    Fascinating...
    After 50+ years interest, the magic of over-the-air radio still knocks me out!
    Thanks, Jim. Great stuff!
    And, greetings from Cusseta, Alabama...

      Thanks Dave! I was hesitant to produce the video. I was not sure if it would be interesting. So thanks for letting me know. Dan's signal was strong and easy to understand with an emphasis on highs in his audio. For some reason there is more noise in the recording. So, I do appreciate your response very much. I will do a few more and see how it goes. Regards from Grass Valley in Northern California

      Indeed, Jim...
      It's this reaching out into space, making the connection, over the air that has this "Magic" that after all these years still gets my pulse going!
      I suppose only us radio buffs can understand this.
      I've enjoyed a number of your presentations, and appreciate your efforts here.
      All the best to you, Jim.

    As someone just about to take the certification test it's really nice to see examples of how contacts go and the terminology used. Thanks!

    Professionalism at it's finest Jim! Dan (G3VM) sounds like a wonderful gentlemen to talk to, if only everyone was that courteous and as i said before professional. Hope you are doing well regarding your health Jim, praying for you down here in southern Louisiana. As of right now I'm still messing about on 10 and 11 meters and SSB, got a group of wonderful friends that are old school when it comes to CB and SSB, we have normal conversations, none of that ridiculous garbage you normally hear on 11M. Hopefully within a few years I'll have at least my Technician license and i can get started in the world of Ham, also hope to talk to you one day as well, you are a great inspiration for me Jim! 73 my friend, Kevin in southern Louisiana!

    Great Video Jim! I really appreciate the look into your shack. It's good see how you do it. I was on 20 and 40 the last few days trying to get the hang of HF. I had a few contacts into Mexico and Canada but I still haven't made the hop over the pond. Maybe soon. I hope to talk to you soon as well. 73. Mike W4TRK

      Thanks Mike! Perhaps that would be the subject of a video. How to make contacts overseas. The timing is very important. 73, Jim W6LG

    Jim, your videos are excellent! I especially enjoy those where you are in QSO with another ham operator. I often post ham radio videos to my facebook page trying to interest some of my 4,500 Facebook friends to take up the hobby and your QSO videos are always my first choice! George W0XS

      Hi George,
      How are you? Thanks for writing. I am working on about 8 similar videos at this time. If there is anything I can do to help you, please let me know. I think you and I were licensed at about the same time; early 1960's. Please stay in contact with me. 73, Jim W6LG

    Jim,
    Somehow I always pictured you operating hands free. Boom mic, floor switch for PTT, etc. That must be one special mic.

    • @ham-radio
      @ham-radio  6 років тому +1

      It is not. Just a standard Astatic "G" stand. Not bad for a very old man! Thanks Kevin. 73, Jim

    • @KevinModerow
      @KevinModerow 6 років тому +1

      The "break in" of that PTT seems to be "semi"? In other words we hear the noise floor during your pauses. Am I saying that right?

    Jim what's that mic your using in the video? Looks like a old chicken choker D104 with a different head on it?

    • @ham-radio
      @ham-radio  6 років тому

      Not a D104. That stand was used with many microphones. That mic is a 1960's SSB mic called a D10a. It is dynamic and works great. I have 3 of them. Thanks for asking. 73, Jim
