Recovery Girl's words from two episodes prior echo throughout this episode; without a goal, you aren't going to get far in this world. Shigaraki set himself a tangible goal other than simply spreading chaos, and now he became even more dangerous than before.
I like how shigaraki was just sort of dazed walking into the mall, then saw deku, probably thought "i mean I should do something here right?" Took him as hostage and forced him to be his therapist for a little bit bc that's mostly where his headspace was at
It mirrors his behaviour and growth in a way. He left his responsibilities at the league of villains because he didn't want to deal with them and starts wandering aimlessly around but then he found something that drew his focus. In turn due to that he was able to find a goal to aim towards.
note : I'm pretty sure this detail was jumped/ignored in the anime, but in the manga , it was shown that some civilians in the mall did actually notice what was going on with deku and shigi , yet did nothing and just passed . now what's crazy that we don't understand why this is an important thing to point out until 4 SEASONS LATER . everyone always talks about oda, but horikoshi also does a pretty good job at foreshadowing
@@yob757SPOILER A key part of Shigaraki’s origin is when he’s alone on the streets as a child and no one came to help him except all for one. At least, I think that’s what this comment is referencing

This episode is when I really started to enjoy Shiggy as a villain. Although this episode didn't reveal much, I could sense there was a past that influenced the way he is, and that he did have an ideology, even though twisted.
The days of low stakes are mostly behind us at this point. Shigaeaki is now even more of a threat than he already was. Before, he was like a child rage quitting a game. Now, he's engaged in this battle of good & evil much more seriously.
I love how they set up his character arc. It feels believable, compelling, and truly horrifying. He truly grows from a man child throwing a temper tantrum, to a true monster with a goal: to see everything turn to ash.
This isn't just the story of how Deku becomes the greatest hero, because we see Shigaraki learn and grow as a villain as well. Back during Season 1, he would've never thought to ask someone for advice, but after being beaten, he realized he'd need allies and have to listen to other people. Him and Deku mirror each other. They were both being taught ways to grow in this arc. I love it. Tomura just walking up to Deku and chatting with him in broad daylight is one of my favorite moments in the series. Spoilers for S5 But also really sad because being ignored by people in broad daylight is what pushed Tenko into AFO's hands
The split panel screen at 21:40 always gives me chills, their contrasting faces are just too good I wanted to say this back in the stain eps but I don't think I did, his voice actor for stain (Robert McCollum) did such a phenomenal job with his part that every time we get a flashback I'm always floored by his voice. One of my favorite lines of his is literally when he screams "COME ON" because it's so terrifying lol.
what a lot of people do not realise is that people's quirks can affect their personalities like Bakugo having an explosive personality with an explosion quirk, shigiraki wanting to destroy everything with an explosion quirk ururaka being bubbly and floaty with zero gravity quirk, which gets explored a lot more later but toga is a massive example of this shes not just crazy and kills for no reason her quirk has greatly influenced the way she acts
Honestly the mall scene is terrifying, the closest comparison I have is a mass shooter, Shigaraki is ready to just murder everyone there if he doesn't get what he wants, it's not often this show goes that dark, luckily nothing happens, but still.
About how people take Stain's philosphy in vastly different maner, it isnt new as Montana pointed out. Last episode we saw the exact same thing applied to All Might, Deku and Bakugo. Both kids see All Might as the number one hero but for different reasons and yet they strive to reach the same goal. From now on the parallels between heroes and villains became more and more aparent.
Funny thing about that 'hunting a lion' metaphor. No sane person kills a lion for food. Their meat is unfit for consumption. However, if you brought up the lion bit because of a certain dentist some years back... He fed many Zimbabweans by BUYING THE RIGHT TO HUNT IT FROM THEIR GOVERNMENT. Yeah. Safari/Trophy hunting isn't just for bragging rights. Those parts of the world sell that experience for survival.
As far as butler vibes. I think he was basically a butler/servant of afo whos current task is to assist the young master and give regular progress reports on how hes doing eith the task set to him
This is still my favorite episode of the anime so far, and there are some great episodes. It's tense without needing action. The conversation and the public setting are more than enough to get any viewer on the edge of their seat.
6:12 Why not? Heroes do it. They all want the same thing, all inspired by one man, all interpreted differently. To win, to be the best, to save people, to earn money, to spite your father.... to get girls... All different motivations for the same goal.
I want to see a video where you introduce us to all of your pets. I feel like every other video there’s a new one and I’m like “WHERE DID THIS CUTIE COME FROM”
Ah I love this episode. It had some effect on me.... first of which being a lot of happiness seeing that we would get proper villain development. I realised that we were gonna have parallels for the rest of the series. Second effect brought in my horrible simping for crusty boy. I'm sorry the less evil of the smiles were ADORABLE and I'm there for his journey because heck.... he's not wrong. Neither was Stain. Without spoilers I relate a bit too much to the villains since I'm neurodiverse and you'd be surprised how demanding and harsh society can be for those that don't 'fit in'. Doesn't mean going around throwing tantrums and destroying stuff is the answer, but maybe it's the shakeup the hero society needs.
We made it to the finale of season 2! We meet a few new villains, Toga and Dabi are “inspired” by Stain. (Not quite sure that’s accurate for Toga. It’s more like she wants to literally wear Stain than follow his footsteps.) I love how Shigaraki has them both dead to rights but doesn’t have the self reflection to understand how much they already have in common. Not that you expect these people to be the empathetic types, it’s not like they completely lack the ability. Shigaraki is a lot of things but he’s no manipulator. (Still remember that poor sap who said “I’ve never seen All-Might before…let’s get him now’s our chance!” And tries to go for the 10 foot muscle giant) Aizawa and his rational deceptions. Gotta love it. And love how when Deku went to comfort the kids who failed, Kaminari called out Deku and said “Last I checked you had my situation but you got lucky enough to escape.” So chances are that Kaminari recognized later he stood no chance against Nezu. While Bakugo and Deku were just panicking as All-Might rearranged their innards throughout the test. Another clue that those two tests really were not meant to be passed at all if Kaminari can recognize how hard they had it. And of course Iida is just offended because “Lying is IMMORAL” and Aizawa just says “I’ll think about it.” But yeah this whole scene is the entire reason I covered the final exams the way I did. It answered every last gap we weren’t sure of. Pros are just too high tier for the kids to get close to as rookies and UA teachers are all among the strongest heroes there are. So they just made mouse traps for the kids to get through. I would say this is the 1st episode that class 1-A really starts operating as a whole family unit though. So far, it seems he might have some sort of immortality quirk? It would also work thematically. The quirk that lives on vs the person that cant die. Maybe, just like how all might has a time limit he can use his quirked up form for, all for one has a limit on how many quirks he can take/be in possession of at a time or an expiration date for how long he can hold onto quirks? Maybe he experimented on the nomus with quirks he doesnt need or time is about to run out for. A limit would also explain why he gave a 'useless stockpile' quirk to his brother. This could also imply his brother was the first one he ever started experimenting on. Nomu patient 0. But that would mean he's had a singular plan for over a century he's dedicated to, and i have no idea what sort of plan that might be.

