- I spend 3 days Solo winter camping under a tarp in the Snowy Mountains of NSW, Australia. The weather put on quite the show, with the sun breaking out at last!

Boys and girls, he’s only gone and done it again 👌
Hahaha
Thank you, not only for service to the country , but to my entertainment. Every achievement, I make now, I flex and Say" We've done it again"
Bravo mate. Loved the opening monologue and the shots of the light on the mountains looked like a bloody painting. Nature baby! Come get some. Also, looks like you had a lot more snow compared to last time we were there.
Thanks mate. It was honestly so surreal out there.
And yeah, so much bloody snow 😂😆
Another stunning opening monologue and music to match. Your videos are becoming my weekend staple. Fantastic job once again ❤️
That’s awesome, mate! Thank you 🙏
Hopefully I can continue to deliver the goods with the help of Mother Nature 💪💪
Great reflection on things. Keep doing what you do. Document your journey and your kids and their kids will enjoy it for years to come.
The first 1:50 of this video is what keeps me coming back here. This channel offers something a bit deeper than just hiking/camping and I appreciate that. Keep being unique.
Look at it!! Nature baby… we’re out here. We’ve done it again! - Mattsy
Thanks a lot mate. I’m glad you enjoy those parts, I really like writing those and although it won’t happen every video it’s definitely something I will continue to bring back. I’m just glad it hasn’t been coming off cheesy 😂😅
I totally agree wow
Love your style, keep it up, don't change
Thank you mate! I won’t 🙏🙏
Your videos are food for the soul!
Thank you! I’m just trying to pass on the soul food I’m seeing out there 😄
Enjoying the content and locations Mattsy, it’s inspiring me to get back into hiking and snow camping. I also love the banter. “It doesn’t matter how much sand is in your boots or how wet your underpants are” is my favorite so far.
Haha! Even I forgot about that line 😂 It’s bloody true though. Thanks for following along mate 🙏
You've done it again, Mattsy, you've done it again! Spectacular landscape! I literally was in awe in front of my screen and could feel your excitement! Cheers from Canada, Frederic
Haha we have, mate! Thank you Frederic 🙏 I think these snow videos might be doing the rounds again because of the time of year for you guys over there haha
That was a bloody awesome trip. I’ll be doing some more snow trips down here in Tasmania over the next couple of months. 🙌
Your “Behold” Nature moment is bloody golden. You had me in stitches. Like Indiana Jones in that classic moment saying “water!”, “Water!” Mattsy is saying “Nature! Nature!” As he wades through the snow to the gleaming temple of mother nature and mountainscapes! Thanks again man!
Hahaha! I know the scene well 😂😂😂
I’m now seeing it in a whole new light 😅
Mate something special here. Almost got a bit teary with the views and beautiful soundtrack. Thanks algorithm
Thanks a lot mate 🙏 Such a beautiful landscape with all that snow around 🙌
I spent years feeling guilt for wandering alone in the high country, I enjoy the solitude, the alone time.
🙏🙏
It's a magical place - and 'nature emergencies' are kind of what I live for to be honest. I landed in the Snowy's in my 30s, after quitting an office job, unable to live by that blueprint designed by others. I went on a hike, I saw snow, I was ... there. Really, there. And in many ways, I've never left. (I've just found other nature to spend time in, other quiet to experience.) Nearly twenty years later, and your monologues remind me of the beginnings of my own love affair with our lands, with the quiet out in nature, with those glorious nature emergencies. Thanks for another wonderful adventureand meditation on life and nature Mattsy.
That was a lovely comment to read, Fiona. Thank you for sharing. 🙏
I’m glad you took that leap of faith and found something more you! I think a lot of people are too afraid (some with good reasons) to try a new direction or path, especially later in life. I encourage anyone who is unhappy with their current situation to just try. 👌 There’s a lot of different ways of living out there if you’re open to seeing them.
That morning view after the long sleep was 😮❤. So funny when you were almost eaten by the bush trying to enjoy your brekky 😂
There’s always a bigger fish 🐟😂
It was heavenly 🙌
Mate, absolutely loved it! Your appreciation, love and connection to nature is beautiful to watch. It’s genuine, you can’t fake it. Sensational stuff mate, keep it coming.
