Women can’t preach according to the Bible
Not as long as you have an image of Pope Francis the Heretic and supporter of leftist mass murder sitting on your table.
I just canceled my subscription
. I won’t support-Not when Patreon posts articles by MoveOn (George Soros Marxist organization.)Asked to sign petition to fire conservatives who believe the election was stolen-which it was-mountains of evidence the power structure is ignorant burying. This election was pure criminal by the Left-will the truth ever be brought to light? Probably not as Leftist Democrats NEVER have to pay for their crimes. Until they meet God, that is.
@@m-hayek1985 women can’t preach at Mass. there are plenty of great female apologist speakers. Women give wonderful talks at conferences and training, etc. I’ve learned a lot from women speakers, but still don’t want them preaching at Mass or any other “ priest domain.”
I constantly point out girls/women in scanty clothes and tell my grandsons NEVER DATE A GIRL WHO DRESSES LIKE THAT🤦🏼♀️
I think the number one thing is to move the tabernacle back to the center of the Church behind the altar. That is where the Lord truly belongs.
Deplorable, YES! YES! YES!
I think it’s disrespectful put the tabernacle to. The side put the tabernacle back in the center!
Why do you think it was moved to the side? I've been to 3 churches where it's off to the side, but its placement is part of the setup for the adoration chapel.
Yes, that is deplorable. I’ve made a comment about this to the pastors of three different Catholic Churches. I was visiting my daughter in Northern California and every church I went to had the same thing. The tabernacles were all on the side. One of the priests I talked to was a visiting bishop. This is how he responded to my comment. He said, but during mass we bring Jesus on the table. And I said, this is His house bishop and He belongs in the center of His house at all times, meaning literally and symbolically. Before I left I told him, I’m sorry bishop but what you said is not convincing to me.
And I started praying about it everyday.
In a matter of 5-6 months when I went back to visit my daughter and I went to the same churches I was stunned to see the tabernacles of these churches were moved to the center.... 🤭🙏😋
@@mike-cc3dd exactly. that's how my parish is, an adoration chapel to the side
About leaving early: my mom used to say if you were invited to someone’s house for dinner, you wouldn’t get up and leave as soon as you finished the meal so don’t leave God’s house as soon as you’ve eaten
Judas was the first to leave early from the Holy Sacrifice and he went out and hung himself after realizing the gravity of his sin!
Your mom gets it!!!
Put one Deacons at per door, to assist early leavers, 'to leave in in a holy manner'.
Or getting there late!
@@tlockerk Guarding the door, as in a prison? Thats a disgusting analogy.
This is a really unpopular opinion for some, but I’m a firm believer in stop holding and raising our hands during the Our Father
I agree, it is liturgically inappropriate. Drives me nuts.
And holding hands.
@@angelaosborn6722 Right, because in Heaven everyone is going to stand at least six feet apart and not acknowledge each other, so we best prepare appropriately.
I hate holding hands with strangers period and I’m so glad it’s not done during TLM
Yuck
Chatting before mass reminds me of people in a movie theatre waiting for the movie to start.
I bring my noise cancelling AirPods and have a prayer playing to meditate with, to block out the chatting.
@@bellini7229the point is, you shouldn't have to do that. It should be silent, even with a church full of people.
My top 3 are : being on cell phone, leaving after communion, immodest dressing.
We must have failed to teach our younger Catholics what modesty is. I have seen young ladies wearing halter tops and tube top dresses while wearing a veil. It makes no sense.
Clapping and talking before during and after
@YAJUN YUAN
Are you one of those lukewarm Catholics?
Immodest dress is so out of place. Girls in tight shirts , t strap tops, tight short dresses. Men in shorts and flip flops . Im a sinner so I dont want to judge but I feel for me I want to look respectful for our priest , congregation and Jesus. All the saints and angels are there also , we just don't see them
Yes
At 89 years old I will never get used to hearing Bongos,Drums and Guitars during Mass. Organ music is what I like to hear.
So do I and my parish of St. Joseph does and have an organ and that is played and there is also a grand piano and I'm not sure if it is acceptable
That’s one of the reason me and my family go to Traditional Latin Mass we love that organ sacred music.🙏❤️🙏
@@mariahmartinez3900 I also attend the Latin Mass. No altar girls, communion received at communion rail on your knees and only on the tongue, communion only distributed by priest, confession prior to mass, etc. Very beautiful!
@@carolstefan7662 Those Masses are like HAVEN on EARTH!!❤️
Organs were also not used in traditional masses. It used to be chant.
The nuns in my school taught us to pray with our hands together, fingers extended pointing to heaven & thumbs crossed. This was throughout the Holy Mass. No visiting with friends, etc. before or afterwards. No one leaves until the priest leaves, & the choir is done singing. We are there to worship
Our Lord and give thanks & praise for all He has given us.
The "choir" (it's more like a band) at the chapel across the street makes me want to run away instead 😞
I wish we still had those beautiful nuns in Catholic schools.
Which just only serves to underline the preposterous and totally Man made fabrication that ALL religion is😂😂😂 I cannot BELIEVE that anyone is deluded by this utter medieval nonsense these days - ludicrous!
I believe that parents should be able to teach their children how to dress for Mass, no one had to tell😢 me how to dress for Mass. We all know that Mass is Holy and commen sense tell you that it should be respected. I was away from church for many many years, but when I came back I knew that the house of GOD is a holy place and respect is in order. I just think some people think that going to church is enough, but you MUST dress appropriately. Respect has been lost in many ways and I wish and pray to GOD, that it finds its way back, starting at home!!!
One shouldn't be waiting for the choir to finish. ALL should be singing!
I went to a Lutheran church for my fiancé's niece's baptism, and they still use the Communion rail. I have seen a couple of Catholic churches do the same. I think it would be nice to bring back the Communion rail in more Catholic churches. 🥰
The Lutherans got that idea from the Catholic Church not the other way around…
@@RosanetteRodriguez-eq1kz , where did I say that Catholics got it from Lutherans? I literally said "it would be nice to bring BACK the Communion rail in more CATHOLIC Churches. Just to say Jesus is not sacramentaly present there at that Lutheran church in the host. That can o ly happen with a catholic priests celebrating a Catholic mass Please inform your family. I in no way mean to offend
I wish they respected the silent times in the mass, especially the choirs: stop singing without any silent time for quiet reflection after communion.
The communion song is suppose to help you reflect on the meaning of the bread and wine.

