- Having made the Forgotten Runes video a couple weeks back I decided to make a followup video talking about forgotten items! More specifically I'll be spending a lot of time talking about Ohmwrecker, the item everyone knew existed, but no one ever bought... like ever.

I started to play LoL in the same season when Riot removed it. As a toplaner i absolutely loved this item. No matter what top laner i played, i always bought ZZrot. It was ALWAYS present in my games and it was satisfying to see my enemies strugling to decide whether they should fight me or my bugs.
I know why it is removed, but it will be forever missed and forever preserved in my heart as the most interesting item in a whole game.

Why does Riot feel the need to remove every way to interact with minions other than last hitting them? You used to be able to heal them -removed, could buff them with ardent, (and Janna could do that to turrets as well) -removed, could buff them with banner -removed, could fuck with minion waves and turrets with Zz'rot -removed.
I'm pretty sure the only reason they haven't removed Sivir buff and Janna heal on minions is because they're tied to ultimates and they forgot those spells can do that.
I just want to do wack shit with minions, damn it. At least give us a proper puppet master champ with other units you can control, but no. Gotta release more champs with cancer untargettable bullshit.

Adaptive Helm made some matchups survivable for tanks. Incredibly useful when you needed it. Now there is just a hole you cant fill anymore
Sejuani with Adaptive helm was scary as hell when they buffed Frost cooldown.
Do you want do counter Cassiopeia? Too bad, we removed the only item that countered her, you better pray your mid laner didn't give her 6 kills in 10 minutes.
@@RicardoAlmeidatm Exactly she was one of the main reasons, and Teemo, Singed, Taliyah, Katarina, Azir (i think worked that way). Trying to Stack MR against these champs just dont work especially when they have Liandries and the Demonic BS item that every mage in the game buys.

The popularity of demonic + liandries builds made the loss of that item so much more tragic than it already was.

Honestly Sanguine blade could be better to work around no allies, rather than no enemies, and would be a really good item.

@@mightybatillo Back then, mobility while still getting stronger, wasn't as strong as it was now. Very few champions had any sort of mobility, and it was usually a speed boost or a miniscule dash, so the second Udyr had Zzrot and Ohmwrecker, he was a speed demon in comparison.

The real problem IMO is not that there's 2 of them, but that their burn effects stack and aren't mutually exclusive. Tbh if they turned demonic embrace into a mythical item it would solve the problem of it and liandry being bought together, as well as maybe introducing a mythic option for bulkier AP champions like Gragas that don't wanna go neither full AP damage nor pure tank. Their AD counterparts have plenty of options such as goredrinker or even shieldbow, but AP champs not so much.

@@NerdishGeekish I like Varus and sometimes I wish there was a physical version of Liandry's and Demonic Helm, Altho I made that Joke, I am a fan of burn mechanic(item or ability) mainly for brand and singed.
Theoretically brand should be the most powerful burn user but I have been more consistent with Singed with only Demonic Helm, I have rocket belt as my mythic.
Force of nature is adaptive helm but reworked and better
@@boldisordorin9010 I like to hear your math, the unique from Adaptive helm is guaranteed and cannot be bypassed by the likes of void staff, sorc shoes and ludens echo, and I thought the base magic resist from adaptive helm would be low for such a reliable unique passive but it's actually +55 MR, but no point in arguing now that beauty is gone now, since they removed the better competitor ofcourse Force of Nature has the best overall magic defense.

So THAT'S what it is, I knew I recognized this ost from somewhere.
Abyssal mask is a great support item for hard engage supports, mixing it with Zeke's allows for your stagnant damage to be improved enough to feel less like you fell off as Rell or Leona
I think one thing he missed on the video (or just worded improperly) is that abyssal mask amplifies ALL damage taken by the target for 4 seconds, not only the damage you do, so it's good on supports and tanks not because it amplifies your damage but that of your ADC and team.
I have been think of this but havent support in a while but want a reason to by it and support seem like the best or only way
I really miss adaptive helm for some reason. I understand why it had to go but it still kinda hurts.
Edit: You know what, after seeing a reply it made me realize “yeah now thinking about it mages DO to eat more damage than last season.” So yeah, why is adaptive helm gone, that was unironically my third favorite item to build on my main man Shen.
And while we’re it, why’d they get rid of gunblade?? I mean I guess not very many champions built it but like... IT’S A GUN, THAT’S ALSO A SWORD. HOW DO YOU GET ANYMORE COOLER THAN THAT.
It didn't have to, they just had bad foresight.

