traveling sister now your real Tanzanian woman, vizuri sana
It's dried freshwater Anchovies
Awesome! Enjoyed watching Freddie cook. Great job!
Ugali is common all over Africa, not just central Africa. It is a staple food in Southern African countries. Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe etc. in South Africa we call it pap.
"Sadza" in Zimbabwe
"Ugali" (aka Nguna 😀) in Tz
"Fufu" in West Africa
"Mealie Meal" in the rest of the World
We cook different though..and we have different types of UGALI NOT ONLY WITH MAIZE
In Uganda we call it Posho
Yummy!! I love Tz be going their in a few weeks 👍🤔 Definitely will be trying Ugali daaga have heard so much about it 👍 Though Ugali itself it's a common dish in Kenya 🇰🇪🇰🇪👍
The sardines are called kapenta, in Zambia. We also eat it with ugali - Nsima.
Same in Zimbabwe, fished from Lake Kariba we share with Zambia
its common in Ghana too fished in the volta lake
Lovely...I enjoy the togetherness. When men cook the food tastes extra nice😁
You ain't never lied, very underrated post! 👍
Damn I miss Ugali na Dagaa best balanced meal ever 🙌🏾🙌🏾
My trainer made ugali and samaki for me. Really good. The eating with your hands is so natural to me. I learned from my granny that food taste better off the fingers. I know those collard greens, okra and cornbread sure tasted good off of hers.😁
I’m growing to like ugali! It’s something that I had to get used to. And it really does taste better with the hands.
I love the 🎶 🎵 music. Beautiful family!
OMG! 🙆🏻♀️ I miss home
😋😋 Yummy
That looks soooo good.Thank you for posting.
Oh man! This made me miss home sooo much. It looks so delicious 🤤
I love it,napenda ugali na dagaaa

OMG.... I had to replay your daughter fist bumping during the meal. That was so cute and funny. Food looks delicious!! I so want to pack up and head to TZ despite the changes.
Yes she love to fist bump lol and yes it’s definitely worth a visit even if you don’t relocate. It’s an amazing country.
I visited last year so this would be a relocation.

Go ahead Freddy! Throwing it down in the kitchen 😂😂
I swear ugali is my favorite
my family must have ugali dagaa once a week here in Seattle Washington. my daughter's favourite Tanzania food. I guess cuz I craved it daily while pregnant with her. we prefer our dagaa to add whole okra and coconut mchicha on the side.
We call it posho in Uganda. Some people call it ugali too. 😋
Yummy 😊
😋
I know where I am coming when I get there.
Looks very delicious
😋 That looks delicious! 👍🏽
Your daughter is so cute.
Didn't know that east Africans has any swallow related food like west Africans.
@@echetabuemeka4087 yeah,we have so many in common with you guys
✨🐟✨Hey Sis...love traditional cooking videos. I’m curious why the dagaa & ugali was cooked on a butane burner & everything else was cooked on the stovetop??? I also love communal dining with close family. Great video & the food looked awesome. Hugs & much love.✨🐟✨
I'm not a cook, at least not a good one, but ugali needs more heat thus the gas is therefore more suitable than the electric stove. So does then frying of the spices. Green vegetables are rather less demanding in terms of hotness. Plus in TZ electricity is very costly, very few people opt for it when it comes to cooking.
We are told that come June next year we will be enjoying affordable rates of electricity bills, thanks to an ambitious hydro electric power plant planned by our late Magufuli
@@victorwiketye2461 thank you for explaining that. It makes sense now...🙏🏾 Blessings.
It looks amazing!!
Home sweet Home 🤤🤤🤤
Mmmmm Good!!!😊👍🏿
Yummy!
That looks amazing and so fresh and healthy. I'd eat the whole lot 😂
Yum yum!😋
#swahili Nation
Those are not sardines but similar species of smaller fish found in fresh water area such as lake Tanganyika.
Baba’s favorite!
Kaka viungo vingi jaman, hadi mlonge heh? 🤗 Nice job chakula kimetoka vizuri!
The way u squeezed fufu in your hand as a truly african woman. Nice to see !
Did you guys eat Ugali when you were in South Africa? And did it taste different?
I didn’t and wish I did. I was pregnant when we went so my sense of taste / cravings was all over the place.
@@travelingsista oh sorry . And we have a variety of crazy foods , that the baby would have enjoyed . But you did say maybe if you have time you will visit again.
You marriage proposal made me laugh , and left me wondering 😂. He said you were serious about the ring . I hope you did not turn American on him , because I know my pole pole people . 😂
Dagaa are not sardines...they are a kind of fish known as silver cyprinid indeginous to lake Victoria
its called anchovies
@@shinyvalley5145 they are not anchovies dear. They are a completely different species of fish exclusive to lake Victoria. It's silver cyprinid
@@albertaatieno thanks i think its in the family of anchovies but this seems unique to lake victoria thanks. omena my best food when living in in Kenya, it was slightly diff from whats in west africa but same taste. In Ghana we have it too, locally called keta school boys and i can eat it all day
It's silver fish, not sardines. Favorite "low income" food around lake Victoria shores in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya 😊. In Uganda, silver fish is eaten with matooke (green bananas/plantain) as ugali is not as popular like in Kenya or Tanzania.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 yaaani nimecheka kwa nguvu , jamaa unavyotoa kitu cha ugali , naona Shemeji kashakuwa mbongo, nawasalimu nikitokea Calgary Alberta Canada
Your daughter is so cute
🤤
First one to watch
🍲 ❤️
Dagaa is more like "fry" than sardines. Bon appetit family!
In Tanzania they don't call it Omena like in Kenya? Interesting. This food used to be common with tribes from the lake area only Luo, Luyha etc but now everybody eats omena.
Mzee umetoa kitu nguna dagaa
Learned something...I never knew it was sardines.
Dagaa is anchovies to be precise because sardines are slightly larger.
Pilipili mbuzi iko wapi?
A good question 😂
What type of greens are those?
Spinach
@@viousa not really 🙂 I believe it to be Chinese(that’s how we call it) but we’ve spinach too
He said hivi dagaa kwa kingereza zina hitwaje? Same I be struggling 😂😂😂 in America every day trying to figure out Swahili dishes in English
😧😦🙊Was daddy sitting on the scooter..really??? but such a nice meal though.
Maaane,I’m home sick now…shit 😩
Anchovies maybe no t sardines
What does Ugali Dagaa mean
Ugali is stiff corn porridge, Dagaa is sardines.
Yep! What she said ☝🏾
I read that as dagga 😂
Lollll Mo 🤣
😂😂😂
Fred Acha Kukomba Mboga
Looks yummy, but you guys forgot to wash your hands.
No... we didn’t. And yes it was delicious
