Ryanair would charge for an extra passenger!
Rata 4U u understand humor?
@Rata 4U You need to find your sense of humour
Rata 4U
R/woooooooooosh
So would Spirit. Plus extra for diversion, ambulance at airport, etc.
@Rata 4U ok boomer
"we need a ambulance upon our arrival". Strong accent, but can definitely be understood.
it's totally audible...
@@IT9GameLog slavic accent of english...
As for me accent is normally, but I’m Russian pilot😂
Yes, I heard that too - I wonder if it's more a case if the software that listens to the transcript and then types up what was being communicated got it as inaudible. Cos generally its not a human doing that anymore.
Yes very sexy - very dreamy - very absorbing
Strange that everybody complains the about the Russian accent. For example, for me as a German native speaker Russians speaking English with thick accent are mostly pretty easy to understand. Funny, isn't it? :)
Same here. Like I know a guy who barely even has a Russian accent and I can understand him perfectly. But the native English speakers I know insist he has a "thick accent" and that he is difficult to understand. I think people who have English as a native language get used to being able to understand words without thinking about it. So they don't know how to handle something that sounds a bit different because they never had to consciously learn the language.
Once I got my ear "trained" to listen to him, he wasn't all that hard to understand. I speak three languages, though, although not well enough to not have to "translate" in my head as I go along, but I think once you've trained your mind how to switch back and forth, it's easier to hear in another accent, if you know what I mean.
Native spanish speaker (Latin american, unlike VAS Himself, who is spanish) and I can undertand those guys perfectly
I am a Russian native speaker and German accent is the most understandable for.But I have to strain to understand americans.
I can get used to an accent, it's the lack of comprehension that bothers me.
For all those who ask, under the International Rights, the baby will have the airline operator nationality if he is born on board the aircraft.
Wow. Well my apologies! :)
+VASAviation - Just out of interest, does it matter where the aircraft itself is registered, or just the HQ of the company?
+Finlay Cox Well, I'd say where the airline that operates the aircraft is registered.
VASAviation -
Cheers :)
Does that means the baby is Russian?
You have to give kudos to Kennedy ATC personnel, two emergencies at once in one of the busiest airports on the globe, and I've see people working at donuts joints getting more nervous than these folks.
They have to be calm while giving instructions to the pilot because they know what kind of pressure the pilot is under. Their voice shouldn't bring out any tension they are under. This is the reason they are paid so high. Handling such pressure takes a toll on their body - psychologically and physically. Many ATC officials face too much anxiety and stress. Many of them take pills to keep their nerves calm.
yes
How many souls on board... +1 haha
Gives new meaning to "Clearance delivery"
Ryan Hampson ... hee hee ... & the baby was a "HEAVY" ?? 😕
did she ask for a delivery clearance?
“Aeroflot 151, cleared to birth, via the PREGR1 departure....”
Ook! [How many Aeroflot airplanes were over there having a baby on board? 151, 105, 101, 150....]
+TheLibrarianUU One pair of nervous pilots.
Oh, come on! I used to be FA. At some point you can just completely forget your flight number, destination, arrival time. There are too many flights you do monthly.
+TheLibrarianUU Just like the ATC who cannot choose the point they should pcoceed direct to))) WUGAL, ZALPO or CAPIT
+Крис Кристоферсон, That was disappointing to hear.
+TheLibrarianUU The pilot mistaken his flight number for Aeroflot 101 just after he was directed to JFK. Incidentally 101 is flight number for their moscow-jfk route.
If the pilot doesn't understand "age" on the 10th attempt, ATC could just rephrase with "how old is she?"
the ''break'' sequence at 4:35 is really impressive!
roswell return Indeed!
That part literally turned me on! 😂
right! I was like, man he's on fire!
1:13 "ambulance" If the pilot does not understand the phrase "age of the female" maybe try saying "how old is the female?" instead of repeating the same phrase unsuccessfully three/four times
ali xena but that's not good when pilots don't understand simple phrases.
*sigh, but, what are you going to do at the time? You can get all hot under the collar that the pilot is not understanding you, or you can try something different. Only an idiot will try the same thing three times and expect a different result the third time.
Its a strange choice of phrase, unlikely to be understood by someone whose first language is not English, When did you last someone for "the age of the female"? The usual phrase is "how old is she?" Give the guy a break, he is doing an excellent job handling a medical emergency in his second language! Could you do that?