I remember coming back to Mass after having cancer and a young man next to be steadfastly refused to acknowledge me or shake hands during the Sign of Peace. So that was welcoming 😂.
It’s not kindergarten. Stop shaking hands, holding hands...in fact, get out of the Novus Ordo entirely! Get to a Traditional Latin Mass. Reclaim your birthright!
@@marilynrose7318 greeting another person and asking God to bless them with peace is part of all traditional Catholic cultures. In the Irish and German languages for example that is how you normally greet another person. Same for the Jewish people, same for Jesus. This is an acknowledged part of the Mass, reaffirmed by JP II and Benedict XVI. I will take my teaching from the Magisterium. May the peace of Christ be with you.
@@beautifulspirit7420 ......no, it was NEVER part of the Early Church.....you don't know or understand the things that have effected the Church over the past 50+ years......go look up BELLA DODD, and get hold of the book INFILTRATION by Dr.Taylor Marshall, published just last year......and then the book AA-1025, published by www.tan.com and you'll start seeing the Church in a whole different light......I love the english Mass, but JESUS has stated to at least one visionary that "the Latin Mass is the Mass of His Heart".....why would you go anywhere else, knowing that ? the "kiss of peace", whether you realize it or not, GREATLY OFFENDS HIM......along with being received in the hand, and eucharistic ministers.......MANY practices gleefully carried on as being so "forward thinking", OFFEND HIM !!!! altar girls, for instance, women on the altar at ALL.......the Holy Souls have had MUCH to say about the current practices in the Church.....go get a copy of GET US OUT OF HERE by Nicky Eltz, available at www.catholicfreeshipping.com maybe THEY'LL give you a perspective (now that they're dead and SEE) that will turn your thinking around.......the kiss of peace, by the way, offends Our Lord because He has just been Consecrated, and we have TRADITIONALLY in the Church, spent those moments ADORING Our Lord, not slapping each other on the back, talking about our vacations with the grandkids, and other nonsense I've observed over the years......isn't satan clever.......
but just for fun, since the ORTHODOX Churches can trace their heritage back to the APOSTLE who founded them, go attend a Greek Orthodox Mass and see if THEY'VE put a "kiss of peace" into their service, because ALL OF A SUDDEN !!! after 2,000 years, they all of a sudden remembered that it was part of the Mass of the Early Church ??.....IT WAS NOT......and the Greek Church HAS NOT put a "kiss of peace" into the Mass.....nor have any of the OTHER 27 Orthodox Churches that can trace their ancestry back to the apostles.....and if you read Bella Dodd, and AA-1025, ok, and INFILTRATION, maybe you'll finally Get It.......
(do you REALLY believe that the overwhelming abundance of pedophiles and homosexuals in our priesthood "just happened" ? or it was a result of "celibacy" gone awry ? it was not.......but you'll need to do your reading to understand........)
Twelve years ago I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. My symptoms worsened over the next few months, and there were times after my release from the hospital that I had to leave Mass early. The worst was when I had to leave after the eucharistic prayer and missed communion. My symptoms have been under control for several years now. Please be considerate that someone may have no choice but to leave Mass at times, including near the end. I know I am not the only one with the only reason, so my sympathies for others who have to make this hard choice. God bless us everyone.
I also have urinary issues and there are times that I have to get up and take care of a medical issue.
So true, some people can be very critical and judgemental. Bless you.
Yes, that's something we need to consider out of charity. Not leaving Mass when urgent symptoms flare up can be disastrous, and much more embarrassing than leaving when the need arises. It's actually more considerate to leave than not to leave under those circumstances, and we should be thankful for those who are respectful enough to do so. We should also pray for them -- those kinds of physical conditions are miserable and often hard to control. I wouldn't wish it on anyone!
@@jrnfw4060 Thank you for understanding.
The conversation about people leaving early isn't meant for those who have emergencies but for those who make a practice of running out every time they attend.
I thought I was the only one who was uncomfortable with these things. I’m so glad to see there’s an awakening to these issues.
My old priest used to say there were 3 separate blessings after communion and the end of Mass.
He used to say, “I’m not sure about you, but I can use every blessing I can get.”
Great comment
My mother said to all 5 of us, "You are going to see a king, you should dress like you are going to see a King, Jesus Our Lord."

I have heard , "What if Jesus comes back while you are at church?"
1 more thing that i would change is bursting into song right after communion. When we are in the most personal space with Jesus. Soft music is ok. But i need time in prayer.
ABSOLUTELY!!!
YES!!
Absolutely! The devil HATES silence
Absolutely!
Hymns are prayers.
I am a revert after 40 years away from the church. One of the things I couldn't understand in the other churches I attended was the lack of reverence for being in Communion with Jesus. After returning to my roots, I needed to learn about the Euchrist, and what I found has touched my soul at every Mass. I believe I feel when the Holy Spirit changes that host. Many times, it puts me in tears. At first, taking the Host ny tongue felt better, but I felt the need to show my reverence by keeling with or without a kneeler. I am an Eucharistic Minister, and I question if I should be administering this sacrament. I am in awe and truly believe in His presence. I wish we would kneel at the altar in our church, but I will do what I feel led to as long as I am physically abke. 🎉
Hi, I’m turning 70 in a few months and I still wear veil and kneel down with or without a kneeler when receiving the most Precious Body and Blood of Jesus as an act of reverence. It is sacrilegious to receive communion from Eucharistic Ministers because only the priest’s hands are consecrated and anointed for the greatest miracle that Jesus instituted upon His 12 apostles!
Find a Latin mass. It is reverent.
Keep questioning....You have NO CONSECRATED HANDS. The truth will set you free.❤😢
I still kneel after receiving Communion. It is my way of expressing gratitude and humbling myself before our King. Newer Catholics say kneeling is demonstrating a self holier-than-thou attitude. They weren't thinking that when we were all humbling ourselves by kneeling.
Growing up in the 70s, I became used to the traditions of kneeling at the Communion Rail, the Ringing of the Bells, both in the Bell Tower and during the Eucharistic Rite, being quiet prior to Mass starting, fasting 1 hour before Mass, going to Confession weekly, lighting REAL candles, dressing properly and respectfully (no jeans or gym shoes), waiting for the Priest and the Cross to leave at the end of Mass, before we left the pews, and all the other things you gentleman covered in this video. There is something to be said about tradition. There seemed to be more reverence for the Mass, and the fact that you are in God's House, back in the 70s. We have lost much of the traditions and reverence and it breaks my heart. Mass is just not the same.
Yes. The pope is trying to keep up with the times to get more young people into the church. I believe there’s a way to and still keep the traditions we grew up with.
Changing verbiage of important prayers is killing me! Now there's talk of changing the Lord's Prayer to remove "lead us not into temptation " to something else because Jesus doesn't lead people to temptation....how did that become a thing? All it means is to guide us from temptation and deliver us from evil. That needs to stop because I won't change how I pray !
@@juliemccauslin5807 nobody says you have to. I’m not doing it either. I prefer the traditional way. I prefer the old traditions to the new. I think we should go back to women covering their heads. They look like doilies. The mass was more revenant back then. I know you have to change with the times to try and get young people to come but come on. Just like I prefer the apostles creed instead of the nicine creed. It’s got alot of verbiage in it that doesn’t need to be there.
@@Nancy-uc2tu I love the Apostles Creed!! I also agree with wearing head veils! Wonder how many of us are out there?