it really didn't though, as other people have pointed out, mages in season 11 do way more DOT than in season 10, they just didn't have foresight
I miss the old Abyssal Mask. I loved it on tanks because of the Sunfire synergy and it was a pretty good niche purchase on Kassadin too
I played Cho, Malphite and lots of other tanks, I only bought Spirit Visage on tanks that healed themself, otherwise Abyssal Mask. And if I had to lane against Vlad, Teemo, Cassio, I bought all the MR Items possible, so you saw me with Adap.Helm, Abyssal, Spirit Visage, ZZrot etc. Fun times.

I want the mana back on abysal mask and the catalyst passive, because it was really nice on tanks when you actually wanted to fight a lot in the lane

Also I think Abyssal Mask would be good today if it still gave mana. That wasn’t too relevant in season 10 but now there are very few items in the game that do so, so it would fill that niche
Unfortunately Death Dance was the only item that made most Bruisers viable lategame, now even Jax is not considered a "lategame" champ anymore because Mages are just too OP and there are no good items to counter them.

Preach! Abyssal Mask would be perfect 2nd buy on most enchanters nowadays if it gave mana. We buy Zeke vs Zeds, but have no good answer vs fed Katarina.
Nami's 1 full combo costs half of her mana pool and that's when stacking Manaflow Band. Locket gives 0 mana or mana regen. You literarily have no choice, but to build some kind of mana/mana regen on 2nd item.
Sanguine Blade was one of Lucian's highest winrate first items for like the second half of season 10. Sucks now though, because the meta is constant skirmishes from before you even get Sanguine.
I used to buy Ohmwrecker almost every game on singed. Also zz'rot portal. I miss them both so much :(

@@whoknows7415 my man... back in the days, cc's are cc's ... now, we get cc that deals tons of damage and there's not enough tenacity stats/items to give us opportunity to escape. We either buy qss or use cleanse to counter but we don't get any stats from those

RIP items i loved to use:
Hunter's potion (you could farm so much without having to back)
ZZ'rot Portal (allowed tanks to splitpush and was really fun with singed)
Ohmwrecker (free towerdives baby)
Spear of Shojin (this was busted with renekton and made his 2 item powerspike sooo strong)
Frozen Mallet (i know the permaslow was toxic but it was a lot of fun with gnar and nasus)
Enchantment: Bloodrazor (on rammus it was lot's of fun)
Liandry's Torment (as a rumble main i just want this back the most out of everything else, with it removed rumble lost his core items and all of the mythics are really bad on him)
GLP: really fun with skillshot-reliant mages like xerath or vel

Old abyssal mask was good and very good for the mana problems on Maokai. I really miss it.

Only recently started playing so all I've ever known were season 11 items, but as an akali main I've heard all about the almighty Hextech Gunblade. The incredible stats, gorgeous sustain, insane burst potential. To me it sounded like some sort of myth, the kinda thing you hear in folktales. Turns out in Wild Rift it still exists, and after using it, I can now feel the pain akali mains felt after losing it.

I bought Ohmwrecher religiously on Bard's release, back when no one knew what to do with his build and *literally everything* worked on him.
Used to buy Zz'rot portal on him too, with Banner. Big ol' wave enhancement on one side of the map strat, while running back over with chimes to get back speedily to the teamfights...with Ohm still, lol
The issue with sanguine is actually the lethality. Lethality provides much more damage to squishy targets than to tanks (which is why assassins love lethality). However, if you are split pushing the person they send to defend is usually not the squishies, it's the tank or the bruiser. Sanguine blade feels like a hybrid between an assassin and a split pushing item, and riot needs to decide which it is.
I think it would be interesting if it gave move speed instead of lethality, so you can escape from people collapsing on your split push, but idk

11:14 describing abyssal mask this way makes it seem like the s11 passive was how it always was. It used to be an aura where nearby enemies took 15% increased magic damage, making it a good item on any AP tank. It was malphite's second item since a majority of his damage is AP.