I was on a tower crane once and although the guys spoke the same language natively, due to noise and interference they often had to repeat the same command. But you could never hear the same phrase twice, they always used different words. Human brain is quite capable of understanding mumbled speech when you use enough synonyms.
The whole planet does not speak only english.
American controllers need to understand this guys English is really limited if it's outside of aviation related conversation, trying asking the age for 3 times and not getting respond, you should start asking "How old is the woman"
+Garik skyhawk If you put your ass in the front seat of an airliner that flies outside your home soil, you better be able to speak proper English and don't just regurgitate phrases like "Aeroflot xxx, passing FLYYY, with information A". Although I don't want to pick on the crew, this was a shitty situation, and there was probably mayhem in the cabin.
+Courier6 I totally agree with you, they're required to pass level 4 English in Russia but I don't know how much is level 4.
I speak Russian and I talk to this guys sometimes here in LAX even have some friends and hangout with them when they're in LA , they can't keep basic conversation outside airport, but Transaero Pilots, another Russian airline had higher standards and those guys had much better English. Aeroflot is the worst English speaking airlines a think, even Asian pilot's speak better English )))
Garik skyhawk
I heard Aeroflot pilots who spoke English quite well - still strong accent, but fluently and well to understand, so, don't know if Aeroflot really is the worst :) I just can't get it why one wouldn't put a bit effort into learning the language (in this case English) at least to a level that allows me to communicate well in a situation like this - and the vocabulary used here was really not complicated. I acknowledge that for Russians learning English might be harder than for us Germans, but again, this can be asked from someone who wants to play with a stick while hurdling through the skies at almost the speed of sound. But this problem is omnipresent in the world, here in Europe - so I hear at least - Spain and Italy's ATC speak English horribly. Although, what really bugs me, is, that there is no only IFR language. So if you don't speak Arabic (and who wants to learn that) you are not able to monitor all radio traffic at DXB which any IFR pilot should do. I think that should be fixed in the future. One universal language, and no special treatment for certain countries. Although with countries like China unlikely to be very cooperative, this will remain my wet fantasy for some time, I guess.
It isn’t about “he’s Russian and doesn’t speak English” captains and copilots aren’t given information regarding the passengers like that. Heck, most of the time they don’t know how many are on board until their is an emergency. They have to ask a flight attendant and they have to go back and ask the passenger or reference a sheet of paper.
I have often heard this with the US controllers. It's as if they don't understand anything that is not pure American English. I'm from Sweden and has no issues with understanding the pilot here.
The baby will have an interesting story to tell his/her mates when it grows up. "Guess where I was born.. I don't know myself, somewhere in midair!"
People will do anything for American citizenship
@@pilotchris07 why that? I don't get it that, sorry. Haha
@@jukaamira8275 the child nationality is the same of the registration of the plane, so may be United States
@@sinenomis it's an aeroflot plane so it's Russian.
I like that the pilot clarifies that the passenger is female before saying that she's 38 years old.
OFfic3R1K so a pregnant human would be better 😂 nowadays you never know
Ha-ha! Watch "Junior" movie with Arnie (1994)
Trans inclusivity from a place you would never expect.
@@eliorahg hahahahahahahahahahahahah,
He was just trying to give context to the age (saying just "38" would've been ambiguous as they have long since switched topics), and judging by the effort he put to speak that word, and the previous communications where he couldn't understand what the ATC was asking, it may have had to do with mental overload under stress. Unlike English, in Russian the words for gender have the same root as the words for man and woman. Мужчина, женщина (man, woman) and мужской, женский (male, female), and we don't use genders to address or describe persons, we always use words for man and woman. I.e. he might as well just have said "woman" (as that is literally what you would say in Russian), but could've stumbled on the fact the ATC repeatedly used the word "female", which might've given some pause on what word to say. Hypothetically. In a normal conversation that wouldn't have been a problem, I think. Or if he just spoke that sentence fluently without pause.
You are not allowed to fly after you are a certain no. of weeks pregnant, so either this lady was in very dire circumstances (premature birth) or lied about how far gone she was. Anyone know how this ended?
Latter is usually the case for passport acquisition
It's medically discouraged, but still perfectly legal.
The maps are definitely helpful. I'd have no idea what CCC means otherwise
+cottagechskitty There you go! My pleasure!! :D
Pilot: We have a passenger in labor!
ATC: Climb to FL510 and do a crash depressurization, the pressure differential should pop that critter right out.
Two emergencies at the same time! Whoa!
I hope the lady's baby was born without complication. Of all the places you'd like to give birth, I can't imagine an airliner is high on the list.
