Hope you like it! Let me know… I have another video that is my likes and dislikes here: Review: Greenworks Pro 80V Self Propelled Mower - 5 Things I Love and 2 That I Don't! ua-cam.com/video/nCJWSealZ1s/v-deo.html A few things to get used to.
I just bought this exact same mower from Costco today and so far I love it. What’s interesting is mine only came with a battery charger that works with one battery at a time, not two at the same time. I think I’m really gonna enjoy this mower. Thanks for the video.
I’m just learning this now from a few of the comments. I bought from Greenworks directly and got 25% off for a St Patrick’s deal… priced ended up $30 higher than what Costco deal is now but Costco has doubled the battery life warranty from 4 to 8 years. The double charger is definitely a plus however. The good news is the mower will run with only one battery installed. I pulled one the other day while my daughter was mowing and put it on the charger and she kept going.
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors Not a big deal for me. I just plug in the second battery while I'm mowing - *if* my battery runs out, I have the other one charged up.
Bought my Greenworks 80v mower from Costco. Took twenty minutes to charge first battery. My first time mowing I ran mower on one battery. By time I finished mowing the 2nd battery was charged. My mowing life has been radically changed for the better.
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors I have battery operated trimmer and edger by Craftsman. I also own a Craftsman electric chainshow that uses a cord. I bought it for $30. Helluva price and it meets my simple needs.
I have been a long time Greenworks customer that has owned many of there 80 volt tools now since 2018 and for the last 2-3 years, I owned the older 21 inch lawnmower with only one battery slot. I asked customer service over email at Greenworks last month in October about replacing the rubber flap on the bottom (which this mower also has) and they couldn't directly replace that flap part, so they decided to send me through a free warrenty replacement a whole new mower (this mower actually) with a new battery at 5.0 ah power (and charger, I have way too many chargers now). This mower was quite an upgrade over my older 21 inch model, with the ability to use 2 batteries now and the long handles on it is way sturdier compared to the older mower we had (the handles here seem like they are aluminum, the older one I believe were steel handles). This also doesn't bog down as much compared to the older 21 inch mower as well as this one seems to be a more sturdier/better power handling with thicker grass. The 2 batteries makes a huge difference as I don't need to go inside to get another battery! Also the turbo button was something I did not have either on the older model, but this drained the batteries more quickly so this might be something I might avoid using a lot. Just back in October to prepare for the Winter Season up in Wisconsin where I live, I ordered from the Greenworks website there 2 Stage Snowblower for the first time and it was quite a circus in shipping getting it to me. Long story short, it got lost in shipping briefly but was found quickly (its a freight shipment). Got it here and was quite the challenge disassembling the packaging. This snowblower came with 2 5.0 ah batteries but the snowblower can take up to 3 batteries, so i was glad to get the lawnmower replacement last month with the new 5.0 ah battery on that one, so I have three of those now for snowblowing. But had a happy ending with getting it all together and can't wait to try it out. Also bought the single stage 22 inch snowblower as well.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m a big fan. I now have about 7 tools and have no complaints about any of them. Also have the 22” snow blower and mine works well so far. I just love the simplicity of dropping in a battery and knowing that it’s gonna work. Too many years of fighting with 2 stroke gas engines that I didn’t maintain properly. Lol
Glad it was helpful! I’d you happen to buy online consider using my links and I’ll get a small commission at no added cost to you! Hope you love it! I’ve picked up the full suite of tools and love them all.
I honestly think some of these electric machines and yard tools are quite impressive and seem better than some gasoline ones. Nothing wrong with dealing with less gasoline and all the maintenance associated with it. nice review.
We are quite happy with it. I’ve expanded to a blower; trimmer, hedge trimmer, chainsaw and edger. Pretty impressed with them. More reviews coming soon. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hey Josh - it's Charles (IBM/Axway!) Imagine my surprise as I was comparing this mower to others, as my 8-year old Echo electric has end-of-life batteries, and it's time to replace. - and there you are! This outdoor power stuff is way cooler than B2B software! Thanks for the review!
Haha hey Charles, hope you are well! I’m having fun with YT and Amazon and this mower is quite nice. Lol. Literally just hung up with Lorraine 20 minutes ago. :-)
Sorry to hear that... awesome you are still under warranty? I've not had any battery issues thus far. If you got it from Costco it has an 8 year warranty and I think the Greenworks warranty was 4 years on the battery but I could be mistaken on both... I just know Costco was double the mfg warranty.
I just bought an EGO string trimmer (56V) for use at our cabin. I used it for the first time yesterday, and was thoroughly impressed. The main reason I decided to get it was I was tired of struggling to start our gas trimmers when I have limited time to take care of things on our weekend visits. It had plenty of power, and lasted as long as I'd like to be holding onto it. An added benefit is an auto-loading line system -- only tried it once, but it worked perfectly. Time will tell how reliable it is, but so far so good!
