I bought AD700x(open back, poplar for gaming) and M50x at the same time for comparison end up I like M50x better for gaming, although AD700x have a better soundstage, M50x have much more details I can hear footstep and hint of enemy better with a sound card, M50x rock, BTW, I take them out too, I detach the cable, put it in my bag with my on-the-go cable, easy

For those who have the original ATH-M50 w/o the removable cable, you can do a really cheap mod to put a headphone jack in place of the cable. I did it and it's awesome. Just look up ATH M50 removable cable mod and you'll find a lot of guides.

Factory refurbished items are very lightly used. If you're worried about it, give them a quick wipe with rubbing alcohol. Mine look brand new, there isn't even the very slightest sign of wear, and I saved about 50% of the cost buying refurbished. They sound absolutely perfect too.
well if it makes you feel any better, I doubt that they would send you anything that had lice or bodily head fluids on it without thoroughly cleaning and wiping it down first.

I use my regular M50's for gaming for almost two years now and it's perfectly fine. The sound is decent and loud, the scene is also good and i can hear literally everything. But i don't play games like CS:GO and other, just saying. For single player experience - it's very good. And i also use them with my Sound Blaster X sound card. :)

These are studio monitor headphones and most people don't understand that. They are designed to sound as neutral as possible. Anyone complaining is an idiot who probably thinks headphones like Beats are accurate lol
These headphones are amazing and they work pretty well for me in terms of gaming but I should point out that in general, open back headphones are superior to closed. For example, Sentey Arches are a pretty nice option for a low cost and if you want to be bombarded with bass, there's an optional vibration subwoofer.
I've got the ATH-M40X headphones and they are amazing as well - I expect the M50Xs to be brilliant. My only criticism is that the padding can make my ears feel a little hot, but that's my only criticism - they are great. nizar garoot - they don't have a microphone, but like me, you could add the ModMic from AntLion to the AudioTechnicas. I've added a ModMic and it works very well :)
I use my m50s when I play bf4 on my ps4 and it's pretty amazing! All of the guns that I own and shoot in real life, sound almost the exact same in the game!

Diego Reyes there is actually some add on mics on the market by a company called Antlion and I actually just ordered these headphones with that mic bundled together. So technically any headset you have can be a gaming headset

Actually headphone "burn-in" is a popular myth. So, don't buy used headphones just so that they are "burnt-in". The only upsides to buying them used would be that the headphones will be more "broken-in". What I mean by that is they wont be as tight on your head as a new pair, but you can negate this by just placing the headphones over the box overnight(or longer) when you receive them. And the other reason is obviously the price would be better.

I have the m50x and really love them BUT i feel like it s not that good in case of surround sound (i m using razer surround for boosting that) and i also have a ath 2020 usb+ which is another great product but takes too much background noise (mostly pc wents and my blackwidow green switches) so... should i buy modmic 4.0 or take a look for some decent headset (under 115Euro) ? the bass is too powerful for fps games. but it's a very good all around headphone, for gaming, music, movies, it sounds better than most gaming headphone but had to buy a cheap soundblaster g3 to turn the lows down. Also the soundstage is not very wide out of the box, but the dac/amp fixes that.

Hi ! I need help out here . So... I have the m50x and really love them BUT i feel like it s not that good in case of surround sound (i m using razer surround for boosting that) and i also have a ath 2020 usb+ which is another great product but takes too much background noise (mostly pc wents and my blackwidow green switches) so... should i buy modmic 4.0 or take a look for some decent headset (under 115Euro) ? I need 2nd mic just for teamspeak with my teamm8 and surround MAINLY (but not only) for cs goo ( mm s and couple of tournaments (not LAN s yet) ) . So what would u recomend ? If headset which 1 ? OHHHH and most important - im using onboard (z97 gaming 5 ) sound card , for my at m50x im using the dac bulit in my mic. So i need usb headset (not sure if modmic will make decent sound on my onboard sound) Help guys PLZ :(
the bass is too powerful for fps games. but it's a very good all around headphone, for gaming, music, movies, it sounds better than most gaming headphone but had to buy a cheap soundblaster g3 to turn the lows down. Also the soundstage is not very wide out of the box, but the dac/amp fixes that.