Thanks a lot brother 🙏
I truly appreciate it ❤️
I bloody love the high country. I just came back from a trip up to the Cape, and as much as I love it up there, there's nothing that can replace rolling out some canvas next to a fire under a gum in the cold. 🍻
You’re not wrong, mate. It very quickly became my favourite place in the world that I know. 🙏 Just stunning out there. It all speaks to me.
Wonderful video. Thank you for confirming that Mother Nature is still alive in some parts of the world, despite our best efforts otherwise.
Yes indeed. Very true. We’ve got to look after what is yet to have greedy hands placed all over it
Nice one digger, that was excellent. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks mate! Thank you for watching 🙏
The scenery was just majestic…..so absolutely beautiful……simply stunning! 😊
I felt pretty bloody lucky to have it all to myself out there 😄
Very lucky
Beautiful scenery, loved seeing the horses and what you were saying at the beginning ❄️🏕🇳🇿
Thank you 🙏
It’s a pretty majestic place that’s for sure 😊
I dont know how many times i was just lost in the scenic beauty. I was imagining myself there, filled with happiness, less heavy.
Keep going man.
Mate, I spent so much time off camera just staring at everything out there. It really was quite magic. I felt very lucky to be there.
That was fantastic! Thanks for sharing those views and for putting up with the cold to show them to us! We're with you, wherever that path takes you! Cheers
Thank you very much 🙏
Here’s to many more scenic adventures 💪
This was an absolute pleasure and joy to watch. Thank you 😊
Ohh thanks Amy 🙏 I’m glad you enjoyed it. Next one is looking good in the edit too! 😄
💯 on the opening poem as always Mattsy and loved how you held the retro ‘bacon tune’…👌 stunning place….👍
Thanks a lot mate! It’s all about that retro cookup tune 😂 Cheers for watching
Some winning camera work Mattsy! Your excitement at these incredible landscapes definitely translates over the screen to me. My heart starts to race a bit when you declare a nature emergency haha. Inspiring as always. Thank you for taking us to these places. :-)
Haha! I’m glad the alarm bells start ringing through the screen 😂😂
Again, so hard not to be stoked in a place like that! Thanks for following along mate! 🙌
Thanks. Another awe inspiring adventure. Magnificent photography, great narration. Safe travels
Thanks for watching, Ron 🙏
Thanks Matt. Great everything. Glad you got over the bout of whatever it was.
Thanks Chris 🙏🙏
So was I haha Imagine if I had slept through that beautiful morning.
Absolutely stunning nature emergencies. Thanks Mattsy.
They were hey! I’m glad I didn’t sleep through that one 😂
Thank you!
Bloody awesome mate.
Thanks Tim!
Love your opening narratives Mattsy, the vulnerability is powerful. The music during the opening was perfectly in sync too.
Cheers mate. The music was pretty powerful wasn’t it. I loved watching it come together with the footage. It inspired the writing.
so cool.. ,oh yeah, this one was amazing... the nature emergency @75! Lol 😂 love your soh!
Dude you seem like the best guy to go camping with!! You got a new subscriber!
Haha! Thanks mate 😆 And cheers for subscribing! I hope you enjoy the adventures 🙏
Thanks for another great video mattsy!! They seriously get better everytime. 🎉
Thanks mate! I’m glad you think so too 😅😂 The funny thing is I feel like the editing process is easier these days and a lot more enjoyable too. I’m hoping I’ve cracked the code from here on out haha
@@TheSillySwagman i reckon so haha, hopefully we'll see some more content soon! 🍺
Spectacular is hardly a good enough word to describe the Snowy Mountains in any season Mattsy i just love the place .
You’re not bloody wrong mate. Not at all. I love it there
Mattsy. You have done it once again. Great content. Love it mate. Smile on my face whole time. Cheers
Haha that’s wicked dude 😄😄
Thank you! And thanks for watching 🙏
Can’t beat a nature emergency. Sitting on that Rock/bush was some funny shit. Love your work mate, here for every upload. May you forever walk on warm sands. 🫶
Haha! I had been looking at it the whole time I was there thinking it was another Boulder. How wrong 😂
Thank you mate 🙏🙏 Back atcha
Gorgeous place and beautiful atmosphere! Perfect way to walk around and explore my friend!