That’s a great use case for electric. I still have all gas at the cabin but have been running 18V trimmer and blower here at home for years because the yard is small. They’ve worked but the batteries barely lasted long enough so I decided why not. I also went all electric on my tools last year and bought a bunch of Dewalt tools and have been equally happy. Mower stuff I thought would make my daughters life easier in her mowing venture this summer. We shall see.
haha... it is lush and green now with all our rain... I definitely was behind the curve with the neighbors... lol - Thanks for watching and commenting!
Getting ready to order this, although I suspect it might be a slightly newer model given how much time has passed. Does the upper handle on yours adjust up or down? The operating manual on Greenworks' site does not specify.
Yes it has two settings in terms of adjustments. If you want to send me an email I can make you a quick video to show you. I use the contact us link on www.hardybrothersoutdoors.com If you happen to order from Amazon please consider using my link. I’ll get a small commission at not cost to you. And yes the new model is practically the same.
if my google search was correct, this was the model offered by Costco? One of my main gripes with Greenworks is the various model and lack of transparency with comparisons... But if that is in fact the model you are inquiring about... Compared to the model I bought direct from Greenworks - the Costco model offers an additional uplift blade, the batteries are shorter and thus lighter weight, and it did not have a dual battery charger but one rapid charger. I now possess two of these mowers, one is the Costco version and i cannot tell the difference between the two mowers... Costco usually also offers a better warranty. Hope that helps!
Finally after waiting a month got correct this model direct from Greenworks. I just put it together seems very good. I try it out this Lawnmower on my next lawn cutting, next week. Greenworks customer service is not good. Friendly people , it took me seven calls , three plus hours of my time, and two attempts to pick up incorrect mower they sent me. Hope Greenworks sees this.
Just bought mine today and I love it. Great results and more than enough power! Also picked up the string trimmer (weed wacker) and the blower. Very pleased with all and more than enough batteries and chargers now. Lawn looks great and I got to say good bye to the landscaper that tbh didn’t do a good job and kept breaking things. Good buy. Highly recommended.
I think the Amazon 80V only has one battery vs 2, so I’m thinking that’s last years model. I saw a number of dual battery ones with lower voltage. At least the last time I checked. Greenworks made it so hard to compare models from various places.
Yep, Costco model has the two battery model and 8 year battery warranty... only difference on what I have is the charger only charges one battery at a time but you can run one battery at a time while the other is charging...
At least you know where the property line is. Where the green grass starts. Good review. I'm still debating on which one (brand). Many seem to be relatively the same. I have a Craftsman and it works great except for worthless batteries. That's one brand I won't buy again. But Ryobi, Milwuakee (too expensive) or Ego? The fact Costco has them is a plus for me. Thanks!
Costco is definitely a plus, their customer service is top notch. I don’t think they are doing the extended battery warranty anymore but not sure. I’ve been super happy with the Greenworks product and have bought the nearly all of the 80v products. More batteries and chargers to go around and little to no maintenance
So have you had any issues with the mower just shutting down and the batteries are fully charged? It beeps but won’t restart. I reinserted the batteries and waited a couple minutes and it restarts.
Yes I have had that happen a few times. Both times I simply removed both batteries and pressed them in firmly and it started back up. I've also had it happen once and I thought maybe there is a sensor on the bag weight, emptied it and it started back up. I've been meaning to open a ticket to see if I can get some answers that I can share via a video.
How is it holding up 2 years after the original post? Are batteries still charging and holding charge? Any deterioration? About to pick this up from Costco. Not sure if they still have to extended coverage on the battery?
We are still loving it. No issues at all. I have about 8 of the 80v tools now and 6 batteries so I rotate usage of batteries and they are all performing great. I’m not sure if Costco still has that deal.
when I put mine together I thought the rubber ring on the handle was to protect the handle insert and I spent 20 minutes trying to find the ring for the other handle. Then realized it was to be taken off an thrown out.
The only thing i question about the battery mowers and tools, is the cost of battery replacement, how long to recharge to finish the job, and disposal of the battery (Is it really recyclable or is it just landfill fodder). Also, I have a greenworks electric (Corded) mower that works great (not self propelled) but the wheels are getting wobbly after 4 years.
All fair questions. I get 90 mins to mow so we don’t ever run out while mowing plus I have extra tools and this extra batteries. Dunno on the land fill or recycle questions.
I bought mine today at Costco. Charged both batteries and gave it a try. After about 2 mins started beeping and turned off. It did this about 4 times. After mowing I checked the batteries and they both showed fully charged. The lawn was mowed a few days ago so it was not long at all.
I had a similar issue but after more use. Take it back… I called Greenworks and they sent me a new one, but it was in fact the 2022 Costco version. I now have both and get an occasional shut off but am not sure why.
