did the cas3++ ISTAP update today, kept the voltage above 13 volts and constant internet connection and it worked with no hiccups. Waiting for the key to come in next week and I’m all set, thank you for the helpful video.

Ive always heard that it's risky to do cas via obd. This gives me a bit of confidence, thanks man
Thank you for this. one of my first cars was a BMW 5 series cas 3++ and it give me a hell of a time. I had a friend help me and I bench flashed the cas 3 module with my key tool plus. hopefully, I can do the next istap one with my im508 like you did. next time try to get a video of the istap update.

Did you backup the eeprom by obd before doing the cas update? I think that was recommended. Where would that screen be?
I am new to auto and everyone keeps telling me you got to do these on the bench to remove all the risks but watching your video it’s seems like it can be done comfortably, have you had any go wrong or have you been able to back up the data via obd first

Hi! Thanks for this. I have access to an Autel MaxiCheck MX808. I was hoping to program 2 new keys (from Amazon) to a 528i. Do I absolutely have to use the x400?
That tool will not do it you need a autel im508 the least to do bmws and a strong internet connection .

For you experienced Locksmith, I’ve heard that it’s better to always do BMW on bench instead of OBD regardless to reduce risk to damaged ECU. Is that true?
Yes correct but not all vehicles need to be done on bench cas3, cas3+,cas3++ not risky obd2 it's cas 3 ++ istap that's risky but with good internet and over 13 volts it's fine and no customers touching anything no in and out the car while programming things will be fine no voltage drops .
@@fabolousg4ever On power supply question, I just got Powermax power supply and it has factory default at about 14.5V. Can I connect to BMW or Mercedes at 14.5V and not causing battery overcharge or other issue during key programming process? Thx
@Simple Living yes that should be fine cause I use jumper cables from another running vehicle to do the job and works perfectly everytime.
Can you use the adapter slot that comes with the IM508 or have to us the XP400 pro that you have...
if I am adding 2 extra keys for a 2015 audi s4, do I have to make a dealer key for each new key? or make a dealer key out of one new key and just learn all 3 including the original key?
All keys need to be pre prepped by generating them into dealer keys for proper synchronization to the vehicle. If you do not generate them into a dealer key they will not be able to program to the vehicle.
So i lost the all the keys to my 2007 335i, im not sure which cas mine has but if its the cas, cas3 and cas3+ i can have the xp400 report the keys lost and program a new one correct?
Yes you should be able to program cas3 and cas3+ threw obd2 all lost keys no problem super simple did one 2 days ago took like 5 minutes .
Can you have one \key for your BMW programmed to use on another BMW? I own two BMWs, it would be nice to be able to switch the FOBs from car to car so I wouldn't have to always carry two FOBs.

I have a question, when it asks what type of key to be written, what if I want to make a comfort access key that is able to start the car without putting it in the slot, but it also has the slot available if ever needed, would I need to choose smart key ?
If it's comfort yes you hit smart key instead of semi smart key .

Additional Question: How can I tell if my remotes are bad or if the CAS system is bricked? Will the Autel diagnose the CAS and provide info on whether it is working or not? Dealer wants $500 to diagnose 💸💸💸

What the hell, so if someone has this device and acess to my car for 20 minutes with OEM key, he makes the new key just like that??? That is VERY POOR security!
