My experience dealing with Tesla so far. (body shop/dealer perspective) Tesla’s service/parts side is absolute trash, They just don’t have the service/repair aspect ready yet, not enough dealers, build quality is iffy, parts program is a joke and if you need to talk to someone on the phone it’s nearly impossible.
Same experience here
"Not goin to reveal the shop" XD love this humor.
Whooooops!
Nope!! That’s Top Secret information!!
Over $5,000 for that VERY MINOR damage is Insane!
I agree!
IMO I think most repair shops quote exorbitant prices, because they can & also to squeeze all they can put of insurance..
They’re dishonest!!!!! Very dishonest!!!
@@MegaGyalis so true!
Few hours ago, i got rear ended with my 1 week old model 3 performance Blue. Only damage is the rear bumper. Im debating between fixing it myself (out of pocket) or go thru insurance and leave a ding on my Carfax. Repair or bumper replacement shouldn't be more than $1500
Crazy how many issues you have had to deal with! Hope everything gets fixed!
I am just wasting time
Good video 👍🏿 it’s good to let people know what to look out for
Thanks!
Wait.. I thought you said the insurance only covered 1700 and this went upto $5k did the guy who hit you pay for difference? Or did you fight your/their insurance to give you more? I'm in the issue here so trying to figure out what did you do?
Son’s brand new Model 3 Performance was rear ended in September. Still in the shop. He’s had to pay for gas for five months in a rental. Do you think he would have rights to claim for those costs with his insurance? The shop is so slow. Tesla is so slow to finish their part of final tests. Also how do you measure the diminished value. How has that claim gone for you?
Sooo sorry for your experience Tommy
Ehh what can you do. Thanks !
I had a similar side swipe issue, on the opposite side of the my Model 3.
That service, covered by the other drivers insurance company cost 6,400 bucks.
And the work took 6 weeks.
I loved that car, fun to drive, safe. But the Tesla repair costs are ridiculous
I guess I got lucky!
Great video my new model S LR front bumper and hood was side swiped my only two options is Tesla bodyshop in clarkston mi or Ferrari dealership bodyshop was think Ferrari dealer probably will do better work was wondering what’s your advise if any for me
Ferrari all the way!
Good deal Tommy i hope you get it straight
Thanks!
1:05 "I'm not going to reveal the name of the shop because I don't want to call anyone out" 😂
Hehe
Quality control has diminished considerably in the automotive industry. Sad to say.
Yup!
I just received my MYP Feb 22. I hear a clicking sound coming from my right rear wheel area, chademo super charger does not work with my car, my driver side window rolls up and down at awkward times, sonic will not load on my screen, glovebox usb says not plugged in but it is. I ordered a pet liner for my back seat it got lost in mail and Tesla has not responded.
But we still love driving it !
Not the video I wanted to see before dropping my MYP 😂 Now I am going to bring my magnifier when I come back to pick it up
Definitely!!!
Sorry to hear this Tommy. It’s amusing how all the Tesla lovers make excuses and defend their beloved EVs when you share your numerous bad experiences in such a short time. Bring on the real car content - BMW and Porsche. 🤘
On it!!!
BMW's aren't any good. Tesla only been in the system for not long. BMW been in car industry for long and still can't make reliable car.
Lol bought my car in December, Zero Issues so far… perfect car.
People act like Tesla the only manufacturer that does recalls or have issues, they’re new & actually improving.
At least they contacted the customer to fix the battery rather than wait till god knows…
The Tesla service guys don’t really address certain customer concerns, & that area really really needs attention. We’re paying over 50 grand for these things, we don’t need to be told that the charge port not closing flush is a new design & is up to spec lol 😂 service department is FOS
Parts are hard to get for everyone right now.. we’ve known this.
Also the shop that fixed Tommy’s car is just a shit shop… which is roughly 80% of repair shops.
They overcharge & then they half ass the job. Annoying!!!
Lol......
Thanks for proving my point. 😂
Tommy this is a great "real world" review of what people can expect in the normal life with this brand. You get the pro's and you get those con's for sure.
Thanks for watching!
Tesla has bad customer service, but they are lucky customers like us still like their products and keep coming back. Own a Model 3 and have a Model Y on order.
Very true!
I've had 5 different cars in the past 10 years and unfortunately, I've had bad luck with most of them. Luckily, none of my 5 accidents were my fault so I didn't pay for any of them. Each accident were taken to different shops and each repair had its flaws. I guess what a colleague told me once is true: "Once your car has been in an accident, it will never be the same again."
Very true
Tesla service in Springfield NJ is horrible, has been for years. I go to Princeton now and they are a little better. And the local paint and body shop they use sucks too. I had a paint chip at delivery. They had the car for over a week and when I got it back you could still see a blemish in the area the chip was.
One day we will see each other in Morris county driving around Tommy! Same color and performance as well!
maybe!