Looking at my manual now and it appears there is a blade assembly kit which includes the blade and another component that is between the blade and the motor, so yes it is... the part is R0202444-00 Blade assembly kit... See page 13 and 15 in this online manual - pdf.lowes.com/productdocuments/e20167f8-2308-4875-8cdc-d17213fb676c/45401389.pdf
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors I can imagine it does which is really a neat feature. about a month ago I got the 80v greenworks mower and love it. Didn't know some other models had the light.
MO80L06 from Costco - Is there a secret to turning the head light off. I've read the instructions and still can't figure out how to turn it off during daylight.
Confirming that the light does not shut off... the instructions are confusing as it sounds as if there is a way to turn it off... the way to turn it off is to turn off the mower... LED lights so shouldn't be much power consumption.
Sadly with so many with problems with customer service, some said they spent hours on the phone trying to reach them with no success. and the same to get parts, is more than enough for me. I would buy one if the reviews weren't so so bad. Thank you for the content.
Yeh, I've not seen that but I totally agree, that would make me leery too... If you can buy from Costco they stand behind their purchases and would make it smoother. Let me know what you decide to purchase and how you like it. - Josh
What is the weight on this model I just bought Ryobi all-wheel drive and that thing feels like it weighed a ton... twice heavier than my self-propelled gas lawn mower by Craftsman.. very disappointed
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors Thank you. So the lawnmower has the red key by the battery compartment - is that where it's supposed to go? If so, then I truly don't understand why my mower did not cut any grass because I had the following: blade is on, 2 batteries fully charged, turned on power, engaged the handles and it came on. However, when I moved over grass (I tried lowering the height levels also), nothing happened. Am I missing something? Or could my mower be defective somehow?
Hey great video an review Do you still have the mower and use it? How is the mower and batteries doing after a year? Costco has the same mower for sale, I am considering buying it. Can you post an update. Thanks
Still using it and still love it. My version I got direct from Greenworks would occasionally shut off. I call them and they sent me the Costco version and we’ve had no problems so now I have two. Batteries perform just fine and I now have the snowblower, blower, chainsaw, edger, trimmer, and hedge trimmer. Costco has an extended warranty on the batteries but I’ve never had a battery issue. My 15 year old daughter mowed 4 lawns weekly last year with no problems and my 11 year old son just mowed three lawns this past week. It’s a great mower just a few things to get used to being that it’s rear wheel drive. Here is my other video I did after this first one but I’ll also do an update in a few weeks. Review: Greenworks Pro 80V Self Propelled Mower - 5 Things I Love and 2 That I Don't! ua-cam.com/video/nCJWSealZ1s/v-deo.html
What location did you get it with the dual charger I got mine at Avon, Ohio after the restock the sold out the day the sale started I had to wait 10 days or so...
I bought mine on Greenworks.com early season before they were available at Costco. I've not see the dual charger sold anywhere else and it was out of stock for a while on greenworks.com shortly after I bought.
Hey, Josh, thanks for a great video. Mine arrived today and I already set it up and batteries are charged. My lawn kid will come tomorrow for the last time, except when I'm out of town. I do have a question about the batteries. I bought mine at Costco and the online info on Costco's site does say it comes with two batteries, but it does not say only one of the batteries is lithium. Are both your batteries lithium? If not, how well does the non-lithium battery perform? I ask in case I want to purchase another lithium battery. As a side note, at about 5;25 into your video when you kick it into turbo mode I see it also speeds you up pretty fast. I've never before seen anyone mow so quickly! 🤣
Hello and thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! It is likely that both batteries are lithium, possibly just different print on the battery case. I've not seen any non-lithium batteries with any of the 7 Greenworks tools that I have. Now the big switch that Costco did this year was instead of two 4ah batteries its one 2ah and one 4ah... no clue why they did that. That drops the runtime from ~90 minutes to ~60 minutes. My advice would be that if you like the way the mower performs and are "bought into" electric is to pick up another tool or two with a battery. I have about 6 batteries and I can easily swap between and always have one charging. Here is another review, from my reviews channel, that I did after a few months on what I like and don't like... I will be doing another soon based on a years worth of use - ua-cam.com/video/nCJWSealZ1s/v-deo.html - Yes, turbo surely speeds things up... lol I planted some trees the other day in turbo and only wished I could move that fast all the time... :-) See UA-cam Short here: ua-cam.com/users/shortsC4Fo8EacDRQ?feature=share
Yes I do. I have about 8 tools from them now. Mower, blower, trimmer, edger, hedge trimmer, chainsaw and snow blower and like every one of them very much.