It is sure something to be remembered for the rest of your life. The 10.000 meter club is nothing compared to this =)
Of course an airliner is high on the list! Very high! Lol you see what I did there? Yuk yuk
@@gomphrena-beautifulflower-8043 - Try an immigrant feeder ship in the late 1800s in the St. Lawrence Seaway (legal, of course). Someone in my genealogy database was born there aboard ship. Uff da!
ATC: Asks woman's age
Russian Pilot: Nyet, comrade. If ask for Russian woman's age then I will have medical emergency, too.
Aeroflot 151: Woman in labor!
Delta 412: Cool, ask her kid if they can fix our electrical system.
09:04 is exactly why I love aviation! It's so beautiful to see how the three aircrafts all align on the runways more or less at the same time, but have perfect separation from each other.
Got 'em lined up like Rockettes!
imho, Aeroflot's English is not so bad this time! (Russian here...)
+dan4ikm it's awful... God awful... both speaking and understanding are definitely below the required level...
hehe, you should listen the one with Russian controller and SwissAir plane. (you... catch bird?) that was truly awful. here they all at least understood each other
dan4ikm I was thinking the same thing. This is a well-educated Russian, at least as far as the English language.
So arrived with 1 more soul on board than departed with?
I'd say no. Technically the baby was there All along
My mom had me 5 days after landing at JFK from Athens Greece in 1987. She lied and said she was only 5 months pregnant and not flying on her due date. Ohhhh the 1980s.
Yeah, that sounds like a Greek.
That approach controller earned his bread that day, that’s for damn sure
4:35 this is why traffic controllers make the money they do...
Such a great mind to get everything ordered so well ✔
How much do they make?
@@teresas8173 the median is around 120k $
@MagniGames Why?
@@inastormydaze2044 there's a lot of training that goes into the job as well. It's also a very demanding job for someone's brain, that's why the FAA requires that all air traffic controllers retire at age 56. It's a very difficult job. Usually the highest pay is in the most congested airspace.
Isn't it so good to hear true international co-operation
Robert Bolt it is!! It’s just amazing. Makes me want to believe in human race again
I swear airlines, airports, and ATC are the place where international relationships shine the brightest
That’s how pilots are born 🤓
I don't even know how I ended up on these videos but they are awesome! Thanks for the hard work put in. Subscribed
There you go! Welcome to this aviation family!! :D
It's bizzare to thing that in 2 and half months the baby will be 5 already!
Great work again VASAviation, love the color coded jets and closed caption !
Thanks, my friend! :)
Man the Aeroflot pilot changed his callsign a lot
At Air Canada, these are referred to as "Stork Strikes"
Did she have the baby on the plane? I wonder if she and the baby were alright. If you could can you put that if you know in your story? Since I am a mother I would like to know did she have a girl or boy? I also thought that you couldn't fly if you were over 7 months. Did that change? I was told it is dangerous.
When asked to repeat a message by a pilot whose first language is not English why do Americans say it again in exactly the same way, delivery speed and tone.
I just realized my IQ is way to low to do any of this shit.
Epic
5:45 "Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit smoking..."
"Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit drinking."
"Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glue..."
@@americanfairy "Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue."
Hopefully the dad bought some Cuban cigars while in Havana that he can break out to celebrate with after the birth! 😁
If ATC said used the word recognized in many languages, mother, the pilot would have understood. Ask "age mother?" I swear, a woman ATC would have asked that, first thing.
Interesting, this is why flying during your last trimester is a very bad idea. Much is being lost in translation, the pilot's English is limited to aviation terms. At first I thought he might be ignoring the age question, base in "What does that have to do with anything", later it seems more likely he did not understand. Nice job thanks for posting it
well, the think about asking the age is very important in order to provide more accurate information to the medical team standing by on the ground, I'm not a doctor but I can assume it's not the same when giving birth being 20 years old or like in the situation above mentioned almost 40 years old, it's just to enhance the situation awareness by the crew and by the ATC and do as always the best as possible
@@juandanielgarciapinzon2242 the older the parent, the higher the risk up to menopause basically. The risk is low, BUT every medical circumstance is different.
Many bows to ATCs. I guess 99% of humankind would have had a HORRIBLE time dwelling with two emergencies at the same time.
I wonder, was the baby born on board or not?
I want to know why a pregnant woman was on the plane. I thought you were not suppose fly in your third trimester.
