Thanks for the good tip Darren. Still waiting for your review on the VX5000.
Hi Darren! All I have to say is thank you for sharing your tricks and knowledge : )
And all I can add to the moment is a big "You are Welcome"
Very good videos! Funny and informative. Quick question, what would you recommend and how would you go about cleaning the high gloss black plastic trim inside the car that has dust without scratching it all up.
this worked great and I used super degreaser on my wife's light leather seats and they look great! Thanks for the tips!
Drew Wilmot do you have to dilute the degreaser?
Hey Darren, I really like your videos, there really helpful, thank you for making them. Do you have any method of restoring faded clear coat on a car?
Yes. See this link: www.best-auto-detailing-tips.com/polish-cars.html
Darren, I just used solution finish on my car's trim. Amazing! I'm really happy how it turned out and it was super easy, thanks for the recommendation in your videos.
- I was wondering do you wash the microfiber towels/applicators once they get solution finish on them?? Thanks!
Not in my world. I will use all the sides/corners of an applicator then simply throw it away and start anew.
Thanks Darren, I like how you explain as you demonstrate, it really is easy to understand
For Future reference- I remove suntan lotion from my Black leather seats with Dawn and water. Works really well.
I use a damp Mr Clean Magic Eraser sponge and it comes right out.
No heavy chemicals needed
Special thanks to my wife for the idea
Roberte1
Robert Escalona is this for just spilled lotion or already set in? Thanks!
Lauren Kelly Yes works even after months. Thanks for this tip Robert E. Saved my Model 3 Leather seats.
This worked for me, too! Thank you so much! :)
Thanks for the tip because the product that the man in the video is using isn't available in my country .
Thank you Robert for the advice for getting the sunblock off my leather seats and saving me money!!!! I just went and wiped my seats off using the magic Easer sponge with some Dawn soap and it worked!!! Please thank your wife for the idea, she is one smart lady!!!!
I enjoy watching these videos and would enjoy even more if you would invest in little better sound quality. I have watched lots of your videos and there are cars passing by and other little intrusive noises. Some kind of on-person microphone should fix that. Thanks a lot on these videos please keep them coming! :)
Awesome video as always!
This may work on black leather, hard to say. Tried it on light gray leather on a S-class Mercedes and it was a total wipe out.
Not only did it destroy the leather that was discolored yellow from the sunscreen, it took the leather down to its base with no possibility of any type of restoration other than redyeing the upholstery. This may actually work on somewhat dirty interiors, but I would highly caution using it to remove any type of sunscreen stains that you may encounter on your interior. I will use the rest of my gallon of McGuire's Super Degreaser for what it was probably intended for. Cleaning a greasy engine.
love your channel man!
Any tips for removing sunscreen from exterior paint? I have relatively recent (~1 week old) sunscreen stains on my car's doors and handles.
Great detailing vid per usual! I've been able to get out every type of upholstery stain with this method, accept olive oil on leather. Even with a more concentrated solution of super degreaser it still shows back up. What do you recommend Darren?
Just like oil on your driveway....it is not always possible to remove every stain from every type of material. I think you are stuck with this one.
Darren, it would be awesome if you could do a video or two on boat detailing. Possibly about starting a boat detail buisness. It would be appreciated greatly.
@Auto Fetish Detail, just wondering but what sort of techniques do you use for drying off a vehicle after being washed, also which sort of towel?
Hello Darren would you normally apply x wax after you cleaned the sunblock off to give it some protection?
Hey Darren quick question. besides meguiars xpress wax. Do you use any other leather conditioner??? thanks in advanced. Great video as always
I do, but it is an area I don't over-think due to the fact that once again, 99% of the time, any leather within a car has a clear protective coating to it. So any actual leather conditioner is really not a product touching the natural leather itself. From an aerosol dressing, to Xpress wax, to a dedicated leather conditioner, I have tried and use many different types. But mostly I believe the biggest battle with leather is keeping it clean, rather than worrying about the conditioners. Also since I am constantly testing endless products, I always have some new product with me and decide from moment to moment what I am going to test and start using to see how it performs in the real world.
great video. Hey Darren, do you have any tips for cleaning seat belts?