i think something they could do to abyssal is make it easier to proc because thats why ornn is so good with it, he has so many ways to apply the affects where tanks like malphite only have R
For Abyssal Mask, I've always thought it would be a cool idea if, Instead of just making enemies take more damage, it would lower their armor and magic resist scaling with your own. So the more armor you have, the more armor you remove from the enemy and the same for magic resistance. That would keep it a tank item, while also letting it scale better so it's a stronger item later in the game. Maybe make it steal the resistances instead of simply reduce them but that sounds a bit too overpowered so I don't think so.
I see a Zephyr, that item was so good in s4 to 6 when you needed At Speed and MR
I believe an intresting way to fix it would be to give it an active where you could for a period of time have the buffed version against one person, it would be sort of like an exhaust.
Maybe they could help abyssal if they made it so that you take reduced damage for a couple of seconds from the targets you immobilized which would also make it better if tanks were in 1v1 or 2v2 Situations were you dont have the damage to instantly burst them down
I miss Ohmwrecker I loved to build it on Shaco for the MS and tankyness; the active was really good too!!
Ohmwrecker was one of the most OP and underutilized item of the game, and was a free dive card for engage champs especially supports. Secret pick noone knew what it did and it just caught them off guard. It was so good to play as support when that item was in the game.

In my custom map, a Sanguine Blade-esque item exists. It's conditionality is that you gain Physical Vamp against targets with more %Current Life than you.
The rain man had an interesting strategy of building raptors cloak and spectres cowl, reason being that both items had a very high hp regen stat, but also that spectres cowl basically gave you a free second wind, letting him take very aggressive trades, back off and out sustain almost any opponent while having item components he would finish later.
Side fun fact if anyone sees this comment, Ohmwrecker was the only item (That I know of, and during later seasons) that would give Armor, HP and CDR in one item.
I remember playing Nasus Mindset Mundo, building every raptor cloak item and just staying up top while still doing decent damage with titanic hydra
I’m Ornn main and I really miss adaptive helm because it dealt with some of Ornn’s counters. And I think pre s11 abyssal mask was way better than it is now because of the old passive that gave mana when taking damage, and generally giving more stats.

Hi, Vars! I play Wild rift, and i like LoL history. I was very surprised to learn, that Wild rift items differ from their PC counterparts. For example Abyssal mask: in WR it gives health, magic resistance, some ability haste, and 2 passives - 1 making enemies around you take more magic damage, and one giving you hp regen based on mana used, and mana regen based on damage taken. All this is perfect for tanks, especially ones that deal magic damage, and ones that have high mana consumption. It can't judge it's popularity, but i think it's a bit better than the PC equivalent.

