4, MAYBE 5. I get overwhelmed easily, it’s so fascinating to see how some people in the comments have 7+ notebooks, my head would overheat and explode.😅

I'm also quickly overwhelmed, but switched to more notebooks this year so I can actually only see what I'm looking at, in combination with wanting to use less electronics. I got lost in using only 1 or 2 notebooks in the past, which is why I switched up. Although 3 might not be seen as notebooks according to where you put the line.
      - A thin A6 line softcover that is my agenda, in the front I number a few months divided over 2 pages per month, so each day has 1 line only. In the back I have 2 pages per year, with 3-4 lines per month, so if I have an appointment in 2026 or even 2027, I can just write it down at the right month. But nothing else goes in that notebook, which means this very thin (40-80page) notebook will serve as my agenda for almost 3 years, if I stay consistent. And although I don't know if I stay that consistent and if the booklet will hold out that long, but I haven't been this consistent with an agenda since/before high school, more than 15 years ago. So it is a major win.
      - A A5 ringband that is my recipebook, because they kept getting lost on loose cards or inside my bullet journal
      - A very basic to-do list ring binder, bound on top, I would call it half an A5, but not like A6. It has lines with boxes at the end to cross off and the pages can easily be ripped out, which is how I use it for some lists.
The other ones are A5'ish more regular notebook style, but these 3 that bring the total from 7 to 10 are quite a bit less typical.

I have my Master Planner which has to be a huge binder bc my weekly layouts are 11 pages each, and monthly are 3 pages each. Then I have my brain dump notebook, my Daily Doodles & Scribbles calendar book, my 30 Day challenges calendar book, my fitness planner, my nutrition and hydration planner, my Dream Diary, my daily reflections planner,my weekly reflections planner, my monthly What's Happening in my Life planner, my mood/challenges/gratitude journal, my daily intentions/manifestation planner,my Daily Affirmations mini planner, my gardening mini planners (1 daily mini agenda book, a daily mini calendar book, a Field Guide book, and a plant and care info planner), my financial planners (bill planner + budget planner+ business finances planner), my household planner, my business planner, my daily scheduling/appointment book, my Agendas planner, Meetings planner, project planner, beauty & fashion planner, personal development workbook + planner, a Research & Development notebook, social planner, extra curricular planner, school agenda/planner + assignment planner notebook, my Recovery planner, habit tracker notebook, routines tracker notebook, checklists notebook, travel planner,& spiritual planner + prayer notebook.
I am involved in a million clubs, classes, sports,+ activities; run a business, & have school, church, and so on, so having a separate planner for each aspect of life (or more than one, oftentimes) helps keep all the elements separate and accounted for, while the master planner ties everything in together so nothing is forgotten (for ex, daily schedule with tasks from every aspect of life & so on).

I tried having three notebooks last year: gardening/chickens, homeschool planning, and every day (monthly, daily, goal/habit, reading, event planning). I just can't seem to keep up with the multiple books! This year, I have moved most of my homeschool planning to an online planning tool and am considering seriously pruning what's in my gardening journal or maybe ditching it. Almost everything else is in my everyday journal. One stop recording seems to work best for me.

Reading Journal, Cyclic “Everyday” Planner, Long Term Collections, Knitting Journal, Knitting R&D Journal, Project Tracker, & Swatchbook… ideally. I also have Mini Travelers that my husband is supposed to make me a little folio for. One for quotes, one for random ideas of things I’d like to make/skills to learn/new hobbies to try and a third that’s things I want to do/places I want to go/restaurants to try… etc. I like them as little notebooks because they’re portable and when full, you just take it out & replace it and catalogue it. With the quotes one, I then go back and see what still resonates with me and maybe add them to art projects or whatnot.
You’re my inspiration. I think Cyclic planning will make it far more functional for me. I’ll do a quarterly layout with each week for things like meals & appointments & a weekly “would be nice if” list of things to get done. I just don’t think daily is something I can keep up with in terms of writing everything out but having the week at a glance & planning meals in advance somewhat should help a LOT with budgeting and the goal of losing weight.
My Knitting R&D journal is pretty cool. When opened to a spread, it’s lined on the right side and grid on the left side. It works nicely that I have a space to draw designs and mark out stitch counts or pattern repeats for new design possibilities and lined paper for doing grading math or just making notes.
I’m contemplating a daily journal that’s separate and all it does is track health symptoms and mental health stuff. I don’t want daily reminders of how crappy my body is in a regular planner, ya know? But that can just be a simple notebook.

Oh man. I’m impressed with all the multi use journal users. I struggle with more than one. In saying that, I’ve used a couple this year. Generally, though, I’m an everything just goes in one place kinda gal.
In 2024, I’ve had 3 types of journals:
    1. My everyday journal (1-3 annually depending how much I’m writing).
    2. Annual collections (I keep this info in my phone notes all year and transfer it at year end.
    3. I’m expecting next year so have done a pregnancy/baby journal to track how I’m feeling.
What I’ve learned is 3 is too many and I’m excited to return to 1 when I’m able lol.

6 I think - Everyday, annual, long term, reading, goals and commonplace. I notice you don't have a commonplace journal - it's where I store not only info on topics of interest (like ADHD) but also poems, quotes, etc that really appeal to me. I love it and need to add to it more often.

@ I saw the idea on UA-cam, sometimes when we’re commuting, waiting or just feeling bored we grab our cellphone and scroll. An idle journal prevents that, the idea is to grab it and write or draw whatever comes into your mind. I enjoy art myself so I always have it with me to put it to use instead of scrolling.

I’m going to try 3 this year: 1. A general notebook for seeing a full week at a glance (daily planning by week, I guess?) and lists, meeting notes, project info, etc., I reference all the time; 2. a health journal I can take with me to the doctor’s office (tracked by week, with space for notes from doctor’s appointments, tests, etc. 3. A goal “Amy improvement plan journal,” all about goal setting, habits, self reflection, etc. it’s a Passion Planner, but I’m only using it for that, not for daily plans. Fingers crossed!
Edit: Whoops! I have a field notes-size commonplace book too, but that doesn’t change yearly-just when I fill it up.

I'm just getting back into "notebooking" after a hiatus due to illness, and this video made me feel a LOT better about my ambitious desire to have 5-6 different collections going! It seems like a lot of notebooks to start all at once, but I know that I work better when things don't get interrupted in the middle in my everyday notebook. I get stuck starting something new if I have a page where something is "hanging" (like thoughts from a book I'm still in the middle of reading or questions I need to ask that haven't been answered yet) and I like the idea of organizing them all out. It's nice to know I'm not alone!

What a fascinating insight into your collection, thanks for sharing! 📚 How many notebooks and planners will I use next year?! I'd estimate 12-15, but I'm still figuring it out, trying to simplify my systems, but videos like this make me want to ADD more journals. At a glance, here's my disorganised list of what I have so far:
    1. Morning pages/ everything journal - a few per year, various brands, usually pale pink, usually with elastic closure
    2. Commonplace notebook - Paperblanks Flexi Sun & Moonlight
    3. LH Agenda planner for my creative endeavours (writing and art)
    4. Otto Goals Planner for other parts of life (home, social, leisure and TAFE study)
    5. The Rich in Life Planner and Diary (health) - this one's a maybe
    6. Otto Personalised Planner (dotted) Habit Tracker and Checklists
    7. Learning Log (art) - Otto green linen with buckle
    8. Learning Log (anything) - thick Kaiser style with constellation cover
    9. Learning Log (writing) - pink A5 notebook with elastic closure
    10. Big Questions journal - Paper Crane ballet pink folio
    11. Writing Process Diary - Otto spiral-bound The Dot Journal
    12. Art Process Diary - A5 visual arts diary
    13. Podcast notes - thin Otto 'you are one of a kind' notebook
    14. Art aesthetic and experiments journals - 5-7 visual arts journals of various kinds and sizes
    15. Vision Journal (values, word of the year, reflections & intentions, character etc) - Paperblanks magnetic closure flap
    16. Miracles, memories and moments collection - small Paperblanks magnetic closure flap
    17. Pocket notebook - small Paperblanks soft cover
18 . LH Agenda 'Write your Own Story' journal for mini-memoirs
    19. Half a dozen 'Continue' composition books from Daiso - one per teacher for particular writing and art mentors
    20. Devotions journals & sermon notes - various soft cover notebooks
    21. A4 spiral bound scribble books for brainstorming goals, affirmations, IG content, anything
    22. Therapy notes - 'Continue' Daiso composition book
    23. TAFE notes - cute grey & white bird patterned Otto notebook
    24. Masterclass notes - A5 Daiso dot grid notebook
... and onwards, I'm embarrassed to continue!
... more notebooks and journals contain handwritten drafts of some books
... UA-cam ideas notebook, in case I'm ever cloned and have time and courage to start
Yes, my notebook game is out of control, but it serves as a second brain, and is about as chaotic and multi-passionate as my actual brain. When I travel I am very conflicted about which journals to take, and I worry about losing them if there's ever a disaster. Help!!!
    Ok, bye!

