Great pointers there, the first one I ever made was nuc size but about 6 inches deeper ( by mistake ) and that one works great, and you're right about location, doesn't really matter where you put it if bees are around as they have great sniffers and will find it.
I set out my traps a couple of weeks ago and I've been seeing red wasps checking them out. I'm afraid that the wasps will start building nests in them. Have you had that problem?

pcdubya Thanks!
I put 1 frame with a piece of dark brood comb and the rest are set up as foundationless and a few drops of lemongrass...works every time
what if I don't have brood comb? can I just rub some propolis around the box to get that bee smell?
david blag That will help some but the brood comb really is important
No I’ve never had any wasp ever move into my traps. And there’s plenty of them around!
Educational, thank you.

Can I set a trap near my own hives if they aren't in swarm mode, or willI just have my own bees move across?
Andrew Elman yes no problem