+Adam Reid Exactly: "Not supposed to". Not "banned from". Well, I am a woman, and unless it is a serious emergency, and I know - I don't want to appear in an ATC video like this. But we don't know, maybe this was a premature birth, which adds to the sh+++ness of the situation.
+Courier6 yes, exactly; I just don't understand why they wanted to know her age so badly rather than asking for the week of pregnancy, which for me would be much more important
Some people deliberately travel to the US to give birth. It's not a cheap option but US citizenship is considered rather valuable by many people.
@@petermichaelgreen that does not work that way in another countries though. There are countries that will not grant a baby the citizenship just for being born there, unless the parents also have that citizenship.
PETER GREEN well, the plane was merely flying over the US, not departing from or arriving in the USA so it'd take some amazing luck and timing to deliver a baby within US airspace I think. Doubt that was her plan.
nice, if this kid's parents are not american, this kid earned himself an american citizenship
xKuFsE HAHAHAH funny
Only when his birth is on ground outside the aircraft...inside of the aircraft this child is born as the mothers or fathers citicenship^^
And the aircrafts registration country (Russia) is considered nation of birth
I would give to that baby American, Russian, and Cuban citizenship at the same time.
What if the aircraft is registered in Bermuda? All Aeroflot Boeing and Airbus products are.
@@erik_griswold Some of these are also registered in Barbados...
Jirka Čumpelík VQ-BXX registry? That was assigned to Barbados when it was still a UK colony but since 1968 Barbados used 8P-XXX. When Bermuda ran out of VP-BXX registrations they were given VQ-BXX to supplement. Bermuda is still a British Colony (or “British Overseas Territory” as is now the terminology). The VP- and VQ- registrations are all used by British Overseas Territories including Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, The Falklands and Saint Helena.
@@erik_griswold I saw some of AFL aircraft associated with Barbados as country of registration on FR24, but I dont remember which particular registration it was. Anyway, thanks for the clarification.
@@erik_griswoldNot applicable. Lol.
I don't know, how other airlines deal with it, but all airlines I've ever flown with, would never allow highly pregnant person to fly wit them - by the way, including Aeroflot!
If her doctor okayed it, it's all right. Besides. some babies insist on coming early, or whenever they please! Go figure.
Its up to the airline if they want to take the risk
The risk start with 7 months as that is the start of the highest risk for premature birth. Past that point you do need doctors permission to fly. But just because you have permission to fly does not mean you will not go in to la or early. The babies come whenever they decide to come. Most developed airlines give their flight attendents training on how to deal with this and similar situation.
Good work VAS Aviation... I appreciate the work you do for the subtitles and the graphics...
Mom and baby ok?
5:55 So one "pan pan pan" and one "mayday mayday mayday" at the same time.
American ATCs speak so fast I'm sure it's difficult for foreign pilots to understand them.
US citizenship: unlocked
1:14 Ambulance
+Slicer Vorzakh I just realized when publishing the video... :D Thanks!
There seems to be confusion about the nationality of the baby, if it is born whilst in flight. In this case, the baby would be American, because they were in US airspace at the time. However, if the plane had been in the airspace of a country that does not confer birthright citizenship (Australia, England, Spain and others) then the baby is the nationality of the parents.
Does the baby have dual nationality then, American and Russian?
@@Nurichiri Quite possibly. If the parents are Russian, then yes, I believe it would be possible for the baby to have dual citizenship.
Idea: Baby is born on aircraft registered in Russia, therefore baby is Russian
I believe some other comment pointed out that if the baby is born on board, they would get the aircraft's citizenship (Russian?), if birth right applies. By the same token, if the baby is born after landing, they would probably get American citizenship instead.
Also, the flight is from Havana to Moscow, which means it's also possible that the parents are Cuban, which might also confer that citizenship as well.
So, they would be either only Russian (if parents are Russian + baby was born on board) or any 2 out of Russian/American/Cuban, depending on place of birth and parents citizenship, as well as each country's citizenship laws.
Thanks for the video, interesting to watch. And especialy thanks for the animation.
“We have a doctor on board” well at least if they can’t land beforehand they’re not without some help
I'm a goddess. Huh? I'm a goddess. How? I was born in the sky
Emergency doctor here. There is absolutely no need to know the age of the woman giving birth.
If anything, you may want to know her GESTATIONAL age.
zirioz • The only thing I could think of was perhaps age-related risk factors, and that’s for deciding whether to send a mobile NICU to receive/assist.
Agree, was wondering same.
