I’m using a Polygon Xtrada 7-29”; changed the tires to Maxxis Ikon 29” and the riser Handlebars to flats Handlebars for MTB Jamboree races. Nothing fancy but it does the job. Using the Deore 1X12 as well. Affordable set up. 👍
the bike seems great and you can only special it to personal requirements so I think everyone else would be different, anyway i wanna watch this 24hr race you did and have done for the past week,
Did see in the race video some of the experienced riders were running a rear mudguard, and seeing the footage from later in the race I can see why! Any reason for not running one? Would you use one if you did it again?
Love all the carbon gortex gps xtr 5000LM……… but there is such a thing called the ‘plastic rear mudguard’ it’s amazing at keeping your gear clean and stops your bum slipping and sliding around giving a much more pleasant riding experience my man.
I personally would have put a rear mud guard on. Something like the mudhugger. There not very heavy and like the front keeps most if the mud off you. Would have kept your ass a little bit more comfy
Well done Rich I think that a rear Mudhugger Mud guard would be essential. Made from old plastic bottles .They Look a bit Shit but stop you getting covered in mud /shit .
The bicycle is ok. I would choose the same BUT with lexx battery power things, for example the seat post I would choose a Bike Yoke Divine SL or other operated by cable, because it is something you don´t have to worry. The Garmin battery life is amazing, I have the 1030+ and I love it. The weather was awfull. I use to carry a small bottle with fox oil for suspension and chain etc
Pro-tip regarding bottles: Just get a proper hiking bottle that will keep fluid warm for hours. They are lightweight and far superior to those camelback abominations.
I haven't watched the race video yet (I will) just wondering if GMBN will post videos on GCN+ so we don't have to suffer with the bullshit annoying ads. Anyone else wonder just how much these companies spend on annoying us with ads??? I'll bet that money could be better spent on paying their employees better, maybe that's just me.
If I was doing the race I'd have to have cheap ebay cree lights with multiple separate battery packs for quick changes . I normally use Exposure lights but they are pricey and you'd need a few for 17hrs of darkness !!
What do you think about Rich's bike? Would you change anything? Let us know 👇
Rich great bike and set up,thanks again for sharing with us and what a brutal ride, well done.
Thanks for the support, Raphael! We couldn't be prouder of Rich! He smashed it out of the park!
I really enjoyed this bike check and the race video on GMBN... Great job Rich, that was miserable looking from my warm couch.
Congrats, great performance Rich!
Rich smashed it! We couldn't be prouder of him!
The more crazy the better lol. Thank you for going over your setup. Gives me a lot to think about
Glad to help! Thanks for watching!

Great set up and well planned race strategy 👏..
Thanks was a solid team effort all round for this one

Glad to hear it, Joe! Thanks for watching! Safe riding! 👍
Great video 😃 I'm not normally a big fan of the color red, but on this bike it's really beautiful 😃😃 a Super Nice Bike
Thanks, Anita! Yeah, we love the red! It's such a nice detail!
I like the Dainese jackets and the Castelli Winter gear really played a key role in the challenge.
I would have put longer extended mudguards on, front and rear.

anyway i wanna watch this 24hr race you did and have done for the past week,
Great update and overview. If I may ask, what size is this Oiz?
Thanks mate, it’s a size large and I’m 6foot exactly
@@richardpayne5176 Thanks!
Congrats! Nice setup!
Weight on the complete setup, with a full bottle and all?
@GMBN Tech. Question 2-pot, 4-pot brakes. Do you need pot specific levers? Also, what's a pot?
Did see in the race video some of the experienced riders were running a rear mudguard, and seeing the footage from later in the race I can see why! Any reason for not running one? Would you use one if you did it again?
Why not choosing Di2? Is that down to reliability consideration in the race?
Squidlock, and axs dropper lever can't they fit next to each other?
Good day Rich, it was asked down below and I am also curious: Bike weight with everything on it plus full water bottle?
Ah sadly I don’t know but I bet with lights, tools, bottle(full) etc it’s around the 27lb/12kg mark
I think that's a beautiful bike. I notice you take good care of it. Don't blame ya.
Thanks! Rich has done some good miles on this thing!
Rich should race the Titan Desert next.
First and second place both had full mudguards front and back didn’t they?

I wonder how a XTR Cassette would have faired rather than the SLX?
What is cinterd brakes is it organic and steel mixed?
What bibs were you wearing?

Can you do a video on the SRAM blip button mod?
Thanks for the suggestion, David!
🔥bike
Nice rig Rich. Those pedals are circa £800 ouch!

Single parent ,kid in college, broke life for me..2 more years and i can get a new bike..my 2018 strive has been awesome..definitely would buy another
Send what you can afford! Not in yours dreams
Why buy another? Keeping up with the Jones'?
2018 strive is still an awesome bike
That's already a sick bike. Anything modern FS is super nice. Lots of people can't afford anything more than hardtails.
😇😍😇
Well, at least you had slx casette instead of expensive crap of a xtr XD
A helmet with a visit might have been useful in the rain.
Dream bike. I’m 16 years old
It certainly is! The Orbea Oiz is insane!

0°F or 0°C?
0°C 👍
