YAY new vlog!! I am definitely more like you and Katie, where I use the first draft to get the story down and then grind through a more grueling second draft. This happens in my short stories as well, so I feel like this is just something I live with HAHA, though I will say, I do more plotting now than ever before. I'm positive your copy editor will understand if you need to move your deadline hehe 💕
Seeing you so excited is honestly so inspiring! I just turned in revisions to my agent and by the time I sent them I was in my “I never wanna see these words again” era LOL. Hopefully the next time I see that manuscript, your enthusiasm for your own project has somehow seeped over to me through the screen 😅❤
I'm so late in commenting but I am so inspired by your passion for this project, and it's genuinely so fun to watch you go through this process!! I hope your big move hasn't been too stressful
I love your attitude towards both obstacles and milestones, its really inspired me just now to get some writing done so just wanted to write a quick comment to say thank you and good luck with the rest of the 2nd draft!
Girl I'm so excited for you I'm internally screaming, i also haven't been writing for a long while but this vlog is a motivation for me that says we all have ourself packed with life stuff but we shall always slip in that time for writing.❤❤❤
I’ve been absolutely loving your videos. Glad you were able to come up with a solution to the plot problem you were having! Honestly I put it in my head for years that while I like writing, writing a book or stories isn’t really what I want. But recently I’ve been feeling the itch to go back to more creative forms of writing and watching you and other authortubers has been such an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your journey ❤ and good luck with all the revisions!
I loved this writing vlog. I didn’t know how much I needed to see this! I too am in the process of editing my ninth chapter! This was just the inspiration I needed!
that feeling of a solution (or at least the beginnings of a solution) just popping into your head is really the best feeling. that's what happened to me, I got stuck 80k words into my draft right at the end feeling like something about the entire story was just OFF, then in my head the solution popped. Thankfully, unlike mine, your solution didn't require rewriting the entire draft sksksks (tbf tho, my scrapping and re-writing my draft was 100x better than the previous 80k I had written AND I managed to finish the entire draft which I haven't been able to do in literal years so yay!) I'm waiting for feedback from readers now before I dive in to revision. Got 1 person's feedback which was INCREDIBLY helpful so I'm excited to get my hands back on my book.
YAY! honestly great that you ended being so much happier with the rewrite, well worth it!! hope the rest of the feedback is super helpful, best of luck w revision!
It's so motivating to see your progress. I am too on my journey to write my debut fantasy novel, and I feel soooo passionate about the project. I'm setting on 20k words now and looking back at the start I can't believe I wrote all of that 😂
I needed to hear "there are no waisted words." I started my storytelling journey by DM'ing DND games for my friends. Over the last 4 years it has improved greatly and ultimately inspired me to start writing. I don't have any real experience with writing and I'm discovering how hard it is to go from one medium of storytelling to another. I'm in draft 1 and I have already needed to rewrite several chapters because they didn't feel right. I have also accepted that draft 2 will be mostly a rewrite and all of that leaves me feeling defeated and deflated.
if anyone ever feels bad about editing their book and it being hard... I wrote my first book over the course of 7 years, realized it needs to be split into 4 separate books. I am currently rewriting book 1. And when I say rewriting, I mean it. I had to scrap that entire section and start over, because 13yo me vs 23yo me are two drastically different people I thought that books 2-4 will be more normal editing, just polishing what is already in there. But the way it is going, with my skill being a whole planet away now, I wonder how much of the original will stay, and how much of the series will I end up gutting to the bones to flesh out anew I can do this. And so can you
AHH, new vlogg! Got here as quick as I could 😮💨 I was wondering, what is the job you currently have? I want to be a writer professionally, but I’ve heard it’s not wholly sustainable. How do you balance writing and working to…live? Lol
Yes, I struggle with that feeling of jeez did I waste time tweaking this and I might never use it? but I seriously need to keep in mind that it's helping me in the long run. Same, with the note on wanting everything to be good especially right off the bat and I've only just really begun this writing journey. Feels like you're reading my mind lolol I keep feeling this not just about the prose but also the plot and worldbuilding like what if I can't do the plot justice? What if I can only make it average and not as complex as I think it could be. Is my worldbuilding lacking?
framing revising as a craft exercise is actually such a good mindset !!!!!! no words are wasted words !!!! stealing this 🙂↕️
everything is a ✨craft exercise✨ if you want it to be!!🙂↕️
