    I’ve been getting a lot of requests about Kanji so here it is. Please note that I won’t be able to teach Kanji themselves because I believe we have our own study style. But I do hope this gives you an idea on how I study and deal with them. 🤗

      i write all the kanji i need to study that week on a piece of paper and stick them to the objects around me, so that when I remember the kanjis whenever i look at those objects. And I change change those post-it notes every week and manage them to my weekly kanji study routine.
      And obviously , I practise 2 kanjis every day ...

    My brother studied languages at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in California. The pace of study was intense. Students had to master the language course in 36-64 weeks. Psychologically it was very difficult, but fortunately he was helped by Yuriy Ivantsiv's book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages”. The book " Polyglot Notes" became a desk book for my brother, because it has answers to all the problems that any student of a foreign language has to face. Thanks to the author of the channel for this interesting video! Good luck to everyone who studies a foreign language and wants to realize their full potential!

    Interesting fact: Translated to English, The word, Kanji, roughly means, "Maybe I should have taken French".
    I will admit to being very lazy when it comes to learning Kanji. Mainly because my interests are mostly in speaking and listening to Japanese. However, even with that kind of a slacker mindset, I've managed to learned some Kanji along the way. I think that if you're learning Japanese, you can't help but learn it, even if is slowly. I'm certain that the more comfortable I become with the language, the more I'll turn my attention toward Kanji. For me, I know that dedicating the time and effort it takes to learn Kanji takes away from the time I use to learn vocabulary, grammar, and how to combine those things into sentences that make a little sense. I figure, if it's good enough for a Japanese 3-year-old, it's good enough for me. :)

    • @LifeofMori
      @LifeofMori  2 роки тому +13

      You’re very accurate with your translation, Bryan. 😅 You’re right with your priorities. If you’re more focus on speaking and listening, you’ll be okay with not dealing with Kanji. It’s also what the Japanese tell me. Even they, themselves, are having a hard time dealing with Kanji so let’s not sweat it. 😁 Focus on what your goals are and Kanji will come alongside learning those things. Also, I’m jealous of the elementary students I’m teaching because they’re better at Kanji. LOL. We can do this! 😊

    A thing I find good that helps practice kanji (as well as grammar and vocabs) for me is keeping a daily journal in Japanese (I guess typing might help practice different skills but I like to handwrite it). Even if I only write a couple of sentences or can't fully express my thoughts, is satisfying to look back and know "I can say more now" or "I should have said this instead". I tend to leave mistakes as they are but I do sometimes go back with some more paper and if I see a mistake on the page, write on the separate paper what it should be. I also leave a line between so if I do use an unfamiliar kanji, or just one I do know but forget the reading, I can add furigana

    Hi, Ate Mori! Your video just came right in time for me to learn Kanji. I’m unsure about how to start but you’ve inspired me. Though I have one question that you didn’t seem to tackle in depth in the video, should I worry about Kanji readings (kun and on) or should I learn them together with vocabulary rather than memorizing it one by one? 😊

    • @LifeofMori
      @LifeofMori  2 роки тому

      Hello Clara, thank you so much for the support! Yes, I don’t think I tackled the ON and KUN readings that deep in the video. The simplest way to explain it is, you use the KUN reading is used as a standalone Kanji or when paired with Hiragana and the ON reading is when paired with another Kanji. It’s hard to remember them but you’ll get better once you learn a lot of vocab. Hope this helps! 😊

    I've been doing the Heisig method, and it's honestly worked for me. The stories I've come up with and loved have really gotten those kanji stuck in my mind, and the ones that haven't, I've drilled myself with using Anki, writing down each new one that I learn. I fell off a couple months ago because of some heavy matters, and things haven't gotten much better, but I'm hoping to return to my studies as soon as possible, I just need to put myself in the right mindset. Keep up the wonderful content~ ❤

    Hi Mori. Can I ask you something about the study of kanji? I am a beginner with kanji. You can help me. When I have to learn a kanji, in addition to the order of the strokes, I have to learn all the meanings and all the readings by heart, or is there another way to study? I also use Jisho (I like it a lot) but as you too can see, each kanji has more readings and more meanings associated with it and unless I have a super memory, I wouldn't know how to do it. I hope you can help me. A thousand thanks.

    こんにちはモリ先生!あなたのヴィデオすごいです!
    You’re video’s always give me a huge boost of motivation to study Japanese!
    Also, what do you think is more important when learning Japanese?
    Learning Vocabulary, or Kanji?
    Is it also okay to learn them at the same time as long as it’s not overflowing your schedule?
    And how do you memorize adjectives, verbs, and nouns?
    If you can answer at least one question, that would be amazing!
    ありがとうございます!(╹◡╹)

    • @LifeofMori
      @LifeofMori  2 роки тому +2

      Vocabs are the essential part of learning Japanese. Kanji will come along when you already know the words. The more words you know, the more Kanji you’ll also learn. 😊 When it comes to memorization, it’s easier for me to memorize words by continuously immersing myself such as using the words as often as I could in a sentence or reading it over and over again. Hope this helps!
