Compared to the book Of Mice And Men the language in this 1939 movie is absolutely gutless. They couldn't even say mouse, it was changed to bird. The 1993 remake wasn't much better. I would like to see an R rated version with ALL the language from the book intact.

I feel this version of the scene is more accurate to the book as Lennie is just frozen in confused in fear while he's breaking Curley's hand, meanwhile in the 1992 version he literally goes psycho mode and stares at Curley with the most menacing face ever

I don’t know why, but these old movies feel like poorly acted plays. The 1992 version much darker

They don't make good tv shows like this anymore. All we get is garbage like the Kardashians and realityTV shows which are junk.

Lon Chaney Jr should get more credit as an actor. I think this fight scene is one of the most gripping in movie history. God bless Chaney's Sr & Jr.

Curly's wife biggest mistake was trying to befriend Lennie, not knowing he's a big dork that doesn't know how to act and behave normally towards other people. He can't even meddle with her.

Huntington Park, So.Cal. early 70's my brother and parents, and me watching a cheap black and white tv. Of Mice and Men..never read the story. At close to the ending, i hoped that it would have a nice ending. But no, it was not to be..not a sound from the living room. I was to embarrassed to have to anyone see me crying. If only Hollywood could make movies like this again.

The grief on George's face is palpable. We have to keep in mind that in 1939, men werent exactly allowed to show a lot of emotion. But this actor made his grief on his face and his body language said it all. ....ending the life of your friend because back then that was justice.....killing him to give him a mercy and to make him happy in the end. 😢

God almighty, Kathy Garver was just stunning back then, wasn't she? And as the show progressed, she got even hotter as she went from age 20 into her mid-20s. This episode is the start of season 2 and Kathy in just one year had developed into a cold stone fox, likely age 21 (contrast this with the beginning of Season 1, when she was more cute than beautiful). Over seasons 3 - 5 she became more luscious every year. Although Family Affair was a very wholesome show, I used to have dreams about Kathy, only THEY were NOT all so wholesome, ha ha!! 😍 😛 💘 Kathy has had a great life, and she is STILL a charming and lovely lady today, and she is still very active and healthy at age 78 as of this writing. I bet she lives to be 105, and says everyday, "Stick that 'Family Affair Curse' where the sun don't shine!!" 😢

WAY more impactful for me than the 1992 version. 1992 is mostly fine, don't get me wrong, but it just kinda felt a bit empty IMO, especially in the ending.
