Well done and beautiful old stoves! I never knew about integral ovens being built in.
Boiled linseed oil is rather a lost secret these days. All shovels, axes and such used to be treated with it, handles and steel. It was still being used on military rifles through WWII.
When it comes to the used rags...I have an old metal coffee can that I keep in the garage. When I have oily rags, patches with Hoppe's solvent, boiled linseed oil, etc., I throw them in the can and find a spot to put it in the back yard and I burn them. I feel better deciding when rags are going to catch fire rather than having chance decide:)

Never knew you could use it on anything but wood. Now I have a new thing to try.

    Hi Bill,
Love you videos! I wish you would use the boiled linseed oil on a green stove. It is very difficult to see how it works on the bare rusty metal. Many more modern green stoves have rusty spots in the high heat areas. That is what I am dealing with.
    Thanks, Robbie

I'll take that into consideration. I've got a rough 417B that needs to be preserved and just might make a video doing that with BLO.

A good idea I am curious how it will hold up to use and how often you will have to reapply.

As long as you don't leave it out in the weather it should last indefinitely. As far as heat goes, I used 2D on camping trips all summer and didn't see any degradation in the coating.

Those stoves are awesome. They turned out good. I have an old dietz vesta that I put boiled linseed oil on and it’s still holding up good. That been close to three years ago. Thanks for sharing.

Nicely done. BLO is the way to go. I used it on a #2 stove. People don’t believe that the paint is original. Mine took about a week to dry. I learned the hard way to spread it thinly! I put a pic on postimage