I can do my yard on less than 1 battery I have a vacant lot next door and I can do mine and that on both batteries also got the trimmer kit. Living it all I can cut with 1 hand and no fighting a lawn mover and no back pain. I've cut my grass more that I ever have this far this year LoL Even tried at dark love the headlight. So quiet you can cut at 2am
Haha, yes I agree on all points. My daughter is mowing my yard and our neighbors yard and now the other neighbor wants her to mow. She mows both on one battery. We are also finding the quietness really nice. I have gone to check on her a few times because I hadn't heard her mowing in for a while and she was mowing away. Its quieter than our vacuum cleaner.
What is your opinion on the weight of the mower? With the batteries in the machine is it really that much lighter than a gas mower? I almost bought one recently but concerned one 4ah battery wouldn’t be enough. Typically how much runtime do you get with the self propelled?
So this mower has two batteries. The one I got has two 4ah batteries and runtime is 90 minutes. I cut two suburban lawns with deep grass, running the turbo, and ran self propel about 50-60% of the time. I noticed for some reason the new Costco version has a 4 and a 2ah battery. No idea why they did that. Frankly I think Greenworks is a mess when it comes to the versioning and packaging of their products. Nothing seems to make sense why they do stuff. That said I’m happy with the mower, the weight is lighter than my Toro personal pace that I replaced but not so light that it negatively impacts cut quality. Being that it’s self propelled the weight is somewhat irrelevant to me. Hope that helps. If you have more questions fire away and I’ll do my best to answer.
So I bought on Greenworks.com and they had a 25% off sale around St Patrick's Day... The model I have is not shown there now, it was sold out last I checked... Mine has the two 4 AH batteries and dual rapid charger. (Model MO80L06 or MO80L411) It appears on their site right now they only have the dual 2.5AH batteries with the dual rapid charger ( ibit.ly/ZSse ). Costco has the exact one I have but only has a single port rapid charger. They offer 2x the 4 year battery warranty which is pretty good, but the dual charger is really nice. Charge time is around 45 mins on the 4AH batteries. It seems Greenworks isn't keeping up with demand very well at the moment... Good luck with your search!
Yes very. I have since bought a trimmer, blower; chainsaw, edger, hedge trimmer and my snow blower just arrived… my daughter used it all summer to mow 4 lawns per week and she is also quite happy with it.
@@GA08GT478 I agree, my reviews were early season but we have used it quite a bit and are very happy. You can barely hear them running to which is nice. Here is the other review I did after a few uses - ua-cam.com/video/nCJWSealZ1s/v-deo.html
I have a question about battery storage. I’m keeping my lawn mower in an outdoor shed, but I think it’ll be way too hot for battery storage. I was thinking my garage, which is not as hot as my shed. I’m not sure about keeping them in my house. Thoughts?
I seem to recall something about this in the manual because I have the exact challenge. I’ll check the manual again tonight. If you happen to find an answer sooner let me know.
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors yep, the manual says “ do not place the battery pack in the sun or in a warm environment. Keep at normal room temperature. Keep in shady cool and dry condition.”
Ugh, after only one day, the charger no longer works. No fan or lights. I’ve tested it on several outlets and verified that other electrical appliances work in those outlets. I’ve tried several customer support numbers for greenworks and they immediately disconnected. I’ll keep trying support. I may have to return the whole package to Costco ☹️
Ugh, just seeing this Scott... did you get it resolved? I'm on with support now and had a call back within 10 minutes but will see how the resolution goes...
Just bought today from costco. 100 bucks off, only a single port battery charger. Do both batteries have to be in to run mower? How do you get the self propelled to work…..your mower was started and I couldn’t hear what you said.
You can use with just one battery installed. There are two handles. I think the gray you hold to start and the other engages the self propel and there is a speed adjustment. It’s pretty easy.
Hahaha. Only when trains and delivery trucks go fully electric. Are you still burning oil lamps in your house to protect them? Believe it or not, I'm pro "Drill Baby Drill"
If you are going forward then stop, then have to manually pull the mower backwards the wheels lock up and you have to wait about 4 seconds before you can pull it backwards.
Yep, I have a 2nd video on my reviews channel, 5 Things I Love and 2 That I Don't!, that speaks to this inconvenience as well... ua-cam.com/video/nCJWSealZ1s/v-deo.htmlsi=zvV45fqESu06xqI1
I called them out in this second video that I did as it is ridiculous. The model at Costco has the 2 4ah batteries but single charger. Review: Greenworks Pro 80V Self Propelled Mower - 5 Things I Love and 2 That I Don't! ua-cam.com/video/nCJWSealZ1s/v-deo.html
I’ve heard that from a few others but have not dug in or researched a way to slow it down. I know mine is good on slow but there is minimal fine tuning between slow and fast. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
yeh that is the new version, prior one had two 4ah batteries... No clue why Greenworks started doing that, maybe to lower the price or maybe they had feedback that folks didn't need a full 90 mins in most situations.
