@@marccaselle8108 if you use LaunchBox or Batocera you wont need to do much tinkering just load up the game and possibly the bios and your done
I recently bought a 3050 Micro with an i7 CPU and upgraded the memory to 16gb RAM, and it plays PS2 games and some PS3 games very smoothly. I can even play almost all Sega Model 3 games without any glitches.
That is interesting .. what model CPU was it ?
@@WickedGamerCollector i7-7700 and it has 4 cores and 8 threads. I was lucky enough to find a unit that had had that CPU for cheap, and I then upgraded the RAM. Feels good being able to play some of my older PS2 baseball and FIFA games and not have any glitches.

It's really easy to remove the fan on that pc. I have one the same. You just push the 2 clips on the air tunnel together. There's 2 arrows there. Can get to the ram in 5 seconds
might as well replace thermal paste while your there I guess

For emulation on pc I’ve chose an I72600 with a gtx 1050ti and 8 gb ddr3 1600mhz. It plays basically everything that I’ve tried. Ps2 runs great even at 1440p and when I’ve assembled the pc the total cost was around 300€

@@mikedisher30 today it’s a bit expensive to assemble a pc like that, but today you have so many options around. You can pick up a good android box and an sd card for something around 90€ and flash batocera or recalbox on the sd to play retro games.
@@mikedisher30 that second gen i7 is only about 20 pounds/euro on used market. but yes the graphics cards have gotten expensive due to supply being restricted. I dont think you even need a 1050ti to play ps2 properly...even a 750 or 1030 might be enough.
Cheapest option is to get a modded ps2 and add a 2tb drive full of ps2 games. Or do the same with fat ps3 80gb (1st gen) or any hacked ps3 with hdd full of ps2/ps1 games etc.
On a second note: I had better performance with an Haswell i7 (4th Gen) than with 6th or 7th... Currently I cut my setup down to an HP Prodesk mini PC with an i3-9100t, it plays well with 16GB RAM and up to PS2.
I had an i3-6100T and I still have an i3-7100T and both of these managed F-Zero GX on GC at native resolution at 60FPS. Update GPU drivers, run in high-perf mode. Use DX11. Allocate as much RAM to GPU in BIOS.
I didn't know you could use ram instead of vram?
@@BMPK As it's an iGPU, it can only use the system RAM...so you're basically turning RAM into VRAM, which the GPU can use. I think most max out at 512MB.
@@BMPK even nvidia and and/at I could shared memory use but the speed is solo bad..
You HAVE TO go dual channel memory

@@BMPK Yes. I can't remember what the setting called right now, but probably easy to find, and you have options like 512MB, 256MB etc. As person above says, dual channel is also necessary. I didn't mention this because Wicked Gamer said he had already done this at end of video.

Yes you can get much better performance. Emulation on Windows performs better because of DirectX. Play the same exact games on Windows, and they will perform better because of DirectX.

On Batocera I had a lot of problems with 3D games. On Windows it works fine. I can also play the 3D games with higher resolution on Windows. I have a i5-6500T processor with 8GB ram.
I have the same case but with a i5-9500t and in windows I was able to play games up to dreamcast on higher resolutions and no issues at all so you must give a try to see how it goes with windows
It's due to batocera being based on linux which restricts it from using directx

There was a voice only somehow that part was muted in the process 😅
One thing to tinker with on this batocera build is the graphics backend. Were you using openGL for all these tests? Or did you try Vulcan? Also in my experiences, some of the tougher to emulate systems work WAY Way better using Windows with DirectX as the graphics backend which you cannot use in Batocera..
Fun fact did not even see Vulcan option in the settings with this chipset 😲
@@WickedGamerCollector interesting...yeah that is messed up...I have i5 4th gen and can enable Vulcan for GameCube in Batocera.
Vulkan is for AMD chipsets really, Nvidia or Intel graphics use OGL/DX.
@@DailyCorvid wrong, intel and nvidia can also use vulcan no problem, alot of cpu integrated, and a ton of nvidia cards are supported by vulcan and will also get detected in batocera to be vulcan compatible

Besides it shouldn't matter which front end you use these days. Everything is super powerful now, that wasn't the case in August 2022. It is now Jan 2023 lol catch up Nvid!

I just ordered one on Amazon, refurbished. Intel i5 6500 2.5GHz, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, i also ordered a 1TB flashdrive to load Batocera into. I hope i can play all N64 games, and all the Ace Combats in PS2.
I have an Optiplex 3040 and I'm yet to run into any performance issues up to gamecube at all. Even with pretty high resolution scaling. My 3040 has the I5 6500 and I'm still running the single stick of 4gb of ram. Thought about adding another 4 for dual channel but can't find a reason to do so.
Any chance you tried super smashbro's gamecube version on it? If so how did it run?

