Hi Daniel, I`m half British half Brazilian and I live in London .. I`m a big nirvana fan I love your videos, I`ve been following you channel for quite a bit now. I do some videos on my channel as well, but I have only 10k followers and I do most video in Portuguese ... I had no clue hat Jack Endino had worked with Nando Reis and Titans.. That it is amazing!!! Jack Endino - Love that guy. First saw him on they Hype! (1996) documentary. He seems very consistent as a human. It's funny watching him 25 years after and seeing that he's seemingly the same cool and calm guy. Somehow this person gives you a sense of integrity and calmness. Can't really explain the feeling since i don't know him personally.
Very much agree with your take - he's exactly as you say. His interview on Hype was really earnest and you could tell how much he loves music, and that still shows the same in this interview.
Jack Endino takes me back to the years when the goal was truth, genuineness (basic concepts for Kurt&Co. and for us - I presume - Nirvana fans). Years in which appearance did NOT come before substance, in which sharing REALLY meant sharing and empathizing (and certainly not simply posting!) I'm REALLY sorry for those young people who, nowadays, look to the past, first of all to the 90's, as something REAL and PURE that they couldn't live (fortunately there's still this kind of boys&girls, not just superficial influencers' followers or stuff like that!!!) 'cause it was truly and extraordinary moment, very far from the sterile "fake world" where, willy-nilly, we all are forced to live today 😢 I really hope that, sooner or later, that mood will be recovered because I really miss it so much! (I don't think I'm the only one.....) So, thanks dude for this nice interview to a very nice person 🤘💜

I appreciate & respect the fact that at the end of the day, the music industry is a business. But generally speaking, the business end of the industry and the creative end used to have somewhat of a balance. Often times, there seems to be an imbalance today.
Well daid man. Yea, 100 percent authentic back then, integrity was a must, and raw emotion broke barriers. I wont say never will that return, but it doesnt seem like its going to be anytime soon. The way music is produced and thrown out there now is a huuuge reason why there is no authenticity or integrity left.
Extra fact: they wanted to include Blandest on Incesticide but they forgot that they recorded over the master. The reason it still exists today is because they had a copy made for the band during the initial session, so all existing recordings exist from the band’s personal cassettes.
Jack Endino deserves more credit than he already gets. He liked the demo so much that he gave it to Johnathan Poneman at Sub Pop, as well as sent it to a DJ at KAOS and a few other friends, simply because he knew it deserved to be noticed. His actions were directly responsible for Nirvana getting signed to Sub Pop and for them to get some of their first airplay on college radio.
He has such a great perspective on the music industry, as it was then and is now (funny, what he was saying about there being no more actual musicians is exactly what I was saying the other day to someone lol).. I never knew about the connection between South American dictatorships falling and their love of rock, but as soon as he said "Dictatorship", I was like "oh, the sounds of freedom" (which he actually said shortly after lol). The day Kurt came up to do the recording (1/23/88) is within a couple of days of the actual day I was born!! I've always talked about how all of my favorite bands started out the year I was born (Primus, Tool, Nirvana, as well as many of my favorite rappers).. but I never knew it was that ridiculously close lol..
Chad actually drummed on less tracks than you might think. A little less than half the album is Dale Crover. You can tell the difference because songs with double bass (School, Negative Creep, Big Cheese, etc) are Chad
Jack is incredibly talented. He works with people really well, and he quickly gets the performer past any inhibition with his calming professional manner. My two favorite producers are Jack Endino and Gordon Raphael. Ben Ireland Sky Cries Mary

Good interview. The topics you could have covered with Endino are endless, but I would have liked to hear about his remix/remaster of Ultramega OK by Soundgarden, which totally rehabilitated that record. It went from unlistenable to essential, and also seemed to bring his whole recording career full circle to where he began. If Soundgarden had recorded it with him originally, the late 80s could have been the 90s...
Seeing these interviews with these producers and really getting the inside scoop on Nirvana's recording sessions is great. Would be cool if you could interview Barret Jones and Scott Litt in the future.
It's crazy that having success, and "radio friendly" songs was looked at rather askance by the artists themselves. So strange. Isn't that the whole _point_ of becoming a successful band? Something I never really understood. That being said, when Jack talked about dictatorships falling and music being freed up again, I'm reminded of the videos of AIC performing in Brazil ages ago. MASSES of people, huge stadiums worth, in the rain, everyone dancing, moshing, and singing along to the words (IN ENGLISH), they were all so excited! Jerry even said that when they took a tour of the area the next day, they couldn't go anywhere and not run into someone who wasn't at the concert. Those are real fans! 😄👍
Good Old Jack Endino! He hasn’t changed one bit. He was one of early people who did a good job recording Nirvana and he says he was a fan from the beginning. He also mixed the songs on Incesticide which are excellent! I love that Album. Then Nirvana went to Butch Vig and they exploded! So they were lucky to find two independent producers who didn’t impose their style or sounds on them. Both Producers did an excellent job! Endino just seems like a great guy! He also recorded early Soundgarden! In light of everything that has happened, I wonder if there is a Curse on Grunge Rock Bands. First, Andrew Wood, then Mia Zapata who was in the Seattle scene then, Kurt Cobain, then Layne Staley and the latest was Chris Cornell. The only ones left are Mark Arm, Mark Lanegan and Eddie Vedder! I sure hope not.
Jack has recorded many times the brazilian band Titãs and has earned him many gold records starting in 93. Check out Titãs 1986 masterpiece “Cabeça Dinossauro” full album should be on youtube.

Loved Bleach from the very first listen back in the 90's... still love it now... Nevermind, apart from SLTS, at first sounded to me depressing, then it grew on me, then i got bored of it... only listen to Bleach, Incesticide and the B-Side / out-take stuff these days... lots of good stuff on the Outcesticide albums and the "With The Lights Out" box set.
