It is a game that most of us just absorb by word of mouth instead of actually reading the rules, so people don't know about it,, and I think in some ways people don't like this rule because they just want to play the +4 so badly without restrictions.
The challenge rule is a thing that groups at the start of the game usually talk about whether or not they would use it, the same way that they decide whether they would do 7s and 0s, draw till get color or draw one, stacking, jump in's, and or plus fours on plus two's.
Searching for this after watching that hilarious RDCworld1 uno game. Now I understand why Mark keep drawing 4/6 cards when he challenged and get challenged.
I just recently learned how to play UNO and decided to read the rules I educate the other players who have been playing UNO for long time. They were surprised to know the rules
That's what happens when the rules are taught from person to person, and no one actually reads the rules. It becomes a card game version of "Telephone"
I can see why people usually don't play this rule, since most of the time people save their +4s for last anyways, and it's usually not worth it to challenge it
Well, you can try to play it, but the victim can challenge it. If you don't have any of the color in play, the victim has to pick up 6 cards. But if you are caught with the current color in hand, you have to pick up the 4 cards, not the victim. It adds an element of bluffing to the +4 card.
Pretty sure the restriction only applies to color. So if the top card is a Red 5, and you have a +4, no red cards, and a Yellow 5, playing the +4 is legal in this case because you have no red, even though you could’ve played the Yellow 5.
@@slimecubeboingyou are correct that it's color only. However, my rule is that you can only play a WD4 if you have no other play. In other words, if you can change the color without playing the WD4, you have to do it in that manner. Example: red 6 is showing and you have, amongst other cards, a blue 6 and a WD4. Even if you have no reds in your hand, you must play the blue 6 instead of the WD4. In your example, you'd have to play the yellow 5 instead of the WD4
Me and my friends made a rule for this card. The "Wild +4" in this rule is used to challenge any player regardless it's their turn (next player) or not (i.e the one with the Uno in the last turn) 1. Bring forth the "Wild +4" card and one card facing down. The challenge card. 2. Mention any player to challenge them to guess the color of the challenge card. 3. The player guess the color. 4. Reveal that challenge card so anyone can see. 5. If they guess it wrong, they draw 4 cards. If they guess it right, you draw 6 cards instead, and lost your turn. 6. Next player restart the game based on that challenge card color. This way you don't have to reveal all the cards you have on your hand when someone decided to challenge you, and the "Wild +4" card will be a devastating double edge sword that make the game more exciting.
Jump-in can be happened when someone that isn't before you puts a card that has the same color and the same symbol/number as one of the cards, you have three seconds to jump-in, aswell as you can jump in yourself if you have two similar cards (in everything), and the turn then goes to the players who is next to you. Any draw cards won't stack up when you jump-in. The block and reverse cards do effect to the next player after jumping-in, that's all.
i have a question, can i play/put card after i play DRAW 4 card after i declare color. example ; i play DRAW 4, next player must draw 4 from deck then skipped their turn then i declared RED, after i declared can i immediately put Red card in my hand.
I HAVE A QUERY that If 2 ppl are playing UNO one will draw +2 card and the opponent have just 1 card left which is a power card of +4, he/she draw +4 upon +2 and the other opponent have again draw +4 then the opponent will have to pick all those 10 cards Or He/she will win because they don't have any card left? (I think that he/she will have to pick up all those cards otherwise there's no Value left of those power cards we drew).
I hope I am understanding your question correctly - remember that in UNO the +2 and +4 cards are not supposed to "stack" (add on to each other). This is a popular "house rule". So one player plays the +2, the opponent draws 2 cards and also misses their turn to play a card, and the first player goes again.
Hi , i have one question :) Situation was : i had last card and player before me used this card to prevent me winning. But I’ve challenged her , but she told me that she still can change color . Is it right ?
