Just got my Ripley AF delivered 4 days ago. Im jealous of your weather. Waiting for the snow to melt here in Colorado before i get to ride. Watchin you gets me stocked. Love ur vids. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Jarod! Pretty spoiled with all year riding here in norcal. Hoping you're able to get out asap because you're going to love this bike. Let me know what you think when you get some ride time in. Thanks for watching
Thank you and happy it is helpful. The Ripley AF really is a great bike and the price for an Ibis is hard to beat. The hard part is finding one. Thank you for watching
Been riding a XL Ripley AF (6 foot tall)for about a month. First full suspension bike. In PNW doing a lot of free ride trails. Big tires works well for the terrain up here. Feels good on the downs and maneuvers well. Been working on my skills up to black diamond. Feels like it works well and I like how I can pop off a lot of stuff. Haven’t been on double black diamond but I can see those trails being this bikes limit. Bike is great and wouldn’t upgrade anything but maybe the brakes in the future. Great video and nice honest analysis 👍
at just under 6' i would be interested in seeing how an XL would feel. Compared to the Izzo and Spur the AF felt a little more compact but did show its playfulness. I think the AF can play well in black diamond trials so long as you are ready to slow it down a bit and maneuver around a bit more. Brakes are the only issue for me, while not horrible I would prefer a bit more bite and less lever throw. Thanks for watching Derrick!
@@StraightLine_MTB After riding about 2-3 per week for 2 months I changed out the fork air piston to bump up the fork to 140 mm. It made a big difference and I like it a lot more. Definitely feels like a more all around trail bike and added a lot of confidence. A lot more stable on the downs and it helps with the jumping. It also raised the bars a bit and brought it forward a bit. It made the reach feel perfect compared to before. Might switch up to a 36 at 140mm in the future to over fork it.
I can concur on your assessment of this bike taking to the air easily. I got my first ride in this weekend on some rowdier local trails and was catching some easy air. I believe its all to do with that DW link. It provides so much pop.
I think its more of a characteristic of aluminum especially riding mostly carbon for a while. I felt it in corners and in chunk at speed when maneuvering the bike around. Not hindering at all just something I feel on aluminum bikes. I'm just over 200lbs so could be my weight.
I didn't have an issue bottoming in fast chunk. The Ripley AF felt more like a 130-135mm bike to me and the wide rims and big tire could help contribute to that feeling. The Ripley AF felt like the most capable in the chunk when we did our Spur vs Ripley AF vs YT Izzo. I'd love to see a V5 Carbon Ripley with similar geo as the AF. Ibis is killing it with their offerings the last few years. Thanks for Watching Eric.
I dunno it be fine for the greens and blues I’m sure. I took my 2013 stumpy to the park and enjoyed it there. It was a 32 130 fork back then with skinnier tires than this bike.
@@jimmylai9174 also depends on rider and trails like you mention. Double blacks would be rough as longer travel really helps there. I'd do it just for a fun video 😆
Yeah double blacks would be hard. Well bring both bikes to the park. Lol. I’ll probably upgrade to this bike since I do my local so cal trails 99 percent of the time.
Just bought the Ripley AF for my 13 yo son. Got the bike shop to trade off the DH tires for some 2.4 Maxxis Rekons. The DH tires were just to much tire for a short travel bike and where we live. Otherwise, the AF comes with very good spec for a $3000 bike shop bike. I'd recommend the AF to anyone who has $3000 budget. My son now rides a better bike than I do. I intend to buy a new Spur in the near future. Thanks for the reviews!
I agree on the tires. I'd say dissector front and rear would be great with maybe a rekon on rear when dry. For an Ibis, it's a great value and really fun and playful.
I think the Ripley AF is capable enough for Auburn and great for Folsom area. I wouldn't hesitate to take the Ripley to Downieville but the Ripmo AF was nearly perfect for Downieville. Same with Georgetown, Ripmo will be more confident but Ripley AF is no slouch. Ripley's geo is more compact than the Ripmo. Both excellent and mighty really come down to which you can get sooner. For me I'd choose the Ripmo AF and try to shave some weight.

How does this channel only have like 2000 subs? Quality content mate!
I appreciate that.....working on growing 🙏
Thanks for these vids. The Ripley AF is a serious next bike contender for me and your content has just been simply awesome.

@@derrickj925 sounds like a rowdy rig. I'd be in for some more stiffness in the fork.
Great job, I really enjoyed this video and all the info. Love my RipleyAF.
Thank you. I'm not sure Ibis can make a bad bike. Really versatile offering for sure.

I agree. For a 33.5lb bike it gets up really easily and that compact feel really aids in throwing it around. DW Link is a winner for sure.
Great ride
It was!
I was wondering how the bigger tires would effect the ride. Another great upload brother.
The bigger tires have positives and negatives. But really help with grip and smoothing out the trail.
Great Video! You are a talented rider. Which hub had the best engagement of the three bikes?
Thanks brother...still have room to grow but time is running out lol. All three of the bikes had 36t POE I believe give or take a few.
2:35 of all the reviews I've seen on this bike, you're the only one that mentions frame flex. When is it most obvious for you on a ride?

Thanks for Sharing! 👍🏼
Thank you for watching! Looks like you have a great channel I will have to check out also.
Does the shock on the Ripley AF feel like it's bottoming out a lot on repeat chunky sections? Or does its travel feel a bit bigger than it is?

Nice upload again bro! Always a good run whichever bike you use🤘
Thanks ✌. Great choices out there right now....hard to pick a bad bike.
Ohh, I thought this was going to be a downhill bike park style. I think the 130mm would be super overwhelmed at an actual bike park.
Yeah, it'd be rough in a dh park.....maybe fun 😆

Ripmo or Ripley for auburn/folsom area riding with occasional Georgetown downeville days?

Do you sell the bikes once you are finished? I’m from your area and am looking for one.
Generally we do after we get our reviews done. I usually post on Craigslist and pinkbike.com
Have you sold the Ridley yet?
