Congratulations on knitting your first sock! Great job! Socks are addicting. You’ll always have a pair on your needles! Hope you enjoy your trip with your dad!!❤
We vacationed in Gatlinburg last year. Dolly Parton Stampede Dinner Show was good food and a good time. They had the best apple pie drink. So delish. And Dollywood had the best strawberry shortcake I have ever tasted. Enjoy this time with your dad, and I love the pieces you will be stitching to commemorate your trip.
I hope you an your father have a fantastic time. For your 2 commemorative stitches (mountains in jars) you could tag them Father and Daughter. Glad your father is doing so well. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
Hello from Australia. I totally get it with your excitement over your sock! The first sock I knitted was to try to see if I could, and also to try out the self stripe pattern in the wool - so cool. I've been working on a bigger knitting project recently - a jumper (sweater). Just today I finished the front. The back I finished last winter. Now to start the sleeves! Hmm, I must pull out one of my many Mill Hill kits and join the SAL. Have fun on your trip away - sounds lovely.
We loved Cades Cove - there are some old churches and homesites to explore. And learning the story of the area was really neat. There were some other little areas around there to check out that we ran out of time for. Clingman’s dome was good to visit too!
Hi Liz! Hope you and your Dad have a wonderful trip! I am looking forward to your knitting episode. I used to knit, as a child, and you have sparked that interest in me again! Of course now the yarn selection has expanded as well as the tools used for knitting. I’d be really interest in how you got started, your first project, and all the tools you needed. It will be like I’m starting from scratch, lol.
Congrats on knitting socks! Enjoy your time in Gatlinburrg with your dad! My family rented a cabin and it was a great time. I know there is a cross stitch store in Johnson City, TN but don’t think there is one in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Happy Stitching!
You gave me hope about making socks. I think that is wonderful you’re going with your Dad on a trip. I was fortunate to get to go on several trips with my parents and 8 siblings and spouses. Later, my 3 sisters, sometimes sister in laws would go with my Mom. We even invited the guys once in a while. I sincerely pray everything goes well with your Dad. Really enjoy this time with your parents. I’m 70 and honestly don’t know where the time went. In fact on the fourth, I went to my oldest sister’s house with her family. In 2012, we both had brain tumors and mine was benign and we lost her a few months later. Her granddaughter on the fourth introduced me to her friend and said this is my great Aunt Lorraine, she and my Grandma are sisters. I started to cry and have shed a few tears ever since. I am so sorry I’m telling you my story I guess I needed to share with someone and you touched my heart. I can tell you are close with both your parents. I’m sure they cherish you as much as you cherish them. And I also love watching your videos and love your projects. Right now I’m on Boo hoping to get it done and FFO by Halloween.
I love to knit socks, I like the magic loop method knitting 2 at one time, makes it easier to match stripes or designs I love to visit the Aquarium in Gatlinburg, and Smokey Mountain Spinnery they have beautiful yarns and fibers. Have a great vaca :)
Hi Liz: Thank-you for sharing your Mothers designs, so adorable, I hope you have a ball with your Father, I hope he is doing better, he is in our Prayers daily. Nice progress on the Dimensions design, I think its is great you are sharing your knitting, I do not knit but love seeing what other stitchers are doing, love the sock yarn color, nice new stash for free, contact the Chamber Of Commerce down there they will tell you all the attractions worth seeing, just tell them that you are not into theme parks, hope you have an amazing time.
Dollywood is not a typical amusement park. There are some rides-mostly low key from what I recall-but the shops are worth the trip. Lots of artisans and handmade goods. I was there more than 10 years ago. I’d recommend reading some current reviews in case things have changed. There is an 8 mile loop of arts and crafts stores and galleries called Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community Trail near Gatlinburg. Good antiquing in Sevierville. The GSM stores in the national park are good as well especially if you like nature. There is an entrance to the park in Gatlinburg and the shop is close to that. And of course there is no end to the natural beauty within the park. Cades Cove is nice but can be a long line to enter. Great place for nature photography. Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is heavenly. Pack a picnic lunch and stop to take in the splendor. It’s like going to a spa but better. Have fun!
Enjoy your trip with your dad! I completely understand your excitement about your sock. I felt the same way when I completed my first sock! ❤🎉 It's such a magical process.
Have a in trip with your Dad. Make sure you go to Cades Cove and Roaring Fork Motor trail. Both you can drive thru. Clingmans Dome trail. It’s a steep .5 mile trek to top viewing platform. Don’t go on foggy day or you won’t see anything at the top.
Thank for sharing your stitching. Perhaps you could put something like Dad and me TN 2024. That might fit? Spitballing here. Hard because there isn’t much space on that tag. Have fun on your trip, I want to learn how to make socks too!! It sounds like a lot of fun. Have a wonderful Day.
Some beautiful releases from you and your mom! I was just thinking the other day that it was time for your mom to make an appearance🙂 Have a great time with your dad! Your sock is so pretty!! Now I want to learn to make socks!!
Awesome accomplishment on your socks!! Three dimensional knitting in a small circumference is pretty tricky and you did a beautiful job! LOVE your new seaside design with the two fabrics! I would really like to try that someday. Love all the inspiration you give with every episode! Enjoy your time with your dad.
Working on my MILL HILL “ Calavera ornament” Naranja and Amarillo for my Halloween Tree….😂moving on to my almost 80-year-old husband’s vanilla socks in watermelon colors….it is unusually warm/hot here in Olympia, Washington State on the Puget Sound….Enjoy Your Papa as mine was a true nurturer….and they are to be treasured!
Have a great trip with your Dad! Our favorite things in Gatlinburg were the Tennessee Aquarium and Anakeesta. The Grands always have to get lunch at Pancake Pantry. These are all downtown. There used to be a map of local artisans and craftsmen that you could visit.

“Rubber Stamp Arting” is my new favorite term! 😂 it’s right up there with “paper carding” that Kari coined for what I do. 😆😆😆❤❤❤
Hope your Dad is in good health. Love your video. I’m also down the sock rabbit hole. Have a wonderful time.

If the mill hill has beads watch the size of fabric you use.
What's the yarn store that you're talking about in Gatlinburg?
