Who makes the smoothest spinning reel? Right now after using and testing pretty much every single $200 spinning reel on the market. The Daiwa Back Bay series stands out above the others.
It takes the Daiwa BG's rock solid platform. Adds a few light rubber seals at the handle and main shaft. And adds a ferrofluid'ic seal in the form of their Mag Seal at the anti reverse clutch. That does a great job of protecting both the clutch and the sensitive pinion bearing. (If you have a spinner that sounds raspy under no load. Generally it's that pinion bearing that is the cause.