It's about legal play and illegal play. You can play the card anytime, with a consequence. The rule is this card can only be played if you don't have any card matching the color of the discarded card. So when you choose to play this card when you actually have that card matching the color of the discarded card, they can challenge you of illegal play. You get to draw 6 instead and others can see your entire hand.
What I want to know is if you are challenged and caught. Does that player still have the ability to change the color. Been playing online and playing with partners and players are playing the draw 4+ knowing that they will be challenged but are still able to change the color to their partners color anyway.
It's not in all the rules... (This happened like 20 years ago, in primary school) So I read the rules of my copy of UNO. It had this rule described... So I managed to convince people sometimes to use the rule (it makes sense). But it was the 199x so everyone had a copy of UNO and I was making the pitch about this rule and there was another player convinced I didn't read the rules...me: 'no, you didn't read the rules'. So they gave me the rules and they were different from the ones I had at home... Not sure if they are different print versions or were some of the games knockoffs... Or was it the probelm with translations. (If you had a copy of uno that had German of English rules translated). But the situation was quite embarrassing.
I don't think this rule was in the original version of Uno. I don't have any data on it to show, but it seems like it was added at some point in the '90s, possibly because people were saving up their +4 cards to use just when another player was about to win, and there was nothing that a player could do to stop it.
Today I played my very first round of Uno, and the only cards I got for myself were a total of 5 including 2 reverses, 2 blocks(skip) and a +2 Card, its no wonder I won💀
I wish your explanation had included more information regarding the Draw 4 rule, because the official rules don't say whether the player who has been caught playing a Draw 4 illegally still gets to select the color. He has to draw 4 cards, but can he still name the color as if he had played the card legally?
Originally when you put it down you already assigned a color before they challenge you so I think you can. And only next to you can challenge you and you will only show your cards to the person who challenges you and not to the others
I'm not sure if I understand your question. If your question is "can you play a wild and keep the suit the same color?" then I believe the answer is yes
Ok so I'm arguing with someone I say that you can't play a draw 4 if you have a wild, that you have to play the wild first They say you can play wild or draw 4 if you don't have a card that will play. Which is right?
That's a good question. I would say that the wild doesn't need to be played because it isn't of a specific suit, and so doesn't qualify as challengeable. Just because it's playable doesn't mean it meets the requirements of the rule. For instance, if you have a card with the matching number as the card on the discard pile, it would be a similar thing
If a player is supposed to play +4 card only if he doesn't have the matching colored card, then there is no chance of challenging it by the next person.
I usually use this rule mate but I add a bit of alteration.. Me and my friends added one rule example…. if the next person to you is on UNO and the ongoing color on the deck is red say number 7 and you got 3 cards only say draw 4 one yellow and one red card say number 5 You can still play the draw 4 card and the challenger can’t challenge you because you left with only 2 cards after playing the draw 4.
According to the rules, it is any card of that color, not only numbers. Here is the quote: "You can only play this card when you don't have a card in your hand that matches the color of the card previously played." Then the rules go on to detail the challenge process that I outline in the video..
I took my turn and my son had two cards and just sat there and I said uno, but I was told his hand had to be in motion before I can say anything, am I wrong?
To be fair, it seems that the rule was added in later editions, after the game became really popular. I suspect because people were saving up the +4s for when someone was about to win, and they deemed it to be unfair...

At the same time? No, sadly. I don't know where this particular rule came from, if it's the one I'm thinking of. It's a house rule that has gained some traction in recent years, as far as I can tell.
In my experience, most people don't know of the rule, because almost no one reads the rules - they learn from other players, who have also not read the rules
When I play the four plus and the person coming up next does not have the color matter fact they have to go into this pile and get a color. But yet I still get the hammer even though they do not have a + 4 or a wild card. How is this possible?
Of course! It's your game and you can choose to play it any way you like! This rule is a way to balance the game, so that +4s can't be dropped on the leader without some way of the leader protecting him/herself
The challenger draws 6 on a failed challenge. If the challenge succeeds by calling their bluff (the challenged player had cards of that color in hand) , then the player who played the +4 has to pick up 4, not the intended victim! It is high stakes!
It could be, as one player will know their hand, although it is only shown to one player. You could add a house rule where the player revealing their hand has the option of shuffling their hand into the deck and redrawing it, but that might also lead to issues...
Hyundai do I would like to know how is it that the people that you're playing against can pick up a card from the deck put it in their hand and then throw out another card. I've been trying to do that and it never work
I have always played that you take the top card of the discard pile aside, and reshuffle the discard pile to form a new draw deck. Then you put back that top card of the discard pile to form the new discard pile and you play from there.
Sure, you can enforce it! Just challenge one of your opponents, they have to show that they are out of the suit in play. If they don't or can't, they will pay the penalty.
@@LegendaryTacticslets say i have 4 cards 2 of red, 4 of red, “color changing” card and a +4 card. Beforehand player drops a 6 of yellow and then my turn comes i drop a +4 card. This Game is a knockoff of a very old game played ( at least that I know in Spain and Latin America) with regular playing cards. It’s called “ Ocho Loco” ( Crazy 8) because the 8 card can change and count as any card. In this game if you receive a 2 and you have a 2 you can throw it and the next person takes 4 cards. Are you allowed to put a patent on a traditionally played game because then … any traditional game is up for grabs …
A lot of people should become familiar with official rules because it is buggy when they don't realize the RULES ARE TO BALANCE THE GAME. Who tf wants to play an unbalanced game? People get mad when you say "You have to put down a train one at a time because 1. we have to validate what you're putting down 2. You have to give everyone a chance to call your "Uno", which leads to 3. Always have your hand visible; I don't know when mofos started hiding their hand or holding it down, because when I was younger EVERYONE required your hand to be up so we can count how many cards you have. Playing Trains is the WORST; People don't know how to properly train numbers; THEY HAVE TO BE THE SAME COLOR, BUT A DUPLICATE NUMBER CAN CHANGE THE COLOR. This rule is so you can't just easily train numbers together, it makes training a challenge that otherwise wouldn't be much of a challenge if we're ignoring colors.
Totally agree. I think a lot of those "house rules" are in place because people like to find an advantage where they can, and if they personally like a particular advantage, why not make it canon? The same type of thing happens in Monopoly and most games that are casually played.
"If my opponent challenges me I have to show my HAND to him" You really going to expose your cards to the opponents? This is why I don't go for this rule.
Many questions. 1-how is this rule accepted? If another person challenge me, they can see my cards and now know what I have. 2-does this also work if say I have a special card like colour change? That I have to play that first before a +4
I know this rule but you didn't explain what is the person that showed their hand to everybody suppose to do... LEGALLY PER THE RULES cuz one can ASSUME the one that showed their hand would dump and redraw those cards.. but what if they didnt want to do that or show their hand cuz they had a fire hand?! Does the rules SAY the hand HAS to be shown OR is it an integrity thing?! just my thoughts!
Not sure what you mean here - you could play a reverse after the +4 is resolved, but it wouldn't trigger the card again. And you couldn't play the reverse as a counter to the +4 to "send it back" to the owner.
I knew this rule but some people are just so stubborn!

Challenger draws 6 cards or 4 if the challenge was proven invalid?
The challenger draws 6 on a failed challenge. If the challenge succeeds by calling their bluff (the challenged player had cards of that color in hand) , then the player who played the +4 has to pick up 4, not the intended victim! It is high stakes!
Thank you.

Can we throw +4 card on +2 card
No, sadly those cards cannot "stack". I did a video on this as well, which can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/R10jVv-gq6U/v-deo.html
How do you check whether he has that color... Should we ask him to show all the cards...?
Yes! If challenged, that is the only way to know. The challenged player shows their cards only to the challenger, though.
@@LegendaryTactics his/her cards will be revealed with numbers right thn it will be a major disadvantage for him/her...
