megalodon is very cool shark that I love. It had the biggest bite force of any creature. It really was the tyrannosaurus rex of the ocean.

Excellent video, love the humour. Are you sure the Egyptian abelisaur was 6m tall ? This would make it a lot taller than Tyrannosaurus Rex
Yeah, he misread somewhere. This is from the Royal Society paper describing the find:
"We estimated the total body length of the abelisaurid individual represented by MUVP 477 by applying the method of Grillo & Delcourt [44] to the dimensions of the new vertebra (table 1). We calculated body length estimates of 5.30 m based on centrum length, 6.31 m based on centrum width and 5.79 m based on centrum height (average = 5.77 m). These estimated lengths indicate that the individual represented byMUVP 477 was medium-sized relative to other members of Abelisauridae. Other abelisaurid taxa with comparable estimated body lengths (i.e. 4-7m) include Majungasaurus, Viavenator and Xenotarsosaurus bonapartei [45]."
These are estimates of body length based on extrapolating from measurements of the "centrum", the central solid part of a vertebra. So based on centrum height this Abelisaurus was estimated to have been 5.77 meters long.

C14 dating works for about 50k years, the half life is nowhere near 65mya! Also, the important bit about the megalodon story was the Zn isotope analysis difference between O. meg and great whites
hey thank you for the comment, I had no idea Carbon-dating had a limitation regarding its effectiveness. I definitely dropped the ball on that point, and I'm glad you let me know!

I have to admit: while this is fun, it is weaker than the previous videos in the rewind in the science department because there some scientific errors here. For example that _Tyrannosaurus_ (and especially not one one million years younger than their extinction at 66 MA) could not be dated with C-14 dating because that exceeds the limits of C-14 dating in age (usually it is 10x the half live and C-14 has 5730 years, meaning the remaining amounts after 57 ka will be too small to make meaning full dating possible amounts). For End Cretacous fossil other radionuclides would be used, like U-Pb, K-Ar). And the video also makes it sound like plants are creating zinc de novo - they do not transmute elements!

I thought carbon dating was only good up to 50,000 years, not millions. So it couldn't be used for dating Megaladons, right? It's not good to mess up that kind of info, because the creationists jump on every misunderstanding and exagerrate it 1000-fold.
You're definitely right! I had no idea carbon dating had this limitation nor was my intention to mis-infom, but regardless I just got it wrong, plain and simple. Thank you for providing a correction!