I really want them to do JJK but dang would they enjoy Bungo Stray Dogs. that one is so fun. The character dynamics and the "I lost the plot point but still am enjoying it". I can't wait for their reaction to the Decay of Angels.

I'm slowly learning katakana. Midoriya's t-shirt says "T-shirts." Didn't notice that the other times that I watched.
:) welcome to the other side
There's about 2 more ahead-- have you already seen them or are you watching with LR?
The Izuocha counter has began. This is my ship!!! I can't wait to see what you think of it
Shoto should’ve said something like
I’ll come. I’ll just take my dad’s credit card. :) hEhehehHEhehEhE

Shigaraki goozled that boy eesh
he has appeared my second favorite anime character ever dabi!
first half of season 3 is PEAK MHA
S3 episode 22/23 is peak S3
I love my guy Shigaraki.
Was that a game of thrones reference??? At 25:47 ?!??! 😂
Its almost time for my girl Toga to shine.
Cant wait!!
I love how when I looked up shigaraki google said he was a MINOR villain in mha 😂.Also should I do a toga cosplay?
Random question: Does anyone know if Kenny has only seen up to a certain point? Because I can wait ofr him to be also surprised at things. When this channel started taking off, I stopped watching MHA because I was convinced that they would cover it, so I am looking forward to when they reach that point too :)
I belive he said he was all caught up.
@@MrZBrains to be more specific, he’s caught up with the anime and not the manga.
I had the same question, but the rest of the video I was like 'ah nevermind' -- there was only one point (someone remind me to go find it), and I think ultimately he just forgot
Can't wait to see what they think of Mahito if they pick JJK back up
I really want them to do JJK but dang would they enjoy Bungo Stray Dogs. that one is so fun. The character dynamics and the "I lost the plot point but still am enjoying it". I can't wait for their reaction to the Decay of Angels.
I know its too late already since you're in season 3 already. But the 1st my her movie takes place right here after this episode and before the start of season 3, in the timeline
The episode that sets it up is apparently ep 20, so we will watch it after that!
you guys should watch the first movie its cannon and its set between season 2 and 3
next season best intro
So sorta non related to the show, but... if you can pull off the attitude.. you could pull off a perfect Levi cosplay... the potential is there
Toga makes sense later but for now it be what it be
day 3 asking for Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans
