Have you thought about painting your own icons with acrylic paint as the medium? It would make a great medium if you intend to make an icon to pass down through the generations because acrylic paint takes an estimated 400 years to fade on direct sunlight or fluorescent light and if kept out of direct sunlight it basically almost never fades.

As a Catholic I have to ask my Orthodox brethren, why would you use the protestant bible edited by Shakespeare for a heretic prince? It was vandalised of many books and is a poor translation even if it sounds beautiful. I might quote it as I grew up in a protestant country where that is what we hear but to study the bible with that version? Only if there was not a good Catholic or Orthodox translation because I know where that came from, I do not know King James.

I think it's just once a bunch of people are pretty sure he's a saint, he is. Then Priests'll mention him, and their bishops, and then their Patriarch. If your dude is probably a saint, ask people about it. Pray on it. Maybe he'll be like Saint Nicholas and pop in, let you see your right. If not, no biggie. Typically a Synod meeting will be called to investigate, and as long as he didn't steal from the cookie jar while he was little and was good, he'll be canonised. Before Canonization, they are in the "Glorified phase", ie some think he's a Saint, including some priests etc, but the Synod hasn't made a decision.

@@FirstNameLastName-is6yb just to be clear, I'm Catholic. I'm simply curious to know the difference between the canonization processes between our two Churches.
I agree that heroism doesn't make a saint. I also admire a group of female aviators known as the Night Witches, but as they were Soviets, well, I'll be pleasantly surprised to meet them in heaven.
Heroic acts don't make saints. Christ does. Coupled with saving faith, heroic acts may point to the action of sanctifying grace in one's soul.

Bible Illustrated Hands I would love an icon of St John Chrysostom. Where can I get her information?

I want to make my own Icon corner. But i do not know where to buy Icons. Specially icons of my patron saint; St. Bishu (even as my patron saint, every other person spells it differently). Could you shed some light Bojan?

    Hey Bojan
I don't necessarily have an icon corner because my entire room is full of icons 😅 but I really admire your icon corner and I hope one day to send you a traditional Coptic Icon 😃

It’s hard to explain to non-Orthodox our connection to Saints. Or ‘how’ that happens. Harder to explain we rarely choose a Saint. That instead they tend to choose us and the way they do this is infinite.

Who can you buy icons from? I saw a guy who painted icons at a Christmas market but didn't buy his icons because they weren't blessed and I only buy them from churches or monasteries. But now I hear you talking about an iconographer - would they have been okay to buy?