People leaving early before church is over. Also, one time I was in church and there was this family with two boys. The two boys were acting really immature such as laughing to making fun of the deaf interpreter. After mass, my sister went over to the mom and told her, but the mother didn’t do anything except defend her boys and how good they were. If you’re going to church, be respectful to God and other people praying.
according to the Church, it is actually a venial sin to talk in Church, and can become a MORTAL sin, if you, the talker, get pissed off at the person asking you to be quiet and respectful......I had one woman threaten to punch me in the face for asking her to be quiet and stop talking.......go figure.....
Amen! I’m in the choir and I’ve always believed in staying until the last song is finished! But people race out of there as soon as the procession ends. Very disrespectful. What’s the darn hurry?
where is you christian compassion? who knows what that mother is going through, or her boys. Ar least they were there. Keep your nose out unless you have walked in her shoes.
@@LisaGemini I once saw a priest put up a notice in big letters by the exit door of his church which said 'Judas also left early'.
Everyone in the congregation stayed till he left the sanctuary!
@@tomstenzel4271 ........you know, Tom, I've witnessed and HEARD more screaming children behaving badly whose parents do absolutely NOTHING to address their child's behavior, so don't play that "christian compassion" card........same people, same kids, each week.......and even the priest says nothing from the pulpit to address the issue.....and this goes on even in the "quiet rooms"........so, REALLY ?!!! you must be deaf, or you don't attend Mass very often, if you think that interrupting the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass with screaming kids, and kids running up and down the aisles, is ok......and should just. be. tolerated. I say absolutely NOT.......I'm old enough that I've gone through several generations of young people becoming parents, and apparently, ones who have no clue as to how to conduct even THEMSELVES at Mass, let alone their children......I'm remembering one young man about 30 yrs old, who came running down the aisle and lept 2 ft up in the air and came landing down in front of a child, to apparently make the child laugh......and THIS was in a funeral Mass !!! and I'm sorry, but I certainly DID correct him after the service was over.......so maybe YOU'RE the one who needs to correct their thinking in this matter, NOT this young lady......and why in the world would you believe for one minute that this mother should have just let her children continue to mock the deaf interpreter ?!!! what ? do you think the interpreter didn't notice and feel bad ? maybe Holy Mass means nothing to you......maybe Holy Mass doesn't mean ENOUGH to these parents that let this go on........
Playing music after receiving communion is a distraction and not giving enough time to pray silently after receiving our Lord....where is that one?
I dont like singing during communion. Sometimes a quiet piano piece is played and that is beautiful.
If you've got distracted when praying, then you're not praying well. Don't criticized the choirs singing in communion. They're singing for the congregations who queueing and receiving the communion. Communion hymns are part of the mass.
They continue to play the same hymn we sang as we took Eucharist. I can’t say I never get distracted from my prayer, but not always. I’d rather have that song in my head than whatever my husband played on his radio start running through my head as I’m trying to pray.
I am with you there.
Hymns during mass coincide with movement of multiple people. Processing, presentation of gifts, communion and recession. It's to help cover the distraction of the noise made by this shuffling around. As a music minister, I do respect the desire of the parishioners to pray after receiving the Holy Eucharist. More meditative hymns should be sung during this time. The purpose of the ministry is to enrich the mass not be a distraction. The Holy Bible does multiply reference God wanting us to worship Him in song but reverence in musical selections is important as well.
Holding hands during the Our Father has always been an annoyance to me.
There's nothing that says you should or shouldn't. I grew up with this method. Holding hands brings the community even closer together uniting in prayer. Personally, I get a little miffed when someone doesn't want to hold hands because again it's about coming together in prayer not standing apart.
I think holding hands during the “Our Father” is Jesus’ Church standing firmly together. We are His family.
It’s unsanitary and grosses me out in context and physically.

I don’t go to Mass to talk to the people in my pew. I remember as a child being told you are here because you were invited to the house of the Lord this hour is for you to converse with him!! I can’t tell you how many times (I always arrive early to light candles and pray) and I have started the Hail Mary over and over because the people there are speaking nonstop in their regular street voice. Be respectful for those around you!! I miss the pomp and circumstance I miss the respect, the quiet, the peaceful, and the feeling of God’s presence! Sometimes I feel myself getting so angry about those around me that I feel guilty for that and I wonder sometimes why I even go! I want my time with Jesus to pray to ask for forgiveness to ask that he leads me and asked that I will recognize his voice telling me his plan.
When that happens to me I assume it's cause those people need my prayers
I could not agree more.
Amen
8:30am mass, get there early and sit if the first 5 rows. I'm younger, but that's where all the old widows sit. Nice and peaceful. I get seated 30 minutes early, and it's quiet.
I say good morning to the people around me. Always. Love thy neighbor.
I will say that I run out of time for my prayer after receiving Christ. I would like more time for prayer and reflection.
I agree on the time element. Consider staying after mass for a bit.
Then sit up front so you get the host very early and have lots of time to pray.
I think it is very disrespectful to see people chewing gum during Mass. I can't imagine what they do with it when receiving Communion! Another thing I find lacking in solenmity is seeing people casually walking up to receive Communion, hands by their sides, not folded in a prayerful gesture.
Complete silence as soon as we receive communion. We want to be with HIM !
No talking in church before mass and after . Wait till you get outside
@@ral3190 Two elderly women sitting two rows behind me talked and laughed constantly before mass, so I couldn't concentrate on my absolution or saying the Divine Mercy chaplet, which I like to say before mass.
The nuns told us in Catholic school it was a sin to talk in church. One church I went to had a sign saying no talking, to show consideration for people who were praying.
The one time people clapped at my parish was when our priest rightfully called out our supposedly Catholic governor for supporting abortion. Yes, I know it isn’t necessarily right to clap but so many priests are afraid to call out evil and hypocrisy when they see it.

I’m a musician (pianist) and I hate it when people clap after mass for us. Because as a musician, I do it to the glory of God and He’s the reason it sounds so good because he’s given me that talent anyway. It’s so uncomfortable. You can go up to a musician afterwards in private and tell him/her that their music helped you worship God better. That is always kind and loving and appreciated. To put it into perspective, If the music is world-class, but doesn’t help promote worship, then that defeats the whole purpose.
The man in the middle is so legalistic! Stop being so critical! Not everyone is a good homilist. Women played an important role in the early church.
I have the same difficulty in my church Julie 😕
Pianos were not allowed pre V2
Can we quit with the congregational singing? Catholic congregations cannot carry a tune in a bucket.
Your comment is helpful to those who may not understand that clapping is inappropriate. We always had a nun playing an organ in the balcony, but that was years ago. I am not familiar with the clapping phenomenon and appreciate your thoughts to those who may be new or unaware.
Before I became a catholic, I was at church, and the pastor told the congregation to remember to turn their ringer off, and if they needed help, ask the nearest 10 year old.

German Nazis have infiltrated church Pope Benedict was one...10 is German Nazi age of accountability...likely was boasting to Nazi attendees they can count on him for their war movement.
I went to Mass for many years and every time someone's cell phone would ring, every time. Now I go to Latin Mass and have never heard a cell phone since. There is much more reverence in the LM.
yes! Amen
What our church does before Mass when they make the announcement before the celebrant comes in they tell people to please turn off their cell phones and no texting during mass that seems to work quite well just a suggestion that you could offer to your prieststo say

Reverence has nothing to do with the language. I could count on one hand the number of times I have heard a cell phone ring in an English Mass.
Bring back the altar rails. The faithful should kneel when receiving the Body of Christ.Only the priest should handle the host.Communion should be received on the tongue. This would bring back reverence .No talking, clapping.Collection could be done before Mass or after, not during Mass.

When I used to complain about a boring homily my Mama would say “the number one reason you are at Mass is to receive Jesus”. As an adult I pray before and sometimes during the homily for the Holy Spirit to fill the Priest or Deacon with HIS message. Even if it only touches one person that needs it the most. When we believe in the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist we receive everything we need during Mass! 🙏🏻
Yes, it's true about Jesus in the Eucharist but the Word of God is of EQUAL importance. Shouldn't we want to understand His Word and the unpacking of the Gospel message and all readings.
Jennifer C RN yes the word is important too but learning the bible can be done in classes at church. I love a great homily like everybody else but I am there for the liturgy. I pray for the Holy Spirit to speak thru the Priest to those that need it most right before and during the homily.
Not true.
Respectfully disagree with the statement that the reason we go to mass is to receive Jesus.(i.e. Eucharist). The reason we go to Mass is to worship God on high through the highest form available to human beings provided to us by Christ's Sacrifice. We enter into that sacrifice to worship Almighty God. Receiving the body, blood, soul and divinity of our Lord to be nourished is the second reason.(provided we are in a state of grace)
The "Sign of Peace" is a nightmare for introverts. People have already greeted one another at the start of the Mass. Please stop forcing us to greet everybody around us. It breaks up the flow of the Mass.
My large parish in Cincinnati has reinstituted receiving kneeling at the altar rail and it moves very smoothly. It actually moves very well.
Imagine that, it was the standard since Trent, but somehow now it's a problem?
I am hoping and praying it leads to Tridentine Mass in the near future.
How large is your parish? And do the Communion Minister distribute at the rail as well?
Tristan Paul The parish is very large. Only priest gives out Communion at the rail along with deacon. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are used at the back of church where people still receive standing.
@@janeremillard4571 2 at the rail for about 500 people? How fast does it take?
As per leaving mass early! A beloved priest once was very disturbed about the heightened instance of this in the parish. So, he began his homily one Sunday, asking parishioners if they could "talk" for a moment. He began with this question: "How many of you here today have ever cheated on your spouse?" Of COURSE no hands were raised. He asked again, highlighting how in this particular church, everyone was considered "family". Still no hands were raised. He thought for a moment and offered THIS: "Those of you who have been unfaithful, may leave mass early this morning!" Needless to say, at the end of mass, no one moved! 😉

