As your only tenkara fan, I’m glad you haven’t forgotten about me. A tenkara rod is the best rod for catching whitefish. And I definitely don’t double haul.
Can’t wait to see the next two episodes. Rubber boat patching is part of the game and the PBR is the perfect fishing brew. This gets me fired up for our Alaskan rivers to become fishable.
@@elisjournal4435 Alaska has some great fly fishing for sure. If you plan a trip some day make it a fly-in guided multi-day float for big rainbows, grayling and dolly varden. However don’t overlook the closer places like Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Arkansas, northern Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Have a great fishing summer.👍🏼
Was out yesterday on the Madison, raining , hail , snow and wind . Sitting by the fire this morning in my living room watching your video , so comforting. Another reason to have a good patch kit with you in the raft . Keep the videos coming and stay Hugh
Proud of you guys. I t would have been a hard decision to even launch at those flows. I've been on some trips that turned into straight survival floats on that river.
Just floated the “ Yellowstone “ this week. First day was tough but it got better as we went. We we’re all rookies and way overpacked, beer is heavy, it was the first voyage for my Water Master Bruin and it took it like a champ but I could see how that river is a raft eater. Kudos to the drift boat, probably heard him coming a mile away.
Dang, did anyone else watch this and think, “I’d be up a creek with a deflated boat if that happened to me?” A future video highlighting the patch and repair process would be valuable to me any anyone else rowing around in a boat they don’t know how to fix on the fly. Thanks for a sweet 1st vid of your trip Ben!
Can’t believe y’all got a drift boat down at those flows!!! Must have been a lot of work. 🤘 We must have been a day or so behind you on the river. Snowed a lot. Glad to know we had good company downstream in adverse conditions. Happy Boat’N 👍
Should have titled the video "Romancing the Stone". Hard to say you had bad luck when you guys caught so many fish. Felt bad for the boat accident, but to borrow from some famous guy I can't remember, "boats in the driveway are safe, but that's not why boats are made". Thanks for sharing and showing us how not to let a little mishap ruin a good time.
This so improved my commute. There was a quick comment about spilled beer and a scratched lens. It can be so bothersome to have that scratch right when you need to see, like all day. Gave up drinking, so at least I haven’t spilled one in seven years.
I got back from fly fishing for four days in Utah April 18. Four days of snow and below freezing temperatures. Oh, and high winds too. Needless to say fishing was tough!
Hey even the Huge metal Titanic got a small tear in its side. The big difference, you didn’t sink and fixed yours. I consider that...Christened without a champagne bottle. Name it the Unsinkable Molly Brown (might jinx it though 😂) Great trip and video! Thanks for sharing it Huge dude. Lookin forward to the next part. 👍🤙👌✌️🎣
Curious why the "Yellowstone" is better to name than a permitted river? I mean it's not like they are going to allow more people on this one anyways. Meanwhile the Yellowstone is overrun with boats all summer... also the guy with a drift boat is brave! I won't take anything but my packraft from now on under 200.
so, how much of getting hung up is the raft itself and how much is your build, which has more misc. stuff for comfort/flexibility, but adds weight (like the floor)? I've got an Outcast PAC 13... would I be floating over those rocks or Flinstoning it?
It takes a lot. Depends on how many people you got. On this river you can do up to 15 with as many watercraft on one permit. I've done it all from roughing it to bringing everything short of a lazy boy. If you plan your food well should be fine.
That's unreal Kelly Galloup showed up after you said "Brown trout" once. Normally, I have to say it at least 3 times with an 8 wt in my hand and a streamer in my hat.
Can you make a 2 / 3 day float trip in this river? Or do you need 6 days to get to an exit? - I have no floated a river in Patagonia for more than 2 days. I dont own a Yeti cooler and the ice to keep my beer cold only last two days in my Igloo cooler....
Breakfast brew! Do you think some of that flex seal tape would work as a temporary fix? Making a list of Ben's favorite things... tenkara, midges, South platte.
Ok...so watched this vid for the 50th time (not really) and it is the first time I notices you bouncing that Rainbow off the oar. Made me laugh out loud. I promise not to practice my releases that way. :) :)
So your saying "Huge Blue" is down for the Count? My she raise from her Deflation to be "Huge" again! Praying Hugely for her Recovery and God Speed, "Huge Blue"!
A good one is $6-$7k in that size. Upside is they are still going strong 10-20 years after Huge’s boat will at the bottom of a landfill. Edit...and that is just the price for the rubber....frames,oars,ect not included.
Nice I love fishing that is what I am all about noeone wants to watch me though I am just a kid 😂 but I have been working hard on it for a year If you have time I would actually like some suggestions!!!!
@@HugeFlyFisherman Yeah, he's definitely still got his glove on at 11:30 . At least he took the mitt off, but that fish is definitely in contact with a lot of the glove material on his palm.
Why is Jerms (if I may also call him that) using his teeth when he's landing fish? Serious question - not a criticism. Are his gloves too slippery to keep the fish from pulling line back out?
His Royal Hugeness gives a trout a concussion bouncing him off the oar, then said "sorry bro", hahaha. Classic.