I had my side swiped Red Model 3 fixed at a certified body shop. I paid for the parts ahead of time and once they were all in, the shop had me bring my car in. I needed a new driver’s door, not just a skin. I had a big dent below the door and scratches in the front fender. They painted and/or blended the whole driver’s side of the car. The whole job took 3-4 weeks plus 1 week to get the parts. My entire car was wrapped in clear paint protection film. My insurance company took care of everything. This happened to be in March when the whole state was locked down just days after I dropped my car off. Luckily body shops were deemed essential businesses, but I never touch my rental car and just hid out at home due to medical reasons.
Seems like you came out okay in this situation
@@TommyLGarage I picked a great body shop in San Francisco, Califonia
@@TommyLGarage The exception would be if I wanted to sell and the diminished value. In today’s market it wouldn’t be much in a private sale.
Had my M2 repaired at BMW certified shop and body work and paint seemed to be ok, but clear coat was apply poorly. Just so happens that the car has to go back because when the glue cured (had quarter panel replaced) it shrunk and there are visible lines in panel. When I went back, the bmw dealership shop told me the glue had been recalled…..So, certification doesn’t mean perfection. Certification means they can fix a big wreck properly. Finish work is finish work…
Well said!
Thanks for your honest review of Tesla ownership. I've been trying to pair an ev to share road duties with my 911 and replace my current ICE commuter but Tesla just doesn't seem worthy of my hard earned money at the present. The build quality is not acceptable to me. Especially after owning several German brands as a comparison. You have encouraged me to wait for the German ev's to catch up before I take the ev plunge.
Lol sometimes there’s a rattle, but the driving experience is amazing… buy the car, experience it for yourself. You may end up never even wanting to drive anything else.
I agree...driving the car and the charging network are both amazing
Have a 911 and just got a Taycan CT4 for my daily driving. Best experiences ever. Skipped the Tesla because of exaxtly the stuff TommyL notes. Service and Quality is trash and good luck getting any attention outside a sales center I hear! Hope they improve as they get more and more EV competition from the big boys!
Man Tommy, this car is just pure bad luck from day 1. This makes me not want to get a Tesla.
But it drives amazing !
How is it possible that this $5,200 repair didn't include a new bumper? Last year my daughter scratched a friend's Model Y on the rear bumper (similar damage to yours but only on the bumper) and the entire bumper was replaced for $850 by Tesla SC.
Also, I got rear-ended in my MYP last October (yeah, not a great year for me and Model Y's, LOL!) and the repairs that included new lift gate, upper and lower bumper, one side panel, and an impact bar came out to around $6,500. Your repair cost seems really high.
It’s the shop!!
I'll have to go back to the shop
Spending $5200 on the repair and getting this crappy craftsmanship?? I would take it back and complain!
Oh I will for sure
Damn! I hope you get it straighten out no pun intended.
LmAo I see what you did there
@@TommyLGarage but no pun intended - okay maybe a little 🤣
I've had 3 teslas and have never been impressed with build quality. Welcome to the club. Stick with Porsches and BMW's. Ha ha
But this is the best daily
$5,200 for the ski trip scratch is crazy
All the flaws after the work was done would have burned me up
Did you notice at the shop? or after you got home?
I picked up after hours so no one was there
I will consider getting a Tesla, once they get they're service and build quality in check first.
Get it now. You won’t regret it
Just saying hi to the team at Mountain View Auto collision center... 1’08”
Lol
damn that sucks
Ehhh what can you do
I wonder if the cost of fixing other new EVs are in the similar price range. If that is true - insurance rates for EVs are going to rise.
this seems to be every Tesla experience :) -- Love it but ...... this gap /this color matching /this battery thingy .....
But we still love it!
Wow is all I can say
sucks :(
They gave you an old part and sold you parts. Like the #Turo Tesla Rental not return and found with a tracker and the bumper was off and they were in the midst of swapping parts to sell them. Watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/8GINbs_jzOo/v-deo.html
Wow that video was insane!!!
Getting too own a Tesla as a car guy is a real big step both negative and positive. Watch rich rebuilds aka car guru for all your Tesla feels👍🏽
Rich is amazing. I love his channel
Well, time for an i4, maybe an iX or perhaps a Taycan!!
Now we’re talking!
I’m not gonna say who the shop was Hahahahahahahaha I love it
Hehe
In the UK it would cost £350-£450
Yup!
hope you are making a diminished value claim with the at-fault carrier
Yes will do.
Since the bodyshop messed up Violet's new Whip, she gets the Porsche 911 Carrera T when she turns 16 years old. You better not get a scratch on her beautiful Porsche.
Done deal!
Tommy that’s why I ordered a new BMW M3 with Xdrive until TESLA gets their shit together
Good call too!!!
They put it back to factory Tesla expectations. :) Why I refuse to buy a Tesla anytime soon.
They’re amazing cars to drive
I tell myself everyday- don't get into an accident! Unfortunately you are not the worst story either .... also, I agree with your conclusion. yes, service sucks, but... "I can't imagine daily driving anything else"
I agree. Best daily ever
@@TommyLGarage also, we have 2 (3&Y) just in case 1 is in the shop ;) (we only had 1 service issue is 3 years 65k miles, a charge port issue that took over 2 weeks) but I couldn't justify asking Tesla to spend more on service vs. innovation... maybe in the future.