1 When at Mass your conscious is invoking the Holy Spirit .Clapping is breaking your conscious contact with God .At the end of the Mass its okay to clap and celebrate Childrens First Communion etc.The Church is for praying not talking .A regular update on what is happening with the money be open about it .What the Priest does with his money thats his own business .Its not a good idea to shake hands peace be with you when the flu is about .We should be told to cross our hands and just say the words .When giving a Sermon relate the meaning of the Old and NewTestament and Gospel .Teach us how to handle resentments ,Teach us how to pray .Teach us its okay to be angry ,Teach us about grief .Teach us about how we get to heaven .Teach us to live with our bad relatives .Teach us how to defend our faith with all these sex problems the Church is having .Bring the bible into peoples lives in a practical way.Teach People to pray in the Church in silence .In the case of alcohol and drug addiction refer them to medical profession and you will pray for them daily .Have a member of the Church in the front office so the Church can be open for people to pray in through the day .These are just a few suggestions .I would like for Priests to study Psychology so they can seperate the Medical Problem from a Religious Problem and guide the faithful to pray daily if they can when they have these problems .Try not to fix the world but try and help Catholics who are having a hard time money ,abortion ,alcohol and drug problems within the family ,Catholics with disfunctional families .Familes that cant afford to go to Catholic Schools ,The Priest may need to refer these people to Catholic Professionals .The Priest is the Shepard we are sheep when one is lost he goes and looks for us .I love going to the Mass and the Church to pray its the greatest gift we have in our lives .
Oh yes that's a big one!
I see young girls with low cut blouses and extremely short dresses. The priest can't miss seeing down her blouse. I would like to see the priest deny communion. That is the only way to take a stand.
I totally just found your channel and I so agree with you:1) enough already I refuse to go to common people who will be out partying then giving you the Eucharist… nope nope nope I will walk all the way around the back of the church and take time to go to the man who gave our mass… preist
2: seriously church is not for applause time, not for talking politics, not for trying to spread agendas … it’s not time to sell Girl Scout cookies people….
People need to realized that when you walk through those sacred doors you need to give your heart soul mind spirit and all of yourself to praising Mary Jesus Joseph and doing the rosary and prayer for those departed…
3: Attire… people need to check themselves at home before walking out the door… seriously ladies and men…Mass is not a pickup scene we are not a on an evening out … check your clothes if you’re falling out of them and they look like you’re heading to the rodeo then it is not proper attire…. Covering yourselves… have some respect for yourself and for the building you are entering to…. You’re not heading to the gym….
Ohhhh I can go on and on but I’ll stop there…. For now but look forward to listening to your podcasts and videos…be blessed.
As a former Protestant, I say don’t let anyone except the priest give the homily. The gift of preaching is not the gift of speaking. It is a faculty received at ordination and any priest who prepares by prayer and study will be used by the Holy Spirit even if they aren’t great speakers.
This ^^^
Also a deacon can preach
The deacon is fine too.
Deacons are given that faculty as well. But I think only deacons that are properly formed should preach. We have too much watered down theology being preached as it is.
I think Deacons may give the homily too.
As an Anglican convert, I have always felt that the place where the Peace is nestled is a distraction. I would prefer for it to be taken out of the Mass completely, or in between the Liturgy of the Word and of the Eucharist around the offertory. Same thing for the announcements. There is hardly any time for thanksgiving and silent adoration of the True Presence before Joe walks into the Sanctuary and tells everyone about the pot luck.
Go to the traditional Latin Mass
Kneeling during the Our Father and do not do not Shake Hands
Our pastor has been eliminating it altogether and it's such a relief.

Back when I was a child and a lot more Catholics were going to mass the priest was the only one to give communion, so why do we need all of the Eucharistic Ministers?
I ensure the 'line' I get into is with the actual Priest, and not the Deacon. I cannot take the sacrament yet, as not baptized yet, but when I can I shall with the Priest.
Have church sizes and populations increased? Making it seem like there were more people before?
We don’t need them.
Good question
Where in the Bible does it say you can't partake of communion unless you are baptized?
Infant baptism is non Biblical ! Jesus was 30 years old upon baptism!
Baptism is an act of obedience! It does NOT SAVE! BUT IT IS IMPORTANT!. I WAS BORN A CATHOLIC AND BAPTIZED AT 6 MONTHS!
I became a Christian at 9 and was baptized upon understanding what baptism meant!!
There is nothing in the Bible that prevents you from communion once you accept and ask Jesus into your heart! That is the ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN, NOT ALL THIS MAN MADE RITUALS!!
Watched alot of these videos for my first mass today. What did I see? Tight leggings with small tops on women, jeans on men and women, super casual, no one sang at all even though it was offered, people came in late and loud, a couple of people came in late only in time for communion. I'm glad that his Holiness, the Pope wasn't there incognito as a secret parishioner, because I think he would have been disappointed in the lackluster of the congregation. Thank goodness for the woman I shared a pew with in the back. She was happy to see me, offered herself as my mentor, helped me through the mass. She was a true angel and I will be happy to see her next Sunday.
I know nothing worse than having to stare at a voluptuous ass and a fantastic pair of tits for an hour ask the men you'll find at least two would agree with me
Our priest had a sign by the door “Judas left early”.
Ya know... I'm seriously tempted to do this on all exit points of my parish, myself... ;)
@Jake Tappert No. But that could easily be a difference of parishes. I tend to go to mass in the city so it's alot of childless people leaving before the mass is done.
@Jake Tappert I would certainly rather people make it to mass than not go at all. Even if that means leaving early or not dressing as nice as some would like. I'm not one to judge, just meerly pointing out that it's not just people with children leaving early.
@Jake Tappert ......NO.
I love your son's guitar playing.
Once you walk into church there should be NO talking before and after mass until your outside. Aloud others to be able to pray until they are finished.
I was at a Franciscans monastery
It was a full crowd The priest barely dips the host into the blood chalice. Everyone got the body and blood. The priest was the only person touching the host/blood

