 2 may seem anti-climactic and too soon, but it's necessary for what comes next 🔥
Your outfits and looks overall ate this episode ✨
Got so excited when i first heard Bloody Tears in this episode i jumped with joy. I love Cadstlevania!.
Next seasons of the show are epic
Definitely in my top 10 favorite action sequences in anime.
"Why is there a whole asteroid in the hallway tho"
Castlevania in a nutshell
Oh you are in for a surprise for season 3
The fact that this was released on UA-cam the day after Fathers day is so messed up
Sypha gets the most kills, and makes each kill look awesome in all her fights
Suraj you are hilarious my bro the best with accents and impersonation.
I swear, the first time I saw this and this version of Bloddy Tears came on? Let me tell y'all, I WEPT!!
Suraj has pigtails lmfao I love him…doesn’t look bad with the glasses.
11:33 so, fun fact about Dracula's hell ball or whatever you wanna call it... That is holy magic, so if Alucard had put his hands on it instead of his sword, it could have done some serious damage and taken him out of the picture for a while.
Dracula has such a variety of options and abilities that it's not even fair, if he'd actually been trying or wasn't literally dying of starvation, they'd have never beat him as they are right now
Man could have turned into a Giant demon, a swarm of hellish bats, and so many different "what the f*ck am i looking at" forms that the studio would have ran out of budget
Pat is like Garo from one punch man. He likes the villains( in a sense fallen heroes). I feel really bad about how sad he became at the end.
"But i am no ordinary vampire........I AM VLAD DRACULA TEPES AND I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!"🔥🔥🔥
GODDD!!!.............Goosebumps everytime. Peak voice acting❤
It's all fun and games until you hit Dracula in the chest with the Morning Star whip. I love how angered he is and stops holding back.
