- It's my UA-cam birthday! It's two years since I started my channel! So to celebrate, let's go shopping! I've been on a little excursion to Tokyo with my crafty shopping list and you're welcome to join me.
As a little bonus, I have some footage of a local summer festival from a town near me. I hope you enjoy it even half as much as I did!
Here's where else you can find me:

Let's shop!
This was such a fun watch, I can't wait to visit all these shops someday!
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Oh I loved this so much!! Thank you for sharing!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Cher! I'm heading out today to hopefully video some more fun Japanese craft.
Yes a book store would be very interesting!
Oh my goodness, what a shopping tour! I have to admit, I'd probably be there for hours and my trolley would be full! You are lucky to experience the local culture and events - thank you for including us 😊. Happy UA-cam birthday as well! Always enjoy your video's and grateful you continue to share. Thank you! Cheers, Dotty xx 💕
Glad you enjoyed it! I think the only thing that stops me really filling my trolley is the knowledge that I can come back again, and the knowledge that I have to cart everything home on the train, then walk one km home!!
Thank you so much for sharing. I travelled a bit today! I loved the copic display. never seen so much !!!!!! and all the beautiful papers made me dream. Happy You Tube Birthday!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes those papers are incredibly tempting! It's hard not to want them all!
So jealous of the craft shops. Norway and Japan, two countries I really like. ❤🇦🇺
I’d love to go to Norway too!
Thank you for a peek into your life in Japan. Great shopping, too. The drums at the end were great! xo
Thank you so much Ngaire. The drums are my favourite too! They make me teary, I love them so much!
When I lived in Singapore I struggled to find craft shops. I would be drooling over all those pencils and paints in Tokyo. If only just having them would morph into skills! Sadly, there are not many instore craft shops in Western Australia now either and I have to resort to buying most of my supplies online. Interesting that some of our favourite supplies originate in Japan.
I'm trying to make the most of it here. I try to buy locally in Australia too, but since my local store shut down, I've been doing more online shopping too.
So Fascinating! Thanks for sharing! (glad you made all of your purchases!)
It was a really fun day, and after so much time alone here, having a camera made me feel like I was shopping with friends. Crazy, probably, but true.
What a wonderful video, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I've been so fortunate to have been able to go to Japan 4 times. Each trip was so different based on the people I was with. I'm sure you must be enjoying every moment. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you so much Amy. I'm so glad you've had the opportunity to come to Japan. I love this country so much. I feel so at home here.
So incredible jelous! I really would love to visit someday! And of course don't miss theese stores at all!
It was a great place to live. I’m back in Australia now, and I miss it!
Wow thank you for being our tour guide. I love seeing life and shops in other countries. I love the drums, many years ago I was fortunate enough to attend a performance by Kodo and I will remember it always. Take care
Glad you enjoyed it! The drums are my favourite part of the performances. I find it hard to tear the camera away from them to show the dancers!
Thank you so much! I’ve had the good fortune to visit Japan twice, Tokyo once (son-in-law is US Navy) and loved every second of it! Tokyu Hands and the stationery shops were such an amazing treat and so fun to spend hours in! You video brought back some lovely memories. I hope to go back one day.
Hello Julie! I'm so glad you've had the chance to come to Japan. It's such a wonderful place. I love the stationary shops too, and have to really watch myself that I don't buy more than I should!
Thank you for the fascinating look into your life. X
Glad you enjoyed it! I love seeing life in other countries, so I was hoping people would find it interesting, and that it wasn't just me!
Thanks for sharing your life in Japan with us. Those stores!!!😍😍😍
The stores here are amazing! You have to keep your self control intact to not fill your home with all the things!
Such a fabulous tour! Thanks so much for sharing a snippet of your adventure!❤️❤️❤️
Hello my lovely friend. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Life is the same, yet completely different here, but I'm loving it.
Lovely start to the socks
Thanks Daria. I've finished them now, and they're really great for summer!
Absolutely loved this glimpse into your life and Japanese culture!! Thank you so much for sharing! I would love to see more videos like this.
Thank you so much Tiffany. The first video was so well received that we're off today to see if we can get some footage for another!
OMG Donna what a shopping trip. Absolutely wonderful thank you so much for taking us on your shopping tour, and I loved the festival at the end. Next time we go to visit our son Steve and his Japanese wife Junko, I’ll have to visit these stores. They live 30 minutes away from Landmark Yokohama tower, and the Kamakura area. There is a beautiful handmade paper shop there and also a fabulous material shop called Swany, great for patterns as well. Love Mary FitzGerald.
