That farewell by the first Doctor always brings tears to my eyes. Would also have been great to replay it just before Christopher Eccleston's first episode...
It would've been better if they'd stopped Dr Who after Matt Smith (best modern doctor in my opinion, liked Ecclestone too, Tennant was good but annoying at times). I haven't watched it since then, from what I've heard I haven't missed much.
It's a lovely story, but sadly not so. The Hartnoll brothers (Orbital) aren't related to William Hartnell (the first Dr Who) in anyway. They're just fans of the show. But I was at this gig and even though we were all stood ankle deep in freezing mud being soaked to the skin by the non-stop rain of that Glastonbury, it was still a blast to be there! But God! Was I glad to go home afterwards!
*laughs* I woulda paid damn good money to see a dalek being crowd surfed :P Though that woulda been one hell of a trip I admit.. especailly if the crowd started chanting "EX-TER-MIN-ATE!"
You couldnt be more wrong, compare this to a studio version..its clear its being performed live. Orbital are famous for live improvising during their gigs. While one does his bez impresion you can be sure the other is working his ass off. On another note it really is amazing how the amen break takes any electro track to the next level.
I've been looking for this live mix ...used to have the MP3 for it ... with the vocal samples at the beginning .... please fix !? 10 secs is not enough !
Same. Mine had this clip at the start: VICTORIA: What are all these knobs? DOCTOR: What, these? JAMIE: Instruments. These are for controlling our flight. VICTORIA: Flight? JAMIE: Well, yes. You see, we travel around in here through time and space. DOCTOR: Oh no, no, no, no. Don't laugh. It's true.
so i take it when they hit "start" that also controls the mixing console and all the analog controls on thier machines like the 909 808 303 moogs dauntlessmath you are clueless
Even if they do just press start on a thing, they still have to be VERY familiar with the synthesizers that they're using. No random yahoo can come up with something like this off the top of their heads. My friend has a Roland SH-201, and it's no easy keyboard to manipulate. To get a keyboard to the exact settings you want it to be at still takes a lot of talent.
I'm always interested when people break out the old "they just press start" argument about orbital and other dance acts. Do you say they fake it because music like this cannot be performed "live", or they fake it because why WOULD they do it when you could just press start and dance around like a wanker, pretending to swing out of the mixing desk? I was at this gig. Best fun in the fucking world, real or fake. But Phil was a bit OTT with the grooving, possibly he was drunk or high!
17 years has come and past so swiftly
This song gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Truly awesome

A Tardis floating over the crowd? (Craned into place)
the program was first made in 1963 and the tune did sound very similar.. just without all the beats and stuff

It’s on the live at Glastonbury album
Sleaford Mods draw heavily on the Hartnolls' presentation style... ;)

You ever find them my friend
@@grandtheftlosautos596 Alas, no. Still. the 21st century has taught me it's all about those new LED glasses so all's well that ends well.