People who come to church dressed like they’re going to the beach in shorts and flip flops or girls wearing low cut dresses that are really short should not be allowed. I’ve seen that many times.
I heard leaving before the final blessing was a venial sin. True?
The bells during mass, since ancient times let the congregation know: this is important!
The Tabernacle belongs on the High Altar! The Holy Mass is Christ Centered, not human centered!
Chris McWilliams Is the Tabernacle at your church not in the center? It doesn't seem right to me, ours is right in the center underneath the Crucifix of our Lord. I like it because you can see it from all over the church. That really should be the standard, our priests sit to the side, they aren't the focal point God is. We have bells too, I wonder if its only in certain parts of the country we see this. I live in N.C. our church is wonderful, and it has grown significantly. It helps we have wonderful priests. God Bless, I will continue to pray for all our Catholic Churches.
Our Tabernacle is centered on the High Altar right below the Crucifix as it should be in a Traditional Catholic Church.
Churches with the tabernacle in the center are rare. Vatican 2 changed it to the side slter
I like the bells, they've been rung for centuries. The standard seems to be one ring at the epiclesis, three rings during the elevation of body, and three rings during the elevation of blood.
Chris McWilliams I am coverting to Orthodox, the bells are run during Divine Liturgy. It is incredible!
Kneel when Prist bless us. It is Our Lord's Blessing we are receiving.
I started going to Mass again about a year ago after being away for decades. I showed up wearing a shirt, tie and a sport coat. I was a bit taken back by people showing up wearing flip-flops and shorts, men included. When I last attended Mass everyone dressed for it. I spoke with my friend about it later and she dismissed it, saying it was Florida and that was just the way things are down here. I still show up every week wearing my tie, even though there are only a couple gentlemen who wear suits and ties.
I don't judge but it is a bit disheartening. I figured if Jesus took the time to invite me to His banquet the least I can do is dress for supper. Like the man here said, if all you have are jeans and tee shirts, okay, better to attend than stay home because of some dress code. But if you have the ability to buy a shirt and tie, why not wear it. It sets an example for the young people. That is the thing. A lot of the kids who attend Mass dress in their school attire, and they look better than a lot of the adults.
Maybe I was just raised in a different time. When I was a kid, if a grown man showed up for Mass wearing sandals, shorts, and a tee shirt, he would have felt more than a few eyes wondering what his deal was. Call me a stick in the mud I guess. I'm easy to spot though. One of the ushers was telling another that I'm a regular at 11:30 Mass. She said I was easy to spot because I always sit near the front wearing my jacket and tie. I sit near the front because my eyes aren't what they used to be, but I dress appropriately because I was raised that way. I know a lot of the men in my parish were raised that way as well. I wish they would remember that.
It’s still exists if you go to a traditional Latin mass I just started going and it is a world of difference there’s even a dress code and everyone dresses up!!
I make it a point to dress up a bit for Mass, not to show off, but because I feel I should present myself in the best possible light before God. As one parishioner has pointed out, if you won't dress up for God, you won't dress up for anyone. That's a bit of a radical judgment, but I get her point. God loves us all, and He will love those who show up in jeans, T-shirts, flip-flops, etc., but I just feel, for myself, that I should give Him more. Also, I was raised in the 1950s, prior to Vatican II, and everyone dressed in their Sunday best for Mass, and I like to continue that tradition.
I see the same at my church in FL. I 100% agree with dressing appropriately for mass, not flip-flops, bare midriffs, shorts and the like. I know Jesus looks at the heart, not the clothing, but would these wearing casual clothes dress that way if they were going to the White House to meet the President? They're going to God's house to worship Him, so clean up and dress appropriately.
All through my childhood we had 'Sunday clothes' - which you changed out of straight after Mass - but at evening Masses in the Cathedral there were men coming in from shift work and far from 'smartly dressed' - but they were there - Jesus called them and they came - how could that be anything but what He wanted?
I remember my dad saying once, "If you were going to the President's house you'd wear your best clothes. You're going to God's house when you go to mass."
On a trip in France, the priest prepared his homily and it was printed in the bulletin,it saves people who are hard of hearing, accents that are hard to listen to etc I thought it was a great idea.
That's a good one. There may be more than just 15, anyway it's hard to put them all in order of importance but personally, taking communion not being in God's grace or having mortal sin is on top. The issue is, not all Catholics know if they're in mortal sin. And I somehow see too many especially the kids receiving the host as just part of the drill. Our church is not big on Bible Studies unlike the protestants and .most especially the born agains. The study of our faith is left to our discretions.
We had that in a church in Florida, the homily was printed out and handed out before mass an d the priest with african accent read it at homily.
What about chewing gum in church and then still chewing after communion
It's very sad to see how our Faith is being taken from us by our current Pope. The changes that are being made is not true Dogma
The Greeting of Peace and holding hands during the Our Father again make the focus horizontal and not vertical. Get rid of both.
The sign of peace is recognizing our Christian unity and commitment to one another. Jesus said "peace, my peace I give you." We just echo his words. However, the orans position (hands out with palms up) is not prescribed when praying the Our Father. Hands folded in prayer is the only proper position. Check the Rubrics. It spells out how to celebrate mass, there is adlibbing. FOLLOW THE RULES
@@georgemoomaw2244- I read somewhere recently that the act of holding your arms out with your palms up is only supposed to be done by the priest. God bless!
Well said😊
Yes, you need vertical and horizontal. Thats the Cross. You are part of the body of Christ with your brothers and sisters of the Church. YOU need to accept and open to that. May be the greeting and holding could help you or other particular people. Let the Spirit do the job.
Agreed.
Here at UST in the Philippines (Santisimo Rosario Parish) there is a sign that reminds the faithful to refrain from clapping after Mass. I commend them for upholding the reverence for our Lord.
Put the tabernacle back were it belongs
Kimberly Riddell Read Hebrews Chapter 8. The NT teaches the true tabernacle is in heaven. That’s what Jesus, Peter, and Paul all understood.
Gospel Nomad Girl try reading the Early Church Fathers. There is one church one faith one Baptism
Kimberly Riddell Sweetheart, I have. You are quoting a Bible verse. And that is our standard of testing all doctrine and truth. So since there is just one church, one faith, one baptism. May want to get back to the OT and NT and the teachings of the apostles. The church -ekklesia- means the called out ones. Called out of darkness and into light. Called into salvation. The Jews weren’t saved just because they were “sons of Abraham”, they still had to accept Christ and get baptized. Neither is one a Christian simply because they claim to be. The church isn’t a structure. The church visible-is a Catholic idea. It’s the Holy Spirit who lives inside of us into which Jesus is building us into a temple of living stones and He is the chief cornerstone, Head of the Church, and High Priest in Heaven. And the baptism of the apostles. The Bible teaches a parent can bring the baby to the church to be dedicated to the Lord, like Mary and Joseph dedicated Jesus as a baby. But in order to be baptized, one needed to be hear the gospel, repent of sin, accept Christ as their own Savior, and be baptized. The word for baptism literally means to immerse. Why? Because we are baptized into His death and resurrected to new life. The water is a symbol of the grave. So no babies, no sprinkling.
YESSSSSS!!!!!
AMEN Kimberly. . The holy sacrifice of the Mass. Thats why I love the Old latin mass. One felt close to God. Now its hells bells! Catholics must be re-taught about our faith.
"Renew your faith by attending Holy Mass. Keep your mind focused on the mystery that is unfolding before your eyes. In your mind’s eye transport yourself to Calvary and meditate on the Victim who offers Himself to Divine Justice, paying the price of your redemption.”
- St. Padre Pio
and he was referring to the TLM
We have 5 people with birthdays; clap! Another baby Baptized; clap! Someone has an anniversary; clap! A soloist sings a beautiful Ave Maria; clap! A new class made its first Communion; clap. I'm so sick of ignoring Jesus.
Eucharistic ministers take longer than just the priest and altar boys distributing. And it would go faster if we had altar rails.
Teresa Baker-Carl just go to the original Latin mass...you won’t see that there..I grow closer to our Lord during the high sung mass.
Follow the rubrics at all times. Please. why do the priests leave the Sanctuary for his homily..
I second that ...clapping has to go! This is not a concert or a community meeting. Mass is about God. No saying hi or introducing yourself to the people next to before mass either!....do it outside church!
Wow! So true i hate it too.
So the priest announces birthdays and such? Thankfully I’ve never seen that but I attend a Latin Mass 95% of the time.
An excellent programme/website. The genuine Roman Catholic Church must be restored and modernism eradicated from liturgy, theology and the church in general.
I’ve been to Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Keller, TX with my daughter and her family ( 4 grandchildren )
And so impressed with the signs on exits - “ Judas left Mass early” Makes you think!!🙏🙏
My biggest heartache that bothers me is seeing people going to receive Jesus with hands in their pockets or dangling at their sides, or worse, chewing gum 😥😥. People - this is your Lord and Savior !! Fold your hands and give Him all your reverence, as you go to receive and going back to your pew with Him in your heart 🙏!!
I thought people chewing gum was going to be one of the 15 things...
I don’t think Jesus cares if you are chewing gum, or with hands in pockets. He was against ceremony. It’s in the word.
Walking With Purpose is excellent. I am so grateful for Lisa and her studies, definitely has brought me closer to my catholic faith.
The gum chewing is awful. Since we believe we are receiving Jesus, it's extremely disrespectful. Do you think He wants to share your mouth with a wad of gum? He is then chewed into that gum!
@@PJPeterson-x1u
You don’t understand the Eucharist then. It’s the true body and blood of Jesus Christ. Not to be taken lightly but with reverence. Chewing gum is not reverent.
I think having the Rosary before Mass is helpful for more silence.
When will people stop praying to anyone but GOD? Totally UNBIBLICAL!!
@@cherylrawlings8875 So, for the 1.2 billionth time, Catholics do not pray to anyone but God. Catholics believe that those who are already in Heaven can also converse directly to God. So just like many non-Catholics do here on Earth, we ask for our fellow believers to pray for us. We just believe that those in Heaven can also pray for us too. And who better than Jesus' own Mother, who he had a special relationship with. And we also believe in the Biblical concept of the Gebirah, the Queen Mother, a Jewish tradition that the mother of the King held a very special position in the court. And that his mother - the Queen Mother or Gebirah, still holds this position in the Eternal court of heaven. So, please STOP with the "Catholics" pray to Mary. Cause that's not what they do - intercession of Saints (those already in heaven) is just another way of asking people (dead people) to pray for you.
I totally agree
@@cherylrawlings8875 BTW rosary is not praying to Mary but Praying with Mary to Christ.
Or through Mary to Jesus Christ.
@@cherylrawlings8875 wrong dumb dumb. The Catholic Church put the Bible together so I think we know better. The book of Revelation shows the saints worshipping God, singing hymns, playing instruments, making requests to Christ to avenge their martyrdom, and offering prayers for the saints on earth (Rev. 4:10, 5:8, 6:9-11).
In a dream, God commanded King Abimelech to ask Abraham to intercede for him: “For [Abraham] is a prophet and he will pray for you, so you shall live” (Gen. 20:7). When the Lord is angry with Job’s friends because they did not speak rightly about God, he tells them, “Let my servant Job pray for you because I will accept his [prayer], lest I make a terror on you” (Job 42:8).
James says: “Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects” (James 5:16-17). Thus, according to Scripture, God wants us to pray for one another. This must mean that prayer for one another cannot detract from the role of Jesus Christ as our one mediator with God.
Try to not be so stupid. It is annoying.