I used to build ohm as a first item on Alistar. Pair ohm with his ult and now you have a support who can facilitate dives for around 7 seconds
As a Bard player, chaining tower disables with ulti and ohmwrecker was GLORIOUS for diving
So admittedly, I never play ranked, so my skill level might have something to do with this, but I’ve found huge success building abyssal mask on tank thresh. The extra MR on force is nice, but the ability to very consistently amp the damage of your team is very nice.
Never ever did I feel the need for adaptive helmet more than now against champions with Liandry's+Demonic Embrace.
To make Sanguine Blade more popular they could give it an active that gives the user its 1v1 passive even if they're not alone for X amount of seconds, but lose the 1v1 passive if the active is on cooldown.
That way it still retains its splitpush niche, but it can be used in teamfights if you need to group, or if 2 people answer your splitpush.
Alternatively, the passive could be changed that it only sees if you are isolated from your team and ignores enemies. That way if people answer your splitpush, or a laneswap happens you retain the Sanguine Blade passive because you are alone vs 2+ people.
I am a trynd one trick and I know it was never meta but i absolutely loved building Ohmwrecker, Zzrot, Warmogs, BORK, spirit/frozen mallet/titanic with either zerks or mercs depending on the amount of cc they had with ghost ignite. It was super broken in my opinion because you could dive, slow, and extend his ult with ohm wrecker and that final Q then back to full with Warmogs.
Imo it would be pretty good if Riot added some old items back. Yes I know, some were pretty strong (Deathfire grasp/Shojin) ,but seriously in this season that wouldn't be problem. S11 have so much crazy items (Kraken slayer, Chemtank, Navori quickblades etc.) that these old items would fit perfectly.
I personally miss Z'zrot on Darius or Deathfire on Veigar.
Abyssal Mask should have an unique passive called "Nulled by the Void", it gives you a shield that allows you to ignore 1 hard crowd control effect with a cooldown that resets if you take damage, similar to the other 2 items that give some form of shield that effects abilities. And for Sanguine Blade, an unique passive called "Revel in Bloodshed" where when there are enemies that got recently hurt nearby you, you get extra attack damage and lethality. It would make it actually usable in team fights.
Amazing video as always but I really wanted to hear your thoughts on the new mythic items. Especially on the fact that tank supports have only 1 mythic and 2 legendary items to build and the fact that 80% of the tanks build Sunfire.
I always bought this item as a tank supp whenever the enemy team was so far behind that the only thing they could hide behind was the last 2 nexus turrets and it was fun to see them not expecting the item. Well, it;s not that they wouldn't die either way if they were so far behind though, and now it's awesome that Voli can do it by himself
I miss the aura items from like S3-4. Mana manipulator, the stupid health regen thing, and most importantly the old Aegis. Also that heart crystal thing you could get from philly stone, and it would turn into a passive if you level up 3 times or something with it. I loved that thing and got it every game as support
I think it would be cool to have abysal mask have an active that duplicates the "mask" and you either can give it to a teammate or opponent. If given to a teammate it's a shield and stats if given to an opponent it is a grevious wounds and Stat debuff.
i actually loved adaptative helm, as a situational item more than anything else, i loved those top matchups were teemo or singed was on the other side and i simply bought it and never fear the possibility of them killing me again
although, more as a main item, i liked zz´rot a ton, i used it as the last item for tryndamere, as it gave good enough resistances while giving movement speed on turrets and more split pushing power, it was not the best for fighting, but the moment they stop paying attention to you, their tower started to fell apart
Depending on the range to keep sanguines effect it could be a good item on lethality poke champs like Varus or even ezreal since it gives omnivamp (iirc)
Back in season 8 and 9 I used Ohmwrecker on Warwick Jungle and it was one of the most fun builds I ran
It was far from meta but it was super fun diving people using Warwick solo with Ohmwrecker in the early game
ohmwreaker used to be my first item on sona that surprised dive with a green power cord would destroy hopes and dreams of an adc very fast
What i'd do for adaptive helm is make it a bruiser/tank item that only gives tenacity HP and a little bit of mana, about 150 or 200, with the exchange that every time you take dmamge from all sources it'll get lowered for up to 40% magic damage and 25% for physical, either that or do a readjustment to transform adaptive into a MR thorn mail that applies grievous wounds to mages. For abyssal it's easy: just revert it to what it used to be, crysis averted.
if they change sanguine blade so the passive works then there is only 1 enemy, OR no other allies, i think it would be alot better. The main issue i have with the item is if two enemies go to counter your splitpush you cant do anything because the item is deactivated. This would also require a change on the stats to make it lower so it isnt mega busted when you walk into 5 by yourself but it might work
I think that abyssal is actually pretty good rn on the champs that can keep uptime on it but if you want to increase popularity making it so enemies you slow also take 5-10% bonus damage would make it viable in a lot of champs especially supports.
I would add to the sanguine blade different bonus stats based on how many enemy champions are near you. More damage when you're alone and more survivability when in teamfights.
My idea for Sanguine Blade is as follows:
New Passive: Damaging an enemy champion grants you 4 lethality and 10-40% bonus attack speed based on level for 3 seconds. Damaging isolated targets doubles this passive bonus and grants 3% bonus omnivamp in addition.
The idea behind this change is to make the item more useful in all situations while still encouraging solo fights like this item was designed for.
For Sanguine I'd add a clause to help it out a bit and see if it's alright.
'While near two visible enemy champions instead gain 4 lethality and 10% − 40% (based on level) bonus attack speed'
You can now sorta use it outside 1v1's, it's still not going to help in a team fight, has some counter and might not be weak as shit if you buy it and the enemy jungler takes that as an invite to live in top lane. It still wouldn't be made for everyone but it's still a strong early item and might help enable split pusher from a macro prospective as you can draw that much more pressure if you're pulling it off.
It still might not be enough but could make it more niche, likely more of a solo q pug stomp item and I'm not sure how fun that'd be to play against.