It certainly was! Thanks for watching 🙏😄
Always enjoy your episodes Jas ❤
Thanks Amz ☺️☺️
Beautiful country Mattsy! You guys will find that elusive emu on one of these trips! Thanks for sharing my friend 🤠
It sure is! Haha We shall see about that! I am determined 😆
Fark yeah man! All's well that ends well! Good job Mattsy
Cheers mate! I couldn’t agree more 😄
That was cool, the morning view pretty special, one note on your dinner, looked tasty but I think Scotty will cast some shade on presentation 😂 Bring on part 2 ❤
Thanks Deb 😄
Haha! I like to think I do it just to spite him 😆😆
Love your adventures. Magical Aussie scenery 💜💜
Thanks Rhonda! I’m glad you’re enjoying them! 😄🙏
Really enjoyed the intro to this one mate, very well done.
Thanks mate 🙏
Listening to it back actually got myself thinking a lot as well. A bit the same as keeping a journal/diary I suppose.
Absolutely splendid!!! So motivated for a snow camp. Great video mate
That’s great to hear! Thank you 🙏🙌😄
Stunning land. stunning videography, great banter...You rock mate.
Thanks Martin! Absolutely. I love that place!
@@TheSillySwagman you can tell by the throthing...😆
gradually working my way through your great content here, have subscribed!
Awesome content, locations, music and philosophy, thanks heaps
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the rest of the content. I’ve just decided to go full time with it so hopefully you’ll be seeing a lot more of this country 😄
@@TheSillySwagman congrats, well done you! Looking forward to it
congrats Mattsy! 3 days winter camping is no joke and you managed it with style and a smile. the boy knows his s**t. 👍🏼✌🏼🖖🏼
Thanks mate! Yeah it was a big week of new experiences. Mother Nature definitely saved the toughest night for last 😆 That’ll be in the next video. Such a beautiful place though
@@TheSillySwagman years ago I did some winter camping in Northern Quebec and Ontario (Canada). not the easiest way to go camping: frozen boots and food consumption about twice normal. you have my full respect for your outing. 🫡
Top notch intro Mattsy bloody Oscar worthy! Another cracker looks amazing out there. Inspiring mate!
Thanks Justin! I really appreciate it mate. Nature really put on the full show that trip. 🙌
Finally got a chance to sit down and watch the new episode....... STUNNING! P.s. I'm stealing the "nature emergency" phrase, love it!
Hahaha go for it mate! 😂
Thanks for watching 🙏
Looks like the third vid is going to bring the goods in terms of landscape as well 🙌
Hello mate..
I love the nature Emergencies they're brilliant.
The scenery is like a grandeur Art piece but only 1000 times better..
The lone emu of the snowy landscape escapes again lol.
Did you ever find the elusive beast of the snowy lands..
Have an amazing rest of your week.
Love your channel. I feel the same way as you in many comments that you have made. I have camped Oz many times and then started camping in the Himalayas of Nepal. A life changing experience.
Thank you 🙏
I can only imagine how amazing it would be to explore and sleep out in those places. I would love to do so one day 😄
Nice one Mattzi . That last Nature emergency was really amazing and worth it and how nature turned up that breath taking music to compliment it was pretty amazing too
Looking forward to checking out the hut
edit oh yeah and the opening monolog gave me chills . I love how you can express how I feel thanks
Haha yeah it really knew what track to play for that moment to get the most bang 😂
It was bloody spectacular though. I really enjoyed putting this one together.
And thanks mate, I had so many things I wanted to write about I sort of just mooshed them into one 😅
I love your filmwork brother keep it up! I can't wait to packraft Australia!
Thanks Dylan!
Yeah mate, beautiful places here!
That whole thing was EPIC! But that intro monologue 👌
Not a bad place to chill out in 🥶😅
Thanks mate!
Epic content as always Mattsy! There's certainly a dense peace hiking out in the snow isn't there!
Thanks Sam! Yeah it’s definitely different that’s for sure. Nowhere near as many bird calls etc. Very still unless the wind is up.
Great video. Beautiful nature photography. But looks bloody cold up there!
