Standing it that yard with the two crosses gives me goosebumps because in a very real sense the modern Irish Republic began there when the leaders of the 1916 rising were shot. They were hopelessly idealistic and their rebellion was a shambles that was doomed to failure before it even started. The rebellion didn't even have much popular support. However the treatment of the leaders galvanised public opinion. When they were shot one after another over a period of nine days the mood of the Irish people changed dramatically. It led to more clinical and effective rebellion that eventually led to the withdrawal of Britain from the South of Ireland. The men who died in that yard were brave, idealistic and a bit foolish but I owe them the fact that I am a free citizen of a republic who owes no fealty to any King.

My grandfather was incarcerated in Kilmainham Jail. I also did the tour and I learned things I never knew. Thanks for doing it.

I just found your videos, you guys are hilarious. 😂 I live in Cork and great to see you enjoy our little Island of Ireland.
When you were talking about moving here, were you serious? Things are quite expensive here, especially accomodation as their is a housing crisis here. Overall I think its a great place to live though, the people are generally pretty sound.

Hi! Cork is such a beautiful place!! Hahaha just half serious 🤣 It’s just that both of us really enjoyed our time in Ireland and it got us thinking about how nice it’d be if we could spend some time living here. It seems people keep to themselves but yet so welcoming, friendly, and genuine!

We wanted to visit here when we went to Ireland but didn’t have the time. Looks like an interesting time. The East Wing looks quite haunting. Loved how you filmed this!