I bought mine this past week and I think my self-propel is acting funny. From 0% to 95% on the "speed adjustment" the mower hardly moves but when I increase it to 96%, then the mower shoots forward really fast. Almost no ability to fine tune the self propel speed. Is yours like this too?
Mine has more adjustability range I feel. What has been weird for me is the 1-1.5 second delay for take off and let off. Like I’d you want to turn around the back wheels are locked for a second or so after letting off the self propel. It’s gonna take some time getting use to it. You may want to check with them to see if there is an adjustment.
It seems to be self propelled. Front or rear wheeled? Can you adjust speed, if so how? I am thinking an electric would be good for me where the zero turn doesn't go. I use a string trimmer now but a self propelled electric mower would be more effective on my pond dam if it can hold going sideways on a pretty steep hill. Can you show that?
Rear wheel driven self propelled and has a speed adjustment right on the handle. Pretty pleased with it so far. I think it would hold on a pond bank. Since this one is at home in the burbs I don’t have a way to show it in a steep bank.
Presumably, I will attempt to purchase through Costco, I am not a member, or purchase through different outlets that provide my Military Discount for the best savings. I would be interested in roller bearing wheels? Likewise, I would be interested in the highest ah battery. I believe the Greenworks has a 5.0 ah? I would want the 2022 model? Is the push compared to the self propelled any significant difference in operating and price? I subscribed! Thanks for the video.
Not sure on the wheels... There is a 5.0ah battery and I think Greenworks.com has a model that uses it. Best bet is finding a bundle deal vs buying the batteries separately... The one I have has two 4ah and a runtime of 90 minutes... not sure how much you get with the 5ah. I believe the chargers are all interchangeable within the same voltage class. The self propel has a pretty good speed on it, top end is almost too much but i'm using it on the backyard hill and have to throttle down otherwise its a brisk walk... haha. Pricing and model years are hard to compare across the various retailers... Costco, Lowes, TSC, and Amazon all carry products in addition to the Greenworks.com site. Greenworks will give 10% for signing up for their email but I am not sure about military discount. It's really difficult to compare across the various offers. Thanks for the sub, we hope you enjoy our other videos too and THANK YOU for your service!
@@donaldlee6699 I thought so too, initially... but the single port charger vs. the double charger I got is pretty cool. I do think based on the number of years that I keep a mower it is a huge benefit though. Good luck with your purchase, I hope you like it as much as I do.
Purchased from Greenworks, I wish they gave me one for free... Purchased on March 22nd and received 25% off as part of a St. Patricks Day sale... Still came out close to what the price was for the Costco version but Costco gives an 8 year warranty on the batteries and mine only has the standard 4 years... I also got this dual charger which apparently hasn't been available much. I made this follow up video where I criticized their confusing website and model comparison clarity... This one I posted to our reviews channel here: ua-cam.com/video/nCJWSealZ1s/v-deo.html (Review: Greenworks Pro 80V Self Propelled Mower - 5 Things I Love and 2 That I Don't!) - Thanks for watching and commenting! - Josh
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors Technically, that 8-year battery warranty promotion is a Greenworks promotion, not a Costco promotion. The warranty is with Greenworks, not with Costco. Costco has an exclusive to offer it.
what i found is the rear wheel self propulsion caused the mower to bounce a bit if you go too fast vs. a front wheel drive version... we haven't had much missed once we slowed it down some...
I was hoping this video would show me how to put the model MO80L510 together. But this mower is different. I tried to understand the instructions for assembly and it looks like I am out of luck. Confusing. Looks like I try to get some of my money back by putting it on facebook marketplace. If you know how it is easy. If you don't know how you're dead.
There was another video for a greenworks pro close to the model I bought. Your video was for a better model. The other video and some trial and error got the thing together and usable. Thanks for your reply and concern.@@HardyBrothersOutdoors
Update I purchased this model directly from Greenworks Online. They sent the wrong mower to me three weeks. I called them, four times over the course of two weeks, taking over three hours of my time waiting to talk and getting them to tell me they are very busy . I am still waiting for the correct mower to be sent. They pick up the incorrect mower last Friday. Customer Service so far has not been good at all no sense of urgency. Hopefully mower will be good when ever I receive it. Maybe this week for Deliver?
Ugh! Sorry to hear that. I have to admit my ordering process with them wasn’t stellar either. No errors but lacking basic confirmations and emails. I forgot to mention that here as I was happy with that mower. My 2nd video posted to our other page talked about the screwy process of trying to identify the latest greatest model. Hopefully it turns out well for you in the end.
Thanks I appreciate it. This past Friday Greenworks had Federal Express pick up incorrect mower. Good , However it was returned to me by Federal express because Greenworks provided no new return labels. I spoke to Federal Express driver , great guy and now hopeful it will be going back to Greenworks. Still waiting on correct mower to show up on order from June 1. I do not think I will ever buy direct from them again.