I've been trying to do that and it never work
I knew this but people think its not a rule
Well, most people learn the game from others, and never read the actual rule book. That was my inspiration for making the video! Thanks for watching!
what happens when all cards are already drawn yet no one got uno?
I have always played that you take the top card of the discard pile aside, and reshuffle the discard pile to form a new draw deck. Then you put back that top card of the discard pile to form the new discard pile and you play from there.
@@LegendaryTactics ok, i did not know it
Does the card 7 and 0 do anything?
no, ther is tow difrent types. one whitout the +4 and that you can only play if can´t but that whit +4 are perfectly fine
Thanks a lot🙏🙏🙏
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Actually, I did know that rule, but I always am honest with the card.
I know this rule just no way to enforce it
Sure, you can enforce it! Just challenge one of your opponents, they have to show that they are out of the suit in play. If they don't or can't, they will pay the penalty.
@@LegendaryTactics they will refuse to show
Does the numbers on the uno counts as a points?
Now we learned how to cheat in uno
By following the rules! Ha ha ha
@@LegendaryTactics yes
@@LegendaryTacticsNO IM NOT DOING THAT STUPID RULE IM CHEATING I GUESS I ALSO GUES MY FAMILYS CHEATING TOO THEN
What if you have an colour changing card
I don't believe there are any restrictions on that one
@@LegendaryTacticslets say i have 4 cards 2 of red, 4 of red, “color changing” card and a +4 card. Beforehand player drops a 6 of yellow and then my turn comes i drop a +4 card. If the next person challenge’s me. Should i need to take 6 cards from the ? As i was having the color changing, wherein i could have dropped instead of +4?
We had a huge fight over this, we couldnt able to come to conclusion on this, when we played
Yes, I knew that.
Nice! You're more well -informed than most!
That role you can 4+ card to next player but in next player have 4+ card you can change color yellow and need yellow card
"If my opponent challenges me I have to show my HAND to him"
You really going to expose your cards to the opponents?
This is why I don't go for this rule.
I knew it, but... I'm accused sus
Ha ha!
@@LegendaryTactics wut?
Many questions.
1-how is this rule accepted? If another person challenge me, they can see my cards and now know what I have.
2-does this also work if say I have a special card like colour change? That I have to play that first before a +4
I have seen a comment about ur 1st question: I think the comment is "to make UNO more fair"
@@MrCobaltYT I get it, the creators make the rules, but fair should not be a good reason, not everyone is on the same intelligence level.
@@johnvines4875 Well I'm pretty much "okay with it" because it adds excitement (just my opinion)
The reason the person who false challenged you draws 6 instead of 4 is so that they don't get the benefit of seeing your cards for free.
But in team game i sometimes don't have the color i choose but then also I lose challenge
I'm not clear why that would happen? Unless I am misunderstanding how the team game is played...
Rules are made to be broken.
Ha ha, I like that answer
this sucks the stuff we should be talking about is if it’s legal to stack + cards
Great idea! I will be putting out a video soon on this!
Do you challenge it if they just got the card from drawing and place it is it legal then
The idea is that you can challenge a +4 however it ends up being played.
I still don't get it can anyone simplify for me
I know this rule but you didn't explain what is the person that showed their hand to everybody suppose to do...
I challenge you to make an even longer video to explain something that needs 5 seconds to communicate.
I'll see what I can do!
I though it was who has more of that color
No, in order to play a +4 successfully and survive a challenge you have to be out of that color.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!
........if I payed for it my rules how you gone tell me how to play my hand
Of course! That's why house rules in board and card games are a thing! Best part is you can play any way you like!
So it’s basically reneging
can we use reverse card on 4+wild card
Not sure what you mean here - you could play a reverse after the +4 is resolved, but it wouldn't trigger the card again. And you couldn't play the reverse as a counter to the +4 to "send it back" to the owner.
