Why does the U.S. presidential election system say that the candidate who wins a majority of the electoral votes in each state will win? In particular, if the candidate who wins Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin wins the presidential election, it would be enough to concentrate on these three states and leave the rest of the country out of it.
If that is the case, why not simply compete on the basis of the number of votes received throughout the U.S.?

I really don't think there is time for that now. I have strong reservations about her time as a prosecutor, but the election is in a little less than four months. Setting up new primary races, in all 50 states and U.S. territories would take months. At this point, there really isn't another option, in my opinion. I also hate always having to vote for which candidate I dislike the least. The thing in we are in a country where both sides of the political aisle are beholden to the billionaires, who fund their political lives and grant them favors that will last beyond their time in office. In this case, the other choice, #45, is a convicted criminal who instigated insurrection, sexually assaulted women and minors, cheated all all 3 of his wives, and built his financial empire on grifts. He viciously mocks war veterans, women, the disabled, various races, and anyone who even slightly does not get into lock step with his every command. He managed to make his misogynistic, homophobic, religious bigoted VP seem, in contrast, a man with the ability to, in the face if a mob that very much aimed to lynch him, be the rational, principled, adult voice in a GOP that wanted him to agree to over throw the election. #45 is a very real and present danger to trans men and women and pregnant women, especially, but he really is a danger to us all. It does not matter how I feel about Mrs. Harris. At this point, I would walk over broken glass to vote for her and against #45, or as I like to call it Cult 45 Malt Liquor: If Unhinged Is What You Seek.