I have three. For the first time I am trying a Clever Fox Planner. It isn’t exactly what I wanted especially when it comes to layout but I just found myself struggling towards the end of this year to set up the already basic layout that I use. I am hoping that the combination printed layouts that I fill in along with the empty dot grid pages in the back will help me to keep consistent. My second journal is my medical journal which I think I started in 2023 but back dated to 2020. In my medical journal I keep track of visits to the doctor, dentist, chiropractor, etc. who I saw, what was discussed/done and any additional actions/medication prescribed. My third journal, new for 2025, is a long term collections journal. In the past I have put some spreads/collections in my everyday journal that I don’t really end up using and are often incomplete making me feel like I have wasted pages. So now if the collection isn’t specific for 2025 it can go in my long term collection instead.
Edit because I realized that I have a two additional journals that I forgot about. One because I didn’t use it much last year but is involved in one of my goals for 2025: a Bible study/notes/prayer journal. The second one is a Clever Fox Budget Planner which is new to me and brings my total number of journals to five.

    I have 5!
    1) I have a Happy Planner for my primary every day. I find it saves me a TON of time, and I can create simple custom trackers once a week/month for the things I update daily.
    2) Then I have a separate Work Journal where I track all aspects of my "professional" life, such as anything interesting that happened at work, or if I learned anything new, stuff like that. I update that roughly every other day, and it has a much more journal-like style to it.
    3) I also have a Midori 1 year diary where I've been writing a quick mini-paragraph of how each day goes, and I've been enjoying it a lot, but I do have trouble remembering to write in it every day because I need to re-arrange my desk space better. It's a goal for 2025!
    4) My "Stadge" book is basically just a cheap ring notebook that I use for all of my "sloppy" writing. This is my oldest designated notebook, as I started it way back in middle school! The name "Stadge" is a mis-spelling of "Stage" that I kept over the years as a reminder that perfect is the enemy of done. Each book gets a new number. I'm on Stadge 8 now! It's where I go to get an idea started without worrying about "ruining" my nicer books, and it's also just a good spot to write down random stuff that doesn't belong anywhere else, but I might still want to reference back to it one day.
    5) And last but not least, I have a notebook for testing out new pens, markers, and highlighters when I get them. It gives me a space to uniformly test them for things like smudging and what-not, as well as how much I spent on them and if I'd consider buying them again.

This video was so fun! 2025 will be the first year I try having multiple notebooks at the same time, so it was very cool to see how you approach that. The ones in my line-up will be:
    - Everyday journal (mostly a reading journal and habit tracker journal)
    - One line a day journal
    - Gratitude journal (I found a printed one that is a colouring calendar, and I'm really looking forward to creating a zen moment for myself each week as I colour in that weekly)
    - Junk journal/creative journal for a creative way of memory keeping
    - Commonplace book
Can't wait for the new year!