Hi Mary. You'll definitely be able to visit those stores from Kamakura! What a great place to live! The streets of Kamakura are so narrow! I remember having to fold the car side mirrors in to pass another car in one street. I'll have to check out the handmade paper shop
Tokyu hands would be so hard to resist, What an amazing experience that would be. Wow, I’m just blown away by all this. I love you have a kangaroo coaster with all your Japanese things.
You have amazing attention to detail! Well spotted on the Kangaroo!
Thanks for a great video of life in Japan! Enjoyed seeing the dance and art supplies! Looks like you adapt well to Japanese life.
Thanks so much. I love life in Japan. I'm studying Japanese and really enjoying the challenge of living life in a second language, even though it's exhausting sometimes!
Sarah was correct! - I so want to go on a shopping spree now!! I've also seen a video somewhere of a pigment shop. With every colour of pigment powder that you can buy in the size you want. It was so yummy and colourful.
I’ll go and look for it for you!
Fabulous tour! Thank you! My favorite store when we got to visit Japan was Ginza Itoya. My family had to drag me out 🤣
I'm not surprised. Itoya is fabulous!
What a fabulous video, loved it especially the drumming at the end. I hear copics are a very good price there, I think I would have to bed banned from this store, I would send the family into bankruptcy lol. Thank you for sharing your life too.
Hi Aileen! Thank you so much. I have to be so careful not to fall in love with all the things! The drumming is my favourite part too. For some reason the drums always make me teary.
Thank you so much! Lovely and useful video! The Awaodori festival (I think…) clip at the end was soooo energizing! I am leaving for Japan tomorrow for a hanami trip and will bring an empty suitcase to be filled with craft supplies. This reminded me to also buy some music CDs with this kind of music plus taiko drums! 😊 🌸 🌸
Wonderful! I’m headed back to Japan tomorrow too! I’ve been in Australia for a few months! The cherry blossoms are just perfect at the moment. Friends have been sending me pictures. Have fun with the craft supplies!
Wow those stores are amazing! We do have individual pencils available here in Australia, but you need to go to specific stores. Occasional Officeworks and art stores are your best bet.
Hi Leanne. Yes, I've seen some individual pencils in Australia too. I wish it was more the norm there like it is here. I'm so glad you enjoyed a little peek into the stores here.
My closest Officeworks (Midland WA) has expanded and now has a huge art supply, especially brushes. I still like to support Jackson’s too though. If we don’t use the small stores we will lose them, hence Spotlight.
Fascinating!! You did a lovely job of putting all this together. I enjoyed the footage of the festival. How interesting for you to have been there through the Pandemic. Do you know when you’ll be returning to Australia?
Hi Valree. We're probably returning at the end of the year, although we may be back and forth for a while as my husband finishes up work here. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I learned a lot making it. I usually I have to speed my videos up when cardmaking, but I moved the camera way too fast, and had to slow all the footage down so you wouldn't get motion sick!
This is wonderful! I’m bookmarking this video for when Japan becomes visitor friendly again. The only big store I went to there on my last trip were Itoya and a fabric store I can’t remember the name of, but I got beautiful Marimeeko fabric for a fraction of the price in the US. I’m very jealous of your adventures right now. Thank you for sharing!!!
Hi Traci. Thanks for your kindness. I wonder if you went to a shop called Tomato for your fabric. It's really big here, with a lot of stores spread around Nippori. I hope you can adventure again soon!
thank you SO much. I'm thinking I might like to be in Japan for my next reincarnation.
Yes! It's a really great place to live.
May i know do sekaido sell wool?
Hi. No, they don’t. They are just art supplies. But if you’re in. Shinjuku, where Sekaido is, you can go to Okadaya, and they have wool. Don’t be alarmed that when you enter the shop it looks like it’s all makeup. Just keep going up to the 5th floor, and to the back half and h there’s lots of wool there. Another place for wool is the the chain store Yuzawaya. They have less fancy wool, but more reasonably priced. There are lots of these google for one that’s close to where you are staying. Good luck! Hope this helps
@@donnaisplayingpaper Thanks for your info. I'll be sure to check out the store you mention.🥰
