Favorite thing is that I'm certain they're magical! They'll all be staring at something with their heads cocked and you go look...and nothing's there!! They are tuned into nature and amazing!
Years ago we raised goats and I bought a large floor model, stainless steel cream separator. It was amazing! I made butter, ice cream, and anything that you would use store milk for. Then we moved, had a lot of things going on and got out of goats, two legged kids with sports and PTA took over. When we got back into dairy it was accidental. My mom had a 3 year old Jersey cow that she could no longer take care of, so we bought her. She was a great cow, I still miss her, A friend came for dinner one time and we started talking about eggnog and how his family had the best recipe. I had read Farmer Boy a few times, and I love eggnog so we decided to make it. It was delicious! Daisy got old and passed at 14. We went for years buying milk, our last child married and left. Hubby decided we were too old for large animals, so I said fine I'll get goats! He said 'No way!" So I bought 2 Nubian milking goats. I have made butter but as you. have found out it's hard to get the cream to make it without a separator. I found your post where you were putting your new one together! Thank you so much for that post! Now I probably should tell him about my intension to get one .But first I need to get a buck.
Thank you! Soo good! And it was several days of making-you know how that goes, extra lofty goals that life laughs at. I thought i could get it done faster than reality 😆

I cannot wait to get goats for so many reasons but the eggnog and cajeta and other yummies in this video just make me long for dairy goats so so so much. And yes eggnog year round team here!
I am ashamed to say, I'm on year 4 of my milking journey, and just watching this video. The Lord has given me a child with poison ivy and the smoke from wildfires, to slow me down & keep me inside to face my milk hoarding issues. 😆 Year 1, we only drank the milk. Year 2, I tried a few batches of farmer's cheese & simple ice cream. But neither truly compete with store bought according to my family. There are only so many tomato, cucumber & cheese salads a girl can eat. 🥗 🧀 So, diving into making all the goat milk things. Really excited to try things I could potentially make shelf stable like the soup, carmel sauce, and I also saw on another channel, evaporated & sweetened condensed milk. I figure that will be nice for coffee and oatmeal over the winter months. I also am intrigued with the rolls. I am always stumped on how to use all that whey art cheese making. I usually chicken out or get impatient; ending up mixing it in with our fowl & pig feed to beef the nutrition up. I can't stand the thought of pouring it down the drain. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love your videos, Delci! I’m going to be picking up my first 3 goats tomorrow! They’re Nubians. A momma with her doeling and buckling. I’m so excited! I still need to order your goat binder, but your videos and emails have helped me learn so much to be prepared for them to arrive. As far as a cream separator, which one would you buy for yourself? Any particular one you would try?
Ahh! I’m so excited for you!!! Yay!! I’m still trying to officially decide about the separator. I *think* I’ve made up my mind but it’s such a big decision, I’m still making sure I’ve seen all the options. I’ll definitely share here when I make my decision 😊
Thank you! In this video I share about the recipe and below the video I think there’s a link to be able to print it out or read about it more. ua-cam.com/video/vCWqE_JX1jw/v-deo.html
I make mostly Chevére with our Goats milk. We have 6 does bred for spring this year... normally I milk 2.. This year I will be milking OAD hopefully all 6... 3 will be FF so... We’ll see exactly how much they will give/be for me. 😂. Lots of great ideas you’ve given me!
So far I have only made cajeta, farm cheese, and a custard goat milk ice cream! All were very delicious. And of course I cook and we drink the milk. Thank you for the video!
My son has shown an intolerance to dairy...I have milking goats though and am hoping he can have goats milk. I am most looking forward to goat cheese...there's a store bought goat cheese with cinnamon and cranberries that usually makes it to the shelf around November, and it is delicious! I want to make that! :) And cajeta! But we will hopefully enjoy drinking it for sure!
Great video. My wife has made homemade cheese from store bought cows milk, we are also considering making our own soap. We will keep watching as there may be a few goats in our future 🌈😃🤙
Love your videos thank you so much. So much great information. I have sheep but quickly wanting goats too. Would the goat information binder help for sheep as well ?
I just got my first 3 goats a mama and her 2 kids. Nigerian dwarf goats but this is the mamas 3rd kidding and she’s never been milked before. What can I go to help her get used to it? She’s such a nice mama but just a little skittish. I posted a video on my channel and show me trying to get her used to it. Can you check it out and let me know how to help her?
My most fav things about my goats, which they love me unconditionally, they give me great tasting milk, That I can make heaps of different drinks and foods out of. Best of all there my best friends ❤
Hello, first of all, great job, great farm and awesome animals you have, can you possible tell me what are the products you use for parasites in the goats and vaccines you do to them? Thank you ver much congrats
It’s really important to figure out a parasite program that will work in your own area. Not knowing your area and the worms that are most prevalent, I can’t say what to do. It’s best to have the goat’s poop checked for worms, identify what worms are the problem and then treat accordingly with the wormer that works the best to kill that type.
I love goat cheese with blueberries! I guess it will be a couple of years. I hear it's best to get a baby and wait until she's at least 14 months before breeding her.
Dont you have to drink this from a young ago to be able to acquire the taste? I had friends who had goats in Az and I would help her milk them and I tried it and I didn’t care for it but maybe its what she did or didn’t do to it to make it taste that way. But I am starting a goat farm and Id love to be able to drink and use the milk but I need a technique to make it taste as good as they swear it to be?
@@DelcifromALifeofHeritage small story: I have a gelded donkey that stays with my goats. I am in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina and predators are a real problem here. We have coyotes, bobcats and black bears. None of them will tangle with a donkey and my donkey has bonded with the goats and will not tolerate a predator. One of my neighbors a couple of miles away has a donkey with goats and I heard that a couple months ago that their donkey had killed a coyote that had tried attacking one of the goats. A gelded male donkey is usually a very affectionate animal and easier to train than your average dog. An intact jack is truly a jackass and dangerous.
I am so sad and UT just might be me as I am not as good as I once was at finding stuff but I cannot find you yogurt recipe or how you make yours fir my grandchildren.
I have it at the back of this video, but I really should separate it out and post it again with just that so people can find it more easily. ua-cam.com/video/vCWqE_JX1jw/v-deo.html Enjoy! 😀
My understanding is that you are NOT suppose to refrigerate raw milk. David Asher’s book specifies this. He says that the moment you refrigerate it you are slowly killing the good bacteria and changing their whole ecosystem. What do you think about this?
My favourite thing about goats is almost everything! (Except how my goats will jump on my back when I’m not looking 😅) Also, what do you feed your goats when you milk them? Love your videos ❤️
Yes! we drink it raw and have never had any problems! Just make sure that you are keeping the milk very clean from the very start! and keeping it in a very cold fridge :)
@@DelcifromALifeofHeritage Thank you very much for the information. We live in Alabama and we are wanting to start milking goats. I enjoy your channel. Thank you for all your information you give on care and feeding your goats.
