- Veteran guide Al Maas and Jason Mitchell fish the West end of Leech Lake in Northern Minnesota. These anglers work shallow cabbage beds with jigs to catch walleye. Mitchell also tediously catches a bonus muskie on 6 pound mono!

Walleye are sensitive to light. He prefers depth on clear days. Walleye dwells in deep river,lake,bay.

What sizes jigs were you using?
A lot of 1/8th and 3/16th ounce
so, what did they do to address the cormorant problem Al mentioned?
+Paul Deknikker they actually brought in a bunch of sharp shooters and removed many of them. That was several years ago now but it did seem to help improve the walleye fishery.