    2. 1 TN for Personal use: 1 dot grid insert for traditional bujo logging, 1 insert for annual collections, and 1 larger insert for long term collections. The 1st insert covers about half a year. It is replaced when it’s full. The annual insert is replaced with the new year. The long term insert stays in.
The second journal is also a TN for work. 1 dot grid insert for work bujo logging, and an insert for each long term project I’m working on.
I find TN to be the perfect solution for having “multiple” journals with as few books as possible

I had been doing yearly bullet journals since 2018, and they functioned as an "everything journal". I kept work stuff, personal stuff, media trackers, swatches, memory keeping and scrapbook dumping all in one book. In the last couple of years, I eventually migrated my work planning into the hobonichi weeks to save time and keep things clear and organized. For 2024 i felt like i didnt want to do my traditional "everything journal" and instead made a media tracker journal (games, tv, books) with the ocassional "special event" scrapbook spreads for special events that popped up throughout the year. It's a chaotic mess, but it was meant to be a low-stakes creative outlet. For 2025, I'd like to start a new media journal that's more organized and with more space to write my thoughts and opinions. Im not sure if i will make a separate journal for memory keeping yet.
I absolutely love the Life Admin Gamification method you have started. I hope to try it out for myself once i see more of it in action!
Thank you for your inspiring content, helpful workshops, and for doing vlogmas even though you were sick! Take care!

This is a lined notebook where I quickly write what I plan to do for my health that day (what type of exercise, how I'm feeling if I'm taking a day off). My last notebook is a wellness journal based off of a book called "The Kindness Method" and therapy. I try to check in with my mental and physical health once a month or so and write out what is working and what isn't. I started that notebook with the "assignments" from "The Kindness Method" so I have that reference material in there, too.

I'm not switching much out this year. I'm torn between the white variant floral Tiefossi and trying out a B6 160GSM I found for my main journal, though it isn't a brand I'm familiar with, so a little apprehension there. Saying that, I don't use wet/dark pens, particularly. I struggle to keep up with weekly and daily spreads, so I keep yearly collections, plus trackers in there, and I'm thinking I might add just a to do list spread to the main tracker to make a kind of monthly-lite section. I generally just keep a small, pre-made diary for appointments etc. (Edit: Went with the Tiefossi and wow, it's so much thicker than I expected!)
I also have a usually-A5 scribble journal I still need to select for next year, and an ongoing lined A6 quick notes book for when ideas strike. Less often updated and also being carried forward are my project books - one for events, one for writing and one for filmmaking. All of these are thick, lined not-quite-B5s so will last a while each.

I'm going to split my bujo into two for next year: one for yearly and long-term collections, that I plan on using for several years, and an everyday journal, which will probably be enough for the whole year. (I almost had enough place in this year's bujo for the whole 2024. I realized that if I just pull out the yearly collections to a separate one, then I will be able to fit into one notebook for a year 😁). Other than that, I have a one line a day journal (same as what you call 5 year journal), a diary for long form journaling and a work bujo. So that adds up to 5. 💞

    For 2025 I'll have:
-A5 everyday to finish (will likely be full at end of January) -might use a square one after that
    -Reading journal
-starting a yearly collections journal and a long term collections journal
-using an a6 as an art/memory keeper (things like old projects from when I was a kid - I'll take a picture and put them in there and then the actual ones can go byebye....pictures of the Christmas cards I've been making the past few years...etc)
And im debating between putting my favorite recipes on index cards or in an a5 in attempt to have it all in one spot and taking up way less room than it currently does 😂
So at least 5...maybe 6. And I expect to go through 3-4 everyday journals next year 😊

Assuming I follow through with my plan, I'm looking into 4 notebooks next year. The first time I'm attempting any expansive journaling beyond just filling out of pages with diarist posts.
I want to try doing a 5 yr and I found a pre-printed one. Then one I'd been using for daily highlights since I got it, it might turn into something for brain downloads next year. One I'd had for 5 years and never used, maybe to try some layouts to keep track of my interests. And a spiral for commonplace stuff like interesting facts about people I'd heard of but admittedly know very little about.