Communion in the hand-it is Our Lord, not a cracker!
Not donating /offertory is a nonsense claim. I donate online so I pass the basket on at mass. Someone judgmental (ahem…) might think I did not give an offering. False witness anyone?
I prefer it my way because I have always had a problem with handling cash during mass. It reminds me of the moneychangers in the temple.
The rest of it I sort of agree with but taking the Host on the tongue and sharing the chalice spreads disease, as does hand shaking, so deal with it.
Lastly: when the consecrated hosts have been removed from the sepulcher (it’s not a tabernacle) for the mass, then genuflection and bowing is directed towards the altar, as we are venerating the body and blood of Christ, not the box it was stored in.
Thank you! Even at 1.5 speed I couldn't watch the whole thing.

Bingo!
Same equivalent as Fr Ritsh of the Catholic talk show!!! 😀
Yep, the masses where there is a rail always seem to be far more efficient when it comes to communion than those without. And more reverent too.
I think we've opened the sacrament to scandal and sacrilege in its current form. If you go to a Latin mass 20 min is normal and there's no possibility for sacrileges because no one can take Jesus home in their hand or drop him by accident. Kids prefer it as well. At least mine do. We sit in the front and it's weird having everyone bump you walking by when your praying

Before we went to Sunday Mass our mother gave us a strict warning ! We were perfect young ladies every Sunday morning or else! Love & miss you mom !
And the rest of the time?
The two things that hurt me the most during Holy Mass are: the manner how women (young and old) wear provocative dresses inside the church AND people who start leaving the church after communion without waiting for the priest's final blessing.
I akso saw men entering the church during Holy Mass. Without saying, I approach them with respect and politely ask them to please take off their hats and thank them with a smile.
Some dress like they are doing to a nightclub. Young men with saggy butt jeans, hoodies. Never OK. But, when the church insists they wear their best this is what you get. I worry more about their general attitude, on their phones, children playing games with tablets, bringing snacks for children and coffee for themselves.
Is it necessary for men and women to wear shorts at Mass?
Should they dress like this: 🥷
Oh my! They should know these things?

Sorry father, no applauses, period. It is when we begin to feel moved to start allowing for exceptions that things start to go wrong.
When our priest is away on a spiritual retreat or vacation, we have a retired priest for daily and Sunday Masses. At the end of his stay with us, after the last Mass. we do applaud. Many of us also meet with him outside and thank him personally noting a particular homily for example that touched us.
someone actually interrupted my silent prayer before Mass on two different occasions. i was a bit bothered but didn’t say anything. a few weeks later she actually apologized which i appreciated. but there is way too much chatter and socializing before Mass.
I agree. I try to get to Mass a half-hour before, so I can pray the rosary, and other prayers to get ready for Mass. The commotion caused by people chatting, coming in and going out is a huge distraction.
@SalKnight686 I can't think of a better place to pray the rosary than in front of the Tabernacle, with Jesus inside it--except at adoration with Him in the monstrance.
I always sit in the front pew so I can be closer to Him and all the distractions are behind me.
I come to mass 30 minutes early and I put in my earbuds and listen to Gregorian Chant and pray silently. It's so crucial to be in the proper frame of mind and to be prepared spiritually for mass.

Be remind of what is right and what is wrong. Thank you
Our parish is thriving despite an overly casual standard of clothing and a decline in religious affiliation in our region. Our music is so polished and well known that it attracts both new worshipers and many nonCatholic music lovers.
Our liturgy …including the big team of trained, robed,
well groomed, highly efficient servers…of both sexes…can serve a packed house in about 10 minutes, so that the big crowd at the next mass …2 hours later…can get in.
Our ONE priest…loved by Catholics and the entire city…is famous for short, Scriptural homilies.
A troubled, disheveled person seeking communion would have a companion on his walk to the altar…a trained mental health RN who has worked in the locked ward at the public hospital for 30 years.
And you want to keep girls away from the serving team..
Any time I have heard applause has been for a homily that touched the hearts and minds of the faithful . I believe that such homilies are are given to us by the Holy Spirit via the priests and his willingness and openness to the Holy Spirit. I taught 8th grade in a catholic school and many times I was amazed by the words I used to explained various points to my students. Never did I think I was wise, but rather blessed by the Holy Spirit to teach these precious teens in a way they could understand & hopefully carry with the throughout their lives.
I like applause at Mass when a child is baptized. It is a way to acknowledge a new soul in our midst.
Before and After Holy Mass---DO NOT TALK. Let others have the silence to pray and prepare for Holy Mass.
Should only be soft organ music, chant or silence during communion and for at least 5 min after; for contemplation and prayer.
no talking at TLM
Yes!
and people don't tend to know this, but it's a VENIAL SIN to talk in Church, and can become a MORTAL SIN, if, perhaps, like what happened to me, a person threatens to PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE if you ask them to stop talking again because they're interrupting your prayers, and OFFENDING Our Lord in the Holy Tabernacle.......

