Hi, hey I just wanted to THANK YOU for this video. Just purchased a used 650i convertible, and the gear shifter looked like a cat had been chewing on it, covered with scratches. I checked on UA-cam for advice, saw your video, ordered by new part, and installed it just like you did. Getting the old one off was the only trick and your method worked perfectly and caused no damage. Just wanted to know, your two year old video is still valuable. Thanks again.

Thanks for upload. I was about to buy a whole new used shifter assembly off eBay because this plastic cover is all cracked on mine too. Didn't realize you can just get a new cover

WinstonBMW... Just purchased the same vehicle, and my selector looks exactly like your original selector did. Dealer said it's cracks from wear, as opposed to scratches. These scratches were caused intentionally by some repair shop where you took the car for repairs. It happens, especially if you were not satisfied with the repair work done on your car. There is a lot of malice, hatred and envy in some people.
I would not be surprised if that was the case. This car was bought used like this, so I don't know when and how it happened
My son scratched it with a razor blade 😂
