  • I'm a radio host who lives a pretty normal life. I love the outdoors and have enjoyed my share of the sun. I have also enjoyed the tanning bed a couple months out of the year, never really thinking it was that dangerous. Until now. This video is simply my story and my attempt to help people be more aware of skin cancer and what to watch for. Since I put my story out on social media, I've been getting a ton of questions and messages from people who just didn't know what to look for or what cancer might look like on the skin. Maybe by sharing what has happened to me, somebody will catch their skin. Cancer early and it might just save a life! I'm giving God The Glory in my case, he gave me the spiritual urging to go and get my spot checked. God is good and I am blessed.
Please like and share my video with your friends and family! It might just save their life! Make sure to subscribe to my channel too!

I'm doing good. I just went for my 6 month check up and they removed two places that were pre cancer but not yet developed... praise God. But thankyou so much for asking!

I have been diagnosed with Basal Cell Carcinoma twice. One was behind my right ear and the other on the right side of my nose.I have to go on July 13 because I have a mole that looked like a pimple several months back but it just never went away.My general doctor told me he thinks it is another Cancer. The horrible thing I have learned about Skin Cancer it's not like u get one time and u r ok this is my 3rd one for goodness sake.My skin doc told me if your going to have cancer then U want Basal Cell Carcinoma(the kind I have) but it's not very comforting when I keep getting them all over my head.I am very glad your Melanoma was insitu.Thank u for doing this video I will circle my spots as well because I have a few more I need to have looked at as well.

This was such an important video! I hear so many UA-cam influencers talk about skincare and they use sunscreen on their face, fake tan on their body to start with then don't use sunscreen on their bodies and lay out all Summer. While really pushing facial skincare and devices. Fake tan their face, but think their bodies are immune. I've had two basal cell carcinomas. One on my chest and one on my nostril that required 5 surgeries. They didn't show up until my early forties, and I was slathering sunscreen by then & wearing protective clothing & hats. Staying out of the sun during the hottest part of the day. Plus use sunscreen rain or shine. These were caused by sunbathing during my teens and I didn't do it often, because I am so fair & I always burned & didn't enjoy the pain, but it only took those few times. Also influencers please don't say you're not wearing sunscreen, because it's a cloudy day. The rays still penetrate through those clouds.
If this helps you, I had scar revision surgery once I healed. I started out with Jäsons skin oil and silicone patches. My scar on my chest is barely noticeable and my nose you can hardly tell. I had a fantastic Plastic Surgeon. I wish you goid health and a quick recovery. Thank you for sharing your story!

Fact: 1 single time in the tanning bed increases your risk by 💥 75% 💥. If you have breast cancer or ovarian cancer in your close family, that increases your risk by 50% because it’s the same gene mutation that causes them. So NO ONE should think they’re not at risk. If your skin has ever seen the sun, the chance is there. I’m dealing with Melanoma now and getting ready for surgery next week. Mine had all of the ABDDEs. I have other spots being checked also. If I’m clear after surgery and no other spots, I have to go for full body skin checks every 3 months for the next 5 years and every 6 months for the rest of my life. PLEASE stay out of tanning beds. It’s not worth your life.

Man, that is too bad. I hope you are doing o.k. there are so many self tanning creams that look great and are not a harm to the body, no one should use tanning beds anymore.

Sorry about your diagnosis, hope everything works out and your surgery went well. I have a BRCA 1 positive gene mutation, there's no association with a higher risk of melanoma or other skin cancers, just breast and ovarian there is. x

I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma at stage 3 B. I had multiple surgeries at the beginning of my journey. I then did a year of interferon treatments which I don’t wish upon anyone. My melanoma was modular melanoma and the first time I became concerned when the flesh colored spot started growing I was told by a dr it was not concerning because it was flesh colored. I wish I had known then what I know now. I would have insisted they remove it and biopsy it. That’s why I was already advanced stage when I was diagnosed. I was on the shy side and would not speak up for myself back then. I do now. I also see my dermatologist every 3-6 months or sooner if I notice anything. They don’t mess around once you have had melanoma. I have regular scans etc even though it has been 15 years now. Since my original diagnosis I have had multiple tumors removed all melanoma. Thank you for doing this video bringing attention to melanoma

Instead of 'tanning bed' it should be called an 'Easy Bake Oven.' In the 1960s, beachgoers would coat themselves with butter to get to the perfect tan. They were the literally cooking themselves.

I just got a membership at the tanning bed today now I'm scared to go back! I hope I can get a refund for my s/o's sake lol. I used to go daily a long time ago for several months and was going to just start back. Omg I'd rather just be ugly and white than have to worry about this one day 🥺

Just because you tan doesn't mean you'll get cancer! I tan everyday for 11 years and i stopped because i got pregnant but it's been 2 years and I haven't gotten anything