I'm pretty new to BuJo still (I restarted back in May after a 2-3 month experiment the year before that then went into hibernation), but I only use 2: my every day journal and my testing/R&D notebook which mostly has plans for the next month's spreads (e.g. marker colors, spread ideas) and material examples (e.g. examples of the stencils I got to speed up some of my setup). Everything else I track (mostly knit/crochet/yarn projects, books read) have digital spaces (I've read 150+ books so far this year - even writing down all of those titles in a notebook would annoy me, haha).

Wonderful video! I’ve actually wondered how many journals you do every year, so thanks for sharing! I have 2 I’ll be using for sure: Home Planner by the Passionate Penny Pincher (to keep track of all life stuff: appointments, vacations, etc.). I also got a ‘purse-size’ planner that goes with it, so while I’m out & about I can be mindful of scheduled plans, without carrying the huge planner. The 2nd is a ‘doodle’ journal by AmandaRachLee, which has lots of pics you can color along the way. That’s got mood and other trackers in it. I’m excited to try it, because it’s going to be fun and creative. After watching your video here, I’ve decided to add 3 more: Reading journal (I’m going to try the 52 week reading challenge), the Long-term Collections journal, and a Health Journal. For me, anything more than that and it will be too much. Thanks for the inspo! ❤️🌹🎄

I’m starting 2025 with an insane number of notebooks considering I only got back into planning and journalling last year! I’ve got my Saint Belford Curation 2025 planner, which has everything I need to set goals, habit track, plan etc. I used one for 2024 and it’s the first time I’ve consistently used a planner since uni; I really enjoyed its layered approach to goals, habits and tasks! I can move stuff that was in my bujo this year in there too since they added some dot grid pages at the back this year. Then I have a Hobonichi Hon Techo for daily journalling, and an A&O for creative memory keeping, for those things I want to celebrate. My LT1917 reading journal is continuing into 2025, and then I have a Hobonichi weeks for a writing journal that I can use to scribble down story ideas and observations. There’s also a small commonplace that will continue on till it’s full, and then my dedicated novel planning notebooks. And finally, my work bujo, since I keep work separate from personal.
My sister, a veteran bujo-er, said she doesn’t want to think about what my evening routine will be like! 😂

I'm slowly working through the stuff I want, once I get rid of all of my undated planners then I'll try to set a bullet journal. In the meantime I'll be enjoying your content.

I’d tried reading/kpop journals in the past but couldn’t keep up with them bc of the time and effort to make spreads look as nice as I wanted them. This pocket journal is working really well for me bc it’s not decorative at all- each page is just a brief mini review of a book, show, game, album, etc.

There are enough dot grid pages at the back for what I need so I have got that one for my everyday journal. I converted to a hobonichi and quickly sized up to a standard TN size of (pretty much) same layouts...
In the last month or so has been added a daily journal (A7 daily), and a scrapbook memory keeping type thing.
2025 is gonna be an A6 (daily journal), A health and wellness Kinbor weeks (habit tracking for domestic cleaning, monthly pages to track my garden notes -planting, harvest, growth, pruning, blah, blah-, weekly pages for what I'm eating daily and the weekly memo page for dinner meal plans, and notes pages are goals and my gym sessions), and a more traditional bujo (future log, goals, month + weekly planning done in real time. Using Dutch doors + notes for scribble plans), tn insert (a momento/ephemera memory keeping), and one last TN insert (professional development notes for work). I'm stoked to get started!!! Already some of it is working... Loving it!!!