Got a Dell latitude 5520 i5 4th gen Intel 3000 graphics card 4g ram plays up to PSP with some glitching but can't seem to handle VT cut scenes like the warriors could be better but happy for now. I made my own kit with SSD and managed to find the same enclosure on Amazon another wicked review mate 😄👍
I think 4th gen i5 for emulation with a dedicated gpu is sort of a sweet spot for emulation even switch runs fine on that
I have a couple of those 3050s lying around here...just found one at the bottom of a closet the other day, so that's how much I value them 🤣
If one of your 3050s has an i7 CPU, you struck gold! I have a 3050 with an i7 CPU and I can play up to some PS3 games.

Worth checking the CPU isn’t being throttled by a faulty or incompatible power adaptor. Will force the CPU to its lowest clock state.
U can buy one of those mini pc's for around £30 on UK eBay. Very good and cheap solution.
You can check in batoceta under system/information if the max cpu clock speed has been throttled. Highly likely in your case OP
its the intel HD630 intergrated gfx thats holding this one back. did you check in the bios to allocate more ram for gfx ?

In my experience its not so nuch the chipset but the emulators probleem ive treyed bloody raor 2 on 5 difrent emulators on 1 gig box like the super consel x
Some dind even start but some did 1 worked pretty good on 1 gig
I have a Dell 3080 mini with a 10th gen i5 10500t and that plays up to GameCube no problem, I'm running retrobat on windows 11,vit's a shame the 7th gen wasn't great
Sooo...has performance with this chipset improved at all with Batocera recently? I've been using an older Lenovo M93p with i5 4570T and this has been outstanding, but I fancied something with a bit better Saturn performance and PS2 so I got a HP with the same processor. Have I wasted my money?

@@sillyputtyoscar Answered my own question anyway - yes it's better but not by a massive amount. There are some bugs in newer Batocera releases too. Dolphin seems to crash a lot.

I don't know if you tried switching the resolution? I had the same problem on a 3050 and changed the resolution to default to 1080p or 720p and it fixed the problem

@@WickedGamerCollector Thanks for the fix and the video! These little beasts are looking good for what they are, especially if you'll find a good configuration. I wonder if the performance under Windows would have been a bit better due to graphics drivers and that kind of stuff. Sometimes Linux graphics drivers can be quite inefficient.

A 7th generation I5 is enough !! BUT - you keep buying processors with the T at the end - these are low-watt chips and their performance is not as good as the G models - so remember, always take an Intel with graphics on board with a G - because it's even enough Intel Pentium G3250 @ 2x 3.2GHz from the 4th generation it always works up to Gamecube / Wii

ABER - du kaufst ständig Prozesoren mit dem T am Ende - das sind low watt chips und die sind in ihrer performence nicht auf dem niewo wie die G Modelle - also merke nimm immer ein Intel mit Grafig on board mit einem G - denn reicht sogar ein Intel Pentium G3250 @ 2x 3.2GHz ab der 4 Generation klappt es denn imm bis Gamecube / Wii
Ist bei diesen Mini Kisten halt der Standard... Konnte selbst mit der alten A8 APU von AMD bis zur PS2 rauf zocken, aber im Vergleich muss man dann doch kurz festhalten, daß ein System mit 65 watt TDP im Schnitt 50 watt aus der Steckdose holt, meine olle PS2 Slim aber nur 30... Ohne Software dazwischen.

🤔 Wicked, we love you buddy, but I have to say that after a few videos your recycled footage of things like the controller-kit only serves to make me skip a few seconds because it prolongs your video more than nescessary. And don't get me wrong, if they were sponsors, I'd gladly accept your promotion.
Other than that I like a close look at those devices, if only for those who always kept asking about "budget-diy-solutions".
An error that I see many times is the "idea" that all the people have when they say "I have an Intel i5". In the correct name, there is a final "T" that means that it is the less powerful i5 of this serie. Some CPU has also the "U" version, but it is less powerful than the "T". Why it the meaning of all this discourse? The i5-7500 is powerful that an i5-7500T and it could be enought for emulate some games that the "T" version won't. This tiny machine is for an office and it can't run applications that require too many resources

I just did a simple RAM & SSD upgrade. Mostly used for office work & video watching. But if I decided to get a custom mini itx pc, I’ll probably use my 3050 for emulation up to PS1

My experiences w/ used mini pcs have always been mixed. It seems like alot of them are just wore out. Idk maybe new thermal paste may help. Im typically not a thermal paste guy. If the pc runs slow I just rob the parts from it and chunk it to the trash…. A man always needs extra screws LOL

Nope.. you can't connect to pandora systems.

Tbh performance doesn't look that much better than on my current j4125 to be really worth it.
In fact on several systems the celeron performs way better

With Intel I have the feeling of a random gamble.
I have the i5 7500 in a sff with 12gb of ram. Runs game GC at 720p all day and sometimes all night
Amlogic and rockchip... never had anything good from them. Tired of them pushing the same low-end crap. I keep watching these videos in hope one day someone finally pushes out a box with a flagship or near flagshipmchip inside. Heck even a 750g or 835,845,855, or even 865 plus...
But this stuff is just rehashed crap. How many times do we need to see the s905x in yet another junk Chinese board?
