Hamilton Square area is so beautiful. Some beautiful buildings on Charing Cross to and birkenhead Park. If you walk up the road to Oxton you step into a different place with nice shops and houses. Shame the high street doesn't reflect this so much. Hopefully the future will see some good change 🤞
Thanks I enjoyed this walk. Interesting to see how much the weeds have grown thru the concrete. I guess the council workers aren't working due to Covid?
Hamilton Square was built by John Laird to house his workers at the shipbuilding yards. That's why his name is to be found there. In a similar way, William Hesketh Lever, of the Lever Brothers built Port Sunlight to house the workers at his Soap Factory. Both are magnificent homes originally.
Was originally going to rival Edinburgh’s New Town but they ran out of money. My friend was born in Birkenhead in 1936, and remembers the Blitz on Liverpool and Birkenhead.
I lived/worked in Birkenhead for 4 years in Tranmere..wow great memories,Thanks! love from Colombia
My deepest sympathy.

The weather is very hot
I bet junior really misses his home
Lewis Colliins from Birkenhead.
Glenda Jackson and Patricia Routledge and of course Paul O’Grady.
Grange RD, Pyramids litter strewn and ugly to say the least. Awesome Hamilton Sq.. THX
Yeah the contrast between Hamilton Square and the shopping area was pretty striking!
Um hola
How far is Birkenhead from Liverpool town centre?
5min by train
Looks like it is a dying Town.
It's not dying - population is growing each year .. it's just not overcrowded like most of the cities.
Us scousers call this side of the river the dark side.
Lol!
But they call us Jedi's too 🥴