Move over lithium ion battery operated push lawn mowers. Milwaukee M18 FUEL Self-Propelled Dual Battery Cordless Lawn Mower Kit-21 in.Deck, Incluses Two 12.0 Ah Battery Packs and M18 Dual Bay Rapid Charger, Model# 2823-22HD. Most likely I will never be satisfied with nothing less than the Milwaukee. Competition will be fierce! As of now I believe the Milwaukee is the most powerful? I will be concerned about their warranty and the tools available? Thanks for the video.
I'm a fan of Milwaukee tools as well but they do surely fetch a premium price. That mower is nearly double in price but looks pretty nice... I was just telling my brother Jason that Lithium ion battery proliferation is going to be a problem and at some point there will need to be some sort of standardization or we will have tons of chargers and batteries laying around. For now batteries are a key area of differentiation but at some point they will need to converge in terms of compatibility.
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors And with all that being said you took the words right out of my mouth. What that will amount to: Competition! Competition is great! There are probably (3), three, or, (4) manufacturers that are in the lead at this time? They will most likely to some extent abandon their platform that falls woefully short of the Milwaukee 12 a h. Have you watched any videos on the Milwaukee? I believe that thing could mow weeds (4) four feet tall. With absolutely no problem. Milwaukee never has took second place to none! Before the end of the season stay tuned! I believe the competition will be fierce!
@@donaldlee6699 as we say with our tractor reviews, depends on your use case… if I never need to mow 4 ft weeds then I have to question the extra $$$… but I’m some cases I love having the best just to have the best. Lol. It will be interesting to see how things play out for sure.
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors Regretfully, I am looking at very high weeds! My 5 horse power always got me out of these situations before. Can you believe that 5 horse power '21 inch' could go through 4 foot high grass! A sharp blade and the fact it had '21' inch I never bogged it down! Now, I am setting here waiting to bite the bullet! Electric, or gas! And needless to say! Rain, rain, and more rain! My deck is tore up on the gas and the price of gas and oil shows it will continue as the rain increases the rate of the growth of the grass! I was going to purchase the 10. a h. Ego until I noticed the 12 a h Milwaukee! What a dilemma! lol
Yes I was surprised at how loud it came across in the video. It’s definitely quieter than a gas powered mower. I’ll see if I can test the decibels for comparison.
Okay, so my Decibel meter arrived and I just tested it out... Normal operation is about 80 db and a normal conversation is said to be 60db. When i turned it up to the Turbo setting it hit 83.7db... Here is what I found about suggested ear plugs - Long and or repeated exposure to sounds above 85 decibels can cause hearing loss. The higher the decibel level, the shorter the time it takes for hearing loss to occur. It is recommended that for those sounds above 85 decibels, ear plugs should be worn. So based on this, at normal operation you should be good to go w/out hearing protection.
@@jfraz6246 This is my first electric mower and I've been happy with it. My kids mow up to 4 yards with it and it has done well. I did have one issue where my first one was shutting off periodically and I called Greenworks. They sent me a 2nd one which is the Costco version (Last years model with the dual 4AH batteries and lift blade) so now we have 2 mowers and 4 batteries... I have added the blower, string trimmer, hedge trimmer, edger, chainsaw, and snowblower... Just used the chainsaw yesterday... Great grab and go saw for our country weekend property
It very may... not sure I'd say the switch is a savings at this time but I do really like the mower and am finding myself annoyed with the neighbors noisy gas powered equipment... hahaha... I've become "that guy" :-)
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors I'm thinking it will be a government forced necessity in the next 10 years or less. Gas will be for commercial accounts or legit lawn care companies with commercial accounts only.
@@airinbone looked at these all weekend and I like this one.... but for anyone concerned about gas and the environment can you just imagine all those batteries piling up in our city dumps and acid going into our water supply.
Don’t buy it, I bought one and full charge kept dying after 17 mins then of course it wouldn’t let me charge the battery for over a hour because the battery was to hot so it took 3 days to cut just my back yard which isn’t even that big

A few things to get used to.
I just bought this exact same mower from Costco today and so far I love it. What’s interesting is mine only came with a battery charger that works with one battery at a time, not two at the same time. I think I’m really gonna enjoy this mower. Thanks for the video.
Bought mine Wednesday from Costco. Just unboxed it today and it only has the single port battery charger as well. Bummer.
@@ALnMO indeed ☹️
I’m just learning this now from a few of the comments. I bought from Greenworks directly and got 25% off for a St Patrick’s deal… priced ended up $30 higher than what Costco deal is now but Costco has doubled the battery life warranty from 4 to 8 years. The double charger is definitely a plus however. The good news is the mower will run with only one battery installed. I pulled one the other day while my daughter was mowing and put it on the charger and she kept going.