As an AEMT I was thinking the exact same thing. It would make absolutely no difference in emergency response preparations. I would bring the same ambulance, the same equipment, and the same crew no matter the age of the patient.
I thought they were going to make him go around if he couldn't come up with the age of the woman. :-)
Ah yes, as opposed to a non-pregnant woman giving birth.
LOOOL 🤣🤣🤣
The question I have is if the baby is born in US airspace does that make him/her a US citizen or does baby obtain citizenship to the country in which the aircraft is registered
More people than you think fly to america to give birth. As that whole, citizenship upon birth thing attracts them.
lol there would be no way I'd get on a plane if I was that close to my due date haha
It is amazing to me how calm they are. 3 planes landing in quick precession.
A Russian international flight, originating from Cuba to Russia, flying over the US.
Must feel terrible for the woman. Kinda like when you're in the middle of heavy traffic and you totally need to go make a big dump. One of life's craziest downsides.
I'm very surprised at this incident. AFAIK, airlines have been refusing to transport pregnant women past month six for a number of years already! Did this passenger lie?
Or this was a very premature birth.
151 what? Let me tell you. Is there anybody out there that would pay attention to the fact of the MATTER get 1.151 mph equals 1 knot. Anybody?.! Hashtag what the f***
wow, us atc CAN speak clearly when they want to, awesome
Love that atc guy always say thank you
Oh poor lady, i hope her baby is fine...
What do those acronyms like ROBER, WUGAL, ZALPO, and CALPIT mean? Are they locations to help direct flights to the airport?
Those are fixes to guide the aircraft, correct.
Thanks for the response, looks like I guessed correct. Your channel makes me want to learn how to fly! Love your videos, keep up the great work!
VASAviation..I am a subscriber and love your Videos...In fact I am also a member of ATC.net...Love listening...How do you find all these emergencies and funny things you find?? They're great and Kennedy Steve is just great...I wonder if he even knows he is a star here on UA-cam....lolololo
I thought pregnant women couldn't fly in their last trimester?
Anata No Senei Common sense should prevail, but doesn’t always. Seriously, in reality, she may have had a family emergency or some such compelling reason.
Most airlines allow until 36 weeks
Could have been preterm labor.
Why Does The Age Of The Woman Giving Birth Matter!?!?!?!?
In the United States, even a child born in the country's waters or airspace is a U.S. citizen by birth in accordance with the principle of jus soli (right of the soil) -- that's the right of anyone born in the territory of a state to nationality or citizenship.
Yes. Not all countries are that way. Germany for example.
I can never be in the control tower. I'll panic. I can't multitask to this extent... xD I salute to them!!!
А американских диспетчеров обучают разбирать английскую речь с русским акцентом?
yeah sure whatever you said
I feel deprived of a resolve... boy or girl? Land or air birth?
I know Amish women that have had kids in morning and working in garden in afternoon
I love how when the Controller was talking to Delta he was so quick when talking, (even i went holy shit that was quick) compared to talking to Aeroflot haha
+Conor Mc Kernan People in a foreign language obviously will speak more slowly than natives =)
+Conor Mc Kernan He really knows who he is talking to and that if he speaks fast, AFL won't understand and he will have to say it again... so, although speaking slowly, it saves time. These are professional! :)
By the way 151 wasn't heavy until the birth.
Tell me they named the baby Juliet, please.
1:13 ambulance that's he says but nice video
Yep, kinda didn't get it. Thanks! :)
NoPlaneNoGain yea. Russian accents are kinda hard to understand sometimes
that skychild is going to be born soon
Some VERY lucky Cubans on that plane may not want to leave with the plane.

So does the child gets free airline lifetime ? (France do this for trains :) )
What also France does is : If you're born in a plane destinated to France you may claim Fench nationality, but more generally if you're born within a situation that as any slight connection to france you may claim French nationality XD
Got 'em lined up like Rockettes.
Fitting for a New York City arrival!
I love how jfk ATC slow down for foreign airfloat and speed up for native speaking pilots. Some common sense there.

Does it really matter how old she is?
SepticSceptic yes. Age can determine complications that might arise. It’s higher risk for both very young and more mature mothers. Knowing the age of the mother can help emergency services assess risk. Most women during “prime childbearing years” have few complications.
Yep! Required information they need to gather to pass along to the medical professionals responding
I know this is about the Aeroflotian baby ( +Tmccreight25Gaming ) but the ATCs work is captivating.
The TRACON Controller sounds like Dean Iacopelli; he's been at N90 for decades. Great guy.