Had a wonderful day caught fish saw only one other boat . That’s going to change in in a month , but until then it’s all ours :-)

Two words "tear aid" google sotars latest repair video its pretty in depth
Awesome trip. Thanks for sharing. Huge
Me, who fishes the Yellowstone routinely, watching this: "wait a minute..."
I don't fish it that much but I was thinking the same thing haha
You must be new here
Keep that actual river quiet!

Nice release on your first fish in the new boat! Lol. Love your channel . Keep em coming.

The only part of Monday mornings I enjoy ☕
HUGE fan of the teeth grab line strip. Outstanding.
I've definitely seen that hole at 8:15 before in your vids. You must fish the yellowstone a lot
Awesome video! Excited for the next parts
I’m thinking about making a drift boat video too at some point... keep up the great work!

Great video, Ben! I never knew the Yellowstone could be so beautiful east of Billings.
Man I bet that was rough jumping in and out of the boat! And that shirt is priceless!!
Right! 😂
This channel is going to get huge
I’m rooting for it. He’s an inspiration for my own videos. And he’s crushing it!
The double haul shirt is awesome

This looks so great except for the camping🤣Love cut-cheeks🎣
Lucky to get a permit, stay huge.
I also have floated the Yellowstone at 129 CFS. Best fishing trip of my life

What glue did you use for the raft patch repair?
So huge just rolls through town....next time stop for a few, Ben.
LOVE it! i bout the star outlaw 14'2. im up here in oregon and washington. salmon steelhead! id like to collab sometime in the future!
Great video. Lots of fun to watch. Thanks,
Bummer about the raft . A six day float sounds dope right about now .

Mostly to spite the guy was was giving me crap for calling another river the Yellowstone. It’s a thing now.
Went out today and came the closest Ive ever come to catching a salmon. There was a group of landlockeds and I got some follows on the prince and APT
121 CFS on the Yellowstone.... Gonna be a really low water year I suppose.

It’s all because of how I have it set up and how we had it loaded at the time.
How’d the drift boat do on that low flow?
Butter butter butter butter 🧈!! ❤️ stay huge
Would love to take a trip like that. What amount of planning does it take to make a trip like this happen?

How are your double oar turn skills? A few white water classes are really helpful for river running! It was a nice repair job!
And what would you have done if the tube inhaled some water? Pump it out before inflating? Looking forward to seeing the next parts.
I thinks I saw a hard boat give a huge mock on your red dragging raft. How deep your raft draft?? mock mock mock.
That’s a nice shirt you were wearing in the intro. Where did you get it? Lol
The other two parts coming out the next two mondays or we getting some mid week beer time with you?
wouldn't have happened if you kept that Hyside!!
Thanks for showing the good and the bad, helps us remember we’re all human! Stay Huge!! Tenkara Sucks!!!!
redington Vapen Black ??
Yellow Oreos = Tenkara Traditional Oreos = Hugeness
Ben, what kind of double nymph rig were you using? Looked like a Pat's rubber legs and an egg.
Yep
Come back! Hopper season? Let's get an army of boats out and do a meetup, I know Chaz has some CBD sponsors that might be interested in funding it.
"First trout of 2021!" (Drops it right on the oar) lmao that would be my luck too.
Where can I get that blue double haul shirt???

It took the whole video before the expected "Remember, Tenkara still sucks!" Cool.
Breakfast brew! Do you think some of that flex seal tape would work as a temporary fix? Making a list of Ben's favorite things... tenkara, midges, South platte.
Nope, only glue and hypalon or whatever material the boat is...
How do you like that Tornado Anchor?
Seven thumbs up.

Dumping that trout on the oar, literal lol
Love the shirt... bro 😁
Dang it. I want to hit the river and fish not hit the time clock at work and pretend I'm working when I'm really watching fly fishing vids.
So your saying "Huge Blue" is down for the Count?
My she raise from her Deflation to be "Huge" again!
Praying Hugely for her Recovery and God Speed, "Huge Blue"!
I used to fish with huge flies but they were too big for the salmon I was fishing for.
“Kenkara still sucks”. LOL
are vanilla Oreos the way to go
Had to pause three times during the vid...restocking beer...
Imma need that shirt.

Those Oreos are whiter than the whitefish
My only issue with his channel is his subs he should have a minimum of 1 mil
Imma keep watching but not for long if y’all don’t start eating those Oreos