I used to Cantor for the Mass, then the clapping happened after the Mass. I spoke with the music director about it and how to get I to stop. A beautiful memory. I love this time❤️
After communion, kneel and pray
Ay, I want to start off by saying, I don't want to sound like I am just picking on what you are all saying. First, letting laypeople preach and do the homily is a big NO-NO! You know who else does that, protestants ( no offense, ex-protestant here for 20 years). As the years go by, I keep noticing that some Catholic churches want to look more and more like protestant churches. The music, the preaching, the talking before and during mass. The tradition of the church is not just an old school thing, it is what separates us from this modern Christian religions.
I am 62 my dad died in a car accident when I was 4 1/2.
One of my childhood memories of him is being in church and him receiving communion at the rail.
My Parish uses a mini kneeled. I think it is the one used during weddings. It works beautifully. Older people who can't kneel don't have to. But most of us do.

I cringe at the sign of peace. One of the churches I frequent - the priest omits it (but I still see people smooching one another). Eww
They need to move it to the beginning not right before Communion.
And especially because people don't understand the intention. Don't wave your fingers at me. It's disrespectful.
If you feel the sig of peace is important, do it directly after the priest reaches the altar, prior to the sign of the cross.
It’s supposed to be, keep your hands in prayer, close eyes nod and say May the peace of Jesus Christ be with you, pray their sins are forgiven, this is what we’re supposed to do!
One option for avoiding almost everything bad in Mass is attending an Eastern Catholic liturgy. No hand-holding, no hand-shaking, no Hillsong-style silliness, but much reverence and solemnity.
Or TLM!
Any of the traditional forms is a game changer
I cannot believe that Pope Pops pro claimed that Mary was the coredeemer of the faith. This is terrible theology. Mary's last days were spent on irag or Iran. Her final home is on a tour when you travel there. It is a small humble house and she lived there. She was not taken up to heaven as co_redemtrist. She was a very young Jewish girl when she had Jesus. The Catholic church portrays her as a taller blonde Scandinavian usually in blue. Her baby looks fair, with blue eyes and a Scandinavian look. Get real. She was probably short dark curly hair and Jesus probably looked similar. Saying the rosary over and over seems to comfort many people. Jesus is the one and only redeemer of the world Mary is not. The bible speaks about vain reposition. This is a real example of that. I meant reposition. The church, over the years has set up many things that are man made and not appropriate. Many people seem to need these things like small children need stuffed animals. Use your own brain and think for yourself. I have gone on too long. Be a Christian, but think for your self. This could change your life and your faith. Bruce
I must say I agree with you. As a student of Medieval Sudies I was invited by my professor to the Orthodox Church. I witnessed, was part of and appreciatef the solemnity.
I wonder if the standing for the entire Service largely contributes to the focus, silence and solemnity.
Standing; comfort is miniscule and discourages conversation and other"freeness"!
If I had a traditional Mass in my area I'd go in a New York minute.
No announcements during mass. That’s not what it’s for.

Thank you for mentioning giving food for donations. My husband and I live on a fixed social security income and we give what we can at the beginning of the month when we get paid, but we have chickens, ducks and quail and I give eggs to my priest and the food bank.
A priest at our parish used to speak of tithing and giving consists of time, talent, and treasure. You give of what you have, not what you don’t have. He explained it more extensively, but the message is people give in different ways and all are needed included those who can only give prayer. Think when something bad happens to us, the first thing we think of is to ask for prayer. I wish you lived near me, we could trade our goods
God bless and keep you and your generations.
I must confess, I struggle with tardiness. I am so sorry. And, during the Eucharist, is it more appropriate to receive directly to the mouth or in your hands. I just had done what everyone has done, but I have also just received directly.✝️💕
I have been in crowded Latin Mass and we kneeled without any problems. It moved smoothly and everyone received our Lord from the priest. I prefer to not take communion from hands that are not consecrated even at my parish.

People who go to the latin mass are being disobedient to the Holy Spirit.
@@Anon.5216 How so?

Same. I only receive from the priest
We could gain several minutes for communion by doing away with the hand shaking sign of peace which is so distracting during that most solemn time of the mass.
Debbie Stuttgen I think its a common feeling, my daughter would always try to escape to the bathroom untill I caught on to what she was doing. I think our society today isn't as open and sociable, but the original church did greet each other with a kiss, so I guess it could be more awkward. I don't mind it, I have shaken the hands of some really old folks that come to church alone, I figure it may be the only kind interaction they have all day. Just give it up to God as a sacrifice. God Bless.
The sign of peace is one of the dumbest things ever!

Preaching at mass should be only done by the priest. I agree just train your priests. I don’t want to hear a lay woman preach to me. I think if you do that, you will lose more people, especially men!
If that happened in front of me, i ll throw my heels direct to her
I absolutely do not want a lay man to preach to me and mine .. only a Priest and Deacon have that authority.
@@roseluz1765 simply and respectfully give your pastor a copy of canon law listed in GIRM, which requires that a homily can only be given by a priest or deacon.
langebrenda I think the priest should be the only one to give the homily. He is the one to tie the Epistles and Gospels together , the Old and New Testaments. It is an opportunity to teach. I think the retired Priests would be happy to mentor and share their homilies
I've never seen a lay person give a homily. Ever. Where does this happen at
I’m an old-fashioned Catholic and agree with all that you said. I loved the old Mass and grieve over some of the changes that came after Vat. 2. Blessings.
Find a Latin Mass
I miss the old Mass too. Too casual now, and not reverent. And there is no Latin Mass near me, is there was I would go.
Also need to get away from receiving communion in the hand.
I'll agree to that, but I'm not receiving communion on the tongue from a lay person.
Yes you are correct. It plays on my conscience. But at the same time the early Church received in the hand and secondly I would rather receive in the hand because of hygienic reason, that is why I dont drink off the blood.
Actually the early Church did receive in the hand, BUT they did so with a veil over their hands as to not touch the Eucharist with their hands. Big difference...
@@jazzg373 So lets have the veil over the hand and not on the tongue. I think the veil was because of the lack of showers in the old days.
Plus I recently listened to a talk with Dr. Taylor Marshall where they reviewed the actual transcripts from the exorcism that the movie the Exorcism of Emily Rose is based on a d a demon that spoke to the priest said the he, meaning the demon was responsible for the receiving of communion in the hand.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Yes parents please dress properly. No shorts No mini dresses showing your butt. No letting your kids play on your phone. beat your children into submission?
I remember a man who went to the priest after mass and complained to him about the lady saying how scantily she was dressed, she had a mini, etc. Then the priest said to him "And you did not move"?
Oh boy, wait till you got home? I don't think fear should dictate our faith life. But it does explain why some older women look like they want to beat my children if they dare make a sound or move during Mass. I mean, it's how they were raised, has to be okay, I guess?
The sign of peace should just be taken out altogether, or have it at the beginning of mass.. or at the end.
Another thing our old priest used to do was make us hold hands during the Lord's prayer. I HATED that. I would tell people I was sick, cough and sniffle go get out of it sometimes. ( I suppose I should have gone to confession for that 😂😂)
it shouldnt happen maybe he needed someone to hold him up
That priest is horrible
You obviously don't understand the deeper meaning of the kiss of peace.
I refuse to touch strangers hands that I just saw cough or sneeze into them moments before. I’m a nurse and I will smile politely , nod and then look away.
@@maryandersen5176 then you go right ahead then.
The reason we go to Mass as Catholics is for one reason: To receive the Eucharist.
I used to get all upset about all the “other people” in Mass doing this or that, or babies crying, gum chewing, inappropriate dress, people leaving Mass early, the music choice, the priest was too liberal or too conservative, the priest was too orthodox or too charismatic, etc. etc.
And then I finally realized, control what you can control, focus on the Mass, do not look around at others (do not judge), your negative thoughts about others only takes away from YOUR Mass experience.
Everyone needs to stop arguing about hold hand during Our Father, don’t hold hands during Our Father, receive only on the tongue, receive only on the hand: there is no official Church teaching that forbids any of it. Our area has many Churches closed, few going into the priesthood, less Mass attendance like all around the country. Be grateful that you have a Catholic service you can attend. Many around the rural areas or other countries have NO MASS they can attend. Shaming others may only drive them away from Mass for good. The Evil one tries to divide, deceive. This constant Mass rubric bickering is just another way he (the evil one) divides us. Always be positive to anyone attending Mass, it may be their first time, (or their last if getting a bad look or word from you).
Recall the story that follows:
Story About A Man Whose Cell Phone Went Off In Church
A man went to church. He forgot to switch it off and his phone rang during prayer. The pastor scolded him. The worshippers admonished him after prayers for interrupting the silence. His wife kept on lecturing him on his carelessness all the way home. One could see the shame, embarrassment and humiliation on his face. After all this, he never stepped foot in the church again.
AND
That evening, he went to a bar. He was still nervous and trembling. He spilled his drink on the table by accident. The waiter apologized and gave him a napkin to clean himself. The janitor mopped the floor. The female manager offered him a complimentary drink. She also gave him a huge hug and a peck while saying, “Don’t worry man. Who doesn’t make mistakes?”. He has not stopped going to that bar since then.
people with the gift of public speaking can do well as presenters of catholic teaching outside of mass. During Holy Mass please keep it to those who receive holy orders
Really wish more Catholic schools, seminaries, and Churches would watch stuff like this and use it as inspiration.
Thank you so much for your comments about not talking in church before mass. It is so hard to pray with all that chatter. I go to mass early to say the rosary and I have to speak it loud enough so as not to hear their conversation. Priests often don't want to offend anyone so don't say anything.
That is one of my main distractions since I moved from a Carmelite church in CA to Las Cruces New Mexico. Even the sign of peace is a major social activity with people that will walk around the church to loudly greet family & friends.
Another loud distraction is when most of the congregation is slamming the kneelers up & down for every movement & your foot gets fractured from the kneeler dropped on it without a care for the other person sharing the kneeler.
Priests should remind people to avoid clapping after the homily and after mass!!
It’s absurd that priests don’t call it out and correct the congregation!!
Keep mass holy!! We are not in a concert!!
I am glad to see a resurgence of traditionalism. I am in my 50s and all I have ever known is modernism. I feel like I have been cheated in worship.
I just started attending the TLM the last nine months I thought the same way! Why would they take such a beautiful revenant mass away from us. None of these issues happen at TLM.

