Wonderful. I particularly like their well covered decent dresses. I wish those days come back.

"Miss Davis, you and I have a sacred trust!". Great line. Back then a person's word meant something and that's what it really was; SACRED TRUST!

That actress who played the old woman should have won some kind of award for her superb acting portrayal.

This storyline is very believable because you have to remember that this show was filmed in the mid-1960's, roughly 20 years after World War II and it's very realistic that a middle-aged man of this time period would have lived thru the London Blitz. Still a fairly recent memory for a lot of people during this time.

It's funny , I was thinking about this episode just the other day and was trying to remember what the little stuffed toy was and the name since it had been years since I saw it. Why I thought of it I don't know, but strangely enough, that very episode was on today! Strange how things turn out that way? I seem to have a terrible weakness for things that 'touch the heart' and this episode is one of my all time favorites! Thanks for the post.

I’ve always wondered why Family Affair is/was categorized as a Sitcom... most episodes are serious and dramatic.

the "Blitz" she's referring to is Germany's Luftwaffe (German Airforce) Blitzkrieg (lightning war)

It was "Britain's finest hour" as she stood alone against the onslaught of Hitler's juggernaut, and yes, hundreds upon hundreds of people met the same fate as Mr. French's sweetheart during this terrible time. General William T. Sherman was right on with his statement that "War is cruelty, and you cannot refine it." which he made during the course of his Atlanta Campaign during the Civil War.

Perhaps it is my imagination, but the actress who plays Mrs. Allanby has a similar voice cadence as Jonathan Harris.