Just bought mine at Costco on Saturday! Love it!
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors Not a big deal for me. I just plug in the second battery while I'm mowing - *if* my battery runs out, I have the other one charged up.
Great buy, I bought a 16 inch 40 volt 4 years ago and still running like it's new.
So far very happy with it. Glad to hear the brand has done well for you. This is my first Greenworks purchase.
Wow good to know this. I have a blower and weed eater and the quality is very good!
Is the handlebar height adjustable for people of differing heights?
It has two height adjustments... The mower has worked well for me, my 12 year old son, and my 17 year old daughter...
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors Great. Thanks for the quick reply!
Bought my Greenworks 80v mower from Costco. Took twenty minutes to charge first battery. My first time mowing I ran mower on one battery. By time I finished mowing the 2nd battery was charged. My mowing life has been radically changed for the better.
I too am a believer! I have the mower, blower, trimmer, edger, chainsaw, snow blower and hedge trimmer. Zero regrets.
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors I have battery operated trimmer and edger by Craftsman. I also own a Craftsman electric chainshow that uses a cord. I bought it for $30. Helluva price and it meets my simple needs.
Thanks for showing how to unfold the handles. Mine from Costco came without an owner's manual, and I couldn't figure out that first little step!
Glad to assist!
Lol
Okay, excellent. This answered all my questions. Thank you!
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors That's awesome. cant wait to see more reviews.
I was loving this mower till now. One of my batteries keeps draining super fast and the other is still fully charged.
I'm thinking of getting this from Costco since they are offering 8 years warranty on batteries. That is huge for these electric lawn equipment
Yes that is a great offer and the Costco version actually comes with an extra mulching blade too. It’s a great mower.
I love how he points put 'don't judge me'...but in all honesty I was actually thinking 'hey, his yard looks like mine' :)
haha... it is lush and green now with all our rain...
I use the contact us link on www.hardybrothersoutdoors.com
If you happen to order from Amazon please consider using my link. I’ll get a small commission at not cost to you. And yes the new model is practically the same.
What is the real difference with the 22" one model# 2548102?
if my google search was correct, this was the model offered by Costco? One of my main gripes with Greenworks is the various model and lack of transparency with comparisons... But if that is in fact the model you are inquiring about... Compared to the model I bought direct from Greenworks - the Costco model offers an additional uplift blade, the batteries are shorter and thus lighter weight, and it did not have a dual battery charger but one rapid charger. I now possess two of these mowers, one is the Costco version and i cannot tell the difference between the two mowers... Costco usually also offers a better warranty. Hope that helps!
Hey nice video You are a lucky one to get that charger in the purchase.
Thanks Joseph. Seems it may have only been offered on Greenworks.com. It’s definitely a nice feature.
Thanks for sharing, I hope they see it too! I love the product, sad to hear that the after the sale service has not be great.
Totally agree! Excellent power and I also got the blower and trimmer... Like them all.
Just got mine from cosco. thank you for this video
Let me know what you think. Here is my other video that was made a month or so later. ua-cam.com/video/nCJWSealZ1s/v-deo.html
Still thinking about getting it. I really appreciate you doing this video. Amazon has it on occasions for $399. I might get it then.
I think the Amazon 80V only has one battery vs 2, so I’m thinking that’s last years model. I saw a number of dual battery ones with lower voltage. At least the last time I checked. Greenworks made it so hard to compare models from various places.
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors thanks, Costco has a better model of Greenworks currently on their website.
Nothing is easy anymore... lol
Maybe also check to make sure the batteries are seated and tight.
I've had no more issues with this lawn mower, worked great today.
@@robertmanning4882 glad to hear that!
is the round coaster between the blade and engine underneath the deck replaceable?

can you pull it backwards instead of turning round every run?
Yes you just have to let up on the self propel for about 3 seconds for it to disengage
Can you mulch with it? Can you use side discharge or do you have to use the bag?
Yes it has a side discharge shoot, mulching and bagging options.

Don’t have the weight too of mind but it’s very lightweight. Much lighter than my prior gas model. My 11 year old son handles it well.
Thank you. I couldn't quite hear what you said about the use of the key. What is it for, please?
It will not start without the key. It’s a safety feature to prevent someone from accidentally starting it.
Is it alright to force the cables into the handle? They seem pretty stiff. I don't like to force anything. Thanks.
Yep, that felt a little off to me too, but i didn't get any pinching or issues. Sorry for the delayed reply.

:-) See UA-cam Short here:
ua-cam.com/users/shortsC4Fo8EacDRQ?feature=share
You just sold me on these. I’m going to pick one up tomorrow. Do you recommend getting the trimmer and blower combo as well?
I've cut my grass more that I ever have this far this year LoL
Even tried at dark love the headlight.