4&5. Are spiral notebooks for my yearly collections and for my craft and UA-cam notes on stuff like your channel or craft things I want to try. kind of like your R&D books.(A5)
    6. Is a weekly planner that I use for my future log stuff. I just put it in the date on the calendar, any appointments, birthdays, weekly pages I use for my rough idea to do list, brainstorming and weather tracking. Dates I am watching my grandson.. stuff that has a future date.(B5)
    7. Is an art junk journal. Use it whenever the mood strikes me (Composition)

It’s been trial and error for me through it the years. I have tried everything in one book. I have tried lots of planners and journals. I think 2025 is the year I have figured it out.
My Hobonichi weeks is basically the heartbeat. The center of all my planners and journals and from there it expands out to the other journals. So my Hobonichi weeks will capture pretty much what I do in a day. What happened. What I ate. Did I work out What books I read. What movies and tv shows I read. And also a journaling section where I can expand on my thoughts if needed but I’m not pressured to journal every day.
Basically my life in a year collection.
Then those topics in my Hobonichi weeks gets expanded and in more detail. Such as a reading journal, a fitness journal, a health and wellness journal, a finance planner. And all these journals/planners are not yearly. I will use another notebook once it’s complete which can take years. So I’m actually only buying the Hobonichi weeks every year.
    So my lineup so far:
Life in a year: Hobonichi weeks
Health and Wellness: a5 Magic and I planner
Fitness journal: A&O XL pocket journal
Finance Planner: a repurposed and redesigned older Hobonichi weeks that can be used for several years.
Reading journal: A reading journal specifically for books. Cant remember the brand.
Recipe and food journal: B6 slim MD notebook
Big Emotions dairy: Midori 1day1page notebook (undated portion)
Gratitude journal: Midori Mini 5 year Diary
Stationery collections and swatches: MD a6 notebook
I think that’s all. Maybe. lol

      Grocery list: a7 md notebook.
Catch all notes (scribble scrabble): a6 slim MD ring notebook
Beauty/Nail polish swatch collection : Passport Travelers Notebook.
      Ok. I that’s it. lol

My lineup for 2025 will include my ‘standard’ bujo (they tend to last roughly six months, so I have two), my new reading journal (2024 one was a Notebook Therapy standard size, which is a little smaller, my 2025 one will be the Archer and Olive one that came in a sub box with blue pages). 2024 I got a Hobinchi for gratitude journaling, but haven’t been consistent so I won’t get another. 2025 will be year one for me. Until I can find my groove, I won't be investing in the nicer products, such as Archer & Olive. I love the square design of a journal, but I don't yet know if their formatting will work for me. I am starting out with the Happy Planner line because I think they are cute, and I can easily move things around in them. One is an actual journal, and the other is a Black Friday notebook, both in the Classic size. I'm also using two separate A5 notebooks I have had for more than a year now. I'm using washi tape to lay things out before I make things permanent, and I am going to commit to making one section in one of the A5s as a Reading Journal. I have purchased stickers that will grace the pages in that section to write down the names of each book of the Bible. I plan to color the books after I have finished reading them, and I am also going to have a notes section to jot down Scriptures from each book that stands out to me, as well as another section for character studies. So far, I think the structure for my reading journal is the only one I have well thought out! As for the rest, I will be flying by the seat of my pants.

Oh interesting - fortnightly planning didn't quite work for me either - but the general cyclic planning is defenitly a keeper! I haven't had luck with my reset weeks tho. Either I had planned so much ahead for that week that it didn't make sense to have it as a reset week, or I just actually didn't know what to do or at least how to start with it. I have been thinking of just seeng what weeks are more free and then make them resets, rather than it being neatly every 13th week. But maybe you in 2025 would like to make a video about the practicalities around a reset week, and not just the setup. Like you in other videos decribe how to use certain layout?
I'm not realy measuring my notebooks in years, but I am at the moment using a reguar dotgrid BuJo, a regular diary and two different types of preprinted journals/calenders trackers; one that is made by another creator, for spiritual connecting and reflecting and self development and one for tracking and learning about+from and refleting on my period. I'm not continueing that one whrn it endswith the year tho, but I learned from it and might take some inspiration to track and reflet in my BuJo. In stead I am going to by a calender/refelctions journal based off of 2025's astrology, also made by (Danish) creators 🥰🥰
Thanks so much as always for what you do here, it really helps, inspires and brings love!
