@@HappyMonkeyYT I need to use up this ink ribbon my dot matrix printer has. Besides, I don't want to spend a dollar on all the copies, I could get a gallon of milk or more than a gallon of gas.
I've always loved the attention to detail in these videos. You can definitely tell this person actually lived through those times. Love the subtle humor too! Cheers!
I feel like, if Wordle were an 80s MS-DOS game, it would be on a non-copy-protected Floppy drive and released as shareware, so that it can spread to as many players as possible. Lingo, the TV show that Wordle was based on, had a MS-DOS game anyway, so this is more real than you expect.
They still have Lingo in my home country. It's a little different than Wordle. There is a word game combined with a bingo game. Even if you suck, you can still win with luck.
Thanks for the tutorial however, I still need to learn English in order to play. Are there any tutorials that teach English (preferably in the English language)? Thank you.
The matrix printer scream! Brings me back to the days when father dearest had to print out reams and reams of data on 2 giant printers. On the weekends of course, because otherwise nobody in the office could field phone calls or even in the warehouse below. Even the custom 'sound proof' enclosures with double glazing didn't help much; they just changed to sound pressure from head exploding to 'your ears will bleed'. What i did like was the 'carriage return' motors or the feed motors sounded like 'the' sample from The Bucketheads - The Bomb [These Sounds Fall Into My Mind] ua-cam.com/video/no1vf854aUc/v-deo.html
The words file would never be saved in a file called .sys, and with MS-DOS options were always given with a / so /E and never like unix with a dash (-ASC)
What is your favorite 5 letter word?
Harry
LINGO
@@bassybossy Very big chance that you are Dutch.
MONKE!!!
@@SquirrelMonkeyCom We all have our cross to bear :P
Wordle was so powerful it brought back this series
I hope it lets you print multiple copies, especially when you win in three or less guesses, since it would be fun to hand them out to people.
Go to the library and copy it on the Xerox for only 15 cents.

This is unironically the only video that finally made me understand how worldle works I am not making this up

Aaah, thank you!
@@SquirrelMonkeyCom No problem!
ATLA reference, right?
There's actually a BBS up today that has Wordle. Captain's Quarters II. It's great!
Cool! There are also several MS-DOS Wordle games. Under the name "LINGO".
@@SquirrelMonkeyCom such was also a game show on TV. we watched the everloving snot out of it on the game show network over a decade ago.
Nice to have this series back. We missed you.
Damn, you are one of the best ARGs out there. Even though it isnt, your videos are well done
Wait how is this an arg?
@@The-j-ester not every ARG needs to be scary, you know?
I’d play this more than the original wordle

Best channel on UA-cam
Thank you!
Agree
Someone seemingly doesn’t know a 1980s game show called Lingo that aired from 1987-88, though better known for its GSN run in the 2000s…
They still have Lingo in my home country. It's a little different than Wordle. There is a word game combined with a bingo game. Even if you suck, you can still win with luck.
ah now i know what wordle is
I'm so glad you're back, I love this series!
its great to see this channel uploading again i thought it had been abandoned
NICE! I was expecting your new videos! I love them!
Please never stop doing these.

Love the videos from this channel. I love the classic BGM music used.
What brand of Dot Matrix prints do you have????
I don't have one. We had a Star LC-10 when I was a child.

Glad you are back and are safe Squirrel Monkey, missed you. Hope you are having good day. :)
Thanks! Having a great evening here. :)
Hope your day is also great.
Very good video, as always!
the printer made me deaf
Hey, Can you do a VHS tutorial on "Scratch." (The programming language meant for kids to learn to code) please? Thank you!
Oh yeah that would be cool
I always love when i always watch your vids when i am home
I loved the animation of the magician and the text graphs! As someone who programmed in Turbo C++ I appreciate them! Tubular!
I REALLY miss this channel.
I have 80% edited of the next episode. Very soon!
Missed opportunity to talk about Windle (the Windows 3.1 edition of Wordle that someone actually made)
I would like an episode called If Streamlabs existed in the 1980s or 1990s

This is what i imagine wordle to be in the 80s. Also the agressive typing sounds made me burst into laughter (:
Very good ! Thanks for the video
HES BACK!!! YESSSS
Yay! I love your videos so much!
Awesome video! Can you do Geometry Dash in the 80s or 90s?
Great video!
I would surely enjoy playing this game :D
I love her voice!
"Knowledge of English." 🤣 That got me. Amazing video.
This is so cool
Great video as always 😁

7 months without videos, damn
I missed your videos! 😊
256kb??? for that??? Damn, Josh Wardle sucks at programming
Haha, good point. *EDIT* Well, I mean that 128 Kb would have worked as well. Warlde is an awesome creative programmer.
My Sinclair ZX Spectrum can do it in 16K.
How did you create that printer scene?
Did you use an actual printer from that time or faked it?
Yes, that's a real printer. Not mine though.
Love your videos Squirrel Monkey!
I guess I know what wordle is about now. Thanks.
Can you release the background music for your videos please?
I uploaded it on my second channel (lathe record video) and Soundcloud.
Wordle was definitely a doable game in the 80s.
Imagine bringing modern day computer to this ear
What would scratch look like in the '80s?
69 views!? :O
Good video btw! 💖
Love ur videos
When the world needed him the most

wordle will be definitely GOTY
Did you mean “ghoti”?
This game exist in the 80s in France. We got it on TV. And it was called Motus.
LOVE THIS SO MUCH
that day the series became 1 decade old
This is one of the videos with the topic wich could attualy be from the 1980s. I mean there were probably multiple "wordle like games"at the time.

you're back
There was Wordle in the 80s. It was a game show called Lingo.
the keyboard may be loud...
BUT THE PRINTER IS LOUDER.
It’s about time for my vhs software magazine, a gamein’ episode
Reminds me of something I would have played on my Commodore 64!
There is a Commodore 64 game that is exactly the same as Wordle. It's called Lingo.
Weird Paul in da house! :)
Omg I missed this series so much
Who else is here in 1 week?
Haha. UA-cam usually has 3 day lag at it's best and 3 year lag at it's worst.
I would like to see a sequel to the reddit in the 80's video but about how would how would the r/place event work in the late 80's or 90's
of course the funny thing is that wordle did exist in the 1980s (and the 1970s), except it was called Bagels
Suggestion: Club penguin in the 90s
The game uses text mode, does it work on CGA?
I mean Wordle feels similar to a lot of old word games
Print and paste on the door... great... kkk
🤣
0:31 What Version?
This game can be played once daily.
I had to look up at the 8086 could address that much memory. Turns out it can.
640K, tops. Beyond that, memory management software was needed to switch banks of extended memory.
Can you made "WarnerMax in 2006" video?