Thank you Linda! And yes it was bloody cold 😂
That sunrise! Love all your videos. BTW those deer are a curse on the alpine area…
The silly cool guy! 20:07 😎 lol
Your tarp Configurations and shelter work improves and impresses each trip… your cooking though still has me edge of my seat wondering how it will end every time
Hahahaha 😂😂
Glad you were there to show us Nature Emergency #17
Hahaha! Could be my favourite comment 😂😂
I see Durston on my facebook feed every day. First time I've had someone mention it.
Another beautiful film mate. Those shots at the end were stunning. Also that was some good looking bacon being cooked and should keep all the doubters at bay 😄
Thanks mate 🙏
Hahaha! They always find a way to challenge me 🤣🤣
Great work mate! The dingoes up that way can give you trouble as a solo guy (had it myself😂). They’re used to eating those big samba dear. Scared the crap out of me😬
Thanks mate!
Yeah, I have heard they’re a little more daring for the solo traveler. Last time I was out that way I noticed a post amongst the trees and it turned out to be a game cam with a huge deer laid out in front of it. Seemed like they were trying to lure in a pack of lions by the size of it 😆
Thanks for watching 🙏
Yes mattsy!! Hope you weren’t too crook sounded pretty brutal. Beautiful footage man.
Thanks mate! I think it was a combo of exhaustion and not drinking quite enough water probably. Very easy to do in those conditions. I was cautious of it but i probably should’ve had more considering the output moving through that deep snow.
Thanks for watching brother 🙌
Little bush craft trip 😅 great adventure ❤
Hahaha 😂😂😂
Thanks mate!
YOUVE DONE IT AGAIN!💪 Epic intro and the morning brekky fire firewood music scene was great. Bugger about feeling crook, but now you got another excuse to get back and armbar that bloody pigeon....I mean Emu. EMU!
Loving these sunday mornin uploads too mate👍👍
Haha thanks man!
Yeah absolutely. I gotta see that thing again! Thanks for watching mate 🙌😄😄
Pure magic mate. Keep up the good work. 💯🤘❤️🍺
Thanks brother!
And now, another episode of "Mattsy Murders Bacon"! 😂 But seriously, nice work dude! Top notch opening monologue. And your cinematography seems to be getting better each time. Very cool mate.
Thanks a lot Benny! I appreciate you saying so. Something about snowy scenery that makes us all better photographers/filmers 😂😂
Great video mate but damn that looks cold lol. Stunning views though and woild be a great experience.
Haha you’re not wrong! It was a great experience though. I learned a lot and next winter trip should be even better 🤙
@TheSillySwagman I might brave it one of these days. A trip out sleeping in my car will be first though as I've never seen snow let alone camped in it.
Loved the intro ❤❤❤❤
Thank you! 🙏🙏
Beautiful country captured yet again! Have you tried ‘cowboy coffee’ - just a fine grind of your favourite roast that is brewed in the pot? Keep up the great work!
Thanks mate. I have! I haven’t done that for quite some time though, maybe you’ll see again in one of my videos soon 😆🙌
Nice saw, good idea.
Yeah it’s a great Saw. 👌
That was a great video!
Thanks Ben! I appreciate you watching mate
great video mate.
Thanks mate!
Awesome mate! What about that intro... so good!
Thanks Steve! 🙌🙌
I’m impressed, really liked the presentation, original, really Australian, thank you, just a suggestion…..get some snow shoes lol 😅, Luved it.
Don’t you know it mate 😂 The one time I thought I wouldn’t need them and there was a freakishly big dumping of snow. Won’t fool me twice! Thanks for watching mate
Holy shit what a start!! Great words
Thanks mate! 🙏
so good mattsy
Thank you! 🙌
great video mate 🤙
Cheers Ethan! 🙏
Fun vid beautiful, head to the top peak
Haha I shall do soon enough! Thanks for watching mate
Everyday I wish to escape the suburban monotony that I live in. It feels as if the world is trying to pull me in and tell me to stay, that if I trust it and get sucked into the lonely vacuum of the internet it will all be ok, but theres something inside telling me to run. I’ve found solace in the bush and at Mass, for right now it seems the world hasn’t been allowed to affect it too much. I pray for the day I can escape and go back to where we truly belong.
