I just recently talked about our old sleeping patterns with my Psychology lecturer, and she said the change happened around industrialisation. Working hours changed, so there wasn't really time for the "midnight awakenings" anymore, and it just slowly phased out.
I do the half time sleep breaks, but not of my own accord. My eyes just open and scan the dark room. Pretty spooky actually. Never thought of just getting up while im at it.
The Endless is one of those movies you should just watch. The odd/weird stuff is good enough that you don't care that it's done on a small budget with unknown/soso actors. Not as good as something like Primer but good enough.
Well "dinner" used to be around 3pm with "supper" around 8pm. Lunch wasn't really a thing because you would work early, then breakfast around 10am. 2 meals was normal then around 1700's (I could be talking complete bollocks but at least at sea it holds up), the new timetable for meal eating to be "civilised" was normalised where you eat early, noonish and later and no longer have supper. Kind of how naps aren't normal anymore outside (now) bizzare shiftwork.
If you want a good restaurant to go to, try hai di lao hot pot (海底捞火锅）or din tai fung （鼎泰丰）Both have branches around the city！Or if you want a nice coffee shop then Akimbo Coffee near Jiangsu Road metro stop
