The most clever question Jarecki asked was, "Which one did you NOT write?" Exraordinary.
That was superb question really
A brilliant moment for all watching after all the trepidation about how to present the letter. That the team came up with that strategy blew my mind! It was a stunner! And did Jarecki plan for the mic to remain on in the bathroom or was it just luck? Durst's idiosyncracy of talking to himself finally undid him! The whole series was a brilliant study of a narcissistic psychopathic personality. Thank you, Jarecki!

That ending was the best ending to a documentary I have ever seen. Unbelievably compelling.

Filmmakers like Andrew Jarecki serve society in so many ways. This is one outstanding example. I read a book about Durst many years ago that made a very strong case for his guilt in all three murders and wondered if he would ever be brought to justice. I was happy to hear that he had been found guilty.
His lawyers all treat him like a long lost brother. The power of money I guess.
Just when you think Bob’s looking pretty bad they throw up another pic of him looking even worse.
That picture of him in the back of the cop car with that creepy ass smile and those beady black eyes.. That man looks evil.

There was this moment in an earlier episode where Jarecki says to Bob Durst that police had placed him in California at the time of the murder. And Bob Durst responds with "California is a big state" and then he makes this kind of evil smile like "I got away with it" kind of smile. It was chilling. That's what removed any question in my mind, even before the last episode. The last episode was just crossing the t's.

I've seen a shit ton of true crime documentaries with every kind of weird shit going on but this one is by far the most bizarre and yet satisfying of'em all....that ending? Bone-chilling

And the other is Chris's Watts. First case where the interview was available almost right away. It's truly the most horrific case that's recent and with fantastic coverage. There is even a two part video on yiu tube of him being interviewed again by the detectives that put him in jail.
Don’t forget West Memphis 3 - devil worship, really? This 3 parter goes on for years as well.
He gets life in prison. He is 78, has cancer and now covid. How long of his life sentence will he serve? He got away with murder.

Whenever people say that true crime documentaries are sick entertainment mediums that just exploit victims … there are instances like this that make it all worth it.
I felt bad that the other woman was killed but I mean she helped cover up the wife's murder so I don't feel bad

I think that if an inmate has money like him his estate should cover the cost of his incarceration. I mean if you go into a nursing home Medicaid takes your property , this is basically a nursing home with BARS

Im from League city, 23 miles south of Galveston Tx. When i was 18, in the year 2001, I became friends with a lifeguard . We were together when that one day , body parts were being pulled from the water . Ill never forget seeing a leg cut over the knee. This was right after 9/11 and it kinda got buried under the headlines. Ricky, my lifeguard friend, had good sense and had taken a picture of it with a camera. Few years back, he had come across the photo, snapped a pic with his cell camera and sent it to me. It was then, I wanted to explore the story of Robert Durst and watch the jinx.
Too bad we never got to see Durst reaction. Also with all his money the state has to pay all his expenses.
So, there are parts of the story that has not been in the documentary or is widely known, so there is a part when Robert says that he wants to "Igor" his younger brother. Well many years ago Robert had 7 dogs, all the same breed and he name them all Igor and they mysteriously disappeared. His brother Douglas claims that Robert killed those dogs, as he was practicing how to dismember a body. There are more parts of the story, you can fact check this.
Well, he went back to the house he lived in with Kathleen. After each crime basically....And yet noone really did an extensive search of that property house and the land surrounding it . All bodies of water since that is his thing. If a person has a stomach to dismember a human body lie he confessed to doing then obviously he has the guts to kill a human body before cutting one up.. what the hell is wrong with people back then . I'm glad he is getting behind bars .
I can not not like or sympathize with this dude. It’s a weird feeling knowing what he has done. That might just be the spell that everyone falls under and if so I 100 % get how he can «fool» them. I mean Susan never stopped hanging out with him, even though it was obvious he did something to Kathy and killed Morris, he’s so good at establishing trust and he’s honest to just the right degree but without telling you everything. why did his lawyers let him answer that question that started with "If..."?
Because if he got off the money stops. Now they get to appeal and drag out the attorney fees until his death. They had absolutely no motivation to seek a not guilty verdict. In a case like this, with a clearly guilty creep like him, tbh I'm fine with that good for them. Get that money.

I agree with how the prosecution presented the case and by and large do agree with their timeline and version of events. One thing that no one, either in the courtroom or media have said that I believe is true, is that I believe Berman was kind of lightly blackmailing Durst ever since the mid to late 80’s for money since her writing career never really took off and she couldn’t let go of the high life so she blackmailed her old best friend for money that Durst was I’m sure more than happy to abide by at the beginning, but as time went on and years went by I get the feeling Berman’s requests for money became more like demands and/or veiled threats of bringing up his ex wife.
I think by the time 2000 came around, Durst, though obviously still having enough money, was tired of Berman always blowing him up for cash, and even though LE has said there was no active reopening into the disappearance of McCormack in 2000, there were whispers of it, and it’s been confirmed that Berman never had contact with anyone in LE about anyone wanting to speak with her about McCormack so her telling Durst that was an obvious lie to get him to feel scared and hopefully to keep some money flowing to her. But the prosecutors were ultimately right when they said “she sealed her own fate” by calling Durst and saying police were contacting her about his ex wife. He flew out to LA, and the rest is history. I don’t blame Berman, may she Rest In Peace absolutely, but had she been able to sever ties with Durst financially years prior, she would’ve never found herself face down in a pool of her own blood.
I don’t know, just my personal take on it, I’m from the Galveston area, the place where Durst was hiding out, chopped up his neighbor and threw him into the Bay out here, and only was acquitted because our D.A. down here is about as useless as tits on a bull. Glad Durst is getting his justice, just too bad it’s in California instead of here in Texas.

I don't think the prosecution proved their case. Berman is a lot more complicated case than one might imagine.

Two clear statements made by Durst, himself, cinched it. I have my view of it all... Even with those statements, I didn’t think it would result in a conviction.
This was not justice...a murderer got to live a full life....reminds me of another rich man who got off and got to live a full life...smh
So all u had to do is fix a mic on him unless he defended himself saying some one immitated his voice and recorded it ...throw some of his childhood photos and keep a straight face while lieing just to be sure .

Its not clear to me what he said, "mumble mumble mumble killed them all, of course." Supposedly he said, "What the hell did I do, killed them all of course" But, overall evidence seems strong.

@@bevanbuckwheatshea5520 Bottom line, The prosecution did not prove their case, conviction or not. He could be guilty, it does not mean that the prosecutor proved his case, beyond a reasonable doubt. The defense will appeal, undoubtedly!

I'm ashamed for our legal system that Dust got convicted beyond a reasonable for murder. They based it on the statements made for purpose of the movie. I'm not defending Dust as a person because he could have been a horrible person.
Nah he was convicted because he was in the room where the shooting happened within 8 hours of it happening. From 3000 miles away randomly dropping in at that exact moment, not the day before or after, or any other 365 days of the year. What do you suppose are the odds of that being just a coincidence? Remember the killer had to be one of her close friends because she was hanging out and didn’t see it coming (not an intruder).