I'm not Darren but I can help u with that. Pull the seat belt and clamp it (something like the battery clamp but with rubber protective/plastic tip). Spray your cleaner but not saturate it n then rubbit with soft nylon brush. Same technique on how cleaning fabric seat. N then wipe it off n let it dry. But watch out for 'ring effects'. Repeat application if necessary.
Hey Darren what brand of scrubbing pad are you using. I enjoy watching you videos
See the white 3M scrub pad on this page towards the bottom: www.best-auto-detailing-tips.com/car-upholstery-cleaner.html
love what you do
It worked. Thanks for the tip.
Dareen What do you use to remove paint from leather? Like a construction car
hallo darren ty for the good and educational video's!
I just started detailling and i have a question.
Can i use meguiars a.p.c. or s.d. for preperation in exterior trim or not ?
Absolutely. Works very well. For excessive build-up of traditional silicone dressings, you can also go with straight rubbing alcohol.
HEY DARREN THIS DAVE AT DAVES DETAIL IN TECUMSEH OKLA. LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. WHAT DO YOU TELL JOHNNY CUSTOMER ABOUT CIGARETTE SMOKE.
I tell him "thank you! I appreciate the job security. And good luck with your health".
Super job
My tan leather seat bottom has turned a greenish shade from sunscreen on my legs. Any tips on getting it back to tan?
Darren, love your straight talk videos. I feel like coming down to grab a beer with you! Cheers from Alberta, Canada.
Thanks Man!
hey i'm from alberta too! you're awesome!
Hello I was wonder what you would use to remove sun screen from paint
hey there, whats the degreaser spray you use to clean the engine bay? it worked so well on your engine bay clean video. thanks
This is the same product I use on engines. For engines, I dilute 4:1. For upholstery in this case, it is 10:1
Darren - do you have any videos on scenting a car and products you use/like. I'm especially interest in the new car smell. I can't seem to find scents that last. As a pro do you charge more for this etc.
I am not a huge fan of scents as a rule and don't use any. Also as a rule, most of my customers comment on how good their car smells after I am done detailing it anyways. They say it either just smells really clean, or they say it smells like a new car again.
Thx for the insight Darren! Question..... How much more would you charge for something like that? I'm based in Miami and I'm a car detailed. I have those same issue
I don't charge anything special. I simply assess the car before I begin to see what I am in for, then set the price based on all the variables of the particular job.
do u clean all leather like this or do u reccommend using a traditional leather cleaner?
What about removing sunscreen on non-leather seats?? 😬any advice??
Hi there, I just tried this and it didn’t work. I’m assuming I just keep reapplying? At what point do I change course?
What would you use on mate finished wheels?
I live in Australia, where can I buy that stuff
Thanks man
ok im done lol keep it up darren your videos taught me alot.
Hi, I need some of this degreaser. I clicked on your link but cannot find the product?
How do you clean windows without streaking? I have tried many different ways and just can not get it right!
Thanks. My wife has her cor COVERED in sunscreen both inside and out. It's a mess.
what do you use to clean exhaust tips?
curious to know whether this is for leather, or for the fake leather. Teslas now have the latter. Having a hard time getting it out. The zinc lotions leave spots everywhere
thanks boss
Will this solution ratio work on black exterior trim on a car??
Hy Darren. I know you like both Megs super degreaser and APC. They are great products, nothing bad to say about them but have you tried Optimum Power clean? I find it great for both enterior and exterior depending on the dilution ratio which is ussually 3:1 for exterior and 8:1 for interior.
Please do a video on cleaning cloth seats!
I have not tried that Optimum. And I do have a video on cleaning cloth seats. Do a search on my channel for car upholstery cleaning.
Ha....I probarbly missed that one. Ill have a look. Thanks
I need urgent help: how do I remove baby oil from the back of the seat? It’s leather interior! I tried to remove it with baby wipes but didn’t work. I used baby oil as body lotion and it transferred on the leather seat!
