One of my favorite things about Rowan’s channel and just railfanning in general is the sense of community that comes with the love of the railroad. There aren’t many channels I can think of where the creator goes out and shares his love for trains with the people who watch and enjoy his content. Keep doin your thing Rowan!
RVR, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! To God Be the Glory!
I’ve been watching his videos for years never forgot him and never will
@@nc_railfilms2533 He is so likeable.
Rowan, you make everyone feel
welcome in your
videos. always
a wonderful job
covering the unique
trains and cars
especially with this
huge steam engine.
the1309 is such a
piece of history.
thank you for all your
hard work rail faning
on your days off from
NS.
VERY enjoyable, both the train and the enthusiasm of those young men!
Thanks Rowan!
You're welcome!
Wonderful video, Rowan! Captured great highlights, a cab visit to 1309; classic charge around famous Helmstetter's Curve. and Frostburg and the turntable. Enthusiastic group of railfans always adds zest to your videos. They are always a delight. Thanks for posting.
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching!!
Well listen to jingle, the rumble and the roar!
Thanks for another wonderful vid, Rowan. I spent the first 21 yrs. of my life in Cumberland, just west of The Narrows. And though I make it back at least once a year to visit but still haven't had the pleasure of riding the excursion up the mountain yet. You captured the beauty of 1309 very well, and thanks for the explanation of why they don't use the turntable. Keep up the great work, Rowan and I'll continue to tune in. Thanks again.
Thank you so much Kenneth, I'm glad that in your eyes as a Cumberland native, I was able to give the locomotive justice! Appreciate your viewership!
I need to see this locomotives one day nice
@Railfan Michael it's worth the trip up to see 1309 I used to work for them long time ago
What an awesome video, I sure do hope to ride behind 1309 next year because I have passed by the station this year and last and it was cool seeing it, but I still wish to see 1309 inperson at some point.
WOW what a majestic engine. I can only imagine what she was like pulling a full load of revenue back in the day!! I do remember as a very young boy the steam engine that took me and my family from Rochester, NY to Syracuse NY on the NY Central. I believe it was a Hudson that was running that day. Course, it was a free ride for us, as Dad worked for the NY Central.
Thanks, Rowan for another great video.
Thanks for watching as always Alan!
Cool video Rowan. Beautiful Catch!
@Railfan Rowan I'm glad you got to see 1309 again I did the cab ride for my 31st Birthday and for to blow the whistle
That's so cool!
The sounds that tha engine makes on an uphill climb are the Holy Grail of steam railroading!
Amen!
Excellent video, beautiful country in that area of the country. You can't go wrong with a steamer they are just amazing.
Thanks Mark, agreed, inredible!
Everyone needs to take an opportunity anytime they have the chance to check out an Old Historic Relic on the Rails. 👍
Awesome video!! God bless!
Nice to see that u got to see 1309
What a beautiful example of the Mallet locomotive! Anatole Mallet coupled his idea of a high pressure piston for the first set of drivers and a low pressure piston for the front set of drivers with Levi Bissel's swivel front truck system to get a powerful articulated locomotive. What a genius! And you got a cab tour and saw and heard it live! Wow! Thanks Double "R" for sharing with all of us!!! Great rail fanning vid as usual.
That was a great video production rowan. Looks like a lot of fun. The f40ph is actually a gp40 made for passenger service and it has a head and generator. My dad used to work for electromotive division in LaGrange illinois. Tons of books, tons of prints and everything else and some of those diesels. God bless you. Take care and be safe. Minister Timothy Michael
Thank you! Yes, was quite fun!
To see a Baldwin locomotive and a Mallet,at that, running in such magnificent countryside,is a sight that really superb, and the enthusiasm of your buddies,is icing on the cake! All the years,I spent shooting the North East Corridor(Ex- Pennsylvania New York Division/ Region, then PC,then Conrail, then Amtrak, etc.),you never knew from day-to-day, what to expect! And boy,do I miss that excitement, and anticipation!! Thanks,Rowan, you and the gang are keeping me young, where it counts!! God bless you,and your family and definitely your friends, they are brothers,in the truest sense of the word!! Thanks again, for all your good works!! 👍
Hello Rowan. Another fantastic video, very well filmed and edited. Love the countryside there, fresh & green. Great to see you still pursuing your passion.
Thanks as always Wayne!!

Another fun time watching trains! Really great to see so many people enjoying these amazing treasures of history thanks for sharing your talents!
I had to watch again, and I have to say it's great to see a very respectable group of young men having fun chasing trains. Great camera work, and explanations of how things work, or don't. Keep up the good work and have fun, guys. Y'all have a bright future ahead of ya .. thanks again.
Thanks Kenneth! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate the compliments!
Cool video! Thanks for sharing!
Great shots Rowan!
Thank you!!
Awesome Rowan thanks for posting amazing videos thank you from railfaing the Great Lakes central railroad (Andrew)
Awesome video 👍😎🇺🇸🚂
Great video been a while. Steam engine technology was incredible on its day. So many working parts.
That's right!
Rowan another great video
Thank you!
The turntable at Frostburg Maryland is still used for the diesels and the steam locomotive 734 so after 734 comes back in steam then it will be on the turntable
Beautiful mallet. I’ve heard a lot of bad things about that place though. Mixed signals coming from all over. But hey atleast it’s running!!!
I have heard the same thing actually!
Beautiful train and footage! 🚂🚂🚂
Thank you!!
Great video.
Great video!
O YEAHH
I very much enjoyed this video and thanks for it. I have rode these rails a few times though not yet on the 1309. God bless you Railfan Rowen.
Thank you Christian!
Amazing video Rowan! That drone shot around Helmstetter’s Curve creates a really nice view of the consist and 1309; keep up the great work!!
Thank you very much, I hope to continue with the drone, but currently, she is out of service... :(
@@RailfanRowan Oh no! I hope that there’s not something major wrong with it
Hey rowan great video and chase hopefully I can get up there soon. I'm planning on chasing one of the Norfolk southern heritage units on a coal train all the way to Atlanta Georgia I believe it is the central of Georgia heritage unit
Epic Job Rowan.
Thanks man!
Best part about this beauty engine is it’s N&W hooter
I think that is excellent

Fuckin awesome!
Ohhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhh boi
OH YAH BOIII
@Railfan Rowan lol
👍👍❤️
I've missed something...The end to the videos is not "Happy Foaming"? Now it is "we'll be seeing ya" What have I missed? When did this change? Just curious :)
We do be seein ya! ;)
Does anyone know if the front and rear sets of drivers are connected in any way? I understand that other articulated locos like the Big Boy or Challenger don't have to be, but I didn't know if this would have to be with it being a mallet.
There's no mechanical connection between the front and rear drivers on 1309, nor were there any on any American articulated locomotive. It was thought of (and on the PRR's duplex-drive engines as well) but considered not worth the trouble or mechanical complexity involved.
I Like video you 🥰
I also do content like that
Really nice! The drone shot was excellent... we all enjoyed that very much. Will you be running trains tomorrow? We might want to be seeing you!
You WILL BE SEEING ME!! I'll be on a southbound out of Hagerstown tomorrow!
@@RailfanRowan Hope you're running in the afternoon. We didn't get up early... oops. If you have an afternoon train, look for us at Shen.😃
Hey rowan.
Enjoy the chase thanks for having everyone along. You saved me a lot of driving.
Nw steam locomotive whistle
Certainly not like the new BNSF keyboard operated trains.
Great footage Rowan!!
Thanks Mr Mosely
