it is very easy to do; download , resize and print ikon image; glue it on the piece of wood ( I used plywood 10mm thick ) - use glue wood. seal it with Mod Podge with brush ( do not use any spray varnish ) , using a brush you will get hand painted final efect. Paint all adges with brown actylic paint. With a finger apply GOLD WAX you can buy on eBay After drying apply VINTAGE ANTIQUING PAST ( it will make it antique look ) You can watch my other tutorials, all Icons I am making the same way Check this video ua-cam.com/video/0XUuYbKWLVA/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/D_hdf4wYOe0/v-deo.html
Can I get the gold wax and everything else from a craft store? Thinking about doing that today or next weekend. Want to make my grandmother a Theotokos for Christmas.
Thank you for your nice comment ! Glad you like my work ! To avoid " bleeding " the ink , first apply 3 -4 very thin layers of Mod Podge ( dry brush technique ) ... leave it do dry for about 4 min between layers , final layer aply more Pod Podge and just leave it dry ua-cam.com/video/xfuxi5k1j_Y/v-deo.html
any paint must be totally dry .... I speed the drying with hairdryer . I am sealing printed pictures only with Mod Podge , it dry quickly .... the glue must be touch dry before applying another layer. How I am sealing printed pictures with Mod Podge you can watch on my tutorial ua-cam.com/video/xfuxi5k1j_Y/v-deo.html
Heyy, I've been doing these for some time now, but i noticed that something is missing on them in my opinion, and that is gilding. Do you know how i could do it? Perhaps could you make a video on it? Pretty please 🙏😂. Thank you and God bless!!
Yes! I did this on mine. It makes the gold really pop! it also gives the paint a vibrant high gloss finish. I did a coat of Mod Podge over the paper before painting. Then id did 2 more coats over the front and sides after paint and wax.
Please keep your intentions pure during this activity. "Lord, Jesus Christ, son of God. Have mercy on me, a sinner." is what is often prayed.
Thank you for this video. Our Orthodox Saints are truly special. God bless you.

I find that I need to seal the picture on the paper with several coats of a spray sealer so that the colors don't run when gluing it on the wood.

Hello, where did u get the golden wax from?
Amazon UK
You can print icons?
Yes
What size is the print and plywood please?
9.5 cm x 13.5 cm . 1cm plywood thick
Curious if you would add more Mod Podge to secure the wax?
Yes! I did this on mine. It makes the gold really pop! it also gives the paint a vibrant high gloss finish. I did a coat of Mod Podge over the paper before painting. Then id did 2 more coats over the front and sides after paint and wax.
Where do you download the pictures from?
hello , search on Google for " orthodox icons "
Is it a normal A4 paper you are using?
Yes, simple paper 🙂
Hi, in my country not exist mod podge ( i has to matter ) i will use Multcolage Cola Gel Decoupage Acrilex the only one I found equivalent
Works? I can’t find Mod Podge either.
I believe it's just watered down glue that will dry clear
Any glue that will dry clear will work
To make it a real Icon bring it to a Orthodox church to be blessed
Does it have to be blessed? I venerate a printed painting of Jesus my mormon mom has. There's no church near where i live
It doesnt have to be. Most people just prefer it. Its still an icon either way.