I think that to sanguine, the passive could be: if you have more allies than enemies close to you than you get your bonus attack speed
Or something like that
Tbh i have a few ideas but idk if they are any good. For abyssal, maybe making it like gargoyles and giving it dual resistances or making3% of the damage after you immobilize them true damage or something like that. For sanguine, you could just bunker down on the 1v1 or 1v2 idea and make it give no stats unless you are around 0-2 players and then make it for splitters through atk speed and vamp.
Sanguine Blade's passive could be changed into making it so the bonus is lost when close to 2+ allied champions instead of 2+ enemy champions. It stays true to its identity as a duel tool, since the bonus stats aren't that relevant when you are Xv1 you are almost certain to kill your opponent or at least make him flee, and become a much better tool for assassins and flankers since it allows them to kill better an ennemy trying to stay hidden inside their team while your own team is not present.
All the forgotten items on this list i used to the best of my ability
As a Garen main, when I was against Cassiopeia, Teemo or Heimer, I didn't forget Adaptive Helm. But in order to buy that item, I had to deal with one of those champions who are played by a niche base of players (bar Teemo) so the item by itself was very niche.
I think a really simple fix for sanguine blade could be to change its passive stat boost from triggering with a single enemy nearby, to making it trigger when you have no teammates nearby.
If gives you more control and peace of mind when the passive will or wont be active and reliable. Yet still fits into this playstyle of split pushing or looking for dangerous solo plays. And still has clear counter play in that the person using it MUST be alone and therefore must be leaving their team vulnerable to 5v4 situations.
The split pusher gets their special item, and everyone would have a clear idea of what that item does and what it means.
It would be much better than people trying to use it to split push now, then 2 enemies show up and suddenly youve lost your items power. Currently Sanguine blade almost punishes you for split pushing and rewards deathballing with a pick playstyle. Using a blitzcrank or whatever to isolate a single enemy.

I think sanguine could have its passive decay over like 4 seconds after spoting more than one enemy, so it wouldnt be useless but you’d have to act fast to take advantage of it

Abyssal Mask is key on Mordkiser since it increases magic damage taken, aka Mords passive. Couple that with Crystal Septor to slow enemies so they can't run away from you, and now they are taking more damage, all % HP damage, and its increased by Abyssal. However, if there are no AP/magic damage on the enemy team, its a little less useful vs more armor since its a full AD team. Mord is one juggernought where you can go full on hard tank (getting only Crystal for damage) and just 1v9 everyone.

i loved ohmwrecker having it bought as master yi on midlane it was a nice way to tower dive
Sanguine blade: When there are 2+ enemy champions instead of decaying the whole passive, you would get 50% of its passive versus 2 enemy champs, 33% vs 3 enemy champs, 25% vs 4 enemy champs and 20% vs 5 enemy champs
I think the main issue with adaptive helmet was that riot made it way too specific. If they made it like Demonic embrace - stacking resistances per second while in combat, or champion owning that item takes less damage from specific damage type the longer he's in combat. For example fighting cassiopea as a tank. The longer you fight the less magic damage you take.
I miss the version of Rageblade that gave you the stacking attackspeed, it was my favourite item to buy on Xin Zhao. Another item i miss, not really for the stats but for the appearance, is the Unholy Grail.
Sanguine blade should have a passive that stacks when you attack only one champion up to a certain amount and stops stacking if you hit a different champ. Could give stacks of leth and vamp
For abysal mask:
Currently: immobilizing enemy: 15% more dmg delt for 5s
Improved version: immobilizing enemy: 15% more dmg delt for 5s + When you get immobilized: you take 15% reduced magic dmg for 5s
Basicly a kinda anti-magicburst for tanks and bruisers. Maybe add a 20s cooldown to the second passive, or both to balance it a bit.
I think a good change to s.blade would be to change its pasive to trigger unconditionally but last only for 3-4 seconds