Had to get this out somewhere. Been on my mind for a bit. Have a great day and God bless :)
Love it 🙏
Sadly I think far too many of us feel very much the same way. Thanks for watching and for sharing mate 🙌
Bloody awesome mate! What's that song sung by female vocalist? Great song & great pick. Cheers Laurence
Here in WA. Jealous as hell for some snow country....born on the east coast (Bega) now living over here with the heat, flies, snakes and red dirt ....ick.
This is what I want, I want to experience snow. However, I am here in the Philippines. Hoping and praying that I can travel to a place like this.
I hope you can one day too brother! I really do 🙏
Outstanding
🙏🙏
Good to see you getting out and enjoying the snow. How did the Alton mat go? I did my first snow camp near Guthega last week and used my Alton insulated mat with a foam mat underneath and found it lost a fair bit of air pressure about halfway through the night and it's never done that before. Just interested to see your experience.
Oh really? Actually now that I think about it, I had a similar issue on the first night, I’ve found that if I blow up any air mattress too long before actually using it then by the time I hop onto it it’s already lost a little air because there’s no pressure to really seal it. I give it a little top up before bed and it stays completely full all night. My sea to summit one did the same.
Nice video bud!
Thanks mate!
Awesome, can I suggest snow shoes thoughmattsey 🤣
Don’t you start 😆😆
That sunrise is 100% worth a quiet "fuck me..."
It's so crazy that even in the middle of winter at a higher altitude, Australian 'alps' get so little snow that the treetops aren't covered at all. There's more snow on the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland in the middle of their summer than what you'll ever see on Australia's heaviest snow days...
To be fair, gums aren’t the best as holding snow, they were certainly iced over. But you’re right, a different part of the world that’s for sure.
at* holding snow.
There was a dozen eggs in a tube back in the 1970
Snow camping is fantastic, if I didn’t hate the cold I’d love to do it some time lol
Hahah! Well said and at least you’re honest 😂😂
😂😂😂you absolutely crack me up 😂
Haha! I’m glad I’m able to do that for you Donna! 😂😄😄
How's that Valhalla bivy go for breathability and condensation Mattsy? I've got a few Valhalla nightwalker sleeping bags and the way you can cinch it down in the cold to leave a tiny breathing hole is awesome 👌
Hey mate, truth be told (and you’ll see this in the next video) it is not great and condensation around the head area is off the charts haha! With a sleeping mat in there too you end up pretty much brushing the ceiling as well. It’s more of a military item though, so a luxury item such as an air mattress wouldn’t generally be taken into consideration during the design stage haha
I’m planning on making my own adjustments to it though as it’s still a great bivvy
@@TheSillySwagman Ah, bummer. It's a nice looking bit of kit! I went and got one of those Carinthia ones Scotty has and thus far it's impressive how little it condensed. Looking forward to the next one mate.
@@Jim-yk9zw You would expect that with the price tag, better materials and design you would hope 😆
To be fair the rest of the bag didn’t build up condensation, just over the face but it is a lot. Like it pools 😂
Cmon, need to warm that tortilla/flat bread first. Makes a lot of difference having a soft and warm wrap.
Hey mate what was the name of the tarp configuration you had set up on the first night, looks solid 👍
Hey mate, it’s called the ‘Tarp Tent’ configuration. I like this setup if I know there’s a good chance of rain & winds, and now snow 😆 Really easy to do.
also great if there’s no trees about too of course
Cheers mattsy 👍
That's a top looking fire.
How did the egg mix taste and would you use it again?
I really should’ve touched on that haha It was ok, didn’t have as much flavour as fresh eggs though. But not bad. 😅
Great episode. Didn’t look very warm. 😂😂
Does your Alton plate come clean again after cooking on the fire with it??
Not very warm at all Karen 😂😂
It doesn’t turn silver again if that’s what you mean 😅 but it does clean up. It won’t burn the next feed.
out of interest, do you reckon earplugs would help enough to drown out the winds at night, or nah?
Mate, I literally made a note in my phone titled ‘Get immediately’ and all it says is ‘earplugs’.
I think they would certainly help. Great question. 👌
@@TheSillySwagman haha yeh game changer I reckon. I started packing them after too many night shifts on the fireline, and trying to sleep in the daytime in the middle of a basecamp with snoring blokes all around. Never go bush without them.
