Great update I live on other side of Wirral in irby. Just joined your channel. Just letting you know the road works are actually part of the regeneration that is ment to be happening in Birkenhead apparently over next few years a lot is going to be happening so will be interesting to see what happens over time. But the works at the moment are due to be completed by next summer new paving and just made to look better. Just letting you know. As I said let’s just wait and see what happens.
Birkenhead has a lot to see- perhaps go earlier in the day when it's safer, and things are open. We have world heritage sites such as Birkenhead Park, and we have the wonderful Birkenhead Priory, Williamson Art Gallery, Future Yard, Hamilton Square, Bidston Moss nature reserve, Bidston Hill, Tam O' Shanter's Farm, Storeton Woods. Up from Charing Cross there are lots of international food places. We have multicultural centres, lots of community hubs, charities and projects. The council are currently 'regenerating' the area. hence lots of road works and things changing. It is a very socio-economically deprived area, but there's so much going on here. I hope you can visit again in the day and check out some of the things above. I think you will be very impressed. You could also travel into Port Sunlight.
Good documentary video. As sad it is to see a lot of closed shops we really have no one to blame but ourselves - we buy on Amazon and other online places and we're too lazy to go and support local businesses.
The vast majority of Wirral is nice and very middle class. It’s the small dumps that people focus on and laugh at! Nice parts - New Brighton, Eastham, Bebington, Heswall, Neston, Spital, even some parts of Wallasey like Egremont, and some parts of Bromborough. Dumps - Seacomb, most of Birkenhead, and Leasowe.
This is my town. I grew up and lived roughly 5 miles away from most of my life. It was a thriving vibrant town and it’s heartbreaking to see it today.
The local park was a model for Central Park in New York…
GHOST TOWN FINISHED VERY SAD THANKS WIRRAL BOROUGH COUNCIL!!!!!!!!!

Like most towns Birkenhead gave so much to the growth of the empire and now like most towns we are spent.
Thanks for documenting Birkenhead, Jim. I don't think I'll be visiting there anytime soon! Looked a bit creepy and depressing!