Are these product good for household items. Leather sofa, upholstered furniture and indoor carpets. Say like living, dining and family rooms carpet. Thanks.
Pretty much any car detailing product I use and have, I also use in my house in virtually the same ways/methods.
Hey I got a minor chip how much do you charge?
In my experience, if I use PH balanced sun screen, any body to seat transfer actually will improve the look of my leather ;)
That, and it will keep your car leather from getting sun burnt.
Hey what do you charge for something like that?
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU. I live in SoCAl and have black everything in the interior of my car. Here is another interesting fact. My Prius has had o have it's steering wheel changed twice in 5 years. Why? because there is something in the material that covers the steering wheel that has a weird reaction to even the tiniest amount of chemical sunscreens. This causes the fake leather coating on the wheel to peel. It looks like leprosy, Fun, fun, fun living in the sun. I tried to keep sunscreen from getting anywhere near the wheel after I had to replace my first steering wheel, but still 3 years later my replacement wheel is peeling.
from 2:45, regarding the coated leather on the modern cars, does that mean "Leather Conditioners" are pointless ?
Pretty much. I don't over-think actual leather conditioners for that very reason and as a rule, only choose a dressing versus a labeled conditioner for the visual results it can deliver if I am in need. 99% of the time, I simply clean leather and don't apply any type of conditioner or dressing.
I don't know why i just laughed when Darren starts off talking leaned in on this video.
whats youre favorite metal polish for crome and can you make a video detailing a motorcycle please thanks
I believe he uses Flitz metal polish.
I don't really have a true "favorite' metal polish. Most of them simply require lots of elbow grease. I do carry Flitz and Granitize with me though.
This product is darn good used it on my boat and got everything but the orange stains on the white vinyl from sun block. I do see some color coming off on my white rag but it dosent look like its coming off at all. I have tried 3 or 4 applications.
Hello, Will this work for finger paint dust ?
Don't know. Give it a try and let us know.
whats best thing to use
would i be able to do this on cloth? if not, what would work on cloth seats?
nevermind, just saw the info at the four min mark
What soap do you use on exterior?
I don't use any dedicated car wash soaps for exteriors. Try and figure that one out....
Can’t find it on Amazon
I believe that is synthetic leather right Darren?
Radhwan i
How about coffee on white leather...
Is it hard to start a detailing business? I want to do it so bad I just don't know how or what to do to start out.
You may check his website. Tons of guide how to become a professional detailer.
Yes...if all else fails, try my website. Tons of info: www.best-auto-detailing-tips.com/car-detailing-business.html
Thanks Daren Auto Fetish Detail and Radhwan I've been trying for a while only got like 2 cars because I live in such a rural area. To many farm trucks lol thanks for the advice as always
tire stain out of cream colored leather seats???
If I Have alittle bit of chlorine on my body from the pool could it run my leather seats
If it is not ruining your body by this point, unlikely it will have enough effect on your cars upholstery. Unless you are getting into your car dripping wet, saturated with chlorinated water.
+Auto Fetish Detail thanks Darin sorry if I spelled your name wrong always dry as I get into the car I was just super paranoid about it
I'm looking for a good solution for cleaning dusty vents.
Paint brush
did you just break one of your rules Darren? sitting the bottle on the seat..lucky I'm not from the forums lol :)
I was wondering who would be the first to take note of that and make a comment. But yes; there I am breaking one of my own rules. And despite the appearances, I was fully aware of what I was doing and confirmed that the bottle was safe and free from any contaminants that might be on the bottom of the sprayer.
Tesla uses vegan leather, not real leather. Would your method work on real leather?
Isn’t all Tesla leather *vegan leather* another word for plastic
Tesla's do not have real leather
Sniff your finger... I do that for everything I touch.
second too lol
first
Hey there, hold on a minute, not every woman uses makeup etc just to look good for men! Good video though. Thanks
thanks boss