The after-sales experience will become a real issue, once other manufacturers gain speed with Electric Vehicles. In my case, I have resisted to buy a Tesla, precisely because of all the horror stories regarding Quality Assurance, Parts, Service, and God forbid, Repairs. As I was going to get a model 3 for my wife, I have decide to wait for the new BMW i4 M50, not because of performance comparisons (I am not racing Teslas), but because of the quality of manufacturing, and the Dealer Service network. If in for service or repairs, I will get a BMW loaner, not a crappy enterprise rental. Besides, the car feels like, well, a BMW inside. Interiors are great.
We'll see. I may be disappointed, but so far, BMW electric lines are looking good.
Wow The scratches is still there looks like they just painted over them smh that’s not good and that cost 5200 Smh
Crappy shop
They should have replaced the bumper I’m guessing they may have even charged from a bumper who knows. Make this order a new bumper considering didn’t fix the lines correctly. Then take your car back to them and they can throw a new cover on. I can’t stand body shops They just don’t care
I’m too nice to them. I gotta go with one of my gangster friends lol
@@TommyLGarage oh yeah, when I got some body work done on our old Audi S3 it had issues after. I looked at it when I picked it up body lines didn’t match and paint color match was slightly off. Now I’m very picky with this but if you take it to a body shop it should look like it never went that’s there job. If they can’t do it correctly they should be in another business. So yeah they took the car back and fixed it replaced the bumper and fender because that’s the correct way to do it but insurance just want to pay them to repair. AKA Bondo F that nope fix it right.
It's so sad that we expect Tesla to be 100% while we don't do this to Land Rover or Porsche or BMW.
Yup!
Small patch Bodyshop void the warranty. Thats crazy rip off.
Yup!
Toyota makes excellent electric cars
Haha
tesla certified collision repair shop ?
Yes
I don’t know who at Tesla approves the shops. The OEM build quality and the shops quality is absolute trash. There’s so much orange peel, you can see it on a dirty car. Honestly one of the main reason I won’t get a Tesla yet, is because of build quality.
But they drive so well
I wonder if Tesla will watch this video? If they do I need to pay you to make a video about the shitty customer service I’ve had from Bilstein. I’ve been waiting for a replacement warranty shock since October 2020. That’s right nearly 1.5 years.
Wow. What’s taking them so long ?
@@TommyLGarage Excuse after excuse. I can’t even speak to them directly because they only deal with distributors. It’s the ride control kit for the f30 so definitely not a cheap kit!
Get rid of it!
No way. I love it
You paid at least a $500 deductible so you didn’t pay zero haha
I did not. The guy who did it covered it
Most of the body shops are crooks
They milked the insurance company
most likely they told the adjuster that you needed a new bumper and a rear rim
But never placed a order for it and got a $5200 check.
Most adjusters work with body shops
So sad...
Obviously you are paying for Tesla license of the shop and for quality work...
Yup
You may have a cursed car 😮
Haha maybe
Damn. I’ll send you some jerkey so you can feel better
Yes please!!!!
Tesla will still outsell your favorite EV.
Yes!
That’s what you call a shitbox repair job.
Wow!!! Blaming Tesla for the independent body shop issues and then blaming Telsa for delivery issues. Go back to the body shop who you refused to name for their bad work. You realize we are ALL having supply chain issues from all sectors of industries and manufactures across the nation.
It was named if you look closely in the beginning. Mountain View something.
Tesla is the one who delayed it.
Ok Tommy your clickbait headlines are really starting to stretch. “Major Issues?” “Ready to give up?” I do enjoy your vids tho
As long as you enjoy it. We can still have fun!
Body shop painted over scratch.
Yupv
Porsche service a stark difference to BMW/Tesla/Any other manufacturer - definitely one of the reasons why I've become a porker fanboy
Same!
Dude don’t settle for garbage bodywork…bunch of lazy bums send a car down to Sterling Virginia to the top body shop on the East Coast. Unfortunately it’s probably gonna cost an arm and a leg to have all this fixed but they’ll get it done perfectly.
What makes me upset is that people don’t take pride in their craftsmanship anymore people are lazy and all they wanna do is collect the money and do the minimum of nothingness
That’s my point too. No pride
news flash, 2022 NOBODY give a shyte anymore. Customer service, quality work or service is all dead. period.
Yup
Independent body shop makes poor repair. You blame Tesla. Pure clickbait.
Pure !
dupy nie fachowcy:) jakiego rodzaju mają certyfikat? jak tesla to aprobuje? Słabo widzę "utratę gwarancji" w takim wypadku bo ta "gwarancja nie przyda się do niczego.
W sumie racja. Ale za 3 lata i tak sprzedaje
Wow. This is beyond a joke. $5.2k for that poor quality probably done by a college student on his apprenticeship! Absolutely pathetic. I'll never buy a Tesla ever. Rather ride a donkey!
Donkeys are are a premium now. Can’t find a low mileage donkey
Teslas are not well made cars. I wouldn’t trust my or my family’s lives on their build quality.
For sure. Ford is king!