Can you let me know what model number of your mower? I’m looking for the 80V with that turbo button, but can’t find one.
I’m cross shopping this with the EGO 2156. Are you still happy with it?
Yes very. I have since bought a trimmer, blower; chainsaw, edger, hedge trimmer and my snow blower just arrived… my daughter used it all summer to mow 4 lawns per week and she is also quite happy with it.
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors Thanks for the reply. These mowers aren’t cheap and it helps to hear from real owners.
Thanks !
Ugh, just seeing this Scott... did you get it resolved? I'm on with support now and had a call back within 10 minutes but will see how the resolution goes...
Metal blade right?
Correct
Just bought today from costco. 100 bucks off, only a single port battery charger. Do both batteries have to be in to run mower? How do you get the self propelled to work…..your mower was started and I couldn’t hear what you said.
You can use with just one battery installed. There are two handles. I think the gray you hold to start and the other engages the self propel and there is a speed adjustment. It’s pretty easy.
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors thank you. Yes, right after I asked you I figured it out. I really like the mower.
Does it hurt the oil workers and oil executive when you buy electric?
Hahaha. Only when trains and delivery trucks go fully electric. Are you still burning oil lamps in your house to protect them? Believe it or not, I'm pro "Drill Baby Drill"
I have read that electric lawn mowers work well on long blade grass but not as well on short grass as is common here in Southern CA.
Haven’t heard that… did they say why? Blade speed maybe?
If you are going forward then stop, then have to manually pull the mower backwards the wheels lock up and you have to wait about 4 seconds before you can pull it backwards.

Greenworks Pro 80V Self Propelled Mower - 5 Things I Love and 2 That I Don't!
ua-cam.com/video/nCJWSealZ1s/v-deo.html
Hello sir. I bought an Amazon model that was too fast on the slow position, can this self propel at a slower rate for us older folks? Thanks
I’ve heard that from a few others but have not dug in or researched a way to slow it down. I know mine is good on slow but there is minimal fine tuning between slow and fast. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
Bought my 80 v pro at Costco and they included a 2 ah and 4 ah battery. Very sneaky. Just to save themselves a few bucks.
yeh that is the new version, prior one had two 4ah batteries...
Nice
Thanks
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors Costco is stating out of stock? The additional battery warranty is a game changer.
@@donaldlee6699 I thought so too, initially... but the single port charger vs. the double charger I got is pretty cool. I do think based on the number of years that I keep a mower it is a huge benefit though. Good luck with your purchase, I hope you like it as much as I do.
Was it actually purchased directly from Greenworks, or did they ship you one free to review it?
@@iSiberianHusky cool. Wasn’t sure of the details since I don’t have the Costco version.
The Costco greenworks 80v mower - It will miss cutting some grass blades here and there. Even using the turbo button.
what i found is the rear wheel self propulsion caused the mower to bounce a bit if you go too fast vs. a front wheel drive version... we haven't had much missed once we slowed it down some...
Sorry this wasn't helpful in your situation. Wish you luck in figuring it out. Have you called their support line?
There was another video for a greenworks pro close to the model I bought. Your video was for a better model. The other video and some trial and error got the thing together and usable. Thanks for your reply and concern.@@HardyBrothersOutdoors
Oh, the 80V battery has four status LEDs, like the 60V? That would be great: It used to have only three.
Yep and auto failover from one battery to the other. Hoping it turns out to be a great purchase.
What a dilemma! lol
It sounds really loud in the video. Maybe its better in person? Would be nice if you don't need earplugs to run it.
I found out the hard way why the trimmer has a 2 Amp battery - it's lighter...
Lol, yes it does make a difference on the trimmer and blower for sure.
Costco really downgraded this kit this year. 1 4AH and 1 2.5AH battery, and not a dual charger
No dual charger last year either but yes on the batteries. My dual charger came direct from Greenworks but they stopped shipping it right away too.
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors what would you rate that 80v is, compared to a gas mower? 140-160cc?
@@jfraz6246 Greenworks claims 160cc… it gets the job done. Happy with mine and I’ve added 7 other tools so have plenty of batteries
@@HardyBrothersOutdoors nice. I have ryobis 40v mower/trimmer/edger for the last 5 years, saw this at Costco and thought about chsnging
Great grab and go saw for our country weekend property
they took $100 off the price. got it just in time
Me too... 25% off deal on Greenworks.com helped me make the jump to electric!
The day will come when gas is too expensive or unavailable so better switch quick.
Don’t buy it, I bought one and full charge kept dying after 17 mins then of course it wouldn’t let me charge the battery for over a hour because the battery was to hot so it took 3 days to cut just my back yard which isn’t even that big
lol sorry to hear that. I hope you took it back. I’ve not had any issues after 2 years.