The paragraph on Muslims begins with a declaration that the church "regards with esteem" Muslims, and it goes on to highlight our shared faith in God, who we both affirm as One, merciful and Creator; Muslims' praiseworthy endeavor to submit themselves to God; their reverence for Jesus and Mary; and their commitment to prayer, fasting and almsgiving."
YOU are INCORRECT.
Who could ever be worthy? Not possible. There have been times when communion is the only thing that got me through the week. I took, not because I was worthy but because I was desperate.
Need to stop reading announcements during Mass. Only before Mass starts.
Or the very end
I attend the TLM every week. Most people are aware that the TLM administers Holy Communion exclusively at an altar rail. At the parish where I grew up in Philadelphia, the altar rail gets used at every Mass, TLM and Novus Ordo. The use of the rail streamlines this process. I wish more parishes would make use of this old-school design feature.
I agree about the Sign of Peace! When I do attend the Novus Ordo, I try to sit far away from other people so that I can avoid participating in the Sign of Peace because I find it so distracting. If I do have to sit closer to people, I'll kneel immediately after the priest finishes the prayer that immediately precedes the phrase, "Let us offer each other the sign of peace." Probably rude, but I'd rather spend that time in prayer before receiving our Most Blessed Lord in the Eucharist. It is quite refreshing to attend a Novus Ordo where the priest chooses to omit the Sign of Peace.
For the love of all that is holy and blessed, please entreat parishioners to stop holding hands during the Our Father. The symbolism of the "Orans" position is the priest gathering all the prayers of the faithful gathered at Mass, and bringing them to the altar to be offered to God. Be like young Fr. Pagano serving Mass in Italy.
I hope we go back that everyone kneeling to Jesus when receiving the holy Eucharist.
Jesus Christ is in our system for twenty minutes we need to kneel and talk to Him about anything and everything and give thanks for our blessings
It’s the priest’s duty to shepherd his flock. He needs to be the visible head of his congregation. If he passes off his duty of preaching, especially to a lay woman, during Mass he gives the appearance of abdicating his own authority. It’s a shirking of responsibility. Furthermore, it blurs the lines between the roles of the priest and roles of the laity as well as the roles of men and roles of women. We are not interchangeable and neither are our roles. The Mass is lead by the priest, the homily must also be lead by the priest. It’s his job it’s his responsibility.
@Don Balladurio Not true, I believe it's usually mistranslated. There were women who helped in baptisms and other events where it was seen to be immodest for the male priest to do. But a women would never enter the sanctuary.
Deacons are In Catholic church male. And a male deacon can preach
@Don Balladurio There were female deacons in the early church but then they realised the mistake and got rid.
@Don Balladurio (@ANDREW SHEFFIELD)
Female deacon's HELPED in baptism but did not baptize.
Here's some quotes from Pope Francis: “the formulae of ordination for the [female] diaconate found until now are not the same as for the male diaconate and are more similar to what today would be the abbatial blessing of an abbess.” “There were deaconesses in the beginning,” he added, but the question is whether “it was a sacramental ordination or not.” “What is fundamental,” the Pope explained, “is that there is no certainty that there was ordination with the same form and finality as male ordination.” (And this from our Pope who supports divorced Catholics to receive the Eucharist.)
Greek diakonos means servant or minister. The word was used to mean just that, many places other than the ordained deaconate. There were women who served the church and ministered to people. There are lay women who do that today and there are lay men who do that. Anybody who brings the Eucharist to the home bound is serving and ministering.
Take a look at Romans 13:4 NAB. "for it is a servant of God for your good." In Greek the word is διάκονός or deacon. This paragraph is talking about obeying those in authority. Was the emperor of Rome a deacon too? Was Nero also an ordained deacon? Before the NAB it was translated minister.
The deacon's main task is not to proclaim the word of God but to serve and minister. You could also translate deacon as table waiter. At Mass they serve at the alter helping the priest. They are to proclaim the word of God, yes, but so is every Christian.
From the GIRM 66. "The homily should ordinarily be given by the priest celebrant himself. He may entrust it to a concelebrating priest or occasionally, according to circumstances, to the deacon, but never to a lay person." The deacon is ordained to serve the priest and bishop and must be given permission to give the homily. You would have to say then that his primary task is to get permission from the priest to proclaim the word of God. Or, "One of the main duties of deacons is to [GET PERMISSION TO] read the Gospel and preach".
It is also not true that Vatican 2 brought back the permanent deacon, it never went away. Just because a deacon becomes a priest doesn't mean he stops being a deacon. Once you are ordained a deacon you are always a deacon. We always had permanent deacons, they just most often went on to be ordained priests. Not only did they not add the permanent deacon, but they almost entirely got rid of the sub-deacon and all 4 minor orders. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minor_orders
Yes, we have many great female teachers of the Church and have many faithful, holy, good at speaking women now. And they should use their gifts and graces to proclaim Christ. Just because someones good at something doesn't mean they deserve a platform to use it or show it. And more than that it is immodest and wrong for females to even enter the sanctuary let alone give homilies or be ordained.
@Don Balladurio
ALL the early records concerning the actual role and duties of "deaconesses" is as assisting at female baptisms, etc. They were never the female equivalent of deacons. The modern push for deaconesses has more to do with feminism than restoring a former historical practice.
